-RetweetBreaking: Ramadan Riots in Sweden

Sun, Oct 8, 2006 at 3:07:33 pm PDT

LGF reader Enlil from Gothenburg, Sweden, sent the following disturbing note:

Tonight there were power shortages all over Sweden’s second largest city, Gothenburg. “Youth gangs” took the opportunity, spreading the European tradition of “Ramadan Riots.” Within an hour most schools and commercial centers in the north eastern suburbs were vandalized.

- It’s complete chaos in north eastern Gothenburg. “We’ve sent all available police units but there’s no way we can stop the vandalisation,” police spokesman Frank Karlsson tells gp.se.

- Several youth gangs are wandering about smashing windows and breaking into schools, malls, banks and a retirement center.

Not a word about this on the wires...

UPDATE at 10/8/06 3:37:57 pm:

It’s on the front page of Aftonbladet, and here’s the linked story in Swedish: Vag av skadegörelse i Göteborg.

UPDATE at 10/9/06 9:53:17 am:

Less serious than first reports indicated: Swedish Riot Update.

Ever watched a fight on TV? Before the bout everyone’s milling around in the ring; there’s hard looks and grins and hangers-on and photographers, and a general air of excitement and anticipation, but everyone’s enjoying the moment. Then the bell clangs. Everyone heads to their corners. They know exactly which corner is theirs.

We may think that bell’s already rung, but it hasn’t. Believe me, you'll know it when it does.

The bright side of all this darkness: the Muslims will by their actions end up waking Europe far faster than all the anti-idiotarian blogosphere ever could.

No way they can stop it? Are they kidding? Either the Swedes are going to have to get really really ugly and face the usual charges of racism and Islamophobia (um, assuming the youths are Muslim, after all, it could be Rotarians holding Ramadan riots), or surrender to dhimmitude.

That's the problem with being civilized. When you're facing the reprimitivized, you're afraid to get as down and dirty as they get.

Hello. This is my first post on lgf.
It appears to me that once more, a European government, and the news media, are failing in their duty to their people. The government by not controlling the violence of an aggressive group of radicals, and the news media by not leveling with the citizenry. I notice that Sweden has a new (more or less) conservative government, and this would seem to be their first test. I sincerely hope that they pass it.

cheers

39 Fjordman  Sun, Oct 8, 2006 1:28:03pm

I know Swedes changed their government recently, but I'm not sure that's enough. Sweden is in really serious trouble. But of course, so is the rest of Western Europe:

Sarkozy: Turkey's entry 'end' to political Europe

French presidential hopeful Nicolas Sarkozy said Turkey's entry into the European Union would "be the end of political Europe" and suggested it would worsen the "problem" of Muslim integration in the continent, in an interview to be published Thursday. Sarkozy also explained his opposition to welcoming Ankara into the EU fold by citing what he said was the already existing "problem" of integrating Muslims into Europe. "We have a problem of integration of Muslims which raises the issue of Islam in Europe. To say it is not a problem is to hide from reality. If you let 100 million Turkish Muslims come in, what will come of it?" the magazine quoted him as saying.

The minister, who heads the ruling right-wing UMP party and has declared he will run for president in next year's elections, also expressed concern that shifting Europe's border southeast would bring it closer to violent conflicts in the region. "Turkey is in Asia Minor... I will not explain to little French school children that the frontiers of Europe are Iraq and Syria," Sarkozy said, naming two of Turkey's southeastern neighbours.

Spain 'needs four million immigrants' by 2020

Spain will need at least 4 million more immigrants - between 16 and 64 – by 2020, according to a study. The report, prepared by the regional government of Catalonia, looked ahead to the situation in 2020.

Last year, Spain's Socialist government extended amnesty to illegal immigrants, a move deemed overly generous by the opposition in Spain and some other European nations. Madrid provided work and residence papers to nearly 600,000 people, but more than 1.2 million foreigners continue to live illegally in the Iberian nation.

You're spot on. As I recently wrote, we're disabled in this war on the level of the leadership rather than of the populace, because the leaders of the West (except for Australia) are baby-boomers who can't give up the Cold War way of looking at all the world events.

People are waking up, but we need better leaders, new leaders from among the woken people to replace the Sixties hippies currently in power.

As an Electrical Engineer who used to work for a multi-billion dollar Utility here in the States, it is one of our greatest weaknesses, Earth:

30 men with high power rifles could take out 5/6ths of America's power for month.

I'm also an EE (though not T&D), and that might be true, but they'd really, really have to know what they're doing, and they'd also have to get lucky. Nonetheless, that is one of a long list of vulnerabilities. And if I know the utilities, they have at least some sort of plan to deal with it, and some defenses against it.

I don't think we're as unprepared as a lot of people think we are.

From Western Resistance:

France: Schoolgirl Stoned In Playground For Not Observing Ramadan
A truly horrific sign of the times comes from Lyon in the south of France, where a schoolgirl was stoned by Muslim students on Wednesday (October 4), for not following Ramadan. France-Echos reports on the incident, which is described in today's edition of Le Progres a paper serving the Lyon, Villeurbanne and Caluire-et-Cuire region.

This is a translation of the France-Echos report:
A schoolgirl was stoned on Wednesday in playground

For non-observance of Ramadan

According to information given by Michèle Vianès, from the Regards de Femmes organization:

The information that I gave Thursday from our cafe Regards de Femmes is in Le Progres today.

A schoolgirl of Jean Mermoz college in Lyon's eighth arrondissement (postal district) was pelted with stones on Wednesday morning in the playground because she ate a snack. The argument that the incident stemmed from the non-observance of Ramadan is confirmed by the Lyon prosecutor's office, based on initial results from its investigation.

Azzedine Gaci, president of the CRCM (Regional Council for the Muslim Religion) , states that "if the facts are proven, they are unacceptable". He deplores the ignorance of the pupils, who should be taught the Koran at school, and who are unaware that "women who are not feeling well" * are exempted from observing Ramadan.

Without other commentaries for today, I will keep you updated

Michèle Vianès

The front cover of Le Progres (here, in pdf, but not yet on its online site) states:

Ramadan fast: A college girl attacked

The attack happened in a recreation moment in the playground of Jean-Mermoz (Lyon 8th). Pupils of the third grade threw stones at an adolescent. The principal of the college said it was a simple incident, not premeditated. But for its side, the Prosecutor's Office of Lyon confirmed in the first stages of an inquiry that this this act could have been linked to the victim not observing the ramadan fast. The incident has provoked strong emotion in the education community.

The story continues on page 7 of the printed edition, which I do not have access to at present. Hopefully on Monday, today's edition will be online and I will update this story.

* Means literally "indisposed", or "out of sorts", and probably is a euphemism for her "time of the month".

New Swedish PM starts job

Reuters
October 05, 2006

By Patrick Lannin

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Centre-right leader Fredrik Reinfeldt, who has pledged to cut taxes and trim the welfare state, became new prime minister on Thursday with a newspaper tipping former premier Carl Bildt to be foreign minister.

Reinfeldt polled 175 votes in his favor and 169 against in the 349-seat parliament. His appointment had been expected after he led a four-party alliance to victory in September elections.

Reinfeldt, who leads the Moderate Party that ended 12 years of Social Democrat rule, will lay out his government's plans for the next four years and present his cabinet on Friday. He will launch a budget on October 16.

Although the alliance has been tight-lipped about who will take up the top government jobs, Danish daily Jyllands Posten quoted a source close to Bildt as saying the former Moderate prime minister would be appointed foreign minister.

Crap. Eurabia just barely hears the alarm bell. They still can't - or won't - connect the dots. Some pols, like Straw, make a bold statement, and then retreat back into their shell like a frightened turtle.

Just wait till we have a bunch of loony Dems running the show in Congress. The islamofascists will get down to brass tacks on pulling apart the already fragile fabric of American society. A Dem win in 2008 will complete the job. Americans had better hear the alarm clock ringing and wake up real fast.

I wish that were the case, Earth.

Ever try to go buy a 50 MVA, 66KV transformer down at Home Despot?

They don't stock them.

Takes about a month to have one built...longer, if they have to do it in the dark (winding, baking, testing, etc).

This is to say nothing of the logistics of transporting these big ‘moose’ with the power out.

Due to the exorbitant taxes on excess stock by the States (up to 50%, in some cases), many Utilities have cut their excess transformers stock to zero.

After all: who would want to pay 50% tax on a 12 million dollar piece of equipment that may not need to be used for the next 10-15 years?

Not me.

Not you (in the form of higher utility prices).

Not Utility investors.

We are so vulnerable, it is sickening.

You must read this...

It is sensitive cultural and political terrain, but Khader's convictions are anything but opaque. This was apparent early this year when he condemned violent Muslim protests against a Danish newspaper's publication of caricatures of the prophet Muhammad. Khader argued that the worldwide demonstrations were orchestrated by radical clerics to aggravate tensions between East and West.

"If you don't want to look at the cartoons, don't buy the paper," Khader, one of three Muslims in the Danish parliament, said in a recent interview at his office. "I understood why Muslims were upset. But you protest in the frame of democracy.

"Why this overreaction? I asked the Islamists why they didn't demonstrate when Abu Musab Zarqawi killed innocent hostages in Iraq. Why didn't they protest when Bin Laden sent planes into New York? This is against Islam too."

Car explodes in Gothenburg

Premature celebration/work accident?

76 Amalie  Sun, Oct 8, 2006 1:51:13pm
"There was no Islamophobia in Denmark in the 1970s," said Khader, who first tasted rye bread and licorice on the sidewalks of his new city, where sometimes the "working girls" near the red-light district bought him ice cream on his way home from school. "It was a different world. I had come from a village where the only TV set was in a coffee shop for men."

The tone in Denmark shifted a decade later, however, when refugees from the Lebanese civil war began arriving. More Muslim immigrants landed throughout the 1990s, along with imams financed by radical Islamic groups in the Middle East.

The gap between the parallel societies of Muslims and Danes widened after Sept. 11, and the controversy over the Muhammad caricatures further exposed the integration failures in a nation that prided itself on equality.

Danes were left with the moral question of how far the vaunted tradition of Scandinavian tolerance extended. Muslims, who account for about 200,000 of the population of 5.4 million, are split between those such as Khader and the more extremist voices angry about discrimination and issues such as the participation of Danish troops in the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

"It's not a clash of civilizations. It's a clash of ideologies, and the largest part of that is between Islamists and moderate Muslims," Khader said, adding that Middle East extremists were trying to exploit Muslim integration problems in Europe. "I've founded a group called Democratic Muslims. We're going to hold an international conference. We need to oppose the well-organized Islamists.

"We don't know enough about the Islamists," he said. "Who are they? What's their thinking? Why is radical Islam so attractive to people even born in this country?"

Khader says much of the blame lies with religious leaders such as Abu Laban, who organized a Muslim delegation to the Middle East to gain diplomatic support for protests against the Muhammad cartoons. The demonstrations in Europe were largely peaceful, but the outrage in the Middle East and other regions led to violence, deaths and the storming of Danish embassies.

From one of my older posts:

[Link: fjordman.blogspot.com...]

While Malmö may be an especially appalling example, instability is spreading to most of Sweden's urban and suburban areas, and now permeates all levels of society. Street violence of all kinds is soaring on a national level. Private security companies are in great demand in major Swedish cities, as a serious lack of police to combat rising crime has made many citizens tired of being robbed.

A large majority of Swedish Members of Parliament, but even many politicians on lower and local levels, say they experience threats or violence. Many of them say the harassment is so bad they consider leaving politics.

In Husby, a Stockholm suburb, gangs of immigrant youngsters are harassing other visitors who come to use the swimming pool. A Swedish school class was attacked and robbed by a large group of teenage boys shouting "Swedish bastards! (Svennejävlar) You don't belong here!" The police in Husby are aware of the problem, but say it is an integration problem that the police can't solve alone.

In another case, some twenty youths armed with iron rods and chains smashed the Hjulsta school in Stockholm. They also threatened and attacked several of the pupils. Neither the students nor the teachers dare testify to the police about the incident. Their fears are well-founded, as threats against witnesses in Swedish court cases have quadrupled between 2000 and 2003.

The massive, uncontrolled immigration is starting to take its toll. The number of ghettos, a phenomenon that until recently was unheard of in wealthy and egalitarian Scandinavian nations, has been increasing explosively. 14 years ago, there were only 3 such areas in all of Sweden. Today, there are 136.

Stockholm politician Annika Billström warns against the dangers of creating ghettos in Sweden. Rock throwing and attacks against buses and trains are increasing problems in some suburbs. In Malmö the bus lines in the area of Rosengård have been cancelled. In Stockholm, the authorities went even further and stopped both the bus traffic in the Tensta suburb and the train to Nynäshamn.

Head of the bus company in the city of Uppsala, Claes-Göran Alm, is considering doing the same, as the harassment is costing too much money and is putting their employees at risk. Benny Persson is selling window glass in the areas south of Stockholm. According to him, they sometimes have to jump into the car and leave the spot, as they are met with the harassment that some of the bus companies in the suburbs are experiencing: Stone throwing and threats.

The same thing is reported from Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city. The company Hemglass are now attempting to run double crews in their cars to face the problems, but they still have had to completely abandon an area outside Södertälje.

If you get stuck in an elevator outside Stockholm, you risk staying there for a long time. The repair personnel now demand security guards present when they arrive, since several of their employees have been physically attacked. The most serious problem, however, is the delay of ambulances and the fire department. According to the Emergency Central, attacks against them have become commonplace in the cities. Every Saturday, at least five to ten times emergency personnel are asking for police escort to be able to do their job. The segregation in the worst hit areas of Sweden has not been broken, despite many attempts.

I read/write/speak Norwegian better, Jamie, but I will do my best:
"Gangs are roaming around during the power outage."
"The police in Goterborg got during Sunday evening many reports of injuries in the area of the outage"
"Youth gangs hit (something) and broke in during the cover of night (darkness, litteraly)."
"The years chaos has just happened, said a man at the police station"
"It was very dark in North east vicinity of Goteborg during the night."
"Youth gangs went around in the darkened (something)and vandelised, (something) police."
"We have received many reports of injuries, said Frank Karlsson by West Gotalands police communications center. At 11PM."

It may not be perfect...

I think he's talking about a very specific local situation. I agree that inventory taxes are a really, really stupid idea, and they do have the effect of discouraging utilities from keeping the proper inventory of spares, but I also know that they generally keep some, anyway. And while a lot of those units are very big and heavy, I've seen utilities and contractors do some pretty amazing things in very short periods of time if they have to.

Not that he isn't pointing out a problem, I just don't think it's quite as general as that. And I guarantee you, if somebody did try an attack like that, we'd be exempting utility spares from inventory taxes overnight, and doing whatever is necessary to make sure that there's a spare for everything imaginable.

But i noticed something, All the People who were screaming "plurality" and "multiculturalism" Were from Sweden! They were wagging their finger at us "rightists" and saying we have to be respectful, blah blah blah. (we all know the excuses) So i mentioned this to my Danish friend (who's from Denmark) and he agreed 100%! it was not my imagination. In fact Swedeish GOVt Did not support Denmark at all and tried to distance themselves from it. Sweden for the last 27 years has been ruled by a Leftist socialist coalition. BUT LUCKILY there is still some sanity in Sweden. The last election saw a right orientied govt get into power after 27 years! Except for Spain, it seems that all the Govts of Europe are taking a swing to the right in the last year! I can only hope that things get better for Europe or else Eurabia is its future.

Just wait till we have a bunch of loony Dems running the show in Congress. The islamofascists will get down to brass tacks on pulling apart the already fragile fabric of American society. A Dem win in 2008 will complete the job.

It depends how much the Dems are swept by their anti-war/Kossack fringes. Another possibility is that, in the face of great peril, they'll actually recall the spirit of FDR.

We speculate. In reality, the course of future events at large is in G-d's hands, with us making just our individual choices.

And another one:

[Link: gatesofvienna.blogspot.com...]

In the New York Times May 10, 2006, Alan Cowell wrote an article from Sweden entitled “An Economy With Safety Features, Sort of Like a Volvo.”

Cowell concludes that “the economy prospers — even though taxes here remain high and big government administers cradle-to-grave social programs that absorb more than half of the national output” and that “compared with some other parts of Europe, there is still some optimism here.”

This is sloppy journalism. If Cowell had done anything more than scratching the surface, he would have found that Europe is in the midst of massive waves of Muslim immigration that are in the process of transforming the continent into a post-Western entity some call “Eurabia.” Sweden is one of the leading countries in this process, quite possibly the worst of them all, and yet freedom of speech in debating these topics in public has become de facto so curtailed that one could question whether Sweden in 2006 is still a functioning democracy.

Cowell states that “Sweden’s official unemployment rate of 4.8 percent, many economists say, is distorted by the omission of people in government-financed retraining programs. The labor unions calculate the real figure at closer to 8 percent.” Hans Karlsson, a leftwing heavyweight, concluded that true unemployment was more in the ballpark of 20-25%, not 5% as the government was claiming.

Estimates indicate that immigration costs Sweden at least 40 to 50 billion Swedish kroner every year, probably several hundred billions, and has greatly contributed to bringing the Swedish welfare state to the brink of bankruptcy. An estimated cost of immigration of 225 billion Swedish kroner in 2004, which is not unlikely, would equal 17.5% of Sweden’s tax income that year, a heavy burden in a country where the overall tax burden between 1990 and 2005 on average was 61%, almost one and a half times the OECD average.

In neighboring Denmark, right-wing politicians are already debating the threat of a spillover of immigrant “welfare tourists,” should the Swedish system collapse.

Sweden is a semi-totalitarian country. It’s all about façade. On the surface, Sweden is a tolerant nation and peaceful democracy. In reality, there is massive media censorship by a closed elite that is scared of having a debate about immigration. Opinion polls have revealed that two out of three Swedes doubt whether Islam can be combined with Swedish society, and a very significant proportion of the population have for years wanted more limitations on immigration.

Yet not one party represented in the Swedish Parliament is genuinely critical of the Multicultural society or the current immigration policies. The Swedish elite congratulate themselves that they have managed to keep “xenophobic” parties from gaining a foothold while the country is sinking underneath their feet.

Two Swedish girls were sent home from school for wearing sweaters showing a tiny Swedish flag. The headmaster was concerned that this might be deemed offensive by some immigrants. Helle Klein, political editor of the newspaper Aftonbladet, boasts: “If the debate is going to be about whether there are problems with immigrants, we don’t want it.”

“Swedish Radio correspondent Ceclia Udden who, when accused of systematic bias in covering the American election, blithely agreed. “On such issues as the US right and Israel…there was a Swedish…consensus, and any reporting had to be based on that,” she said.”

Ethnologist Maria Bäckman, in her study “Whiteness and gender,” has followed a group of Swedish girls in the suburb of Rinkeby outside Stockholm, where native Swedes have been turned into a tiny minority of the inhabitants due to rapid immigration. They experienced that being blonde involves old men staring at you, cars honking their horns and boys calling you “whore.” We thus have a situation where being blonde in certain areas of Sweden means being a target of harassment.

OT, but my prediction for the Democrats is that if they do regain control of either (or both) house(s) of Congress next month, they'll be unable to make much practical use of it, for the following reasons;

A. Their extremist fringe (the Koslings) will see this as a mandate, and demand that their agenda be enacted. Think, impeach the President, sign a unilateral peace with al-Qaeda, and tell everyone to turn in their SUVs. The result would be a replay of 1994 in 2008, and at least some of the party's leaders must realize this. So there will be an internal power struggle, and it will be ugly.

B. At least some of their leaders (notably from the Left Coast) will be out to take vengeance on the American people for taking their toys away from them 12 years ago. Look for a variety of punitive tax measures, etc., some bordering on the silly (like the "yacht tax"), that will do nothing but annoy the roughly 50% of Americans who aren't with them 100%. And remember, if you're not with them 100%, you're the enemy in their eyes- even me, and I'm about as moderate as it gets.

C. And of course, there's the factor of the real fringe groups in their crowd who actually sympathize with the Islamists, on the grounds that "anyone who hates Western Civilization as much as we do has to be the good guy". They will be trying to pull the party, and the U.S., in the same direction as those described in (a), but even farther. The result will probably be an even nastier internal fight than the one that resulted in Ned Lamont ousting Joseph Lieberman. And it will strongly influence the 2008 Presidential primary on their side.
If nothing else, this promises to be an interesting 24 months coming up.
Returning you now to your regularly scheduled topic,

In Catalonia the local representatives are well-proven corrupt socialists separatists. In fact they rule in a sort of subliminal tirany.

For example; shop signs in spanish in Catalonia are forbidden. Yesterday they had a soccer game between "national" teams of vasques and catalonians. They tried to shut down any media critic whith their ruling. They promote hate to Spain meanwhile trying to get as much taxes benefits for them because they are "so discriminated", etc etc.

They support the weak and mad zapatero's government so they can get all what they ask. They are giving in to ETA vasque terrorists and vasque and catalonian separatists politicians.

I don't believe a word of such study coming from catalonians since in this summer we had waves of thousands of illegal aliens brought by socialists (fresh voters). Unemployment in Spain is high enough for most of these couldn't get a job.

Anger in Holland over 'apartheid' Islamic hospital

[Link: www.telegraph.co.uk...]

Plans for a Muslim-only hospital in Holland have sparked a heated debate over its separate all-male and all-female wings, halal food and roster of duty imams.
A populist Right-wing party described the plan for the clinic in south Rotterdam as "a step backwards to the Middle Ages".

There will be segregation between the sexes, with male patients treated by an exclusively male nursing and medical staff and similar arrangements for females.

From what I can glean from reading the article, JH, the police say there is no possibilty of stopping the vandalism and that things are in total chaos.

Doesn't sound pretty.

The report goes on to say that the police have sent all their people into the area to try to stop it, but to no avail.

The way that the police spokesperson is speaking makes it sound like the situation is desperate...

You'll be able to tell when they're getting really serious. They'll put women and children up front as "human shields" for the actual rioters. It plays very well on camera. This is an old trick, going back to the revolutions of 1848. As John W. Campbell said in an "Analog" editorial in 1964, "This is one way they (the radicals) disguise a riot, making it look like anything except what it really is; an armed and dangerous mob."
They're probably on the cell to AP and/or Reuters as we speak.

As the years progress, riots like this will increase in number and severity and become more widespread in Europe. Everything favors the Islamists---demographics, politcal correctness, spineless governments and the unwillingness of native Eurpeans to do anything that might upset their generous entitlements. Too, native Europeans are thoroughly secularized and have difficulty understanding the uncompromising militancy of their Islamic "guests".

Because Sweden is pro-Palestinian, Israel bashing country – Muslims should have sang a loud Dayyenu
But Sweden is not only pro-Palestinian Israel-bashing country but also extends social welfare to all including Muslim immigrants so you would think that Muslims should have sung a loud Dy-Dayyenu
But that’s not all. In addition to the above Sweden also awarded the arch-terrorist Arafat the Nobel Prize for peace- for that it deserves a Dy Dy Dayyenu

Instead, Sweden gets the worst Intifada-like riots of all of the Western countries. Why? Because its police is weaker (even) than the French police.

Swedish isn't all that different from Danish, so I did understand most of it. A quick translation (please forgive if I missed a word or two; Swedish is not my first language, so there might be a few slip-ups):

COMPLETE CHAOS IN NORTHERN PARTS OF TOWN
Several youth gangs roamed the streets tonight, breaking windows of schools and malls in the north eastern part of town. Several places a massive police force was met by stone throwing youths.

-It is complete chaos in north eastern Gothenburg, said Frank Karlsson, deputy duty officer at the police command center in Gothenburg to GP at 11pm.
-We have sent all available police units to the Angered area, but we have no chance of stopping the vandalism.

According to the police command center at 11pm, when the blackout had lasted an hour and a half, most of the schools and almost every mall in Hammarkullen, Hjällbo, Lövgärdet and Gårdsten had been wrecked.

-Every school and every mall has been more or less wrecked, said Frank Karlsson. Several gangs are roaming the streets, smashing everything under the cover of darkness.

The youths have smashed windows at schools and even retirement homes. In Hjällbo bank windows were smashed, at Hammarkulletorget they attacked shops and even at Lövgärdet extensive vandalism occured.
In the centre of Hjällbo police forces were met by stone throwing and had to withdraw. At 11:30pm the police riot squad was on the way to Hjällbo.

Just before midnight the power came back in Hjällbo and other parts of town that had been without electricity sine 9:36pm.
- The riots ended the minute the power came back, said Frank Karlsson at 0:30am.
-The youth gangs disappeared; people finally went home. The police had tens of units as well as the riot squad in the Angered area, all together close to 30 units.

-We should have had much greater forces, if we should have a chance to stop the vandalizing, said Karlsson.
-Had this happened on a friday or saturday night, it wouldn't have been a problem, but we have much less officers on duty on sunday nights, he said.
-But who would expect the youths of Hjällbo to act like gangs in the USA or France and destroy their own neighbourhood.

Their "working" assumption is that all peoples are equally similar to them. Since they have treated their Muslim immigrants fairly and kindly they believe/d that the Muslim immigrants would reciprocate in kind. Realizing that these people are are different is too painful a realization for the Swedish because it means that they have to rethink the validity of many of their long "religiously" held beliefs about themselves as a nation. Given that they have already done all that I counted in my post, the question is what else would it take for them to save themselves.

I lived close to the Israeli embassy in Stockholm and used to periodically see demonstrations marching past my window. What was really shocking was that people were dressed like suicide bombers. But I never saw any article about that in the press. Apparently that was not considered "hate speech". On the other hand, a guy who said it pains him that Swedish girls are regularly raped by "hordes of foreigners" went to jail for a month. There is a rape epidemics in Sweden. Muslims think that Swedish women are whores and they deserve to be raped.

I remember the blond Swedish teenager who was severely beaten and raped by a gang of young muslim men not long ago. (I think it was in Gothenburg, if I'm not mistaken.)

One by one, each member of this gang beat her, and then raped her - constantly yelling at her WHY she was being raped: because she was a non-muslim whore, and deserved the treatment that they were giving her!

I am in total awe of this fine, beautiful, young Swedish teenager, because she had the guts to tell her story in the Swedish press along with a photo of her face, which was still covered in her own blood. I assume this was a photo taken by Swedish police or hospital authorities to gather and preserve evidence for a future trial while the evidence was still fresh.

Her bloodied beaten face and her courage for standing up against these muslim asswipes have been forever burned into my brain. I wish I knew who she was, because I would LOVE to be able to help her out in any way she would let me.

Still, I understand that Swedes have just elected a conservative government into power, and that at least one of the four coalition parties is seriously anti-immigration, especially from muslim nations.

I can't wait to see what they come up with!

I'm not too optimistic about the new coalition. I hope I'm wrong and that I'm underestimating them.

Also, I don't know which of the four parties you mean by "seriously anti-immigration". Maybe I'm not aware of something you know. The "seriously anti-immigration" party I'm thinking of is Sverigedemokraterna (Swedish Democrats). A party with a very reasonable platform, but, unfortunately, they didn't make the Parliament. They had some local success in the south though.

Here is their webpage in English:

Yeah, that was the party I was thinking about - the SD's. I seem to have been misled - the first rapports that came out in Denmark during the election indicated that the SD's, along with three other parties would have enough seats in the Rigsdagen to have the majority vote.

Obviously, the rapports were wrong, seeing as they didn't make it into parliament. (And please accept my apologies for thinking that they did - my fault.)

I can remember when we had our first Mohammed Cartoon contraversy - Swedes were sending Danish media emails and letters, thanking us Danes for having the guts to even debate the Muslim issues, let alone print our insulting cartoons.

I seem to recall that these Swedes indicated that there was no such debate in Sweden - even the two Swedish websites that dared post our cartoons were shut down by Säpo, presumably for "political correctness" reasons.

This is what I am referring to when I say I can't wait to see what the new government come up with.

They must at least admit to fact that Sweden, along with the rest of Europe, has a huge problem with this "religion", and debate what the hell to do about it, preferrably in public, in the Swedish media.

My ex-girlfriend and I visited some of her family in Gothenberg, back in October 1999 - not long after the terrible Gothenberg nightclub fire that killed a lot of young people.

While we were visiting, her entire Swedish family even drove down to lay some flowers on some of the kids gravesights - but that's another story...

One of her cousins was married to a very nice hard working Greek fellow, who shall remain nameless for now.

Seeing as both he and I were technically immigrants to Europe, and Scandinavia, we naturally began talking about immigration.

Both he and I shared the same views about Islam, and it's exclusively negative influence upon Scandinavian and European society. If it wasn't for the fact that he was a Swedish citizen, he could very well have been a member of our Danish Peoples Party, given the fact that he agreed with their viewpoint on about 90% of the issues.

So, to cut a long story short, I know that there are Swedes who are being robbed of a debate on these issues, especially in the media as well as in the Swedish political arena.

It is this Swedish debate that I am looking forward to seeing - because you guys have obviously experienced the exact same problems with Islam that the rest of us have.

Stay safe, Ex Cathedra!

Doesn't look too promising so far. From the blog of Björn Söder, the SD's Party Secretary:

Idag deklarerar Reinfeldt att Sverige skall ha en human flyktingpolitik och motverka den mer restriktiva hållningen i Europa. Statsministern betonar också i regeringsförklaringen hur berikande det är med mångkultur och att den sortens samhällskonstruktion skall bejakas.

Basically says that Reinfeldt, the new Prime Minister, said today that Swedish refugee policies should be generous in order to compensate for the increased restrictions in other European countries. He also stressed that multiculturalism has enriched the Swedish society and that therefore multiculturalist values will continue to be promoted/affirmed.

These guys never learn, do they? Gr-r-r-r! therefore forgive me if I havent't jumped on celebratory bandwagon.

By the way, I'm also an immigrant, but of the sane, non-muslim variety. I feel I have nothing to fear from a populist anti-immigrant movement of a non-neo-nazi kind. Therefore I embrace it.

I thought Sweden was heading for a change - but it's pretty obvious that Björn Söder wishes to continue Sweden's pro-immigration nonsense.

It's easy to see that the winning coalition was elected into office because of their economic policies, and that the Swedish people agree with them regarding those.

I still doubt, however, that the actual native Swedish population agrees with him on immigration, and if you ask me, I think he is taking the 'Neutral' route that Sweden took during the second world war.

You know: stay out of the fight and be 'safe', 'silent' and 'secure'.

Unfortunately for him, and Sweden in general, this will only make Sweden more attractive for future muslims from all over Europe. As the rest of Europe tightens their immigration/muslim stance against Islam, muslims will be moving to Sweden instead.

This has already happened in Denmark, were our strict laws regarding marriages and citizenship stopped the influx of muslims into Denmark. Now, not only do new muslims look elsewhere to immigrate, but even the muslims living here are moving too - a lot of them to Sweden. It's the only legal way they can marry someone from their own countries of origin - but they have to become Swedish citizens in order to do that.

Long story short: I really think that you should consider moving to Denmark, Ex Cathedra, because the problems with muslims in Sweden are apparantly only going to get more worse than they already are!

As my blog name - AmericanViking - indicates, I am an American who is also a Dane. My mother is Danish, and my father is American - so basically, I'm a halfbreed bastard without a homeland (Ha Ha!). My mother, sister and I moved to Denmark back in 1975, and I haven't looked back since.

I absolutely LOVE my new nation, and have a hard time seeing anywhere else in the world that I would like to live - nothing out there, including my country of origin, looks better than Denmark does.

In Denmark, I am allowed to just be 'me' - I am not forced to put on a fake, politically correct mask in order to exist in society, like my original homeland does. I can just be 'me'.

You are absolutely right: just because one wishes to control the influx and behavior of foreigners to ones country does not at all mean that one is a racist, or a neo-nazi.

It just means that we like our home exactly as it is, and only want to invite people we like into it. People who wish to visit us, or even move in with us, must show the same desire to defend, support and maintain it as we do - if they don't, they must find somewhere else to live, because we don't want them in our home.

Whether our home is an actual house or apartment, or an entire nation - the same priniciples apply. Freedom of speech, equality between sexes, protection of children, freedom of sexuality and political views - all are values that Danes like, and that Islam dislikes.

Denmark's, and Europe's mistake over the last 30 years was that we thought "if only they could get a taste of our democracy and free way of life, then they will automatically become like us, and abandon their violent ways".

So we let them move in, expecting them to change their ways - only to discover 20 years later that we were wrong. I see that Sweden has also discovered this the hard way, like the rest of Europe.

The mistake we made back then is the one we are now coming to terms with, and are trying to correct, nation by nation, all over Europe.

I can't vote in Danish elections, because I am an American.

But if I could, I would be the very first in line to vote for the DPP - because I like my home.

I like it exactly as it was, and is, and don't wish to see it change into something I don't like.

Like the Middle East, Pakistan or Afghanistan.
