Maybe because up until now the GOP base wasn’t crazy enough to possibly give him a few primary wins? The GOP wants to have it both ways: they want their voters to bring their craziness, resentment and bigotry into the voting booth, but keep it hidden from the public. It’s getting increasingly hard to do.
It’s not just the GOP. Ron Paul has had his own followers for years and now people from both parties who didn’t care about him in the past are also falling for his so called message.
