I would be more inclined to agree with zombie at #6 with it being a case of a sickness and "Noble Savageitis." Perhaps in some way there is an actual desire to kill Jews and make a profit from Arabs, but primarily I think he is sold on hatred of the West and the pure goodness of the Muslim world.
