Give Us Bigger Houses Or Die!

Sat, Jun 12, 2004 at 3:57:28 pm PDT

The entitlement mentality meshes with the death cult: Palestinian gunmen raid UNRWA offices in Jenin.

The United Nations decided over the weekend to suspend its construction project in the Jenin refugee camp after Palestinian gunmen threatened crews rebuilding houses destroyed during Operation Defensive Shield in 2002.

Five men armed with M-16 rifles raided the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) offices in the camp on Friday to protest that the new houses were too small. The gunmen threatened to harm the UN staff if their demands for larger houses were not met.

Residents of the Jenin camp are complaining that their new houses, replacing those destroyed in Israeli incursions, are not big enough, said Sami Mshasha, a spokesman for UNRWA in Jerusalem.

Sources in the camp said they did not know to which group the gunmen belonged, although some residents identified them as members of the Aksa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah.

This was the third attack of its kind on UN offices and crew in the Jenin camp in the past six months. Residents had complained that the construction work was too slow and that senior Palestinian Authority officials had stolen parts of the donations from the international community to the camp.

One of the attackers complained that the 180 square meter apartment he had been given was too small for him and his wife. “Soon we will have children and this apartment would be too small,” he told the UN staff.

What dickwits. I think we need to apply the M-16 sterilization device liberally and stop the problems with too many kids.

Since he's going to strap explosives to his kids soon, why does he care there won't be enough room for them?

Well, you know 1900 sqft. just doesn't store as many rifles and bombs as it used to.

They'll probably also complain that UNRWA's ambulances are too small to carry the arms, terrorists and explosives they want to send out on their courier routes. Regards

Holy cow! I read that square meter figure of 80 and kinda felt bad (until I realized whose these people were a nano second later) then did the math.

I live in a 1200 squarefoot 2 bedroom apartment with my GF and have abple space. This is fricken unbeleivable.

But Fatah is the armed wing of the PLO.

I guess this makes AMB the armed wing of an armed wing.

Welfare mentality strikes gaza.
I have no idea how these people would keep a country even if when it is given to them. The palis have become the worlds largest monetary rathole in history. Worthless.

12 Kat  Sat, Jun 12, 2004 2:16:10pm

Takes lots of room to pop out suiciders. You have to have lots so you don't really miss a few when they blow up. Yasser Arafat regularly urges Palestinians to procreate abundantly so as to be able to donate more offspring to his intifada martyr brigade. As he stated to the residents of a West Bank refugee camp, "I call upon each and every one of you to bring into this world at least twelve children and give me ten of them in order to continue the jihad."

I understand completely. I often felt like attacking
my landlord when I got my first apartment. And I felt like letting him feel the wrath of God. I believed I was totally righteous and that he was an agent of evil, corrupt, the scion of the serpent, and a few other things
besides. So my sympathy goes out to those poor
Jenin-ites, who are now expected to live like
dogs (er, sardines). What kind of decent-sized
bomb factory can you have in 80 square meters??

Europeans are paying to build slums for Muslims in Europe and Jenin. How quaint!

20 *Micol*  Sat, Jun 12, 2004 2:35:01pm

wtf!!
even in european standards, 180 square meters is huge for an appartment! In Jerusalem my dad pays a fortune for 130 square meters that fits him his wife their two kids and often times me with no problem.
My BF and I are looking for 80 m² appartments because "we want a big one" here in Brussels...
but wait and see, the world will once again be fooled by gunmen...

Loosers. I swear. I went to work 6 years ago making minimum and tips after injuring myself so that I can't work steel like I used to. 18 years of career gone!

I worked my ass off to build a new career and now make over 40k a year. During that time my family of 6 stayed in a 1200 sq ft 2 bedroom one bath apartment.
We dug ourselves out of this hole and it wasn't easy.

If he is trying to get sympathy, I got news for him:

Get a fucking life! No one owes you a damned thing. The US needs to pressure to end support for the Jordyptians and put forth the official position that there is no such people as "Palestinians", only some terroist refugees who are in that position because of the greed of their Arab "brothers". The Jordyptians are the "red headed sptepchild" of the ME.

I can't think of anyone who can trace their ancestry back to a nation called Palestine. I challenge anyone to do so.

Piss on these beggars! ROPMA, {{{hugs everyone}}},

Not to worry, I'm sure that the EU will rush emergency funds to Jenin, and with the booming EU economy it shouldn't have to raise your taxes or reduce your benefits much at all.

So let's see: genocide ongoing in Sudan, UN sits on it's hands.

Arab murderers and their sympathizers lose their houses, and the UN jumps to rebuild them.

180 square meters is equal to about 1937 square feet.

[Link: www.houseplanshouseplans.com...]

a four bedroom house of 1808 square feet.

Was the news media incorrect, or are these guys demanding mansions? Or was it 180 square feet?

Welcome to my rabbit hutch," says Kanako Suzuki waving her hand to indicate a one room six tatami apartment, one tatami is about 3 ft by 6 ft. I look around and I don't see any bare wall space. A rapidly multiplying record collection lines one wall floor to ceiling. The others are hidden behind posters, event flyers, and tapestries picked up on trips to India, Thailand, Malaysia. Up above clothes dry suspended from a homemade clothes hanging contraption. There's definately a battle going on between the records and the laundry about who should get to dominate the room. But in the end it's Kanako who loses since there's not enough space for even one guest. But this doesn't depress Kanako because she knows she's not the only one who lives like this since her apartment is identical to many apartments and rooms pictured in Kyoichi Tsuzuki's Tokyo Style. You can forget minamalist Japanese esthetic concepts when it comes to living in a real Japanese home.

arcana imperii - secrets of the empire

Thanks for clearing that bit up, I now know a word/phrase in yet another language, I think I need to sit down and learn one of the 6 or 7 now, this is getting out of hand for me..

Aracna Imperii sounds like a bitchin' name for a microbrew.

Sounds more like Spiders of the Empire don't it?

I meant Arcana Imperii of course. Maybe I should be TypoMan instead of PostalWorker.

Sheeet, I lived in an apartment bloc in Haifa four three years. My flat was only about 100m2. Of course it was built by a group of idealistic self sacrificing socialists (Histradut) in the early 1950's and was a luxury for a DP family. These al Aqsa a-holes must be jonesin for the digs they had in Tunisia or Beruit when they ran roughshod over their people while living like a German student on break in Ibiza.

#25 Postal Worker I suggest No. 4 shot in a 12 ga. for full kenetic transfer and tissue disruption. 00 will usually pass clear through a human without producing maximum terminal effect. Although, 00 is more effective for a barricaded subject. Try 00 for your first two rounds to gain entry (it is better for defeating locks) then follow up with the lighter loads upon entry. You will also have better gun control for subsequent shots with the lighter load. This assumes your are on the offense, unlikley for civilians. It is best in a home defense scenario to keep No. 6 or 7 loaded so that you don't penetrate partitions within your home and endanger your family. Birdshot will do the job very effectively out to 10 metres. I hope I didn't sound like to much of a pedant. I am sure you were aware of this and were just making the old 00 bluster. I have myself on many an occasion. I only wanted the rest of the community to be informed so they will be more effective when it comes to arms instead if words.

You are all so good at math. I had to use Google calulator to convert the meters into feet.

piglet - that house looks nice and is even labled "livable" (well that does seem a bit strange).

There must be a mistake - they can't be serious... oh perhaps they are.

To buy an apartment that size (new) in Israel, one would pay well over $300,000. My daughters apartment is smaller than the freebe handed to the worthless palestinian and they in order to pay their morgage work 3 jobs between them.

If my apt were for sale it would be $600,000.
And it's a studio - one room. It's large for a Manhattan studio. And it's in a nice building with a swimming pool and health club. You could get the same apt in another neighborhood in Manhattan in a plainer building for $400,000. In one of the other boroughs, take off another $100k.

I live in a 1200 squarefoot 2 bedroom apartment with my GF and have abple space. This is fricken unbeleivable.

Yes, but you and your spouse don't produce homicide bombers and are therefore not worthy of better.

The Japanese place sounds about the size of my dorm room. Big enough, I guess, when I was mostly someplace else. Didn't have to subtract bathroom space, either - shared facilities down the hall...

My aunt and uncle raised *7* boys in a 900 sqft ranch - never have quite understood how they pulled THAT off, I suspect they ate in shifts, and were elsewhere as much as possible. I know they put at least one (if not two) "bedrooms" in the basement, but hell, they needed basement as space, already!

In my 'hood, it is not uncommon for people (often some flavor of MidEastern) to buy up two adjoining lots, tear down the existing 900 - 1100 ft bungalows and put up a 2500 - 4000 ft monster. Dunno what the final cost is, but by the time you figure in demol and clearing costs, they're dropping at least $200k just for the LOT. These are NOT, however, publically funded projects, so more power to 'em!

One of the attackers complained that the 180 square meter apartment he had been given was too small for him and his wife.

And most Israelis are as pleased as Punch to get themselves an apartment of 72square meters.
There are comfortable in Apts of 90+ sm and they bring up two and three kids in these 2 bedroom "hovels" which cost between $150 grand and $200 grand.

#53 Piglet

It is 180 square meters. They want to have mansions like the big shots have. Here in Israel local Arabs just starting out with 150sm on getting married. They end up with I suppose the equivalent of a multi story "brownstone".

Anyone coming here should take a bus ride [Tel Aviv - Afula] through Wadi Arrah ( Um al Fahem) and see the mansions perched on the hillsides. Eye opening and "educational" :-)).

101 Barry  Sun, Jun 13, 2004 5:45:34am

#71 Selpaw

Don't forget that those 180sm was built with US tax dollars.
That's what hurts most of all.

Yah. When I sent the link off to my daughter and friends in Israel most of the replys were...drop jaw-What assholes!!! Mostly things I can't reprint.

98 odin
Exactly what my daughter said. LOL!

The thought of my tax dollars paying for that raises my very low blood pressure to the boiling point.

103 Crusade Now  Sun, Jun 13, 2004 9:31:21am

As they are arabs they want big houses...in Australia, all mediteranean cultures that we have imported desire huge mansions...Just goes to show...the anglosphere should leave the UN...its a joke...

104 veebee  Sun, Jun 13, 2004 10:34:30am

I don't even dream of a house that size in the Bay Area. I'm about to give up on a house. Really, a middle class family can't afford anything here.

105 Jakester  Sun, Jun 13, 2004 3:19:20pm

Sterilize them and give them doghouses to live in! They behave like typical welfare sucking parasites!

 Frank says:

Interviewer:
The notion of a "guitar solo" has preconceptions based on it; people automatically refute it because it's supposed to be self-indulgent or "for musicians." It's almost like things become iconographic and somehow lose their value for outsiders.

Zappa:
Well, who's fault is that? That's what _writers_ do. Musicians don't do that. The average person doesn't sit around thinking about "iconographic problems of a guitar solo." -- Interview for Musician magazine, by Matt Resnicoff, November 1991. Reprinted in July 1995 Issue.
