The noisy demonstration outside Forest Gate police station was contained within a police pen opposite. Protestors waved placards against police tactics and shouted: "Hands off Muslims. Tony Blair is a terrorist and Tony Blair, watch your back."

Three steps that should be taken as quickly as possible in cases like this:

Arrest, deport, repeat as often as necessary.

When I was a student in London in 1977 I lived in Forest Gate. The neighborhood was working-class but safe, neat and friendly. The man downstairs from me was a Portuguese immigrant who passionately loved everything British; one night he presented a tin of steamed lemon pudding and a box of Bird's custard sauce for me to try. My other neighbors used to tell me stories about living through the Blitz. I ate at an ancient fish & chips place right across from the station, run by an elderly widow and her son; I bought narcissus from the flower seller who always tipped his hat. It's the resilient Londoners of Forest Gate who made me fall in love with Britain.

I returned 15 years later, just before GW I. The only clue I was in the same place was the sign at the train station. My house had met the wrecking ball. The fish & chips place was a curry shop. The whole neighborhood was a mess. I don't scare easily, but for the first and only time in England, I felt not only like a stranger, but as if I were in hostile territory.

So I'm not surprised FG is the site of these demonstrations. I guess I shouldn't be surprised at what a deep sense of loss I feel.

That's precisely my point. We're not fighting it, because too many people don't believe that there is an imminent clash of cultures. They believe that the Muslims are peaceful. That's the way the Muslims are supposed to keep it until they don't have to. By coming out on the offensive this early, all the people not in the game before will begin re-thinking this whole "multiculturalism" thing. It would be a great thing to outlaw the masks in the USA. I thought they were but it might be religious expression and thus protected. But as a basic thing, that would really cool things down. also threats of violence need to be investigated. If I threatened the President or a public official, I would be hauled off for questioning. I know it in my bones. Also, I'd expect to trip a few times on my way into the cell block, too.

When I was in the UK (years ago), the police (and actually, all the British people) were unfailingly polite and helpful. I was really impressed with the professionalism of the police while I was there. They had a way of giving orders without seeming to be doing so, which kept things cool and calm.

At the same time, everywhere I went, men from the ME hit on me. Mark me on this - it was ME men who did this, and I'm not making it up. Not Israeli men. Not Brits. Not the French. ME men. It got old fast.

I suspect the British people are still polite and the police are still professional. However, I'll bet the police have a much harder job now than they did then. And I would not be surprised if the men from the ME are still hitting on American women (I could be wrong).

Who has the political courage to do this?
I am all for immigration, when done properly. The door should be wide open to those who want to come here, work hard, and live peaceably among us respecting and adopting the values of liberal democracy. It's one thing to tolerate differences, and quite another to put up with subversion. Why is it that Non-Moslem immigrants fit in so well here? Ever heard of Chinese, Korean, Hindu, terrorists? when was the last time you heard Koreans demanding that we become West korea?
If the Moslem countries they left were so bad that they felt compelled to leave, then why do they want to re-establish their system here? Our so-called political leadership needs to get its head out of its collective ass and wake up.
The Mozzies that are here need to decide once and for all which side of the fence they are on, and straddling the middle doesn't count. So called moderate Moslems are too quiet. It calls into question whether there's room for Islam in the west. Too many new mosques going up, and given what we know is being taught in some, we'd better act before its too late.

The Times has missed something by describing al Ghurabaa as "followers of Alh us-Sunnah Wal Jamaa". Ahl us-Sunnah Wal Jamaa is a very loaded term used by Salafis to mean the one true band of Muslims that will survive the final war, used as a rallying call and a position of superiority over everybody else, who they roundly denounce.

When I see somthing like that I can't help thinking Pepper Spray and lots of it would solve the problem.
