Spanish Blogger Charged with "Supporting Israel?"

Tue, Oct 24, 2006 at 5:59:59 pm PDT

After criticizing a leftist pro-Palestinian politician, a Spanish blogger has reportedly been served with a summons for the crime of supporting Israel: Galician blogger charged for supporting Israel.

This seems so extreme I suspect something’s been lost in translation; but on the other hand I can’t simply dismiss it out of hand, given the current anti-Israel climate of Europe. Here’s the blogger who says he received the summons: El rincón de la libertad: ¿Juicio político?

And here’s a computer translation of his post:

Two years ago the mayor of the municipality coruñes of Oleiros, that is in addition friend to Fidel Castro, organized a campaign with public money, against the democratic state of Israel. In the occasion of that I sent an email mainly planteándo him my opinion that. Today a citation has arrived me from the court of the penitentiary where it is mentioned to me to declare like imputed “TO BE IN FAVOR OF ISRAEL AND AGAINST the PALESTINIAN TOWN” What opinais?

After a few questions/comments on his blog, Alexandro elaborates (well in a Google version, anyway:

"Unfortunately in the citation that I have they do not appear the positions. These are in the court and they said to me that they could not give copy me, that the lawyer would have to appear to read them. The 30 of November I have the appointment with the judge to declare."

Here are all the comments (I did delete one repeated comment):

Indeed two years ago I entered the page of this city council to look for a direction (to pay a fine that to me nocturnal condition and treachery put in Oleiros with, but that is another subject) and was with the campañita publicitada in its Web, before beyond which even it went to the public opinion.

Here and here.

As a result of that I also dispatched to taste (I did not keep anything) with a pair of e-mails to the city council. So equal another citation arrives to me at me.

I don't know Spaniard law well enough. I suppose it might be a stunt, or, the irony of it, a left-over, little-known regulation from Franco's time.

I'm with D'kian. I'm fluent but not native. It also appears that he was issued a citation which orders him to appear, but which does not actually list the actual charges, and, when he requested them, was told that he could not have a copy of the charges, but only a lawyer could obtain them. Sounds fishy to me.

One of the commenters noted that, if this isn't a joke, it would be a national scandal and, five to one, he can find someone eager to represent him pro bono.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Here is the Spanish:

Hace dos años el alcalde del municipio coruñes de Oleiros, quien es además amigo de Fidel Castro, organizó una campaña con dinero público, en contra del estado democrático de Israel. Con motivo de aquello envié un email planteándo le mi opinión sobre todo eso. Hoy me ha llegado una citación del juzgado de lo penal donde se me cita a declarar como imputado por "ESTAR A FAVOR DE ISRAEL Y EN CONTRA DEL PUEBLO PALESTINO"¿Qué opinais?

And here is the best (non-computer) translation I can do without my dictionary:

"Two years ago, the mayor of Coruñes de Oleiros, who is the friend of Fidel Castro, organized a campaign using public funds, against the democratic state of Israel.

With that in mind, I sent him an email laying out my opinion of all this.

Today, I have received a legal judgement (under the Penal code), wherein they quote me as having declared myself to be "in favor of Israel, and against the people of Palestine." What do you think?"

There follow a number of comments (in Spanish) on the website, including "This has to be a joke" and asking for a scan of the actual notice he received, and the actual charges involved. He is also advised to get a good lawyer.

The OP replies that the actual charges are not in the letter he received; that they are at the (jail? courthouse?) and will only be shown to his lawyer.

I will post, telling this fellow that it's been picked up on LGF.

In Spain, anti-Semitism is new leftist trend

Spanish Jews knew there were hard times ahead. Prime Minister Zapatero has not disappointed them

Ignacio Russell Cano Published: 07.20.06,

Madrid: Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Prime Minister of Spain and Secretary General of the Socialist Party, arrived to power at a time nobody expected, not even inside the Party.

Keen on populist tirades against the United States "Dickhead Bush" and "Ketchup Queen Kerry", his whole campaign did not bring much attention until the moment Al-Qaeda decided to blow up Madrid trains, killing almost 200 people and bringing to an end Spain's membership of the West.

From that moment on, everybody knew nothing would be the same, and Spanish Jews knew there were hard times ahead. Prime Minister Zapatero has not disappointed them.

'Understand Nazis'

Although many experts had foretold of the imminent disappearing of European Jews, nobody expected such a virulent explosion of anti-Semitism in Spain, not even under a Leftist government.

The first signal came on Monday, 5 December, when during a dinner with the Benarroch family, Zapatero and wife began claiming what Vidal Quadras, member of the European Parliament, described on the radio as "a tirade of anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism".

By the moment the Benarroch couple had left ...

Fuck democracy, when it is nothing but a enmity plebiscite, conditioned by haters. Throughout the West, Islamofascist spin consumption has been substituted for reasonable discernment of issues.

While the left-Islamofascist alliance is only poised to take power in the US, creation of conditions for same can be sourced in Bush legitimation of Islamofascism after "Iraqi Freedom." While enshrining "De-Baathization" (Order#1, CPA), "Islamofascization" was indulged to fill in the gap. leftists formed their own alliances with elements of the same movement. Dhimmidumb dominates the entire Free World. Hence, our mortal enemy correctly observes our pathological lack of resolve to fight terror with effective means. What message did Rumsfeld's vomit about perma-war (SLOG) have on the enemy? They reacted: the American jellyfish are handing us decades of jihad, and they are going to use limited-war pop-guns to fight us, allowing eventual war wearyness to dissolve support for the Stupifada.

Bush's predecessors saw the need to "De-Nazify" Germany after WW2; they are rolling in their graves in face of his war on Middle East Secularism, while he indulges the worst forms of "Islamofascicm" to flourish. In Waziristan, the terror-population - enriched by US aid folly - now murder Americans with the aid of cell phones and elaborate weapons and training, facilitated by the suicidal Bush regime. On 9-11, the same peoples faced starvation.

Now Bush has delivered US public diplomacy to moral-equivocators who serve up American resolve as a salient for the enemy. Every time the airhead surrenderist, Karen Hughes, puts on the moist eye, and spews words like "warmth," "comfort" and "freedom," she projects pathological US weakness.

Again, Western Civilization will not win the GWOT until a US President commits to liquidate the entire Islamofascist movement, on a global scale, and depopulates the US of belligerent Muslims. Bush wants Islamofascists to vote in one-time "freedom" farces; his successor will want them to die.

Karen Hughes loves women to women dialogue with conditioned haters, who are prohibited from respecting any Calipha obstacle.

[Link: www.cfr.org...]

The internal Arab enemy loves Karen Hughes and Alberto Fernandez, those morally bankrupts. And for those who are not stricken by the denial-bug, Karen Hughes has always been Bush's closest advisors. Everything she says flows from GWB.

Drug raid yields Los Alamos documents

WASHINGTON - A drug raid on a Los Alamos scientist's home in New Mexico turned up what appeared to be classified documents taken from the nuclear weapons lab, the FBI said Tuesday.

Police discovered the documents at the scientist's home while making an arrest in a methamphetamine investigation, according to an FBI official in Washington who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the case.

The police alerted the FBI to the documents, prompting a federal search of the unidentified female scientist's home. The official would not describe the documents except to say that they appeared to contain classified material.

Like I've said many times in here, we are witnessing a re-run of the 1930s. Except this time the rise of European fascism, which culminated in the Holocaust and 60 million dead in WW2, has become the rise of a potent cocktail of leftists, fascists and islamofascists. This motely crew have in common a hatred of the US, western liberal democratic values, global capitallism and, most of all, Jews.

hitler managed to draw together a coalition of support that was glued together by Jew hatred. That is what we see today, a coalition glued together by Jew hatred, employing the same propaganda imagery that goebels used in the 1930s. It started with the mantra of 'I'm not antisemitic, I just don't like Zionists'. It continued with 'I don't like Zionists and Jews are often Zionists so I don't like Jews'. And now it is 'I don't like Israel, Israel is run by Zionists, they're all Jews and they have planted their illegitimate state on arab land. They don't have the right to exist'.

And hitler also reached the conclusion that we, the Jewish People, don't have the right to exist.

Welcome to the 1930s.

Continued...

52 wrathofG-d  Tue, Oct 24, 2006 4:57:55pm

All of the complaining on LGF about other countries & leftists etc., reminds me of a quote by Hertzl in Der Judenstaat.

The point was that when he was discussing the creation of a "Jewish State", he told warned not to get caught up trying to convince "practical men" & others who were not onboard with the idea...he felt that the "dream" would be realised by those that wanted it & those that didn't would just stay where they are.

Ok so Spain does not like Israel...so what... WHO NEEDS EM?

53 KevinV  Tue, Oct 24, 2006 4:59:48pm

Comment 5:

THIS IS FROM THE OP

Disgracefully, the charges do not appear on the citation. They were at the court and they told me they couldn't give me a copy, that a lawyer will have to be present to even just read them. I have a Nov 30 appointment with the judge to plead.

AHA! Now I can translate the entire original post correctly:

I'm with D'kian. I'm fluent but not native. It also appears that he was issued a citation which orders him to appear, but which does not actually list the actual charges, and, when he requested them, was told that he could not have a copy of the charges, but only a lawyer could obtain them. Sounds fishy to me.

One of the commenters noted that, if this isn't a joke, it would be a national scandal and, five to one, he can find someone eager to represent him pro bono.

You are looking at this from the point of view of the American justice system. In many places in the world you are not entitled to a pro bono lawyer and may very well not know the charges until you appear in court.

Let me give you an example. When I lived in Germany (nearly 40 years ago) the legal blood alcohol limit was 0.05% - in other words, half of a beer. If you drank a single beer and got behind the wheel the cops could stop you and then they could hold you down or even knock you out to administer a blood alcohol test. And they did..

You do not know just how lucky you are. Much as we all complain about our justice system, it is still the fairest in the world.

Spain: Anti-Sharon municipality sign.

Along with the local time and temperature, venomous slogans against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Israel appear on the municipal information board in the northern Spanish town of Oleiros.

“Let’s stop the animal, Sharon the assassin, stop the neo-Nazis,” reads the bright-red illuminated sign in the town of a few thousand people located in the Galicia region.

Today I've received a summons from the penal court where I'm summoned to depose as the accused for the crime of 'being in favor of Israel and against the Palestinian People'. What do you think?"

Yes, it is what it seems.

I emailed Barcepundit about this. I hope he'll post a thread either on his blog or on PJ Media.

#46 Wrath of G-d

Agree entirely. But I doubt Olmert will be in power for too long. He was voted in to expel Jews from Jewish Land and the results of Judenrein Gaza have put a stop to that in the main. But if he can't vacate the West Bank, what else has a one issue party like Kadima got to look forward to?

I'm hoping for a sharp shift to the right as soon as Olmert loses it altogether.

"“Let’s stop the animal, Sharon the assassin, stop the neo-Nazis,” reads the bright-red illuminated sign in the town of a few thousand people located in the Galicia region."

Perhaps, and I know I am too lazy to start this, a postcard campaign would help.

Jews should send postcards to the town. A standard text that quickly summarizes how Sharon saved Israel and its people from being overrun and murdered and the greeting "Sorry we are still alive." at the end.

(Non-Jews can add "Sorry they are still alive.")

I think these Nazis should constantly be reminded of what the ultimate result of their attitude always was and always will be, if left unchecked.

And perhaps we can get David Duke to declare his support for the town?

This 'mayor' is a far left communist and also a separatist. Though in Galicia people is wise enough not to think they are 'different', (as some vasques or catalonians do), communists uses separartism to tear apart Spain with the agreement of now ruling socialists.
Just today you could see ETA sepaking on the european parliament (not capital).
There is no law in spain since ETA is now more powerful than ever and giving his support to the government in a fake 'peace process' after 1000 killed, (read appeassement process). Judges are now easing terrorist penalties. Government pretends there is not anything happening but the smell in the air is not good. When they say this would be a scandal in a normal country, USA for example, here, the MSM ruled by the government not even talk about it.
Yes indeed, Spain has become a lawless country and we are heading right towards a caribbean republic if not a civil war due to what you can smell.

Let's make it easy. 193 died, 1400 wounded. The government hated by terrorists falls. ZP gets the chair. His government is weak and need the support of independentists, terrorists included. Terrorists don't kill, socialists keep in power and even can win next elections. MSM call all of these 'peace process'.
And you got that subhuman in charge of a 30 000 towns spitting his harmful stupidity.
Please, send ONE Ranger to take that town over, our army is not allowed 'yet'.

# 14 mommydoc:

I'm with D'kian. I'm fluent but not native. It also appears that he was issued a citation which orders him to appear, but which does not actually list the actual charges, and, when he requested them, was told that he could not have a copy of the charges, but only a lawyer could obtain them. Sounds fishy to me.

Franz Kafka was from Europe. Like Orwell after him, Kafka's fiction is becoming reality.

#14 mommydoc,

Mexican law, such as it is, sprang largely from Spaniard law as practiced from the XVI through the XVIII centuries.

Down here, you would be informed of the general charge but not the specifics. For those, you may well need a lawyer. For example, you may be told you're charged with slander of a public official, but not told, until and unless you find a lawyer that can grease the machinery, what it is someone claims you ssaid or wrote (this is a rather extreme example).
