CAIR Defended KindHearts

Sun, Feb 19, 2006 at 9:52:45 am PST

Steven Emerson has been looking into the Hamas-linked NGO Kind Hearts for Charitable Human Development, whose assets were frozen today by the US Treasury, for quite some time.

In the December 14, 2005 edition of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, here’s how the Council on American-Islamic Relations responded to an article about KindHearts and Emerson—by completely ignoring facts and attacking Emerson as an “Islamophobe:” Plain Dealer’s terrorism ‘expert’ has noted bias.

The Dec. 6 front-page story on the Muslim charity KindHearts was biased. The article purports to discuss “suspicious connections” between KindHearts and other now-closed Muslim charities, citing the fact that KindHearts’ chief executive once worked for Global Relief. The article, rife with innuendo and guilt by association, is based almost entirely on the work of Steven Emerson, a reckless and biased self-styled terrorism expert.

Emerson has been ridiculed by journalists and reviewers who write for the New Yorker, the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, etc. Even the former director of counterterrorism for the CIA, Vincent Cannistraro, has discredited Emerson.

Given this background, why does The Plain Dealer insist on being Emerson’s cheerleader? Why continue to hold the megaphone for him?

Emerson is an Islamophobe and an anti-Arab bigot on a personal grand inquisition. His work is often touted on virulently hateful anti-Islam Web sites. Yet The Plain Dealer continues to lend Emerson credence by providing spacious platforms for his hunches, complete with charts and graphs.

A story that employs his sham expertise is, from the outset, hopelessly skewed. Surely the paper can be more judicious in choosing its sources.

When you've got no facts, just scream "racist."

Run that through the CAIR-to-English translator, and you get "He's on to us, so, a fatwah on his head."

The CPD should be equally judicious when listening to it's critics.

I'm not fond of Islamic radicals, so I guess I'm an Islamophobe too.

5 FrogMarch  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 7:59:56am

CAIR is just a front group for radical Islam.

Sort of like the ACLU is just a front group for radical Marxist-Totalitarians.

Time for the kind hearts to become bleeding hearts.

LOL!

It needs a special program because running CAIR's Newspeak through Babelfish only results in goobledegook.

When any member of the LLL or Lamestream Media start to whine about somebody or some organization being "biased", you have to wonder if they're looking in a mirror.

Hey, they're so blind they can't even recognize their own reflection!

Lets just hope that more people will read Emerson because CAIR does not like him.
If CAIR just kept their mouths shut and concentrated on lining up funding for terrorist groups, fewer people would pay any attention to them. But they want the best of both worlds, raise funds and raise hell with people trying to expose them. Bad combination, because after a while the American public will get wise.

You must be one of those bigoted racist islamophobe hate mongers.

Nice to be in good company!

Anyone who saw Inside 9/11 on the National Geographic Channel could see plain as day that Steven Emerson is no right-wing whacko.

CAIR, you've been exposed.

13 Jheka  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 8:05:35am

They are going after Emerson the way that they went after and smeared Daniel Pipes. Just gives him credence in my eyes.

Does this constitute grounds for Emerson to sue CAIR for libel?

They've seen how other pressure groups, like the ACLU, NOI, MALDEF, and Revrennnnd Jacksonnnn's "Rainbow Coalition" have bullied their way into prominence and monetary success, so why wouldn't they use the same tactics?

16 Captain Hate  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 8:21:04am

This is out of character for the Pain Squealer, which is almost completely composed of quislings and moonbats. A groveling apology should be shortly forthcoming.

17 ajackson  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 8:21:25am

CAIR defending a charity fronting for a Paleo terrorist group?! Say it ain't so!

18 Obi-wan  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 8:22:08am

Kind Hearts for Charitible Development.

Are they anything like the "Agrarian Reformers" that conquered China in 1946?

19 Judith  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 8:27:51am

Montreal Muslim News does this with Steven Pipes too. Whenever his name comes up they always preface it with "noted extreme Islamophobe neocon proZionist". (No bias here.)

Steven Pipes? Is he related to Daniel Pipes?

21 Beagle  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 9:08:31am

Claims of "anti-Arab" or "anti-Muslim" bias seem particularly strange in the United States. I didn't learn what a Muslim was until the Iranians captured our embassy staff. "Arab" always meant something along the lines of Sinbad until terrorism came along.

Arab/Muslims could not have done a worse job introducing themselves to America.

22 Millie Woods  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 9:15:51am

CAIR should be on its knees apologizing till the end of eternity for the Islamic role in murdering three thousand innicents on 9/11. In fact all the friends and relatives of these innocents will grieve for the rest of their days for their lost ones.
Is there Islamaphobia in the land? Well if there isn't there should be because CAIR and the other whining and complaining Islamic entities have never acknowledged their world wide murderous campaigns against non-Islamics.
Slaughtering Israelis, beheading Christian schoolgirls in Indonesia and Buddhist monks in Thailand as well as Christians in Nigeria and animists in Darfur, the brutal thuggery goes on and with it complaints about cartoons in Danish newspapers. Cartoons - not beheadings or mass slaughter.
Yes we are or should certainly be Islamophobic and you CAIR and your co-religionists have only yourselves to blame for that situation.

Exactly.

Steve Emerson is an Islamophobe? I thought he was a Muslim.

"Spacious" platforms? Don't they mean "specious"?

Methinks they need to spend "alot" more time at the "libary" under the "foilage"... or something...

29 EddieP  Sun, Feb 19, 2006 3:23:18pm

Damn right I'm an Islamophobe! Proud of it. IMHO, CAIR is a terrorist organization that should be banned in the USA.

30 Timbre  Thu, Feb 23, 2006 4:29:28am

The 2003 issue of the Muslim Directory has the entire back cover with a KindHearts ad. The ad begins:

"Good Education for a Better Nation

The Palestinian people have miraculously endured decades of brutal occupation (emphasis mine), poverty and economic devastation! Now you can give them what they need most to make a new start in life:

Good Education.

At KindHearts we offer a variety of programs that serve to encourage and support education among Palestinian children and youth." (etc.)

I should have known that a charity which speaks of "brutal occupation" had a political (terrorist) slant!
