France Relatively Calm - 200 Cars Torched Saturday Night

Sun, Oct 29, 2006 at 1:35:16 pm PST

Apart from that horrific Molotov cocktail attack on a bus that sent a woman to the hospital with burns over 60% of her body, the French Interior Ministry says last night was relatively calm.

“Relatively calm,” in this case, means that only 200 cars were burned by disenchanted youths.

Aside from the bus attack in Marseille, the Interior Ministry said that both Friday and Saturday night were “relatively calm.” Youths set fire to about 200 vehicles Saturday, police said. But even on ordinary nights, the number of cars burned often reaches 100.

The essence of Christianity is told us in the Garden of Eden history. The fruit that was forbidden was on the tree of knowledge. The subtext is, All the suffering you have is because you wanted to find out what was going on. You could be in the Garden of Eden if you had just kept your mouth shut and hadn't asked any questions. -- Playboy Interview, April 1993
