Javier Solana says: ‘Hamas doesn’t want to destroy Israel’.

Hamas wants to “liberate the Palestinians,” not to destroy Israel, Javier Solana, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

In an interview following his talks in Tel Aviv with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Solana insisted that it was “not impossible” for Hamas to change and “recognize the existence of Israel.”

History had shown that people and nations “adapt to reality,” he said. “I don’t want to lose hope.”

Pressed as to whether he was underestimating the fundamentalist religious imperative at the heart of the Hamas ideology, Solana said, “I cannot imagine that the religious imperative, the real religious imperative, can make anybody destroy another country... Therefore that is an abuse of religion...”

I don’t think the essence of Hamas is the destruction of Israel. The essence of Hamas is the liberation of the Palestinians,” he added. “The liberation of their people, not the destruction of Israel.”

This mind-blowingly obtuse utterance has to rank right up there with Neville Chamberlain’s “peace in our time.” In order to believe something like this, you have to ignore decades of statements from Hamas leaders—not to mention the genocidal Hamas charter itself. This is the European sickness, encapsulated in one incredibly stupid man.

There are a lot of things I can't imagine why people do. But they do it anyway!

Either Solana is mentally retarded, or he's sick to his sould with a fatal case of "Noble Savageitis."

Maybe they're not liberated cause they have teeny tiny minds that are filled with hate. And don't think javier that these sweet words will keep the brothers from killling you and your people. Witness a classic example of the leftist mind at work. There are no evil people, regardless of what they do or say. More properly, there are no people who we, given our superior skills in understanding and caring, cannot eventually have singing kumbaya with their current enemies. They merely need to put their faith in and become like us.

Javier Solana certainly shows that Fjordman was right in this essay:
Why the European Union Must be Dismantled
[Link: www.jihadwatch.org...]

Some poor European the other day was quoted as saying, "We don't know how to fight for freedom, we only know how to enjoy freedom."

Well, it is time Europeans learn that coddling terrorists and hoping to be the last ones they kill just won't do.

Hamas hasn't budged one inch, and isn't going to.

34 lawhawk  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 7:18:56am

Herr Solana:

The recognition of existence is not the same as the right to exist.

Hamas knows that Israel exists. They recognize the existence. It's enshrined in the Hamas charter after all. The problem Herr Solana, is that Hamas seeks to roll the clock back to 1947 - and eliminate Israel from the roll of nations.

It seeks Israel's annihilation by all the means at its disposal. Now, that happens to include using useful idiots like yourself who are deluded into thinking that recognition of existence equals the right to exist.

They do not.

Hamas has long recognized that Israel exists. It uses that as a rallying cry to call for its ongoing destruction.

Herr Solana, you also seem to be woefully sheltered if you think that religious imperatives cannot rally people to destroy another country. History is repleat with examples, from the Islamic conquests of the Middle East to the Crusades.

And it is invoked every day by the jihadis who seek to force the West to submit to their version of Islam.

That you do not think it exists shows that you are blind to the problem. It is there for all the world to see. That you choose not to look is an even bigger problem because you are closed minded to the possibility.

This is the European sickness, encapsulated in one incredibly stupid man.

Yes, that certainly captures the essence of what is wrong with a man such as Solana. Namely, he is guided by a powerfully self-destructive ideology which has led to a deep contempt for Western civilization and to a state of being cut-off by some kind of psychological mechanism from the natural, vital instincts for self-preservations. Europeans who are facing reality ought to know, and I am sure they do, that this is not an attack on them personally, but on the leftist ideologuy which dominates Europe and roughly %50 of America.

43 Geepers  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 7:22:13am

Dirk Diggler (#13),

Actually IIRC Neville Chamberlain had no choice but to negotiate. In 1938 the RAF wasn't ready for war.

Yes, not a good analogy at all. He was negotiating from a position of weakness. On the ride from the airport Chamberlain himself admitted there would be war soon.

Solana has no such excuse.

No he doesn't.

Why Solana would lie for Hamas is rooted in Jew hatred, not political realities.

44 coz  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 7:23:16am

Solana should read a bible:

Psalm 83: (to God) ..."see how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.
"Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more."

With one mind they plot together; they form an allegiance against you - the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot."

And if he still has any doubts, he can get a map of the ancient countries and do an overlay with a current map to see just who is being discussed here.

Hans Blix, another useful idiot, says that Iraq would have been better off if Saddam were still in power.

Blix said the situation would have been better if the war had not taken place.

"Saddam would still have been sitting in office. Okay, that is negative and it would not have been joyful for the Iraqi people. But what we have gotten is undoubtedly worse," he was quoted as saying.

That's right - because the hundreds of thousands of people Saddam murdered doesn't quite make the same kind of headlines as jihadis, dead-enders, and Shi'ites seeking revenge for the deaths of their kinsmen at the hands of Saddam's Ba'athists, are busy killing folks while the US is trying to stabilize the situation.

The anti-Semitism of European leftists, which is neither secretive nor hidden at all but quite a common sentiment (cf. the Guardian, Le Monde or any Spanish socialist party), is rooted in a self-hatred for Western civilation and its Christian formulation over more than a thousand years. This core identity and historical self-perception is itself, of course, deeply rooted in Judaism. Marx is the clearest example of this Western reaction against ethical monotheism, as Prager wrote in Nine Questions People Ask About Judaism. It's a large and complex topic indeed, but we can point to particular moments in which this expression of the leftist pathology is most clear and essential, e.g. in the current problem in Europe with Islam.

56 BabbaZee  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 7:39:54am

Javier Solana And The EU

As of 2004, there is increased reliance on Javier Solana by the EU and the WEU. On June 29,, 2004 Javier Solana was selected by the Council of the European Union to be its first Foreign Minister under the new EU Constitution. Until formal ratification of the constitution occurs (planned for 2006), Solana is de facto exercising the defined powers of that future office as well as being responsible for the approximately upwards of 26 billion EURO budget (formerly reserved for the Commissioner of External Affairs). Solana no longer travels with the EU Rotating Presidency and the Commissioner of External Affairs as the reigning EU “troika” — since the vote of the Council of Ministers, Solana now speaks and travels as the sole voice rather than one of three voices.

The Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to implement Allah’s promise, whatever time that may take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: “The Day of Judgment will not come about until the Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them), until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: Oh Muslim! Oh Abdullah!, there is a Jew behind me, come on and kill him. Only the Gharqad tree would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.”

This is why they believe that...

An army will come from the East towards Arabia. The East here refers to Khurasan, i.e. northeastern Iran, which includes the borders of the Soviet Union and Afghanistan. They will pave the way for the establishment of Imam Mahdi's kingdom. This army will carry black banners. Nothing shall stop their onward march, and eventually they will plant their flag on the soils of Jerusalem.

This army will seek the leadership of Arabia. The current leader will refuse to hand over the Khilafat.

A tremendously fierce battle will ensue, the likes of which Muslims had never yet experienced. The army from Khurasan will be victorious and will eventually be granted the leadership.

Imam Mahdi's appearnce as the New Khaleefah:

Having gained the right to appoint the new Khaleefah, they will nominate a member of their army, a man from The Holy Prophet's family, for this position. This man will be The Mahdi, who had also joined the ranks of this army when they entered Arabia.

Egyptian police seize 1 ton of high explosives hidden in Sinai

Published: 10.27.06, 18:41

Egyptian police have recovered nearly one tonne of high explosives hidden in a mountainous area of central Sinai, security sources said on Friday.

The explosives were buried in 13 plastic bags and were discovered by bedouin trackers working for the government, according to the sources, who did not specify the type of explosive. The area where the discovery was made has been the site of previous shootouts between police and suspects wanted for bombings in Sinai over the past two years. (Reuters)

However, that is not say that Hamas does not want to destroy all Israelis in the process.

But once all the Israelis are gone, Israel can be turned into a Palestinian Garden of Eden by Hamas(Choke, gag, barf, WOOOHOOO! - boy, I couldn't keep my composure on that one).

81 halldor  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 8:43:00am

The sickness may be European, or it may affect the whole of the Western world. Here's Chas. W. Freeman, ex-U.S. ambassador to China and Saudi Arabia, addressing a USIA alumni gathering on October 4, 2006:

...the threat the United States now faces is vastly less grave but much more ill-defined than that we faced during the Cold War. That era, which most here lived through, was one in which decisions by our president and his Soviet counterpart could result in the death, within hours, of over a hundred million Americans and a comparable number of Soviet citizens. That threat was existential. The threat we now face is not. Muslim extremists seek to drive us from their lands by hurting us. They neither seek to destroy nor to convert nor to conquer us. They can in fact do none of these things. The threat we now face does not in any way justify the sacrifice of the civil liberties and related values we defended against the far greater threats posed by fascism or Soviet communism. Terrorists win if they terrorize; to defeat them, we must reject inordinate fear and the self-destructive things it may make us do.

The irony is that during the Cold War it was retired U.S. diplomats of precisely the Freeman type who used to make such comments regarding the "exaggerated" nature of the Soviet threat.

Solana the Imbecile mouthpiece for the pandering capitulations of the Jew-hating Eurosluts who will side with anyone that threatens their cocoon and has cheap OIL!

More from Belloc (you learn a lot at this site):

Mohammedanism was a heresy ;that is the essential point to grasp
before going any further. It began as a heresy, not as a new religion. It
was not a pagan contrast with the Church; it was not an alien enemy. It
was a perversion of Christian doctrine. Its vitality and endurance soon
gave it the appearance of a new religion, but those who were contemporary
with its rise saw it for what it was not a denial, but an adaptation and a
misuse, of the Christian thing. It differed from most (not from all)
heresies in this, that it did not arise within the bounds of the Christian
Church. The chief heresiarch, Mohammed himself, was not, like most
heresiarchs, a man of Catholic birth and doctrine to begin with. He
sprang from pagans. But that which he taught was in the main Catholic
doctrine, oversimplified.

The end product of liberation is liberty. When real freedom fighters win a fight, freedom is the outcome.

ok this pic is a must see:

Not only does it show Solina meeting with a extremely weatlhy "palestinian" businessman (isn't solina a socialist?)

YOu have ot see this guys house, etc. Funny how despite my extensive attention on Israel & the "palestinians" even I have never seen this type of wealth among the "palestinians".

This guys home would make the old French kings jealous!

the MSM is chock full of "poor" "palestinians" with destroyed homes, poverty, etc, etc, etc. I knew I was being lied to by the MSM, but this is has reached a new level of SHOCK for me.

History had shown that people and nations “adapt to reality,” he said. “I don’t want to lose hope.”

The reality Solana is talking about being potentially accepted is only what it is because of Israel's insistance on its right to operate its own defenses. Before they resumed the firing of missiles on Israel were the Palestinians of Gaza not liberated? Do these missiles help liberate someone? That is implied by Solana's words. Nevertheless of course, I hope he is right and that Hamas will abandon its violence and indoctrination. Just a hope of course, I am not in control of Hamas and nor is Javier Solana, so he surely would be better discussing this possibility with Israel only once Hamas has committed to it. Otherwise it rather suggests that Israel's hope or lack of it has anything to do with the villification, non-recognition and intent to destroy Israel by Hamas as expressed in every article of its charter.

And then you have Solana.

Ah, but I repeat myself.

He's the "global village idiot." Or perhaps he is just as dumb as a "village full of global idiots" or even a "globe full of village idiots."

89 Joel  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 9:17:19am

Did you notice the clueless expression of the so called Foreign Minister Livni's face?

90 Joel  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 9:18:13am

Solona - the epitome of the expression "some village is missing it's idiot."

Forget Europe !

92 Outrider  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 10:05:30am

Truly amazing. Hamas own charter calls for the destruction of Israel. Interview after interview, all Hamas members call for the destruction of Israel. Hamas supporters on the street all call for the destruction of Israel. Acts of violence are constantly perpetuated in the name of the destruction of Israel. And this guy says its not so? WOW!

Solana insisted that it was “not impossible” for Hamas to change and “recognize the existence of Israel.”

I suppose it is possible he could be right. At some point in time, leopards will change their spots, pigs will fly and the starship Enterprise will beam us all up and we will spend eternity drinking Saurian brandy.

"I cannot imagine that the religious imperative, the real religious imperative, can make anybody destroy another country..."

Talk about failure of the imagination.

Incidentally, we see this kind of thinking all the time: it would be better if the world were this way (that people do not have a tendency to violence, that rape is not a sexual act, etc.), therefore it is true that the world is this way. It is called the moralistic fallacy.

94 alegrias  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 1:00:02pm

Solana was a street thug who rioted against the US ("Yanquis out of Spain, Spain out of NATO") during the Reagan years.

That's all you need to know--Solana's another street thug like Germany's Joschka Fischer who sympathizes with street thugs and jihadists against the rest of us.

Viva la revolucion you revolting Socialista parasite on your country and Europe.

95 uptight  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 1:20:24pm

Actually Hamas do want to destroy Israel, but someone should tell Javier that Hamas are on record saying that they want to destroy Spain as well.

96 concernedUCIstudent  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 2:16:49pm

what a shmuck

97 The Sanity Inspector  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 2:41:24pm

Give Mr. Solana some slack. If he told the truth about Hamas, what would the ummah back home think? He doesn't want to get his head chopped off any more than anyone else does.

Some future Dante will consign moral midgets like Solana to their own special circle of Hell.

In Spain we use to laugh at the dumbest of the village (aka: the mayor), but socialists fought hard to make us laugh at presidents, european congressmen and whatever they'd like to climb to also. Solana is also known by his knickname, The Tiger of Brussels.

100 EE  Fri, Oct 27, 2006 6:20:41pm

Solana is thoroughly ignorant about Hamas, and has everything wrong. Hamas is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the overall goals of the Brotherhood are the establishment of islamofascist states wherever possible, their joining together into an islamofascist empire that would be the caliphate (led by the Commander of the Faithful, the Caliph), and "mastering the world with Islam".

Al Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, has said that Israel exists and will exist until Islam destroys it, and that statement of Al Banna's is contained in the preamble of the Hamas charter.

As the anti-Israel branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas' main goal is the elimination of Israel. Its collateral goals are the establishment of an islamofascist society among the Palis, preparing the region for joining an islamofascist caliphate (which means eventually joining in undermining the Hashemite kingdom also), and furthering the general goals of the Muslim Brotherhood for "mastering the world with Islam".

Solana is an ignoramus who doesn't know a thing about Hamas.
