ACLU Wants More Abu Ghraib

Wed, Apr 12, 2006 at 9:30:34 am PDT

The ACLU isn’t finished wringing the propaganda juices out of the Abu Ghraib scandal: ACLU Pursuing More Abu Ghraib Prisoner Photos. (Hat tip: LawHawk.)

A civil liberties group on Tuesday demanded the release of more pictures of U.S. soldiers and detainees after the government acknowledged it had only one new Abu Ghraib prison picture because the rest were already public.

Hours after the acknowledgement by the Department of Defense, the American Civil Liberties Union said the government must now turn over 29 more photographs and two videotapes related to the treatment of detainees in U.S. custody.

ACLU lawyer Amrit Singh said the organization learned of the images, apparently not taken at Abu Ghraib, when the Army turned over documents late last year in response to an ACLU lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

“It became apparent to us there were no grounds for holding additional abuse pictures,” she said, noting that the judge presiding over the case had issued a strongly worded opinion saying the public had a right to detainee abuse images.

I am constantly embarrassed by what the ACLU types want to do to the US.
If there is ever an uprising by the middle class in this country, I hope the first victims will be the ACLU attorneys.

3 TotallySirius  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:33:50am

How the hell does the ACLU even have a legal standing in this affair?

Last time I checked Abu Grab was still in Bagdad.

4 Rednek  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:33:53am

Can't get enough, can they. Their appetite is large, and I fail to see any good that will come from the ACLU on this matter.

5 religion of bacon  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:33:58am

I'm starting the think that the left has some sort of weird fetish for Abu Ghraib photos...

Send them pics of cartoons.

7 Kragar (proud to be kafir)  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:34:54am

Meanwhile, they would be screaming over the "victims right to privacy" if anyone even hinted releasing any other 9/11 tapes or videos.

8 Ward Cleaver  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:35:23am

Aren't their left arms tired yet?

Wonderful

We have a right to see the Abu Grab pictures but we don't have a right to defend our borders.

God have mercy on us all.

here's a thought...

why don't we ship the "entire" ACLU staff to Abu and Guantanamo?

Did everyone at AG have a camera and did they all take paictures of abuse?
Or will any faked photo do?

15 Spiny Norman  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:36:46am

Why isn't the ACLU demanding that all the crime scene photos of Ted Bundy's victims be released? The public has a right to know, doesn't it? So what if he's already been convicted (and executed).

Makes about as much sense.

16 Kosh's Shadow  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:37:04am

This explains why the ACLU (or maybe it should be al-cu) is too busy to fight against the government-subsidized mosque being built in Boston.

I'm starting the think that the left has some sort of weird fetish for Abu Ghraib photos...

Many of the more severe cases of BDS still believe they can use them to "bring down the neocon Bush Regime!".

I agree !

MORE ABU GHRAIB ! MORE ABU GHRAIB !

And as soon as we get recycle bin laden we operate him and we make an exotic dancer of . . .her !

Just as hackers are mentally undeveloped folks who delight in using their limited knowledge to inconvenience those of us trying to do real work, the ACLU appears to consist of equally mentally limited lawyers who actually believe their drivel. Civil liberties, eh? Take a look at our universities ACLU. The organization is a joke.

Capt. Queeg (#13),

Or will any faked photo do?

If you're the Boston Globe:

Any faked photo will do.

The source for the photos may have been the hard-core-porn Web site IraqBabes, which offered "exclusive shocking sex in war videos," featuring "real soldiers" and "Iraq women."

And they'll splash them across the front page too.

27 RaiderDan  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:47:53am

Lets see, booming economy, rising stock market, 9-11 terrorists getting put to death and Americans reminded of Al Qaeda threat,
N.Y. Times obviously needs more ABU GHIRAB! photos to run on the front page. Gotta give the moonbats their liberal porn fix.

28 Ed Mahmoud abu al Qahool Martyr Brigades  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 7:49:11am

It pretty much is a given that the leaders of the ACLU are fully aware the ACLU is a communist front group, dedicated to the destruction of the American capitalist system, and that the ACLU has many supporters who sincerely believe that "The Christian Taliban" is a greater threat to their liberty than the real Taliban was.

Now, once the government is weakened enough so that the Muslims do gain a stronger foothold in America, do the leaders of the ACLU really think lawsuits are going to stop the sharia, which will limit their liberties to unlimited pornography, prostitution and drug use a lot more than John Ashcroft would on his worst day.?.?

I suspect the atheist Marxists, campaigning for abortion and gay rights will probably be lined up for Islamic justice ahead of the Christians for certain, and maybe even the Jews.

ACLU = AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union, so IMHO they have no say in what took place at Abu Graib, Iraq. FOAD communist toads.

The ACLU and thier fellow travelers on the left have absolutly no clue that if they get thier wish and America folds, the religous police are comming for them first.

At least we'll have that consolation.

Yes, yes. We will [deleted, deleted, deleted, deleted, deleted, deleted] with the ACLU, followed by the rest of the communists and Anti-Americans; when the next civil war starts.

More cowbell!

35 scott in east bay  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:03:41am

Sadly for the ACLU and their friends, every time they post more "abuse" photos, even more Americans don't care. The ACLU doesn't seem to realize that the overwhelming majority of Americans were not particularly phased by these photos. "Humiliation" is not torture. (And hint to the ACLU: there's really much better bondage porn out there. Why don't you go look for some, since you seem to be obsessed with it).

36 Dirk Diggler  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:05:40am

These Abu Ghraib threads are boring.

I mean how many times can we rehash this issue among ourselves? Everything worthwhile on this issue has been posted 10,000 times by now.

37 amyc  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:08:27am

31 BGB and Ed. It's what amazes me the most about the whole thing. Yes, they would have been the ones elevated by a Marxist takeover, but that opportunity has passed them by. For such smart people, they sure haven't caught on to current events too well.

I also think they have to be turning people off with every Abu Graib photos campaign. It's not like everybody hasn't heard about it by now.

38 rabidsquirrel  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:10:28am

It's not surprising at all. As Ward Cleaver and AI noted, the left has quite the sociopathic fetish for such photos. It's what passes for pornography on the left, though they don't recognize the term. The more photos, the louder, and therefore more pleasing, the leftist circle-jerk becomes.

39 Geepers  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:13:20am

Dirk Diggler (#36),

Well if you use number of stories in the NY Times as a guide, the last I saw it was 200 plus stories, 75 on their front page.

This is the most important news story of the century.

40 Name The Enemy  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:13:41am

Does anyone find it the least bit ironic that an organization whose charter is to protect our right to freedom and our civil liberties is doing their damnest to help those who wish to destroy freedom and liberty?

I didn't think so. NTE: The ACLU

41 don't be that guy  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:17:04am

The aclu and its ilk, is insatible in their pursuit of perceived evil. God bless thier baby eyes, They think they are doing great and noble work to expose "the truth", they are actually non productive and a hinderance to any real progress. Okay, They are amusing at times and you know what? Once they are house broken, They make good pets.

hmm, Tweazers

42 Geepers  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 8:20:16am

The image has shocked, sickened and outraged people. But more importantly, it has captured the imagination of young men and women all around the world who don't give much of a shit about anything. The result is a new craze called "doing a Lynndie". If you aren't "doing a Lynndie" now, you soon will be.

So what does doing a Lynndie involve? Here are the basic instructions:

1. Find a victim who deserves to be "Lynndied".

2. Make sure you have a friend nearby with a camera ready to capture the "Lynndie".

3. Stick a cigarette (or pen) in your mouth and allow it to hang slightly below the horizontal.

4. Face the camera, tilt your upper body slightly forward but lean back on your right leg.

5. Make a hitchhiking gesture with your right hand and extend your right arm so that it's in roughly the same position as if you were holding a rifle.

6. Keeping your left arm slightly bent, point in the direction of the victim and smile.

Ideally, you should refrain from telling the victim what you're about to do. Victims who are unaware, bemused or angry make for a Lynddie that is more in keeping with the original.

Speaking of anti-American Leftists, DU asks the question:

How Soon do You Expect American Society to Collapse?

Depends on a) How soon the Republicans blow it by in-house bickering and capitulation to the left (McCain/Kennedy, etc.), b) how effectively we protect the borders so that a nuclear-armed terrorist doesn't manage to cross the Rio Grande, and C) how effective the LLL and the MSM are at causing collapse from within.

47 Taqiyyotomist  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 10:06:45am

If they really want more Abu Ghraib, why don't they just sneak another couple of San-Fran, whips-and-chains S&M sexnuts through the Don't Ask, Don't Tell system and let them pursue jobs that are in line with their, need I say, liberal , sexual 'preferences', where they can finally fulfill whatever sick fantasies they've spent many a night in a fake dungeon acting out.

Hey it worked once, so I hear.

Does anyone know what Lyndie England's politics were, pre-war? Just curious.

48 Spiny Norman  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 10:42:46am

Jay777,

Did you email Charles the story? Apparently Lawhawk did, and Charles must have seen that first.

I can't tell you how many times I was the first to post a link for something here and not gotten a hat tip. I really don't care and neither should you. Just be glad that it's getting exposure.

49 Spiny Norman  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 10:44:08am

Crap. Sorry Jay777, belay that. I thought you were fishing for a hat tip.

My mistake.

50 edr  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 11:17:31am

Hmmm.

I frankly suggest we petition the US Congress to add another 30 years to the sentences of the idiots that took the photos.

And to forcibly induct their lawyers into the US military and station them for the next 20 years in the Aleutian Islands.

51 jimgoism  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 11:23:07am

The ACLU has proven one thing

It is activly working to
Destroy Americas efforts in the midddle east
Then Humiliate all americans world wide.
Finally hoping for the FALL and DESTRUCTION
of the United states of America

The aclu needs to be outlawed
NOW

And all Members either deported or SHOT..

Nah, this isn't mainstreaming BDSM.
a) BDSM has been getting into the mainstream since Bettie Page.
b) REAL BDSM has at it's core this mantra of "Safe, Sane, and Consensual". (i.e. everything's done without causing real harm, and with permission in advance).

The ACLU wants the AG photos because real BDSM isn't hardcore enough for them. They've got to get that edge from unwilling victims, otherwise it just doesn't have the same juice.

Same goes for the kiddie porn they protect.

53 Terp Mole  Wed, Apr 12, 2006 12:52:20pm

Speaking of sexual torture, another grand tournante strikes in Londonistan;

Two jailed for teen's gang rape

TWO illegal immigrants have been jailed for their part in the sickening gang rape of a Blackpool teenager.
---
The girls were plied with more drink until one of the men, known only as Kamal, took the victim to an attic room and threw her on to a mattress on the floor.
