In what’s become a sort of dysfunctional knee-jerk reaction among self-styled progressives, the Kos Kidz waste no time going for the cheap smear: Comments SCOTUS/Bush Speech Open Thread.

Did You Catch His Wife (1.75 / 4)
When Roberts thanked his family, he mentioned his son, Jack...Roberts’ wife’s face fell.  It was like a poker tell.  I think we should research Jack.

Confederate Yankee emailed to let us know that Roberts’ son Jack is ... four years old.

In a related story, Kevin Drum quotes a Washington Post article comparing blogs to the Federalist Papers; Dan Morgan looks in vain for an Alexander Hamilton among the “resident writers” (not commenters) at America’s #1 progressive site: DailyKOS Classy Quotes.

Smarter than them, too, no doubt.

What is with their obsession with gays?

6 zombie  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:18:19am

Hey, four-year-olds can be gay too! How dare you impose your "adults-have-a-monopoly-on sexual-orientation" fascism on the little tyke.

Come out of the closet, Jack! We will accept you into our sex-positive community, and save you from your Nazi parents!

7 Spectrum007  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:18:20am

When my kids were four, my face would 'drop' also.

Anybody with kids knows its hard.

I was 25 with lots of energy, I could not imagine a four year old at 50 years old.

I seem to remember a lot of negative comments from the left, directed toward Souter back when he was up for confirmation.

Living alone, a bachelor as I recall, the left made a lot of nasty comments and insinuations.

Hey I have an idea.

All Liberal women who feel oppressed by this nomination should go topless.

That would show all the dirty white men a thing or two.

21 Gang of One  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:28:18am

I just took a gander at the KlassyKosKwotes. For sheer arrogance and mean-spiritdness, you just can't beat [now there's a happy thought] a KosKiddyKommie. Never, even in my own naive, liberal youth, did I pretend to be so much better and smarter than those I thought were my adversaries.

I am truly looking forward to that day when we cab actually question their patriotism and then hang the bastards from the lightposts and power-lines. My ancient Roman blood foresees moonbats strung up along the interstates much as the enemies of Rome were X-ified and adorned the Appian Way.

24 Deuce  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:29:40am

The Roberts's obviously employ an illegal Latin America immigrant for a nanny for little Jack, and send the young woman around town to fill illicit oxycontin prescriptions, and pulled strings to put the child at the head of the line for admission to the Texas Air National Guard Pre-School in the lily-white northern Virginia suburbs.

25 foreign devil  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:30:56am

What the hell does he mean by this?

"...but extreme conservatives seem to have a lot of homosexual children..."

You know, that's such b.s. and this is the party that's supposed to be all inclusive and for the 'man and woman on the street'. What a bunch of toffee-nosed elitists! Why do gay people vote Democrat and look on the Democrats as the party of choice when behind the gays' backs the Democrats, at least the Kos Kidz and their ilk, are laughing at them? Maybe they all deserve each other since gay politics has become really an 'operation' these days too.

26 Wino  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:30:59am

The KKK and the DU-masses are a bunch of teenagers who will never grow up.

Remember when you were a teenager and knew how much smarter you were than your parents, teachers, and other blindered adults?

Well, that's how they ALL feel, ALL the time.

Some of them may have been around (chronologically) more than 19 years, but they're all teenagers, emotionally.

The rest of us grew up.

27 Model4  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:31:55am

I'm sure if Roberts has any gay children that John Kerry and John Edwards will be up to the task of outing them. And liberals will cheer.

But then again, I'd heard that if Bush was re-elected all the gays would be put into concentration camps, which surely would have happened by now, right? Maybe that's why Mrs. Roberts expression changed, thinking of her gay son who's now behind all that razor wire with all the rest of the nation's gays.

Despicable creatures, liberals.

Do Kos and DU commenters ever listen to people? They seem to love to watch faces for secret signals...but I guess they have to wait for their masters to give them their list of talking points before they comment on anything that was actually said!

Not sure who he runs with, but he was a partner at Hogan & Hartson.

On another note-

Mr Roberts and his wife, Jane, a lawyer, have two adopted children - five-year-old Josie and four-year-old Jack.

Rove probably kidnapped the children to make Roberts and his wife seem more wholesome.

Do Kos and DU commenters ever listen to people?

Nope - they already have their minds set all about the person based on the guy that nominated him (Bush). They are just searching for "clues" they can use to expose the obvious conspiracy that clouds everything.

Roberts is officially now "The Most Evil Judge That Ever Lived" - We'll hear everything from "he's against the consitution" to "he kicks puppies for fun" in the next few weeks.

41 xanthrope  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 7:52:01am

J.D.

That picture of him cavorting appears to be the very definition of the word…

gay

adj 1: bright and pleasant; promoting a feeling of cheer; "a cheery hello"; "a gay sunny room"; "a sunny smile" [syn: cheery, sunny] 2: full of or showing high-spirited merriment; "when hearts were young and gay"; "a poet could not but be gay, in such a jocund company"- Wordsworth; "the jolly crowd at the reunion"; "jolly old Saint Nick"; "a jovial old gentleman"; "have a merry Christmas"; "peals of merry laughter"; "a mirthful laugh" [syn: jocund, jolly, jovial, merry, mirthful]

What do you think I meant?

Welcome to the club, man. I'm 45, and I've got a 13-month-old, a three-year-old, and an almost five-year-old. All girls.

About 98% of the time, they're a blast. My three-year-old especially impresses me with her conversation. Last night when I was tucking her in for the night, she was talking about how "...when you wake up in the morning, you can have buttered toast. Yum!".

I worry about my four year old son too. Sometimes he watches Thomas the Tank Engine. No monogomous engine should want to couple to both Annie and Clarabel.

58 Baldy  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 8:30:37am

Actually, I knew I was different when I was four, but didn't know what gay was. I just knew that I saw the world differently than other boys, and wasn't interested in things most boys were interested in, and people saw me differently than they saw my brothers. I was a sissy then. But that's irrelevant. The issue for me, is the desire of the lefties to target an oppenent's family, for innuendo, slander, libel, "research" (invading the all-important "RIGHT TO PRIVACY", which we hear so much about. Does the Left keep lists of conservatives and/or their family members, who they suspect of being gay? That's MkKKarthyism! / confused conservative imitating confused LLL off. Research Report: ~TOP SECRET~

Subject (Jack Roberts) is suspected of chronic bedwetting and has a demonstrative fear of the dark, as well as the bogyman. Often sleeps with a night-light and “snowball”, his stuffed tiger. Refuses to eat all his carrots and peas. Will consume unlimited amounts of “kebbler sweet baby corn”. Won’t consume bread/sandwiches unless crust is cut off. Has a reported hatred of anything “lemon flavored”. Knows all his letters and numbers but often uses “me” in place of “I”. May or may not (depending on the source) tease his sister and often refers to her as “poo-poo head”. Known to wear Spiderman underwear and “Harry Potter” pj’s (with the rubber feet).

Recommendation: Continued surveillance is suggested.

I do have a glimpse, however, as my youngest is in school and is working and I'm going over every night and helping out. I'm now glad that I had mine early, so I have enough energy for the grandchildren (who are 9, 6 and 2). I crawl home every night.

From the "chickens come home to roost" files
Walter Wlliams writes in today's IBD :

" The recent phase of the reparations movement has an interesting twist. Rev. Wayne Perryman, a conservative minister of Mount Calvary Christian Center Church of God in Christ in Seattle, has filed a lawsuit against the Democratic Party. His lawsuit charges “that because of their racist past practices the Democratic Party should be required to pay African-Americans Reparations.”

Perryman’s brief, citing abundant historical evidence, charges that the past racist policies and practices that were
initiated against blacks by the Democratic Party were no different than the policies and practices that were initiated by
the Nazi Party against the Jews.

Can you all believe how young this guy is? He's got kids instead of grandkids! I just hope he's decent, because we're probably going to have him around for a long time if he survives the nomination process.

As far as the moonbats picking on a little boy like this, it makes me so mad my blood boils. They were probably the school bullies in elementary school. I don't spank my kids, but there are some moonbats who deserve a trip to the woodshed.

When Roberts thanked his family, he mentioned his son, Jack...Roberts’ wife’s face fell.

Hey, you idiot, her face didn't fall, she was simply looking at Jack, who was standing right in front of her at the time.

87 sefton  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 9:54:34am

#65 that should be.

88 effoff  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 9:57:48am

Her face fell because her 4 year old son was acting like a Kos Kid...check out this video where he can't sit still and ends up BITING HIS MOTHER'S ARM! No wonder Bush had a "smirk" on his face.

Lazy and short on time. Is there anybody on the thread who didn't know that Jack and Josephine are adopted?

90 effoff  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 10:00:19am

Sorry about the bad link...not sure how to copy it correctly from CNN. Any way, check out the video's under the section on Roberts and it's the one where his buddy is talking about him.

I think that is hilarious how one of the Kos loons wanted to investigate Roberts son Jack and now Confederate Yankee pointed out that the kid is 4. That is too funny, but only shows how extreme these kooks are. Attack, Attack, Attack, that's all these people know how to do. Amazing...

She was probably hoping he'd behave. They're in the White House for a solemn occasion, and the kids are acting like normal little kids. If it were my 5 year old son in a similar situation, he wouldn't stop at dancing. He'd have to do something to get everyone to laugh at him.

We should all remember that the basic idea behind those comments is not bad only because the child is a child.

Whether his son Jack is 4 or 34, it is still a loathsome act to go after family members of a political opponent.

Research Jack ind**d.

The Clinton Smear Team wrote the book on this, and the L3 still follow it to the letter - embellishing where they deem appropriate.

The trogs over at DU, LGF Watch, Haloscan, et al follow the same playbook as well. Personal attacks on family members and 'non-combatants' is their hallmark. Miserable, whiney, simpering trolls that they are.

Renna (#69),

Whether his son Jack is 4 or 34, it is still a loathsome act to go after family members of a political opponent.

And the Kos Kidlets are over there right now screaming how wrong, evil and wrong it was for Rove to "out" Valerie Plame to discredit her husband.

Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I'd even cut the KosKiddies some slack if they unintentionally found out something about a close family member of Roberts and they made a point of it.

If it came out, without anyone specifically looking for something, that his wife was a current member of the Klan, I think that would bear somewhat on Judge John's qualifications.

But here they are advocating going after someone about which they know nothing, investigating them, for the purpose of digging up something, anything to use.

101 Blue Chip  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 10:44:52am

I love this. The Dems want the nominee to possess the following standards:

(via fox)

The internal memo obtained by FOX News states that the "standards for a nominee are clear. Does this nominee:
- Protect the individual rights and freedoms of Americans?
- Judge cases fairly, with an open mind, and without a political agenda?
- Protect all Americans and not side with powerful special interests?
- Meet the highest ethical standards?"

My Question- How many of the Dems (specifically-Kennedy, Kerry, Reid, Schumer, et al) possess even one of these qualifications? I wouldn’t be able to keep a civil tongue in my head answering questions regarding ethics and open minds from the likes of these dems.

102 alice in wonderland  Wed, Jul 20, 2005 10:47:12am

John Roberts son was hamming- it-up during nomination on national TV, his wife was mortified. These are some of the pictures.

Of course the Kos idiots would want to attack a 4 year old, they might stand a chance of winning or succeeding - something unheard of at Asylum Kos.

I don't know, there may be something to what the people at Kos are saying; "Jack" is known to spend time with children and has had so-called "sleepovers" with some of his young friends.

BTW, "Jack" is only semi-literate, doesn't have a job, and is totally dependent on his aging parents for shelter and support.

The worst of all this arguement is that these questions do not apply...and should not apply.
The question to ask is if he sits with the Supremes, will he follow the law of the land--pure and simple. He can believe what he wants, but he is to respect the law...not his opinion of what the law should be.

Whenever these people argue against something, you can be sure they are practicing that very thing every hour of the day. It is how they do things. A liberal majority decided to do away with "personal" rights of the individual just a couple of weeks ago...where was the "looking out for Americans then? They don't care about the average American at all...they just preach to the choir and think the rest of us are too stupid to care...big mistake. And they always think they know what is best for us...

Vote them all out of office next election...this we can do, should do, and I, for one, am looking forward to it! I want a Republican majority sooo large, that it will take the Democrats a lot of time to think about what this party should stand for rather then what it should stand against...and I am a registered Dem...

But one who has seen the light!

Isn't it interesting that those that claim to be in favor of "gay rights" immediately jump on even the possibility that John Roberts' son might be gay, as the start of an investigation so that they can "smear" Roberts.

Too bad for them little Johnny is only four, and to him "gay" just means happy.

Yeah, but I've always had trouble getting dates, never mind wives. I got married at 27 to the woman who was literally my first in pretty much everything. I didn't want the divorce, but I did think it would at least be easier to find someone else now that I was "experienced." Unfortunately the search so far has proven almost as frustrating as it was the first time around. I have a house, a steady job, a sideline rehabbing houses, I'm not a bad-looking guy, but it's still hard for me to get women to look at me twice. It would probably be easier if I was more interested in women in their mid-40's, but I'm really looking for someone 25-35 who wants kids.

Clark 26 (3,496)
No Freakin' Clue 17 (2,320)
Clinton 10 (1,461)
Feingold 10 (1,433)
Edwards 8 (1,077)

Warner 5 (689)
Richardson 4 (659)
Biden 3 (497)
Kerry 2 (341)
Bayh 2 (328)
Vilsack 0 (88)
