-RetweetHilarious Lefty Racism Charge of the Day

Wed, Oct 25, 2006 at 4:29:05 pm PDT

In a campaign filled with manufactured controversies, overhyped scandals, and mean-spirited personal attacks, this is without doubt today’s most idiotic lefty brouhaha: TN-SEN: Corker Radio Ad Has Tom-Tom Drums During Mentions Of Ford.

(Hat tip: Allahpundit.)

Listen to the MP3 included on that page (an ad by GOP candidate Bob Corker), and you’ll hear some fairly standard dramatic music, probably from a stock CD of music samples, featuring what sounds like tympani drums.

But to the lefties, these are ... racist jungle drums!

It’s obvious, man!

This is why we call them the Nutroots.

No, Charles, the most ridiculous leftyy racism charge was the one made against Kinky Friedman in the Texas Governor race. Kinky (who was onced a comedian) long ago recorded a schpiel in which he mocks racists. During the act -- an essential part of it -- he uses the word "n*igger" while assuming the role of the racist.

Well, the Dems got ahold of that and had a field day. "Friedman Used Racist Slur!" screamed the headlines. No matter that he used it as part of an anti-racist monologue!

The Dems have been outrageously shameful this campaign season.

The second most ridiculous race-baiting charge -- and the most disgusting one -- is when Lamont and a group of black activists accused Lieberman of lying when he claimed to have been a Civil Rights marcher in the early '60s. They called him a liar in public.

Then Lieberman produced photos of him marching and articles he had written at the time about his experience.

Shut them up right quick. And it backfired big-time. Lieberman went way up in the polls afterward.

Nothing I say can offend you...unless you choose to be offended. I guess the LLL has discovered that it's best chance to regain power is to choose to be offended by everything. Polite people normally apologize when they offend someone. The apology is then seen as proof of the offense.
Perhaps we can still be polite without apologizing too quick for every "offense".

Koskidz...
TN-Sen: Republican Ad Uses "Jungle Drum" Sounds For Mentions of Black Senate Candidate
by Hunter

The Southern Strategy -- appealing to the racist base -- isn't just alive and well in the Republican Party, it seems to be making a sudden resurgence. Jungle drums? Seriously, freakin' jungle drums? Are we back in the goddamn nineteeth century now, or is it just Corker himself in this little GOP time warp? Corker's "jungle drums" ad isn't just "a little bit" racist. It's not something that can be misconstrued. It's flagrant, it's obvious, it's intentional.

What a remarkable bastard. Clearly, Corker thinks the racist vote is big and important, in Tennessee. The Republicans certainly know their base, so maybe he's right.

This is why Dems can't/won't win in the south. Elitist rhetoric and labeling southerners as racisist isn't going to sway the votes of those who drive pickuptrucks and work for a living.

They've been claiming almost every ad, whether in print, video, or pamplet against Ford is racist.

This has been going on for weeks.

On Oct 7th, I posted this

OT - GOP caught sending racist campaign messages against US Senate candidate Harold Ford.

How racist? You decide. Quotes from the flyer here.

"He passes himself off as someone with a deep connection to the Volunteer State, but he gets obscene amounts of liberal money from out-of-state."

"Harold Ford is a smooth operator, cunning and disguising his real record, opportunistic as can be, hypocritical as they come and a true danger to Tennessee."

Did you, like me, miss the racism?

Thankfully, we have the State Democrat Chairmen to explain it to us.

Blacks acting as if they are white may be said to be passing themselves off, Tuke said. "Smooth operator" is the title of a well-known song performed by Sade that refers to a "black smooth operator," he said.
You can fact check what he says about the lyrics of Sade's song for yourself here.

But wait! There is more racism!

The letter also refers to Ford and former President Bill Clinton as "cut from the same camouflage cloth" in bold type.

"They ought to be ashamed of themselves," said Tuke. "It's disgusting and sad that in 2006 a supposedly mainstream political party would be mailing out trash like this."

Camouflage, which rather than refering to Ford's attempt to appear moderate when he is in fact liberal, is clearly code for black.

Right?

Also said to be racist, this video here.

See if you can catch the hidden racism. Hint: It has nothing to do with illegal aliens from Mexico nor Arabic or Muslim terrorism.

34 rtheyserius  Wed, Oct 25, 2006 2:43:55pm
Bill Lockhart, the program director for WGOW, confirmed the authenticity of the ad and that it's running on the station. "They're freaking jungle-drums," Lockhart tells us. "It's racist -- it tries to conjure up deep, dark African moods. Yeah, it's overtly racial."

-- Greg Sargent, "Election Central"

What can you do but sigh and shake your head? Overtly racial tympani. What are these people smokin'?

35 MJBrutus  Wed, Oct 25, 2006 2:44:28pm

I heard a lib on the local radio asking people if Obama couldn't be elected Pres because he's black. The very question explains why libs wouldn't think of nominating a black man, but not why Obama couldn't win. Libs think of most of the nation as Red-State rednecks who wouldn't consider voting for a black man (or woman for that matter). For that reason, they wouldn't nominate one, believing their own stupid lies about the rest of us.

A racist around every corner.

The tired and fallacious argument and decrepit strategy of the left. Brand someone as racist, and you (think) you essentially shut them down. It’s not working very well anymore, Donks. Most of us wish to see racism in its true form eliminated, but you morons have now attempted to equate it with everything you disagree with. Try using logical discourse, versus shit-slinging for a change. You might win an election.

/just a tip from your avowed enemy

39 Menorah  Wed, Oct 25, 2006 2:46:40pm

The racial card sure is being played in Tennessee. The polls show that 98% of the blacks are voting for Harold Ford, Jr., and the reason for this is that he is black, not qualified. This is racism! Check him out here: [Link: www.fancyford.com...]

Similarly sad post from the DNC blog tonight:

Based on my research as a psychologist, the principal concerns of our daily lives revolve around five key issues: vulnerability, injustice, distrust, superiority, and helplessness. Political leaders whose public statements effectively engage these five concerns are well-positioned to garner support for their policies. Such appeals can be entirely legitimate and quite valuable in the pursuit of progressive ends, but many conservatives instead use them to pursue a narrow agenda that benefits the few while leaving most of us worse off. For those who might be further interested in this analysis, I've put together a video entitled "Dangerous Ideas: How Conservatives Exploit Our Five Core Concerns"

Here is what wikipedia says about tom-toms.

To me (and I think to most people) they have always been identified with Indians. To call them "jungle drums" (like Sargent does)seems pretty darn racist, as if any drums = African, and any African drums = jungle. Or maybe all minorities look alike to him.

As if we didn't know;

U.S. Muslims mostly Democrats

America's Muslim voters are a young, highly educated and prosperous voting bloc that will overwhelmingly back Democrats in November, according to a survey released yesterday by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

They are also coming of age in terms of political representation. Next month, Democratic nominee Keith Ellison of Minneapolis is poised to become the first Muslim member of the House of Representatives. He says, if elected, he will take his oath of office with his hand on the Koran instead of the Bible.

Which explains why Keith Ellison met with CAIR last week.

The sad part is that it wasn't long ago that Harold Ford was a moderate politician. MOONBAT MATH:

So the Lancet says 200000 Iraqis died because of 5 years of US invasion. Let's say that's true.

Other sources such as the UNICEF say 500000 kids died during the 10 year UN imposed sanctions. Some say more than 800000 (and back then I remember numbers like 2 million being thrown around).

Take the 500000 admitted by the then UN ambassador Madeleine Albright in 1996 (on 60 minutes) after 6 years of sanctions. Round it off to 100k a year.

So if the US had not invaded Iraq, the sanctions would have killed 500k Iraqis. So 500k minus 200k equals 300k.

Three hundred thousand Iraqis are alive today becase Bush ignored the UN and invaded Iraq.

Any questions from the left? These are Your figures.

You are right. They could be construed as "black" instruments. Guitars are associated with black musicians too. Hmmm...I guess we'll just have to play those jungle drums a little more effeminately. Maybe we could work in Andrew Sullivan's nasally British voice.

On Hewitt, the very patriot, very pro-voting-GOP struck me when I first started listening to him as phony. When he talks about local politics I usually turn it off.

But after understanding his ideology I think I agree with him on core points: America needs more people like Santorum, Reagan and Goldwater to lead the country, yet if reality does not offer the possibility, America in the hands of the Donks will decline. These are rough times because the left are such freaks.

Journalists nailed for playing ethnic card: This is a letter to the editor from the Mayor of Costa Mesa, who is running for re-election, and who objects to being grouped with two other candidates as an Arab-American. (One of the other two is Bill Dalati.)

It seems that Steel's concern was not that this issue involved an "Arab-American" but the alleged actions of the person. If that is the case, then the title of the story should have read "Reporters and editors purposeful selection of divisionary labeling creates ethnic tension and inflames contest."[...]I am proud of my parents and my heritage, but I am an American – without a hyphen.

Always be mindful - the charge of "racism" no longer has the meaning that it used to have. And that goes for "(fill in the blank)phobic" and "bigoted". The anti-thought process is truly disturbing. The issues of equality and justice are no longer front-and-center, in the traditional sense. That observation as applied to liberal ideology. Please wake up, those of you who consider yourselves "oppressed minorities". The Donks are not doing you any favors at all. Period. They are as self-serving and uncaring as any Repub politico you have ever accused as such. And finally, remember one thing - your party caters to and blesses Islamic extremism. Famous Democratic Party Actions Of The Past

Congress responded to reports of violence against freed people by introducing harsher policies toward the South and weakening the plantation elite's political power. During Radical Reconstruction, many former Confederates were disfranchised while African Americans were allowed to vote and hold office. The result was massive and enthusiastic participation by black people in politics. Approximately 90 percent of black males of voting age were registered in Louisiana in 1867. Although not officially allowed to vote, black women influenced the political agenda by expressing their views at mass meetings and by encouraging men to vote for the candidates whom they believed would best protect their interests. African Americans' voting strength and their active involvement in the Republican Party helped to elect a new state legislature in 1868 that was evenly divided between white and black representatives. African Americans also held the offices of lieutenant governor, state superintendent of education, and state treasurer. At the parish level, scores of black people served as sheriff, mayor, police juror, justice of the peace, tax collector, and in other administrative positions.[10]

On April 13, 1873, a group of African-American men, (Republicans) led by several veterans of the Union army, found themselves under siege in the town of Colfax, Louisiana. For weeks the men had been preparing for conflict, marching and drilling in the hot Louisiana sun. Their efforts were spurred on by increased racial violence that had been erupting sporadically throughout the state following the disputed 1872 elections. In mid-April, the conflict reached a boiling point in Colfax, when hundreds of men from the White League, (Democrats) a radical offshoot of the Ku Klux Klan, stormed the town. At the end of the day, only three members of the White League had died, while hundreds of blacks were either shot or burned alive in the parish courthouse. This incident proved to Ulysses S. Grant how truly difficult it would be to make good on his presidential campaign slogan, "Let Us Have Peace."

Do you know the greatest irony of all? It wasn't the Democrats that brought about the Emancipation Proclamation. It was the Democrats that brought about legalized segregation. The first two black Senators were Republicans from Mississippi in the late 1800's.

White Republicans were murdered in Louisiana for supporting blacks and trying to register them after the Civil War.

It was both Republicans and Democrats that brought about the Civil Rights Amendment of 1964. The history of southern democrats is rife with the KKK.

Dems don't want people to know about this.

There are many angles to take on the tampani angle; (see 103) Italiophibic, francophobic, even islamaphobic...

Arabic nakers, the direct ancestors of timpani, were brought to 13th century Europe by Crusaders and Saracens. These drums, which were small (around 20–22 cm or 8–8½ in in diameter) and mounted to the player's belt, were used primarily for military ceremonies. This form of timpani remained in use until the 16th century.

Dems never cease to be able to manufacture outrage out of nothing. Honestly, did not know Ford is supposed to be "black" until yesterday. He looks Caucasian to me. Sorry racially-provoked dudes and dudettes, that's how he appears to the uninformed, out of stater, and I even watched his entire church ad - showing everyone how Christian he is by filming himself looking sincerely pious inside a church sanctuary. Most heart-felt Christians wouldn't dream of disgracing themselves in front of God in His House. Guess a non-believer wouldn't know that... About the drums in the ad ... western to the core, and that's from someone who had the chance to hear one of the world's top African djembe musicians practicing every day at 2pm-4 pm in the Jardins de 2 October in downtown Conakry, Guinea. Some posters would know this, but for others, Guinea drum musicians attract students from all over the world. That's where some of the marching moonbats with their djembes learned to play. Now, they pay good money to learn to play, then end up banging the drums against western imperialists on western city streets, whereas the Guinean musician who we heard every day was teaching abandoned boys how to play so that they could earn a living.

Is the add trying to give the impression that Ford is a follower of Saruman or Sauron?

That's the "take-away" (horrible corporate buzzword, sorry) I got from the music.

I'm late to the thread, and sorry if I'm repeating this.

The tom-tom is NOT of African origin! The tom-tom originates from East Asia - specifically, India - from the Hindi word tam-tam, as well as the Malay tong-tong and the Sinhalese tamat tama.

Although tom-toms are also sometimes connected with Native Americans, as a rule, they used larger, communal drums.

I have a djembe, which IS an instrument of African origin (and which is a heck of a lot of fun to play in drumming circles. A LOT of fun.)

When I was a kid, I had a set of tom-toms. I thought I was a beatnick. :)

The lefties need some great background music for their ads too (since the candidates themselves lack any greatness).
I'd like to offer this National Lampoon classic for consideration:

Well-Intentioned Blues

I wish I was a Negro, with lots of Negro soul,
so I could stay true to my ethnic roots and still play rock and roll.
If I was a funky Negro, eatin’ soul food barbecues,
then I wouldn’t have to sing the middle class liberal Well-Intentioned Blues.

I wish I was an Indian, a grown-up Sioux papoose,
so when I get drunk on a beer and a half I’d have a good excuse.
I’d be a noble savage, wouldn’t ever wear no shoes,
and I wouldn’t have to sing the middle class liberal Well-Intentioned Blues.

I wish I was a wetback on a strike in a lettuce patch
or a slant-eyed peasant with Viet Cong stashed underneath my thatch.
I’d only ever cross a picket line to pay my union dues
and I wouldn’t have to sing the middle class liberal Well-Intentioned Blues.

But I am not a Negro, not a red man nor a Mex. (Join me, kids!)
I’m a member of the oppressing color, language, age and sex.
I sympathize with the Arab cause; I feel for the put-upon Jews.
And I keep singing –
the middle class liberal –
humanitarian –
meaningful dialogue –
we are all responsible Well-Intentioned Blues.

#2: On top of the RNC ad (NOT a Corker ad) ending with the sultry blonde telling Harold "call me", I'm sure you've all heard about the Corker press conference that Junior crashed. I thought Junior finally showed himself to be the young punk-ass he really is and I thought Corker handled it like a real man (to wit, he told Junior "This is MY press conference" and turned his back and walked off).

#3: Audio and video making the rounds today of Harold Ford senior, who evidently has the local Fox affiliate on speed dial; some Corker supporters showed up at Junior's campaign HQs --- Senior whips out his cell phone, calls the local Fox station and says "we've got this cracker down here from one of Corker's...this cracker...and your people are down here filming this".

Harold Ford's Uncle John was arrested in 05 by the FBI during a raid on the Tennessee Legislative Chamber. Junior fesses up to going to a Playboy Super Bowl party ("I like football and I like girls - no apologies"). Junior tries to physically intimidate and disrupt a Corker presser. And now Harold Senior is on tape calling people crackers.

Lots of folks here thought Junior won the debates. Fair enough. But even for people who aren't plugged in to the issues much, it looks to me like this Senate seat will stay with the Republicans, not because of anything substantive or issue-related, but because of the actions of the Fords themselves.

Not only is this standard fare for Memphis, it's also pretty tame. There are two political parties, Republicans and the Perpetually Offended, Hateful and Resentful.

Good people are resigned to it because they know if they raise their voices they're accused of racism, and for that there is no defense.

Oh, sort of off topic, but someone mentioned Obama. We were in Kenya this summer when he swished in, come home to visit grannie. The Kenyans were all a titter, the Kenyan press was filled with gushing Obama-tales. His back to the village shamba (family farm) safari (Swahili for "trip") ended rather lamely. He said a few things that the Kenyan government construed as ... criticism and "poof" all that good warm huggy feeling was gone and there was nothing but, "What does this Obama character know about Kenyan affairs?"

Ford goes to NYC to raise funds. Corker stayed in Tennessee.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but they are that insane.

I work with someone who hasn't talked to me for two years because he's convinced I'm a Republican (the best part of that is the fact that a third party had to tell me- I didn't notice!) I've also heard endless 'Cheney is the devil' conversations, as well as the 'America deserved 9/11' conversations, of course, the 'Iraq is Vietnam' conversation. These discussions happen every single day in liberal bizarro land.

Let's see, if the ad incorporated jazz instead of kettle drums, it would be perceived as making light of New Orleans after Katrina...

If the ad featured heavy metal, it would be perceived as a celebration of sex, drugs, and rock & roll...

If it featured classic rock, that would be pandering to the evil white male, age 30-60...

If it featured country, it would be pandering to the redneck NASCAR voter...

If opera; pandering to filthy rich, white Republicans...

Ir it featured rap, no one would be able to understand it and that would be OK to them, plus it would celebrate the gang-banger (read: future Dem voter) culture that is so rich!

---How the L3 perceives our great Nation.

Okay, a setting-the-record-straight post from someone living in the belly of the beast,AKA the Ford Machine:
The reason that Ford will not be the next senator from TN has nothing to do with his race, but plenty to do with the races rigged and fixed by his family members, among other crimes and misdemeanors. His family tree reads like a rap sheet, with every one from uncles to aunts to cousins indicted or convicted on charges ranging from domestic violence and drug possession (Uncle Jake, running for Harold Jr's soon to be vacant House seat), to Uncle John (a state senator now under federal indictment for attempted bribery of an FBI agent) to Aunt Ophelia, whose state senate election victory was recently tossed due to finding that multiple dead voters comprised her thirteen vote majority). There are more.
Given that Ford's father, former Rep Harold Sr, is now a lobbyist for Fannie Mae, and Harold Jr is on the House Banking Committee...well, you see the problem.

194 MandyManners  Wed, Oct 25, 2006 6:32:06pm

IN respect to this incident which occured in 1990 I guess I am behind the times. After some research I found he was charged but not convicted. However he got in some more trouble in the late '90s for threatening some utility workers in Memphis with a shotgun, and had to to do some real legal wrangling to worm out of that one. Five charges of aggravated assault, each charge could have meant 3-15 yrs. And he was just indicted for some corruption crimes just the other day, am I right. I am caught up now, Miss Manners? :)

207 playblu  Wed, Oct 25, 2006 7:18:57pm

Okay.

I'm a professional musician.

The drums ARE LOUDER under mentions of Ford than under Corker. There is timpani in there, but the drums that play under the passages about Ford ARE NOT TIMPANI. They are generic tom-type drums. They could very well be African drums.

The background music was mixed purposely so that a distinction was drawn between Ford (drums are louder) and Corker (choir is louder). It sounds pretty tacky to me, associate your candidate with angelic choirs and the opponent with drum sounds.

DON'T PUSH THIS. It's not your typical crazy leftist crap.

#207,

Maybe not , but it is your typical ' find a racial element in ANY race ' crap. The lazy campaigner's refuge, it's now a position to which democrats are safety-wired.

The use of background drum sounds, ominous ones, is common in commercials to indicate approaching disaster, or danger, which...well,it's not fraught with racial undertones.
Hey, whatever floats your boat... happy trollin'.

Ford's money is almost totally out-of-state generated. Don Imus has practically taken him to raise,(sorry, that's a southern thang for ya'll from up Nawth) and Hollywood sees him as Obama-Barack- Lite.

Tennesseeans knew better than to let Al Gore take the White House in 2000, and I find it hard to believe that they will put his state campaign manager in the US Senate.

The Ford family of Memphis: A TN political dynasty that endures

The above is a pretty good overview of the Ford family of Memphis.

The family is a political force in Tenn. and in the Memphis community. The family business of old (N.J. Ford and Sons, a funeral home), was involved in the civil rights movement and community affairs. Several of Newton Ford's children got involved in politics.

Uncle Emmitt Ford has been convicted in an FBI bribery sting (he also threatened to shoot an FBI agent); he has a long history of misuse of power - pulling guns on people, etc.
Uncle John Ford is awaiting trial in the same FBI bribery sting, "Operation Tennessee Waltz."
Aunt Ophelia Ford won John Ford's state senate seat (he quit because of the FBI rap) and won, but that was revoked when massive voting irregularities were uncovered (there have been several indictments).
Jake Ford (Harold Jr.'s brother) is running for Harold Jr.'s old seat - as an independent (the Dems are not amused). He has a rap sheet for offenses ranging from marijuana possession to Driving Under the Influence to assault upon his father.

All that is family stuff. I think the Fords are old-style politicians, but if anything, I have to give Harold Jr. credit for forebearance in suffering his relations.

In March 2006, Harold Jr. said his grandmother Vera was white. This made a lot of people angry. I thought it was weird that he would do that - a lot of black people were really offended (she was a well-known woman, and the black community was annoyed). Don't know WHY he did that. Obviously, he is mixed race, but who cares if his mom was white, at this point? Better to leave it alone.

I also want to go on record as not caring if Harold Jr. went to a Playboy party but caring if he lies about having done so. He didn't lie, but he obfuscated for a while before coming out an admitting he went. You know, like President Clinton (e.g., that depends on what the definition of "is" is).

Finally, based on the comments of an ex-girlfriend - I wouldn't date the guy. Here is her Web site.

I was blackballed from THE WEST WING when they found out that I voted for Bush. Laid off another good Hollywood job when I called Michael Moore a commie and ridiculed F911. Moonbats/Dems are the most intolerant group of people of all time. I shudder when I contemplate their numbers.

214 republic  Wed, Oct 25, 2006 8:12:06pm

The only true racists which I have known of, in my entire life, have been all Democrats, including many who are relatives of mine, and they vote Dem every election, and they are non stop racists.

The fact that the Democratic party has Robert Byrd, a confirmed member of the KKK, with his non stop racial slurs, which many are on tape, make the Dems the biggest racists, hypocrites and bigots in this country.

The Dems think they can fool the people, because the Dems think the average American is a dumb hick, well, those "dumb hicks" are going to vote them out of office on November 7th, the sale of Prozac will skyrocket, suicide rates will explode, and then we'll all get to hear, for another two years, about how corrupt, racist, etc, that the GOP is.

"Obladi, oblada life goes on OOO

And to leave you all with this thought,

Just think what it would be like waking up tommorow as a kook leftst.

Leftards are the most prejudiced people on earth. I have plenty of favorite musicians and actors who are tail-spinning moonbats, and I don't hold that against them: I enjoy their work anyway. But when THEY find out I'm a libertarian/conservative musician? Forget it. I'll never see 'em at another gig again. They aren't ALL like that, of course, but way too many of them are. Way more lefties choke on libertarian artists than the other way around, that's for sure.

Perhaps this thread is no longer, however, I happen to think the add with the white bimbo did invoke, or was supposed to invoke, a racist trope. I would like to say for the record I am no moonbat and you can pull all my comments if you'd like to. Racism is one of the historical strains of American culture that people sometimes use.

I listened to the ad. If you can listen to the drum tract on that and hear "racism" in it, you are a racist yourself. It didn't sound any different than an old detective show tract that plays when the villian enters a scene.

Anyone seen the "Zion" "Prayers" scence in the second Matrix movie?
People dressed in scant clothing, ankle jewelry, and doing "native indian-style" dancing to HUGE drums. Guess which political philosophy the Wachowskie's wrote the series fall into? But what would you expect from the people who brough you "V for Vendetta"?

I'm one of the countless hicks here in Tenn. The thing I don't like about the radio ad is it implies that become some jack ass is from them there "yanky bad lands" that he must suck. Hell fire!

While the truth of the matter is we, as the people of Tenn, don't have issues with people based on where they are from, or what school they went to. We want the best man for the job, so to that end, the radio spot sucks because all it implies is X is a yankie and have been involved in politics for a long time.. OH NO!

227 conservativegirl  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 9:34:35am

There is a message that grand mothers in the "old" days would say, "doctor heal thy self" that is the message that needs to be given to liberals who think they are the "holier than thou" party.

They suppress Blacks in their own party, Obama who supported Liberman before the primary and stumped for him, now has to "tow the line" and support Lamont. Democrats keep "thier Blacks" on the plantation. They think the victims they hold up as heroes are beyond reproach (Cindy Sheehan, Michael J. Fox), that they need to tell us to stop driving cars because of global warming, while they jet off on their corporate jets.

They tell us that all war is wrong. Everyone's habits must be tolerated, whether they are acceptable to us or not and they tell us that they have free speech, but will not let us tell them when we don't like what they say. It is simple; liberals are selfish, spoiled, coddled hypocrites.

We need to hammer them on this point everyday by publishing articles illustrating all of them and their hypocritical behavior and words, and we must be relentless.

The notion of a "guitar solo" has preconceptions based on it; people automatically refute it because it's supposed to be self-indulgent or "for musicians." It's almost like things become iconographic and somehow lose their value for outsiders.

Well, who's fault is that? That's what _writers_ do. Musicians don't do that. The average person doesn't sit around thinking about "iconographic problems of a guitar solo." -- Interview for Musician magazine, by Matt Resnicoff, November 1991. Reprinted in July 1995 Issue.
