-RetweetE&P Goes for the Smear

Wed, Aug 23, 2006 at 12:35:42 pm PDT

Here’s a textbook example of how to deliberately avoid dealing with important issues by employing that time-honored journalistic technique, the cheap smear. From Greg Mitchell, editor of Editor & Publisher: In Defense of War Photographers.

Allahpundit has gone through most of Mitchell’s flagrantly dishonest piece, and there isn’t much to add: E&P editor attacks bloggers over Reutersgate.

And Mitchell, by the way, was featured at LGF earlier this year, when he wrote an op-ed arguing that mainstream media should not report important facts about Iran, in order to prevent the US from taking military action: Editor & Publisher: Media Must Prevent Action Against Iran. So he’s apparently very comfortable with the idea of agenda-driven journalism.

UPDATE at 8/23/06 1:48:43 pm:

Mitchell also called for media to help overthrow the Bush administration.
