Way to go Zombie! I love reading your stuff! You find a way to lay out the facts in a straight forward manner that cannot be deined!

Keep it up!

Thanks Zombie and the rest of the bloggers out there who are finally exposing the charade that has been cast on journalism for the last 25 years.

Edward R Murrow thanks you !

I'm also amused and jump in Reuter's hits the last two days...do you want to bring that up in the MSM?

A terrific overview of the Reuters Photoshop Scandal

Not to nitpick, but it's not just about the Photoshop scandal! In fact, that's the whole point of the essay -- it's about how there is much more to the scandal than just Photoshop. That's the point we need to keep driving home!

12 shrew_tamer  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 8:03:29pm

I must say, that of all the anti-idiotarians out there, I use zombie's info the most in my footbound anti-jackass campaign.

Charles, as always, remains humble here; gives good and well deserved kudos to the 'Z' for the concise and great report on the episode.

Where else can you find this ?

Honest, clear, concise 'reportage' (sorry) about the occurrences/mis-steps/LIES by the MSM.

Mucho thanks, respect and love to you both !

18 zombie  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 8:07:35pm

Of course, like everyone in the middle of this situation, I'm totally overwhelmed with details and breaking stories and news tips. I apologize if I've fallen behind and left out some of the latest exposés! But the point of the page is that it's designed to be a permanent reference point, something that, months from now, people can link to as a comprehensive overview of the scandal. Thus far, all the blogs are bursting out with the scandal-du-heure (scandal-du minute, actually), but there's not place for a newbie to go and answer the question, "What the hell is this all about?"

So, feel free to send the link to folks that generally don't follow the blogs. That's who we need to educate. There's nothing on my page that everyone here doesn't already know.

19 Sam Spade  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 8:08:45pm

It makes you wonder how long MSM has been derelict. Is it only because of the Internet that the jig is finally up?

Zombie's reporting and analysis of the whole Fauxtography Fiasco is so clear and understandable.

Kudos to him and much appreciation.

Right on, Zombie! You're so correct, it is not just about photoslop. The important fact is that the MSM has been unmasked as naked propagandists. 41 Lady of Shalott (ylreveb)  Tue, Aug 8, 2006 8:33:09pm

I agree with Zombie: the point to ram home, repeatedly, and with EMPHASIS, is that the "news" out of the moslem ME is staged.

I still remember how shocking it was (and I'm pretty cynical as an ex-reporter) to see the photo of the rock-throwing Arab teenager and the crowd of 40 Western photographers surrounding him and snapping eagerly away. These aren't willing dupes; they're collaborators.

They are on the other side. We need to shave their heads, tar and feather them, and ride them out of town on a split rail.

Zombie, the last series of photos of the guy in the shorts... someone found a NYT caption that laid it out more clearly... that he fell and was being helped up by the other guy.

Y'know, I put a new-and-improved version of the Scrotum Man picture up on my site a couple months ago, and no one seems to have noticed. It wasn't a very clear picture to begin with (a bit blurry and grainy), but I made a bigger and higher-res version of the one you're all familiar with.

So, in case you're interested, meet Scrotum Man 2.0!

If the guy fell and was injured (he sure looks healthy and unmarked for either a "corpse" or an injured person!) why is he firmly clasping his baseball cap against his side with his elbow? Why is his head drooping sort of limply as if he were dead or at least unconscious? Why would someone attempting to "help" an injured man be pulling him up by the arm instead of tending to the alleged "injuries" or trying to stabilize possible back or neck injuries? Why would his feet be braced, and the muscles in his left leg tensed, as if bracing himself in the rubble?

Staged? Oh yeah...

58 hazzyday  Wed, Aug 9, 2006 1:40:59am

And these are just the most obvious fakes. There are people good out there with photoshop and lacking integrity. Any propoganda photos have to be distrusted.

59 Julio Jurenito  Wed, Aug 9, 2006 2:57:25am

It is time to move on.

Clearly, Reuters is the Enron of journalism. Too bad.

Now, it's time to start looking at other news outlets through the prism of their association with Reuters. E.g.: "The New York Times, still tainted by its relationship with Reuters."

First--thank you Charles. I am so proud of an American citizen who proves that one person can be heard above the dissident roar.
Second--thank you Zombie! And.. oh please may I use your info on this link for my class? I am teaching them about Aristotle's Ethos, Pathos, Logos--this really fits the bill. I'm determined to give my students the tools they need for evaluating incoming propaganda (oh, sorry, I mean breaking news).

Remember when you said I could use copies of your shots of the San Francisco protest with the Red Chinese woman choreographing the protesters? Well, that proved to be highly effective--just like I know this will.

To both of you--I so admire your courage, your analysis and your sense of humor (the last must serve you well in some of these situations.

Awesome as always Zombie. Have forwarded your link to many people I know who have their heads buried in the sand.

One thing I was wondering about the last series of photos...where did his hat go? I mean you can play dead but you still want to keep your hat.

Pic one : With hat on his head

Pic two.
Wow, it must be rigor mortis. His hat is folded and he is "clutching" it to his side. Obviously he died with his hat at his side and as rigor set in, it because clutched to his side, so he could be buried with it I guess. He must have loved that hat

64 shug  Wed, Aug 9, 2006 4:28:03am

PIMF---it because became clutched to his side

65 Forkum  Wed, Aug 9, 2006 4:59:19am

Zombie:

I tried e-mailing you, but everything gets kicked back.

Excellent work (as always) with the Reuters Scandal page, but I have one suggestion. Regarding the bridge photos you wrote: "The foreshortening is so extreme that it's hard to believe it could be produced simply by different lenses, but it may be possible."

It's not merely possible. I no longer have any doubt that what is being seen is extreme foreshortening. The notion the truck might have been staged should be killed. There is no evidence in the photographs that the truck was moved. To the contrary, everything in the photos indicates the truck was not moved, so allowing for the possibility is unwarranted.

Also, regarding the "two men running pointlessly back and forth across the same bridge." Technically they could not have been running across the bridge because the bridge is out in every picture.

I created diagrams to illustrate the points I made in the LGF thread. Please see Update V in this post (diagrams at the end of the update).

I say all this because even bringing up the issue in relation to the Reuters scandal could detract from all the legitimate breaches of journalism that have been and are being uncovered.

69 kay1212  Wed, Aug 9, 2006 6:49:24am

#65 That is extremely well illustrated work. You are probably correct. But why are the men running? It makes the photo more urgent, no?

70 Forkum  Wed, Aug 9, 2006 7:13:15am

kay1212: I'm not saying there isn't any acting going on. The people certainly aren't running from a collapsing bridge because it is already down. I'm just saying that there's no evidence that the objects in the scene are staged (the people are another matter).
