If the extremists start to escalate, they will ultimately discredit themselves and their movement. It's similar to the situation with Muslim extremism, the more bombs that go off in Iraq, or the more Imans that call for jihad over the Koran flushing rumor, the more these people will be seen for the nonrational, dangerous fanatics that they are.
