Salam Daher, also known as “Green Helmet Guy,” the corpse-posing ghoul from Qana photographed by discredited Reuters propagandist Adnan Hajj (among others), makes it to the podium of the UN General Assembly via Hizballah’s poodle, Emile Lahoud:

Snapped Shot has a transcript of Lahoud’s appalling speech: Fauxtography in search of a point.

UPDATE at 9/21/06 11:11:49 am:

As a reminder, here’s the video from German TV showing Salam Daher directing a scene in which he removes a child’s body from an ambulance and poses it for photographers like a side of beef.

A *draft* for conscription is *not* the answer to Transnational Terrorism and ending it as an ideological possibility to success for broader goals of domination. Removing the profit from that trade *with* terrorists, hounding their suppliers until they *stop* supplying them, going after financiers and banks *directly* by seizure, and seizing cargo vessels, aircraft, trucks and any other transport for these enemies of the State slowly tightens the noose around terrorists. What will they do? Threaten their suppliers? Kill their bankers? Blow up their offices? This is their very LIFE BLOOD to sustain themselves as organizations. And what is even better is that if this is started, many will give themselves up to proper law enforcement rather than be *captured* by American Citizens with a Warrant and whatever means they deem necessary to bring them in.

You'll soon be hearing that Pelosi called Chavez a "thug."

Yes, even rabid rangle railed at his rant
but we all see thru the veil of deception but does the average leftist voter ?
see below for the shocking answer to todays' drama

A man walked into a very high-tech bar. As he sat down on a stool he
noticed that the bartender was a robot. The robot clicked to attention
and asked, "Sir, what will you have?"

The man thought a moment then replied? "A martini, please."

The robot clicked a couple of times and mixed the best martini the man
had ever had.

The robot then asked, "sir, what is your IQ?"

The man answered "oh, about 164."

The robot then proceeded to discuss the "theory of relativity",
"inter-stellar space travel", "the latest medical break through's",
etc...

The man was most impressed. He left the bar but thought he would try a
different tact. He returned and took a seat.

Again the robot clicked and asked what he would have?

"A Martini, please."

Again it was superb? The robot again asked "what is your IQ, sir?"

This time the man answered , "Oh about 100". So the robot started
discussing Nascar racing, the latest basketball scores, and what to
expect the Dodgers to do this weekend.

The guy had to try it one more time. So he left, returned and took a
stool... Again a martini, and the question, "What is your IQ?"?

This time the man drawled out "Uh... bout 50".

The robot clicked then leaned close and very slowly asked,

"A-r-e... y-o-u-r...p-e-o-p-l-e... g-o-i-n-g...t-o...
n-o-m-i-n-a-t-e... H-i-l-l-a-r-y-?"

Israelis 'trains Kurdish forces'

The BBC has obtained evidence that Israelis have been giving military training to Kurds in northern Iraq.

A report on the BBC TV programme Newsnight showed Israeli experts in northern Iraq, drilling Kurdish militias in shooting techniques.

Kurdish officials have refused to comment on the report and Israel has denied it knows of any involvement.

The revelation is set to cause enormous problems for the Kurds, not only in Iraq but also in the wider region.

In way better UN news, Stephen Harper addressed the General Assembly and there was no Bush-bashing or USA-bashing. Yeah, I know, he must have broken a rule or something.

In the Middle East, Canada has joined the international community in the reconstruction of Lebanon. But will UNIFIL ensure security on Israel's northern border and lead to progress in the Middle East peace process?

Nuclear proliferation threatens us all. Are we prepared to ensure that Security Council decisions will be implemented fully? Will we act to halt activities that have no reasonable purpose other than the acquisition of nuclear weapons?
...snip...
Earlier this year, Canada's new government was given a mandate to make our national government more accountable, to ensure taxpayers get full value for their money, and to pursue a clear, focused agenda that produces tangible results.

The United Nations should accept nothing less. This organization must become more accountable and more effective. Management reform must continue, and at an accelerated pace.

AP admits "Dems afraid of Terror rights debate"

[Link: news.yahoo.com...]

Democrats sit out detainee debate By ANNE PLUMMER FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer
Thu Sep 21, 8:33 AM ET

WASHINGTON - Congressional Democrats are sitting out an explosive debate on how to treat the nation's most dangerous terrorism suspects, bypassing a chance to challenge President Bush on a proposal that has infuriated international law experts and human rights groups.

The reasons are fraught with politics: They don't have to join in, and they could regret it if they did.

With November elections for control of Congress just weeks away, Democrats are letting a handful of Republican senators battle the Bush administration over the legal fine points of the White House detainee plan in hopes the GOP will bloody itself on the top-tier issue of security.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Wednesday that Democrats were "on the sidelines watching the catfights" among Republicans on terrorism legislation. He said they had little choice until the GOP settled on its position.

Democrats may attempt to amend the detainee legislation should it reach the floor of the House or Senate, and they say they will defend their record on national security. But it is unlikely party leaders will make much noise this election season to ensure terror suspects are afforded legal rights.

Influencing their strategy are memories of the 2002 defeat of Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga., who was ousted by Republican Saxby Chambliss following a TV ad campaign that attacked Cleland's patriotism. Cleland, a severely wounded Vietnam veteran, had voted against creating the Homeland Security Department.

"Max Cleland — having lost three limbs in Vietnam — thought the voters in Georgia wouldn't fall for" such charges, the Senate's No. 2 Democrat, Richard Durbin, said Wednesday. "They did and he lost his Senate seat. We're not going to make that same mistake."

While Democrats on Capitol Hill are choosing their words carefully, former President Clinton has shown less such reticence to engage Bush on the issue.

In an interview aired Thursday on National Public Radio, Clinton said "I believe on balance we should strictly adhere to the Geneva Conventions, and we should honor it, and when we violate it we should be prepared to be held accountable and ask people what would you have done under those circumstances."

"But I think you go around passing laws that legitimize a violation of the Geneva Convention, and institutionalize what happened at Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo, ah we're going to be in real trouble," he added.

Sharing a view expressed last week by former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Clinton said, "It'll hurt America, it won't help us in our attempts to, to win the people that we're trying to win over in these hot spots in the world and it will make our own soldiers far more vulnerable to being abused if they are captured."

Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress are trying to focus voters on the violence in Iraq and the cost of the widely unpopular war.

Reid announced Wednesday that Democrats would conduct their own pre-election hearings on the Iraq war. To be held around the country as voters prepare to head to the polls, the sessions are intended to call attention to what Democrats say are gross missteps in the planning for the war.

Bush has pulled 14 terror suspects out of secret CIA prisons and sent them to the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The group includes Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The administration's proposal would give the government wide latitude to detain and interrogate those terror suspects and others.

Kind of O/T:

AP reports that torture is worse in Iraq now than it was under Saddam, according to the U.N. torture "expert", Manfred Nowak. Nowak said this includes torture by gov't forces.

[Link: news.yahoo.com...]

You'd think that he'd been to Iraq and inspected the facilities himself, but you'd be wrong: "Nowak has yet to make an official visit to Iraq and said such a mission would be unfeasible as long as the security situation there remains perilous. He based his comments on interviews with people during a visit to Amman, Jordan, and other sources."

From the transcript:

There is ample talk today of the need to reach a PERMANENT and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, which is something Lebanon has stressed for decades. However, we are quick to point out that NO such peace can be achieved in the Middle East without addressing the root cause of instability in the Middle East, namely the Arab-Israeli dispute and its core issue, PALESTINE.

The Arab Peace Initiative remains the suitable venue to achieve a permanent, comprehensive and just peace, because it simply calls for the implementation of all United Nations resolutions as they pertain to the withdrawal of Israel from all occupied Arab lands, and for the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes.

In case anyone is confused, yes, he is actually demanding the "right of return" of several generations of Arabs to what is now Israel, thus creating a new Muslim-majority state.

Our conception, Ladies and Gentlemen, of a "New Middle East" is one that is coherent with the United Nations resolutions, and that is in concurrence with the principles of justice and right as stipulated in these resolutions. Our idea of a New Middle East is one where a comprehensive peace settlement becomes reality and guarantees the rights of all; where Palestinian refugees return home as stipulated in UN Resolution 194, and as such, are NOT resettled in hostcountries; and where prisoners return to their loved ones.

See? All we have to do in order to have peace in the Middle East is eliminate all those pesky Jews...

Would someone please remind me why we let peiple like this into our country?

Aside from the overall distortion of the Middle East (OK, this is 'the truth' from the Muslim/Arab perspective - in case I forget how they see things) this one bit of the speech caught my eye:

"Perhaps the reforms that were carried out so far, such as the establishment of a Human Rights Council..."

Given the wretched record of the new council under the lead of Louise Arbour - 100% of all council resolutions so far have been anti-Israel (that is even better than the approx 80% from the previous entity) - to say nothing of her/its role in the condemnation of the Danish government for the cartoon publication - I somehow part company in the assessment of these "reforms" as anything but a further step backwards for the UN.

Irrelevance is the next logical step.

From the I may want to change sides department...

.NEW YORK (Reuters) - President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan said that after the September 11 attacks the United States threatened to bomb his country if it did not cooperate with America's war campaign against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Musharraf, in an interview with CBS news magazine show "60 Minutes" that will air Sunday, said the threat came from Assistant Secretary of State Richard Armitage and was given to Musharraf's intelligence director.

"The intelligence director told me that (Armitage) said, 'Be prepared to be bombed. Be prepared to go back to the Stone Age,'" Musharraf said.

"I think it was a very rude remark."

The Pakistani leader, whose remarks were distributed to the media by CBS, said he reacted to the threat in a responsible way.

"One has to think and take actions in the interest of the nation, and that's what I did," Musharraf said about the cooperation extended by Pakistan.

Musharraf said some demands made by the United States were "ludicrous," including one insisting he suppress domestic expression of support for terrorism against the United States.

"If somebody's expressing views, we cannot curb the expression of views," Musharraf said.

Carrots and Sticks
The Geneva Conventions are not an Entitlement
By Rusty Shackleford
Wednesday, September 20, 2006

Since the Geneva Conventions do not apply to terrorists, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Seriously. In fact, by treating terrorists humanely we undermine the Geneva Conventions.

The idea behind the Conventions is that if you agree to abide by their rules, your captured combatants will be treated humanely. Human treatment is an inducement to follow the rules of war.

A cell in the Navy brig at the U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, Wed., April 13, 2005. The prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay during the war on terror have attacked their military guards hundreds of times, turning broken toilet parts, utensils, radios and even a bloody lizard tail into makeshift weapons, Pentagon reports say. (AP Photo/Richard Ross)

That is called a carrot.

But there is also a negative inducement. If you do not agree to abide by their rules, your captured combatants will not be treated humanely. At least, there is no legal guarantee that they will. The prospect that you will have no legal protections against pain and suffering if you get captured is an inducement to follow the rules of war.

That is called a stick.

So, by giving terrorists the same protections as those offered under the Geneva Conventions aren't we, in fact, undermining those same Conventions? All carrot and no stick if you will?

Worse than that, it is no carrot and no stick. An inducement, by definition, only works when there is an if/then relationship. If you do this, then you get that.

As out Lizard Master says "read it all"

the fact that no-one is doing anything to stop chavez, or any other person doing what he is doing, is very troubling!

think about it! a head of another country is allowed to come here and travel around , with protection, say whatever he wants and then he goes home a hero!

what country would allow mr bush the same courtesy! none! and yet, chavez and the rest are allowed to come here and denigrate this nation and its president at will.

it is horrifying that this is allowed. call it free speech - call it what you will - it is also called stupidity! remember the saying, sticks and stones etc... well the sticks and stones may break the bones, but its the words that enflame the minds and hearts of people who will in turn throw the 'sticks and stones', and in irans case, nuclear weapons.

Yes, Algeria. The UNBELIEVABLE irony is that we can't send prisoners to ALGERIA without "violating their human rights" by European standards. So if we close Gitmo I guess we'll have to send the Algerians to France. It's time for some parachute diplomacy.

Hezbollah gears up for massive 'victory' rally

Hezbollah supporters have headed towards the Lebanese capital for a massive "victory" rally after the devastating war with Israel amid suspense over whether the group's chief Hassan Nasrallah will emerge from hiding.

AFP correspondents in southern Lebanon said Thursday that Hezbollah's hardcore supporters were taking the road to Beirut, on foot as well as by car, for Friday's show of strength, while the government complained of renewed Israeli violations of its airspace.

IAF should arrange flybys over the 'celebration' for the duration and hit the crowd with a sonic boom every 5 minutes.

Or if Nasrallah shows, maybe a few real booms.

Where I come from the thought of the U.S. government leading a reconstruction effort is not a positive thing.

Chavez?

I think it would be wise for conservatives to contirbute as much money as possible to keep Chavez in the United States until November. He's got the Democrats as nervous as hell because he saying what they want to say but won't because they know it will cost them votes in the election.

Bravo, Senor Chavez. Bravo has two meanings, by the way. Check your dictionaries.

Now, the weak kneed Republicans and conservatives in this country must make sure that Chavez's comments stick to those whom he echoes.

We are so far from being ready to take on a zealous enemy.

102 Kevin Shook

So why is the U.S. donating money for the reconstruction of Lebanon? This seems to prove the point the Hizballah is the Gov't in Beruit.

Bingo! Lebanon is the government of Hezbollah and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We give and give and give mostly for the wrong reasons and it ends up where they all mock and humiliate us.

Same for Abbas who my president continues to call a man of peace who is not btw.
Nor is he a brave man of courage!
He is an incubator for terrorism. He is a man who has done not one thing to fight terror. No matter how we pretend otherwise, Abbas is who Bush talked about in his famed State of the Union pertaining to those who harbor terror.

Those who say they support Israel should be screaming about this but all I hear is silence.

This is why those tyrants use the forum of the UN to rip the US to shreds. They do it simply because they can.

Which is why appeasement must end. Which is why it is killing us slowly.

Lying and whitewashing for the Palestinians who are embraced for all the wrong reasons with hope of a legit terror state by a great president who should know better will have no significant rewards for the US in either the long run or short run. For Israel this will be surely remembered as one of the most major diplomatic blunders in all history. In the end once again Israel was used for a sure fire failed experiment at the cost of Israelis.

Lying for the Palestinians denigrates truth and justice. It swallows up the humanity of the Jews and portrays us as something which we are not. It de-legitimizes our plight, our quest for peace and quiet while legitimizing those who wish to kill us all. Plain and simple.

The whole ordeal is simply over the top! And while I am on the subject not a dime of our tax dollars should be given to the Lebanese government for right under their nose a terror group became stronger and stronger. Why a cease-fire was co-authored by the US and France to stop Israel from doing the job the rest of the world should be doing is beyond me. In so doing we literally saved the necks of Hezbollah, Syria and Iran!

Same goes for Egypt who we give billions, who right under the nose of the ruler of black hair dye hundreds upon hundreds of weapon tunnels were dug which transported slaughter to innocent Israelis. We are not talking about Nazi Germany here. This is the 21st century!

We should no longer fall over ourselves to embrace the Arab/Islamic world expecting them to eat out of our hand for the other way around is sure to happen. They don't want what we have and love so dearly they only want us. This continual non stop appeasement only makes them hate us even more. For absolutely NOTHING to the street IS EVER ENOUGH. Except of course our very lives.

Lastly, if anyone cares to broach the subject of the dreaded daily humiliation of the Palestinians concerning road-blocks Israel is reminded of 24/7 I direct them to Iraq for there are roadblocks everywhere in Iraq for the very same identical reason they are in Israel. Why for the love of G-d must such a double-standard even apply to Israel?

Sorry for the rant but these subjects should be on the lips of every supporter of Israel as well as those who love and support our freedom here in the USA.
