Safari 4 Ups and Downs

Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 2:17 pm PST

After a couple of days of using the public beta of Safari 4, there are three main points of contention interrupting my workflow. 1) I post to LGF primarily by using a Javascript bookmarklet (a bit of Javascript code that works as a bookmark) that pops up a new window containing ...

Safari 4 Public Beta

Wed, Feb 25, 2009 at 12:43 pm PST

There’s a treat at the Apple website: Apple Releases Beta of Safari 4. Here’s a direct link to the download page. First geeked-out impressions: the Javascript engine is screaming fast. Pages with a lot of Javascript are much quicker. LGF seems to work just dandy, and I haven’t encountered any rendering problems ...

Reporting back after two days running the latest Mac OS 10.5.2 (Leopard): very pleased so far. Wireless connections to the Airport base station seem more sturdy, the Time Machine feature is wondrous (takes a while to create the first backup, though), and the new Mail and Safari features are also ...

Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 5:30 pm PST

OK, I may finally be persuaded to use that Leopard OS DVD I bought last year and upgrade my main desktop machine, because it looks like some of the big issues have been addressed with today’s release of OS 10.5.2: Latest Leopard Update Resolves Common Complaints. And also because without Leopard, ...

Sunday Night Open

Sun, Nov 11, 2007 at 5:52 pm PST

Here’s an open thread for a Sunday evening, with another LGF thank you to America’s veterans. Since it’s an open thread, here’s my conundrum tonight: I’ve been trying to get up the nerve to install the new Mac OS 10.5 on my main desktop machine. It’s already installed on my laptop ...
