You can tell that this photo is a fake. Look at the way the light strikes Godzilla. The sunlight wraps around his shoulder all the way to the back almost. Now look carefully at the buildings behind him. Some of those buildings have the same attitude as Godzilla, but the light is not striking them the same way and their facades are darker. Definitely a fake.

OT -- Just got back to Mobile, AL from a trip to New Orleans by car on I-10.

The east side coming in on I-10 is incredibly depressing at gorund level -- literally MILES of abandoned or barely touched homes, apartments and commercial areas, a freakish ghost town worthy of the Omega Man but for the lack of skyscrapers.

Of interest to LGFers... I found the graveyard of most of the flooded city buses.
This is on I-10 east of downtown about midway between the giant bridge over the ship canal that connects the Mississippi and the lake, and the turn off to Chalmette.

At the lower left you can see two buses in the satellite photo. In person there are HUNDREDS crammed bumper to bumper in the lot contasining the two in the photo and in the lot between the next two lower buildings.

The French Quarter and St. Charles Garden DIstrict areas are doing pretty well, although the unwarranted shortage of tourists is notable, and is a big problem holding back economic recovery. So go to the Big Easy if you can.

I was an old school photographer. Crop when you take the picture, not in the darkroom, never stage or set up a picture, and try not to be intrusive. Most importantly, never, ever, skew the story.

Sad to say this is a long gone philosophy.
