Friday Night Jam: Crowded House Live, ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’
Simply one of the best pop songs ever written, from Crowded House’s “Farewell To The World” tour in 1996. In memory of the great Paul Hester.

Here’s a great segment of NPR’s World Café featuring an interview with Neil Finn of Crowded House about their fine new recording Intriguer, interspersed with three songs from the album played live in the studio: “Saturday Sun,” “Either Side Of The World,” and “Twice If You’re Lucky.”
The new album by Crowded House is titled Intriguer, and I can’t possibly recommend it highly enough. This is songwriting honed to a fine edge, with one of the best bands Neil Finn has ever assembled. Here they are on the Jools Holland show doing “Amsterdam.”
Here’s the official video for ‘Saturday Sun’ from the new album by Crowded House: Intriguer. And what an excellent album it is. It’s impossible for Neil Finn to write a bad song.
Here’s an Amazon MP3 widget with more samples from Intriguer:
And here’s a promotional video for the album, also from Amazon:
Here’s the evocative video for Crowded House’s “Don’t Stop Now,” from the album Time on Earth. iTunes Store, anyone?
(Images from this video were used as cover art for the CD.)
Here’s the video for “Angel’s Heap,” another great song from the album Finn Brothers.
From one of my desert island records, Finn Brothers, here are Neil and Tim Finn with a great song and a truly weird video, “Only Talking Sense.”
From the album Woodface, this is a live version of a great song by Crowded House, “Fall At Your Feet.” Performed at the Sydney Opera House in 1996, with a very good audio track.
A great song and a great video, from the first album: Crowded House.
Crowded House’s Together Alone is one of the albums I’ll take with me when I’m marooned on a desert island, and this is one of the best songs on it, with a surreal, inventive video.
