Too often it seems that US government officials are either ignorant or dismissive of the many-leveled threat from radical Islam; but Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., has her eyes wide open. Investor’s Business Daily interviews the founder of the House Anti-Terrorism/Jihad Caucus: Congressional Paul Revere Warns Nation About Islamofascist Threat.
IBD: We often hear that Islam is a “religion of peace” and “tolerance,” and that jihadists have “hijacked” or “perverted” a “great religion.” Is this accurate, that nothing in Islam promotes or condones violent jihad against infidels? Or does such rhetoric simply play into the Islamists’ hands in their attempts to sugarcoat the threat, and confuse Americans?
Myrick: There are definitely passages in the Quran that promote or condone violent jihad. However, you can also find passages in the Bible which promote violence. I think that the president is failing the American people by sugarcoating the problem we are facing and only making things worse for the future.
We should explore every means of encouraging moderate Muslims to speak out against the radicals. There are many who want to, and do — such as Sheikh (Muhammad Hisham) Kabbani (of the Islamic Supreme Council of America) and Zainab al-Suwaij (of the American Islamic Congress) and Dr. Zuhdi Jasser (of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy). But they do not get the media attention.
IBD: Many Islamists are well-spoken, and seem skilled at manipulating not only our media but our laws. If they can use our constitutional freedoms against us to block due scrutiny, what chance do we have of marginalizing them?
Myrick: Over the last 25 years, there has been a concerted effort on the part of radical Islamists to infiltrate our major institutions in America. They have done that by funding professors’ projects in our colleges and universities. Then, they influence what is taught by making the program dependent on their yearly donations. Several classes have graduated and are now in the media, the judicial system, teaching in our schools and colleges, various branches of our government, even in our military. They are masterful at manipulating minds to fit their purposes.
IBD: How can they be exposed?
Myrick: We need to shed the veil of political correctness that shields government officials from speaking out against them. Until we do that, we do not have a chance of marginalizing them. As soon as someone broaches the idea that the Quran has violent passages, they get shot down as Islamophobes and racists.
Rather than debate these points, groups like CAIR seek to silence the debate. The American people deserve to see and hear the debate, but most people in positions of influence are afraid to say anything.
IBD: Jihad watchers have warned about “Shariah creep” in schools and local governments. We see Shariah being practiced in some parts of Europe; could it happen here?
Myrick: I believe Shariah could easily be practiced here. If a local community becomes infiltrated by extremists who run the town or village operations, then it could easily be implemented in this country. Unchallenged, it will happen.
National Public Radio film critic David Edelstein says Brian DePalma’s anti-US movie Redacted is terrible—but he loves it anyway: NPR Loves Bad Cinema — If It’s ‘Laudable Agitprop’ Against the Troops.
UPDATE at 11/25/07 1:22:55 pm:
The Daily Kos-endorsed Robert Redford film Lions for Lambs is utterly tanking at the box office: Daily Box Office for Friday, November 9, 2007.
The world’s most openly biased wire service, Agence France Presse, has a piece on the recent crop of awful Hollywood movies about terrorism and Iraq, completely ignoring the films’ unanimous left-wing political slant to argue that they’re failing because the war is unpopular: Hollywood is casualty of war as movie-goers shun Iraq films.
The comments at this Breitbart.com article are classic—almost every one objects to Hollywood’s continual trashing of America and US troops. (Hat tip: Arthur.)
Rusty Shackleford gets a death fatwa from that jihadi profiled by the New York Times: The Jawa Report: Reader Love Mail: From Inshallahshaheed With Love Edition.
Libertas has some links to trailers for Brian DePalma’s upcoming anti-war film, “Redacted,” a leftist anti-military fantasy come to life: Coming Soon! From Hollywood.
During David Horowitz’s speech at George Washington University, a CAIR supporter is ejected from the building for causing a disturbance—and on the way out, makes racist comments to a campus policeman.
UPDATE at 10/26/07 4:25:14 pm:
The creep in the video linked above is Umar Lee — and shhh! He’s on to us!
When I asked him why I had to leave he was belligerent and on this night there was no leftist domination on campus or Muslim domination, but rather a security guard who intervened on behalf of the right-wing racist Muslim-haters, and so, as he was defending those who are the inheritors of the legacy of slavery, I told him “your masters will now say you are a good boy and they may let you come live in the Big House”.
As I was being escorted out another guard, a young white one, ran up to me and tried to forcefully grab me and push me, and at that point I stiffened up and resisted him and by the grace of Allah he was not able to move me one inch, and then the other guard ( the black man with the slave mentality seeking the grace of his master) said let him go and he will leave peacefully, knowing that they did not have the strength to remove me, and I did leave peacefully while the entire time the smart-a** reporter, who I am guessing to be working for some right-wing bigot such as Horowitz, Emerson, FOX, or Charles Johnson, was following me and asking me if I made a racist statement and I am thinking to myself “isn’t this the pot trying to call the kettle black”?
It’s true. I’m looking over your shoulder right now, Umar. Booga booga!

Here’s Umar at the Islamic Society of North America convention, September 4, 2007, playing “fearsome jihad warrior” with a big sword:
Political Vindication has a good post on Dennis Prager’s speech at UC Santa Barbara for IslamoFascism Awareness Week: Dennis Prager Stuns Them at UCSB.
The question and answer period was an hour long and it sure felt like it. Dennis Prager sailed through it, shifting from pointed argument to playful bantor regardless of the hostility rising from the interrogator; it was fun to see those that obviously despised his message chuckle at his word play. But the challenges were predictable. When the lines formed after the speech, every green shirt in the crowd looked to be standing with notes in hand (green was the color of dissent). The first question came from a Muslim student - he railed against the fascist label and insisted Israel and America were the fascist aggressors in a world otherwise peaceful. The next man at the mike was a disheveled suit waving a book emblazoned with the title “The Israeli Lobby.” He said he would follow Dennis around until he interviewed the authors on his show about the fact that Jews were running American foreign policy and that Jews like Dennis formed a “fifth column” loyal only to Israel. Dennis took it well, but called the man an antisemite for such ignorant views, which so enraged the man that the police officers who were at every exit slowly moved to surrounded him. Someone yelled “Don’t tase him, bro!” and everyone laughed. Then Dennis yelled “Tase him, tase him!” and the laughter doubled.
Here’s an excellent article by Michael Fumento on Hollywood’s ongoing self-loathing leftist campaign to whitewash Islamic terrorism: Hollywood’s War on the War on Terror.
Read the whole thing, but here’s my favorite line:
They’re giving us the equivalent of 1943 movies equating FDR with Hitler.
