Actually, somewhat disagree. She did a couple of things I thought very smart, enough so that provided:
a) nobody buys the company out; and
b) she can resist a stockholder eviction notice,
I think HP is likely to turn around over the upcoming couple of years.

A minor anecdote that I use as a tell. Whitman’s predecessor was preparing to spin off the most profitable product - printers - as a(n initially) wholly owned subsidiary, but with its own stock and books. Whitman reversed that one. In my experience, the people who spin off cash cows are pirates and short-term leaders looking for loot now instead of growth later. I found it encouraging.

FWIW when she took over she said it would take five years to recover, of which the first two would continue to decline. So far she seems to be on track.
