To wrap up my coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Denver on August 25-28, I offer here a compilation of all the lesser marches, the forgotten vignettes, the little scenes that few ever saw.
Despite all the hubbub and furor about the anticipated protests, the truth is that they were mostly very tame. Aside from the one small riot on Monday night (which I accidentally participated in), and a couple of lesser confrontations here and there, not much happened, when you get right down to it. My first urge is to say I’m a bit disappointed in my coverage, but in reality I covered all there was to cover. It’s not my fault that it was a wash-out.
All in all, I’d say ‘68 was not recreated.

On Tuesday, August 27, during the Democratic National Convention in Denver, I witnessed an incident that seemed at the time to be rather minor, but which over the subsequent days turned into a major scandal — primarily due to a video posted online by the Rocky Mountain News. This carefully edited video shows Officer Stewart of the Denver Police knocking Alicia Forrest of Code Pink to the ground during a protest, and then, after an edit, Forrest getting arrested by other officers. This video has created a firestorm among left-wing blogs, and also engendered many follow-up stories in the Denver Post, the Rocky Mountain News, Westword, and other mainstream Denver media outlets.
However, I personally witnessed the entire incident, from the beginning to the end, and can say without reservation that the Rocky Mountain News video is intentionally deceptive, and crafted to make the protester (Alicia Forrest) appear to be a victim of needless police brutality.
I think Zombie makes a mistake. A frame by frame view does not show the baton hitting the lefto-fascist in the face or skull. It is clear that it hits her in the upper body, and probably at the shoulders. That is why she was unscathed.
She is lucky - cause the officer did NOT mean to harm her.One of the hottest tickets at the Democratic National Convention was the “EMILY’s List Gala” starring Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama and Nancy Pelosi, held at the Sheraton Hotel on Tuesday afternoon, August 26. Code Pink, whom you’d think would be happy about an event celebrating a bunch of liberal women politicians, showed up to protest the gala. Partly this is because of their obsession with Nancy Pelosi and her failure to impeach George Bush, but mainly it’s simply because Code Pink will go anywhere where they think there will be media.
You know, I always had my suspicions about EMILY'S List. It's a stupid acronym - "Early Money Is Like Yeast"?. I mean, WTH? Given that it aims to encourage women to enter politics, I have a sneaking suspicion that the organisation was named for Mrs Pankhurst, the British women's rights and suffragette activist, who led the fight to give British women the vote and ...On the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, a “truther” organization called We Are Change sponsored the convention’s “9/11 Truth March.” I didn’t expect more than a few dozen people to show up, but was surprised and a little disturbed at how large it actually turned out to be — the crowd numbered in the hundreds, not the dozens.
I look at Zombie's pictures of the Troofer march and come to one conclusion on which we can all agree: White people have too much free time on their hands.On Tuesday, a group called The Backbone Campaign sponsored a parade they call “Procession to the Future,” but which is better known in journalistic circles as Giant Puppets!

Not everything that happens outside the Democratic National Convention fits into a “theme” of some sort. Instead, a chaotic kaleidoscope of sights and scenes assault your senses, until you just get overwhelmed. The following series of images were all taken within the space of two hours. I present them here to give everyone a more gut-level impression of what walking around Denver is like this week.
You know, this picture series really highlights the fact that the liberal "protester" crowds really all gang up and protest their own agendas all at the same time at other places. Make it seem like there is a decent sized turn out for whatever they are protesting for that event. On Tuesday, some Hillary Clinton die-hards held a march along the “designated parade route” from Denver’s Civic Center Park to the “free speech zone” at the Pepsi Center, where the convention is being held. Their goal: a last-ditch attempt to secure the nomination for Hillary.

The rumors are true. Political conventions are prime territory for star-chasers and celebrity hounds. In the space of just a few hours, I shook hands with the potential next Vice President (Joe Biden), had lunch with my Senator (Barbara Boxer) and a movie star (Danny Glover), then not long after met Dan Rather and San Francisco Attorney General Kamala Harris, and finally caught a glimpse of Hillary Clinton. And I wasn’t even trying. Real fame addicts have innumerable other opportunities in Denver this week to chum around with lawmakers, legends and superstars.
Regarding the video discussed in comment #257 above: I did indeed witness that. And as soon as everyone's backs were turned, the girl hopped up, smiled, and skipped away. The police did indeed knock her down, but she had been given dozens of warning to back up, and still wasn't doing it. He knocked her down, but frankly she should have known it was ...Zombie’s latest report is on the mosque that was constructed in Denver’s Civic Center Park, within sight of the capitol building.
The mainstream media don’t think this is newsworthy.
