Another Robotic Rant from Al

Thu, Oct 6, 2005 at 7:32:25 pm PDT

I started to read Al Gore’s latest weird rant about digital brownshirts who have too much free speech, an attempt to reassure the media elites that he’ll save them from the unregulated, unwashed blogosphere with his new TV venture, but my eyes glazed over and my head began to drop after the first paragraph: Text of Gore Speech at Media Conference.

The aforementioned first paragraph:

I came here today because I believe that American democracy is in grave danger. It is no longer possible to ignore the strangeness of our public discourse. I know that I am not the only one who feels that something has gone basically and badly wrong in the way America’s fabled “marketplace of ideas” now functions.

Oh, please.
