Better than the four seconds accorded by O'Reilly to discuss this last night.

And another thing, why does Fox split the screen and put on that very pale LLL woman every time Michelle shows up? She's too hot to share the screen, IMHO.

Wow! First time in the top five!

Michelle is so on it.

If anyone wants to run with this I have a pretty obvious example of sensationalizing a photo.

Reuters ran this Hajj photo on July 17. In caption says the Hezbo fighter was standing in front of the carnage following an air strike. I found another picture of the same guy attributed to another Reuter's photographer. But he just calls it a fire.

US News used almost the same picture on a cover a few weeks back. While's Hajj's photo shows the fighter crouched down as if under attack, the US News cover shows the guy standing very casually.

But when you look close at the 8 1/2 x 11 cover you see the guy is posing in front of burning tires at a dump.

I guess the IAF could have bombed the dump and the Hezbos were expecting a commando raid to follow, but it is highly unlikely.

The photos, screenshots and US News Cover are here.

If you want an 18 mb high res scan of the US News cover I can get it to anyone who is interested. I don't have time to make this an issue so if anyone wants to run with it have fun. Email me if you are interested in the high res image.

Michelle got slammed the other day by Neal Gabler, the arguementive moonbat on Media Watch. She must be doing real damage to cause Neal's bile to rise to the surface.

OT - but not far off

****warning graphic images ********

Reflections of Green Helmet in Qana, here a man holds up a dead baby for photographs.

But note that the caption admits he is holding it up.

A Lebanese youth shows the body of a baby after it was recovered under debris of a destroyed building

Here the ghoul holds it even higher so everyone can get a look.

The Ballad of Chucky J (updated)

There once were a biker named Chuck
A seaworthy blogger with pluck
He gathered a crew
Minions like me and you
And set sail with a kiss fer good luck

Stormy waters he ventured to cruise
Armed with right and but nothing to lose
"Keep their feet to the fire!"
He'd preach to the choir
And keep a weather eye on all breaking news

There were times when the lubbers did moan
At the truth they were bein' a shown
With a fire in their eyes
They would claim he told lies
But the transgressions they knew were their own

After time the crew gathered in force
It be the result of right thinking - of course
(And a little night raid
on scurvy Rather he paid)
Which shined light on his reasoned discourse

And al-Reuters, too, has seen his panache
Its Photoshop lies now be known
So take note newsie lads
When ye' think to do bad
Ye' will reap everything that ye've sown

Now the blogosphere scans his horizon
For they know that he ain't compromisin'
Al-Jazeera and CAIR
Know they'd best be aware
He exposes their lies as they're risin'

So if its safe harbor ye seek
Just troll for a day or a week
Ye surely will find
A rummy fine mind
Just beware - his blog's not for the weak!

13 Ignorant Mensan  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 9:23:54am

DD,

Did you try the proper link?

If you don't have a video player you'll just see a blank box when it opens; that's Michelle's video Vent. If you can't access that, scroll down and there are other regular nonvideo links.

15 rcris5  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 9:27:09am

Michelle is such a rageous babe...oh and the expose was an eye opener too. But man what a hot looking messenger. Yes, smart and hard hitting journalist. Gosh, wonder how she would show off a sun dress....

I saw that same photo in US News and World,
The only News Magazine I read.

/US News and World Reports should ask Reuters for their money back.

No, no, no. Please don't try to turn Charles into a TV-ready pretty boy. We don't want him running around complaining about Wade's hairbrush and calling for "Makeup!"

Charles:

Little old to be sporting the pony-tail. I know it is hard to do, but should tighten that up...low-n-tight would give you the mature, hard core, former Marine fighter pilot look.

We may as well enjoy TV appearances from sane bloggers, since tommorow will be a banner day on the networks for the bug-eyed freak and others from the Kultursmogophere.

Be it actual victory or defeat, now known as moral victory.

What claims the attention of major media today is a phenomenon called Kultursmog. It is the popular culture of the United States, polluted utterly by a weird politics, a politics often called liberal but is actually simply leftish and adolescent. It has no fixed values or ideas other than to disturb the peace, which the legally attuned will recognize as a misdemeanor in most jurisdictions of the civilized world.
Kultursmog is a culture that mixes rock stars with fashion models and the ideas of Al Gore. Occasionally the smog actually includes the Hon. Al Gore, along with those other "rock star" personalities, the Clintons. The Kultursmog is always politically correct, ever sensitive to the Democratic National Committee's whims, and increasingly anti-intellectual.

Hey, y'all lay off Charles' hair. He can wear a ponytail if he wants. At least he has the hair to do it. Nothing worse than some lame combover dude with four strands on top and a ponytail in back.

low-n-tight would give you the mature, hard core, former Marine fighter pilot look.

Except that he's not a former Marine fighter pilot, he's a former rock musician.

Plus, it confuses the left when we don't look like their stereotype of us. That's why you should dress like a hippy when you go to rallys.

They are so much about conformity that if you don't look like their mental picture of you, they just might listen.

ibmkeyboard (#16),

And now I find out it is a picture of a burning trash dump.

US News and World Reports should ask Reuters for their money back.

But it's a DRAMATIC picture of a guy with a gun.

You don't think news photos should be accurate portrayals of events do you?

On the other hand, there are probably plenty of pictures free on the internet, if you're just going to publish crap and label it the way you want I suspect US News and World Reports could do better for their money.

Remember Occam's Razor? What is more likely?

For all those photos not to be staged you have to believe the IAF bombed the pile of tires, the photographers got there quick enough to take photos and the Hezbo fighter thought needed to take cover because the IDF was about to storm the dump. That a pretty long string of unlikely events.

Or, someone realized burning tires would make a good backdrop and invited the photographers to take the pictures.

If you were a photographer and someone told you to take a picture of them standing in front of a bunch of burning tires wouldn't you know or suspect you were being manipulated? If Beirut was so full of carnage wouldn’t you pass and take a picture somewhere else?

There is never going to be 100% proof of media manipulation. This is no where near 100%, but it is pretty persuasive. The photographers should no better.

35 kawfytawk  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 9:57:45am

I remember watching a special about the "flag raisers" (the infamous photo of the marines at mt surbachi (sp?))

In any case....the photographer was asked by his editor if the photo was staged. There was a mix up as the photographer thought he missed the "real shot" and took another. In any case....to make a long story short....They (both photographer and editor) were actually concerned about being truthful.

Where is this honesty now?

Nothing wrong with these pictures in the way of altering but it is interesting that one is for AFP and the other is Reuters and the photographer is different. One looks light spotlights was used and the other is completely dark.

OT Iran is worried that Zionists are construction man-made islands in the Persian Gulf. A translation from a Persian news article by a US Dept. of Commerce service:

While the first man-made island constructed by the Zionists in the Persian Gulf will be opened soon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran has not taken a clear stance in this regard yet.
Dr. Hasan Kamran, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majles, explained to our correspondent the measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran. "A committee composed of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Committee of the Majles has been established. The responsibility of this committee is to study the matter and try to find a method to confront this problem."
Kamran added: "In the following sessions, we decided that, even if we look at this move by the Emirates from an optimistic point of view and for tourism goals, it will still damage the ecosystem." He stated that not only do the construction companies for these islands belong to Zionist lobbies, but the buyers are selected by the constructors. He emphasized: "Iran is worried that this action is the result of a scenario that follows the geostrategy of the interfering forces of the region."

Ok, let me rephrase that...hard core former rock star, Marine Fighter pilot look.

You don't have to have been a fighter pilot; it's the look dude, the "look."

Now excuse me while I discipline my three year old girl for swiping my 9mm and trying to shoot the neighbors cats. Mommy-dad's work is never done ya know. It must be my pony tail.

48 cbinflux  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 2:11:34pm

Why cannot ONE TV channel take a couple of minutes to show the gist of these pictures?! Instead, the just blow right by, and go to the two or more arguing heads.

49 nofreelunch  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 3:41:38pm

MSM photo journalists are whores just like MSM word journalists (spoken and printed) except they use a camera instead of a microphone or keyboard to transmit their biased crap.

We all knew the media lied and cheated, but it wasn't until Gunga Dan did his thing that it was so blatantly obvious. Now we have the same thing with the photographers. Al Rooters, AP, et. al. can deny and stonewall all they want (Dan's still in denial 2 years later), but I assume anything coming from the MSM is biased crap.

The MSM got that reputation the old-fashioned way -- they earned it.

50 Blackacre  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 3:52:28pm

Great job, Michelle. I was drinking some coffee while watching it and really could have used a SPEW ALERT! when you got to that bit at the end with Jayson Blair, et al. Very funny.

The MSM crack-up just continues.

52 dak  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 5:55:08pm

Go Girl!

This should be required viewing for all journalism classes.

Oh, the MSM is sooooo busted. These lies have been going on for such a long time, but the means to propagate the huge scams were not avail.
