I would bet a c-note that whoever is carrying that sign doesn't know who Hitler is.

Seriously, we're talking about some of the most non-educated people in the world when it comes to muslims. And women? Education is against their religion, unless they're busy memorizing the Koran.

17 Catttt  Sat, Feb 18, 2006 7:51:30am

Are they that insane? I know they think that in their hearts, but if they write it in red and hold it over their heads, the dhimmis might start to borrow a clue.

Yes. Yes they are. They need to not censor themselves but to think before hitting the post button. Some people eventually understand this, some never will.

That said, if the woman holding that sign dropped dead this very moment, the world would instantly become a slightly better place.

Also, she is doing a great service for the enemies of Islamist radicals. More like this ... say what you really feel ... strip the veneer away ... don't give your Leftist supporters any cover to hide behind.

dhimmofascist

In my rush to express myself quickly, did I just unconsciously coin a new word?

dhimmofascist = Western secular appeasers who support and join the cause of Islamic fundamentalist fascists, because they either fear for their lives, or they mistakenly think the Muslims will do the dirty work of overthrowing capitalism so that the Marxists can then step in a take over afterwards.

46 gymnast  Sat, Feb 18, 2006 8:02:03am

The photo at the top of the thread is an example of free speech that should be taken, without emotion, as a warning and a call to prepare for the coming struggle with Islam. It should erase all doubts as to our fate if we fail. Our leaders should prepare themselves to lead.

Look at the sign behind Hitler. FREE MEDIA OF FREEDOM. Just as ominous in a way. When that prevaricator, Neal Gabler, so called "media Critic" for Foxnews was asked about the cartoons, he justified censure and riots because the Dutch newspaper that published the same was "conservative". In other words, to the LLL censorship is OK so long as they do the censuring. A terrifying lack of principle and a demonstration the liberalism is not a coherent philosophy but rather a means to power.

50 Jheka  Sat, Feb 18, 2006 8:03:31am

Let me clarify my earlier comment:

That sign, held by our enemies helps our side and does nothing for them.

Jheka @ 35

Someone at my church was trying to - in a nice to everybody kind of way - understand the whole cartoon outrage/debacle. One thing he said made a sort of sense. Free speech has been our heritage, our accustomed way of being since our country's inception. We breathe free speech without realizing it. We have tolerated all manner of outrageous and grotesque and offensive speech because of our inherited value of "defending to the death your right to say it" that is so ingrained.

We are dealing with people who have none of that, whose lives have been lived in fear of saying the wrong thing, in fear of barbaric punishments for centuries. They are probably even afraid not to protest and hold up signs that they can't even read. Useful idiots.

But that is the enemy we face.

58 calculatorjockey  Sat, Feb 18, 2006 8:09:00am

One thing that is particularly cowardly about the left in America is their pandering to bullies. You let a pastor quietly read to his congregation "Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind" and he is accused of hatespeach by the ACLU and Hollywood. You let muslims walk around screaming "Death to America" "Death to Isreal" blow this up, blow that up, etc. and you hear nothing from these same people.

Alec Baldwin writes that Cheney is a terrorist. Cindy Shehan camps outside Bush's ranch and these people think they are being courageous. George Clooney talks of making his latest movie and said "Well, we just jumped right in, we knew it wouldn't get any easier" Easier? You mean it wouldn't get any harder! Muslim animals the world over are burning buildings and cars, screaming death to the west and firing guns in the air and evangelicals are the enemy? What is wrong with this picture?

What these women want to say with the sign is unclear.

It is to laugh. Andrew Sullivan long ago commented on the willful obtuseness of Westerners who refuse to believe what is right in front of their eyes. He said something like, "It's as if these experts were to view a video of people sitting down to dinner and eating, and would say, 'What is the meaning of these actions? What are they trying to say?'" Idiots! There is no mysterious, hidden meaning in what they're doing - they're saying they like Hitler BECAUSE THEY DO!

Here's an interesting post from today's craigslist in SF:

Heavy-metal headbanger loses patience with Islam, calls for a boycott! :

Malaysia Bans Heavy Metal - Boycott Islamic Republics

The National Fatwa Council, comprising Islamic scholars hand-picked by Malaysia's king, said Monday that the themes of black metal music were prohibited by Islam, claiming they could lead Muslims to stray from their beliefs, consume alcohol and indulge in sexual misconduct.

Authorities plan to enact new laws allowing charges to be laid against Muslims who form black metal bands, council spokesman Shukor Husin was quoted as saying by the national news agency, Bernama.

It's time you looked at all the labels on your textiles and other products. It's time we boycott all Islamic Republics who ban free speech or allow their people to run around assassinating anyone who disagrees with Islam. I just threw away a shirt from Pakistan, and I'm looking at the labels closely from now on. Also, write the oil companies and ask them to start Free Speech Gasoline stations, where people can have the satisfaction of buying gas only i[m]ported from non-Islamic-Republics.

And take mass transit too. Anything you can do to reduce gas consumption, anything you can do to not buy any prouducts from Islamic Republics will send the message that we are no longer going to be funding the destruction of our own free-speech-loving culture.

Dude! I like how you think!

Rock on!

And Here Goes Holland

A recent opinion poll in the Netherlands found that 44% of Dutch are becoming more afraid than before of a clash between Islam and the West. Almost half think that Islam and democracy are not compatible and 40% think it is a violent religion.

Bravo! To all those who burned Danish flags and vilified an entire nation because of what an independent paper did there: bravo! You just lost Holland as well. One of the most open and tolerant countries in the world. Their tolerance knows no limits to the extent that the Dutch left Amsterdam to the immigrants! I remember the last time I visited Amsterdam was for just one day, I had lunch at a Korean restaurant and got a free Coke from an Egyptian cafe. I bought Dutch souvenirs from a shop owned by a Chinese!

Bravo!

Like the cartoons are the cause of deadly rioting.

The cartoons ARE the cause of deadly rioting - but they should NOT be. I always love how people deliberately give up their freedom because of spinelessness. "Women should wear burqas, becuase otherwise they are raped". This is equal to saying "Food in supermarkets should be covered because otherwise it is eaten", or "seats in churches shouldn't be built to conveniently because people fall asleep". It assumes there is no free will, no wilfull control - that people are no better than animals. The statement "the cartoons caused rampage" implies that people cannot decide how to react to cartoons, that they are forced to riot by whatever causes. These causes, not the cartoons should be investigated - and taken care of.

not quite born when Pearl was hit
but I don't think too many people saw that coming
at least not the Joe Sixpack on the street

we've all known, or should have known,
for years that the Islamofascists want to kill us

since 9/11 though - it's really clear and no sane person can deny that, IMHO

but in physics there is a law stating something to the effect of
for every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction

where is the reaction from us every time they burn our flags or burn our President in effigy ?
I'd like to see a reaction from our "leaders" at the very least
verbally first
then beyond that - we have an array of options
but there needs to be some kind of reaction

and not submission
which is why I call the left
Submission Supporters
and not Peace Activists

Jheka, you're assuming everyone shares our Western moral sense, and will be outraged. But they don't. So they won't. We're just as evil as Hitler, remember? Liberals can't even see that sign -- "what the women meant by the sign is unclear".

The moral sense that would lead to outrage has eroded to the point where it is hardly defended at all by our leaders. If after all the outrages we've suffered so far "we the people" cannot put some spine in our leaders, what's it going to take?

I shudder to think.

Churches burned as Nigerian cartoons protest turns violent

Nigerian Muslim rioters looted and burned Christian churches and businesses Saturday after police halted a protest against the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, witnesses said...

"When news went into town about what happened at the square, a mob attacked motor spare parts shops of Christian Igbo traders at Monday market in the city, looting and burning them," Auwalu said.

Local reporter Abdullahi Bego told AFP from the scene of the arson that at least 20 shops had been looted and vandalised and that at least four churches had been burned to the ground.

I understand now.
The Muslim masses that scream 'Death to America', idolize Osama, and make Mein Kampf a perennial best seller in the Islamic world don't really mean it...they're just terrified of the barbaric punishments in store for them if they don't do such things.
They're really just like us and share the same beliefs and values.

Which raises an interesting question. How explicit does a report of such neo-Nazism from other countries have to be before it also runs afoul of the German law? Was this allowed because it was in English? Where is the line? Otherwise, the law could be circumvented simply by reporting such messages as foreign protests, and setting them up as such.

Hitler was no stranger to radical Islam. Read here about Arafart's uncle, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem who was fast friends with Hilter and Goerring and shared the vision of murdering every last Jew.

While in Baghdad, Syria al-Husseini aided the pro-Nazi revolt of 1941. He then spent the rest of World War II as Hitler's special guest in Berlin, advocating the extermination of Jews in radio broadcasts back to the Middle East and recruiting Balkan Muslims for infamous SS "mountain divisions" that tried to wipe out Jewish communities throughout the region.

Below are excerpts from, Howard Sachar's book A History of Israel that relates the historical sequence of events leading to the Mufit of Jerusalem, Haj Muhammad Amin al Husseini, becoming a close ally of Hitler's.

Starts p.(195)

The Italian campaign for influence in the Moslem world was shrewdly reinforced by Nazi Germany. Hitler may have evinced little enthusiasm for projecting German territorial claims into the eastern Mediterranean; it was understood that the Middle East was Italy’s sphere of expansion. But it was the Führer’s intention to erode the Allied position in a region widely considered to be the very pivot of Anglo-French imperial and defensive power. By 1935, therefore, the Nazi propaganda bureau was subsidizing a wide variety of Middle Eastern courses, institutes, and journals, and spending millions of marks on the ‘educational’ activities of German cultural and press attachés in the Islamic world. Beginning in 1938, the newly equipped German radio station at Seesen transmitted propaganda to the Middle East in all the languages of the area (except, of course, Hebrew). Combined with the broadcasts of radio Bari and Spain’s Radio Sevilla, these programs won a large and appreciative reception in the Arab world. So did the ‘goodwill’ visits to the Middle East of eminent Nazi figures, among them Dr. Hjalmar Schacht and Baldur von Shirach.

One particularly successful Axis technique of winning favor among the Arabs had its basis in ideology. German journalists and diplomats constantly drew parallels between Naxi Pan-Germanism and ‘the youthful power of Pan-Arab nationalism [which] is the wave of the Arab future.’ More significantly, the Arabs were reminded of the enemies they shared in common with the Nazis. Even in the mid-1930s, when Berlin exercised a certain restraint in ventilating its animosity against Britain and France, Nazi German diplomats evinced no hesitation whatever in publicizing the Nazi anti-Jewish campaign. Hardly a German Arabic-Language newspaper or magazine appeared in the Middle East without a sharp thrust against the Jews. Reprints of these strictures were widely distributed by the [Jerusalem] Mufti’s Arab Higher Committee. Upon introducing the Nuremberg racial laws in 1935, therefore, Hitler received telegrams of congratulation and praise from all corners of the Arab world.

193 scaramouche  Sat, Feb 18, 2006 10:23:13am

And the sign said
"God Bless Hitler"--
Need any more be said?
'Cause they'd all be real delighted
If the Jews all dropped down dead.
And they're all so pissed
About the 'toons of their man,
Mo the Pro.
That they think that there's a reason
To tell us where to go.

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign.
Mucking up the scenery,
Speakin' their mind:
Don't do this, don't do that,
Can't you read the sign?

And the sign said
"We'll give you a REAL Holocaust"--
As if the last were faux.
'Cause that guy down there in Tehran
He's really in the know.
But don't you call it jihad
When it's all just blasphemy.
So, please, try to tread softly,
And pretend that you're still free.

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign.
Mucking up the scenery,
Speakin' their mind:
Don't do this, don't do that,
Can't you read the sign?

Charles,

Enough is enough! It's time we start putting this cartoon Jihad in it's proper place.

We should start to get the LGF minions in a massive effort of gathering examples of Arab media cartoon artwork that offends or attacks the west. Put them all side by side agaist the Danish artwork to show the true stark differences in thier meaning and inte

Over the years I have seen many examples appear on LGF of cartoons much more grotesque and offensive than what people are rioting about in arab countries. No once have I seen anyone in the west raise a single organized objection to these cartoons from the arab media.

Completely O/T:

I recently watched The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, which was directed by and stars Tommy Lee Jones and also stars Barry Pepper and really recommend it. No high speed chases, big fight scenes or explosions but a good, solid, interesting movie. Some people might be offended by the depiction of the U.S. Border Patrol but I don't think that that was the point of the movie.

Anyway, if you want to see a pretty good movie, I recommend The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.

Oh, for cryin' out loud...Can we just go ahead and have the g.d. war, already?

Let's be careful what we wish for, shall we? There's no doubt whatsoever that most of us envision the inevitable, sooner than later. The question being begged is are we as a collective democracy prepared for the consequences and sacrifices? This will not be an armchair theater conflict. It will be brutal, and most likely protracted. It will impact every American, Israeli, European, Canadian, Australian (etc.) life like nothing any of us born post-early-twentieth-century has seen the likes of. Lifestyles, values and creature comforts for many will be altered forever into the foreseeable future. Unthinkable alliances will most likely be forged, and former neighbors will probably find themselves as enemies. Global conflict tends to have that effect, and history demonstrates that. Am I implying a doomsday scenario? No. Am I questioning whether or not all of the free peoples of the world have the intestinal fortitude to see through to the bitter end another humanitarian clash of epic proportions? Absolutely.

If I may indulge in some quotations from an old warrior:

It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted with the evils of war that can thoroughly understand the profitable way of carrying it on.
The art of war is of vital importance to the State. It is a matter of life and death, a road either to safety or to ruin. Hence it is a subject of inquiry which can on no account be neglected

Yet on the flipside -

Though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.

-Sun Tzu, the Art of War

"Our leaders should prepare themselves to lead."

Dream on. The West needs a Churchill, and it doesn't have one. I say Churchill instead of, say, Roosevelt, because Britain's back was up against the wall in 1940, and for most of 1941 (and America's wasn't), and it had only itself to rely upon (yeah, we had Lend-Lease and all, but we were not yet committed to the defense of Britain when Churchill rose to the occasion and showed some balls; which, had he not done so, would have finished Britain, and thus, Europe).

We need that kind of steely-eyed leadership now. I like GWB, and he's done some good things, but he needs to lay the cards on the table and rally the country, and he hasn't done that. Maybe he can't do that, what with the treason of the Dims and the MSM. And I do mean treason, because it is nothing short of that.

Today, the picture has changed to crop out the gas train. Compare yesterday's picture with today's picture. Maybe they figured they were showing too much?

Endress+Hauser operates an office in Tehran. Nice to see the evidence that they are helping out with the nuclear program.

Well, knock me over with a feather, Al Qaeda has standards. Who knew?

An al-Qaeda planning document that lays out the structure of the organization says the qualifications for being a supervisor at a terrorist training camp include two years of service in a jihadi struggle, a high school degree, some scientific and military knowledge and "sobriety."

I think I'll apply. I've read "A Brief History of Time" and most of Tom Clancy's novels, don't drink and, oh bloody hell, wouldn't you know, they want prior experience.

Isn't that always the way? You can't get a job because you don't the experience and you can't get the experience because you don't have a job.

I'm sure this just represents the opinions of a few rogue radicals. Pakistan, like Saudi Arabia, is a staunch ally in the War on Terror. (NOT a war on Islam, per Our President!)

There sure seem to be a lot of signs printed in English at these demonstrations. Seems strange to me, especially since the United States and GB had nothing to do with this "blasphemy".

279 tigger2005  Sat, Feb 18, 2006 11:44:47am

It's nice to see the ACLU is calling for the reinstatement of the Illini students who were removed from their newspaper positions after publishing the Mohammed cartoons. However, it's infuriating to read obligatory crap like this:

"While we certainly understand the sensitivities surrounding the publication of explosive and controversial content,"

(The cartoons were published in EGYPT months ago and caused no stir whatsoever)

"It has been the long-standing belief of the ACLU that the best response to speech we find odious and noxious is more speech - not less."

(Oh, I see. These cartoons were just as bad as Nazi and white supremacist hate speech. But as we defended the right of the Nazis to march in Skokie, we need to defend ALL speech, no matter how disgusting it may be!)

"We understand that the publication of the anti-Muslim cartoons presents vexing issues for a democracy, but we also believe that that is the price of an open society,"

(Anti-Muslim cartoons? How exactly are these cartoons "anti-Muslim?" Muslims DO blow themselves up in crowds of innocent people in the name of Allah! Mohammed WAS a violent man, and large numbers of his followers emulate his example! All these two cartoons--the rest are completely innocuous--do is hold a mirror up to Muslims and ask them to reflect on WHY others see them as violent. They are not "anti-Muslim" by any means. I wouldn't see a cartoon that criticized the U.S. for its high rate of gun violence as "anti-American.")

No one can deny the success of freedom, but some men rage and fight against it. And one of the main sources of reaction and opposition is radical Islam -- the perversion by a few of a noble faith into an ideology of terror and death.

BTW,
once again, if GWB tells the truth, Islam is a death cult, Mohammad was a killer, liar and pedophile, well, things get ugly for our troops in a hurry in Iraq and Afghanistan, our embassies in almost every Muslim nation on the planet gets over-run and burned, American tourists and workers in the Muslim world would be murdered by the thousands, and Saudi Arabia probably cuts off the oil.

About the last part, sure, the US can invade Saudi Arabia to seize the oil fields, but they'll have to kill all the Muslims within a large radius, as the US doesn't have a big enough ground Army to occupy Saudi Arabia.

GWB is trying to wipe out the terrorists without having to fight the entire Muslim world at once.

A lot fewer US troops die that one, for one thing.

Accordingly, by praising Hitler, these women in the burqas are declaring their allegiance to Zionism. What brave gals! I'm amazed they had the courage to preach Zionism at a muslim rally. For their sakes, i sure hope nobody noticed :>)

Muslim protest organizers make the signs in English because they are playing to the west and want us to be able to read the signs. I've seen protest signs, in English, in Pakistan, Malaysia, etc. This is quite common.

I just came back online and read your comment

The discussion was about the posters being in English and also their disconnnect with the concept of free speech etc.

I was referring to something someone had said which puts in stark contrast our acceptance of free speech and our enemies' cluelessness about it.

I don't think I am under any delusion that they do not fiercely believe the whole lying mess. In fact I think they would need cult deprogrammers to escape.

Hitler wouldn't have liked these Muslims either.

bloggledygook.com says he did more than dislike them:

A Muslim cultural institute in Germany on Monday criticised Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for disparaging the Holocaust, daring him to visit the Auschwitz concentration camp. "In this place of horror he can again deny the Holocaust, if he has the courage," a spokesman for the Islam-Archiv-Deutschland Central Institute told the German Catholic press agency KNA. In recent statements, the hardline Iranian president has dismissed the Nazis’ systematic slaughter of mainland Europe’s Jews as a "myth" used to justify the creation of Israel and called for the state to be "wiped off the map". By denying the Holocaust, Ahmadinejad not only denigrated the Jewish victims of the genocide but also the 200,000 Roms and Arabs murdered in the "gypsy camp" of Auschwitz-Birkenau and other camps, the institute spokesman said. The fact that the president of an Islamic state repeated Nazi anti-Semitism was harmful to the image of Islam and "a disgrace for all the world’s Muslims", he added. The Berlin-based institute, founded in 1927, is the oldest Muslim body in Germany.

Trouble Ed is that it is not working out that way with the various parts of Persian and Arabist Islam not only at war with us, Israel, the West and soon with each other...I do not see a way out of the "Bomb Party" at Robert Ringer would put it.

This war will come and come soon..sooner than you think...and wee will see different forms of Islam attack us here in our own land far exceeding 9/11. With 160,000 troops in Iraq in the crucible that will soon be a general and then a nuclear war, I hope we have a retreat or bunker strategy to ride it out.

It will be a come as you are war and before it is done all I can see hundreds of millions dead in M.E. and lesser millions dead in the West. All around will be wrecked economies.

Bush as a war leader has been lacking because he has hemmed and hawed about the enemy because our troops are in the midst of it and the enemy is here on own soil, too. This war will be fought on all continents before it is over.

328 EE  Sat, Feb 18, 2006 5:07:33pm

I understand exactly what is meant by the sign "God Bless Hitler", at this Islamist rally in Pakistan. Those Germans who pretend not to understand what is going on are the descendants of those who claimed that they did not understand the program of Hitler and the Nazis, who saw nothing, who heard nothing, who understood nothing, and who therefore were innocent, in their own minds.

Meanwhile, over in Iran, there are the Mahdaviat Nazis, who want to slaughter the Jews of Israel by nuclear genocide, in order to bring about the coming of the Mahdi.

The Mahdaviat Nazis have captured the imagination of many Islamists in the ummah, and this "God Bless Hitler" is an echo of that Mahdaviat Nazi program in Iran.

"Hitler", in this echo, stands for two people: the original Hitler, who took 6 years to carry out genocide against the Jews of his continent; and it also stands for Ahmadinejad, who is moving to be able to carry out genocide against the millions of Jews of Israel in just an afternoon's work, by means of nuclear genocide.

Ah, yes. But in truth, it was not that unusual, historically. Ancient Greece, ancient Rome, not so ancient Arabia.

I've seen a number of Greek art sites that prominently display "for kids," and museums sometimes have Greek art "kid's rooms," and not just because the figures are usually unclothed. It's to avoid "Mommy, what is that man doing with that boy" questions.
