Kerry's Press Conference

Tue, Oct 31, 2006 at 11:37:31 am PST

Flipper’s spinning like crazy on Seattle TV right now... video soon...

UPDATE at 10/31/06 11:43:27 am:

Did I just hear a different excuse? Now he says he was talking about “those who didn’t study before the invasion of Iraq?” Oh brother.

UPDATE at 10/31/06 12:03:35 pm:

Kerry thinks he’s doing the right thing by being so confrontational, after his weak response to the Swift Boat controversy. But this press conference was a complete disaster. He could have defused the whole thing by simply saying he was sorry to the troops for any misunderstanding, or some such political palliative. Instead, he went all the way angry right out of the gate, with an unhinged anti-war talking point smokescreen, stopping along the way at every single left-wing fallacy. Say goodnight to your political future, Flipper.

UPDATE at 10/31/06 12:53:02 pm:

Allahpundit beat me to the video encoding, so he gets the bandwidth hit (scroll down to see it): Video: Kerry says GOP afraid to debate “real men”.

Listening to JF'nK right now.

The statement was Bushes' fault. Not his.

Bush is playing politics.

Bush lies.

The troops deserve leadership...

That's all I can take. Oh yeah it's Rove too.

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

-- John F Kerry

What's to spin?

Being political tone-deaf means never having to say you're sorry.

11 EC Marm  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 9:42:29am

"Descpicable Republicans." He's certainly firing up the base; the Republican base that is. What a melt down. I don't think he's helping himself or the DNC, at all.

John Kerry - the gift that keeps on giving.
Rove - you magnificent bastard!

13 Tumulus11  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 9:43:01am

. Kerry is repeating his vitriolic press release almost verbatim:

'Katrina foreign policy ...'

'Stand still and lose policy in Iraq ...'
..etc.'

This may be the political demise of John Kerry.

When did Iowahawk become his speech writer?

15 SlothB77  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 9:43:16am

What a poor excuse for a human being, much less an American, much, much, less a US Senator.

For Shame Democrats, for Shame!

Democrats are the party of shameful, twisted, power hungry men and women.

Thanks for your support! (psst! and pass this message around to friends and family!)

24 GreenSoccer  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 9:44:16am

Pretty good save. He is changing his comment from "if you don't study and get good grades you'll end up in Iraq" to a criticism of the adminsistration that "if you didn't study Middle Eastern politics and history well enough to make a good decision, you'll end up in Iraq."
Big bad "GOP is changing the topic". he wants an apology from Pres Bush for misleading us into the war.
I think he said Al Qaeda is not the problem.

I am confused.

I'm stunned. This is just freaking bizarre, even for John Kerry. As someone who made his entire political career calling American troops rapists and murderers, it's especially freakish.

I forgot that this was the same guy who bagged a 16 point buck in Cape Cod while crawling through the brush.

With Kerry, all things are possible.

41 Ward Cleaver  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 9:48:12am

Oh yeah. Thanks to Col. Bud Day and the Swift Boat Vets for forcing Kerry to respond immediately to these "slanders" instead of just ignoring them. Now, he proves more than ever that he is undefensible and an arrogant, self-serving, narcisstic charlatan that has never cared for anything or anybody that didn't have a few billion dollars and a SUV in Sun Valley.

I think I just figured out who Michael Ingnatieff reminds me of. Like Kerry, he seems to be completely maladroit and utterly devoid of any discernable political smarts. The U.S. was spared the disaster of a Kerry presidency. I have a feeling that we here in Canada may not have the good forture to be spared an Ignatieff government.

Massachusetts residents have a positively French way of sizing up a situation and then deliberately making the wrong choice, just to be contrary. Enshrining arrogant stupidity is Massachusetts' primary function. He'll be a Senator until the day he dies, just like Lifeguard Teddy.

John F'in Kerry is a PARAGON OF MEDIOCRITY who has never done a productive thing in his miserable life and would never cut it in the private sector. He doesn't even show up for most of the votes in the Senate, which, if I understand things correctly, is the core function of a Senator. Lucky for him anti-Americanism sells well with the voters of Massachusetts.

He ran from Vietnam as soon as he could get his cowardly ass out of there.

That such a pathetically empty suit could gain the democrat presidential nomination is a great yardstick of how far that once-respectable party has fallen.

If this man were standing in a room with me, I would easily bite him in the calf and set his shoes on fire. Then I would pluck out every one of those fake eyebrows with a rusty tweezers. Then I would snag his tongue with a piece of barbed wire, and stick it in a vat of isopropyl alcohol. Then I would let loose a legion of ear mites into his ear canals then seal them with cement. Then I would take his whole snakelike body and stick him in the river at Chappaquidick so he could be immortalized with that other victim of Massachusett's senators.

That's about it I guess.

Best thing the Dems could have done is lock Kerry and Edwards away till after Nov. 7th. Instead the Kos kids rule the day, and the party. They were all set to party after the elections, victory in both houses so close they could taste it. It may still happen, at least in the House, but should we lose we will regroup and work toward fixing the problem in ’08. Our lives will pretty much go on. Should the Dems lose, OMG it will be the funniest thing in the world watching the reaction, the wailing, hand ringing, rendering of clothes, hair pulling, and cries for new therapy.

It was the statistical inevitability of overconfident Democrats to say what they actually think.

For voters it is a window into what a Democrat congress will look like - 2 years of "baby killer, age of aquarius" BS from the 60's.

Dwayne is a virulent anti-American and he lives here in America. I've sparred with him before via e-mail, even suggesting that he leave America if he doesn't like living here.

No surprise that he declines my offer.

121 Abu Maven  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 10:08:31am

As I stated in the other thread, Kerry's latest backpedal doesn't even pass the laugh test.

(1) Bush's lack of "education" (Yale-undegrad, Harvard-MBA) surely cannot be the reason we are "stuck in Iraq." Similarly, it would be hard to impugn the education of the other Iraq war planners (Rumsfeld-Princeton), Wolfowitz (Cornell-undergrad, Chicago-graduate), etc.

(2) Kerry -- who voted for the Iraq war -- was educated at the same type of schools (Harvard-undegrad, Boston College-jd). If anything, Kerry's overall academic record is less impressive than most of the Iraq war planners.

(3) How come Kerry's first press release did not mention anything about the alleged "misinterpretation"?

122 Dave the.....  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 10:08:39am

The big government Republicans could lose big this year, (or could have in 2004, 2002, etc), but the Dems are so out of touch, they can't win when we practically hand them the election.

He could have defused the whole thing by simply saying he was sorry to the troops for any misunderstanding, or some such political palliative. Instead, he went all the way angry. Say goodnight to your political future, Flipper.

I respectfully disagree. John Kerry's said far worse about our men and women in uniform and managed to become a senator-for-life in the Kingdom of Massachusetts as well as come within a hair of the presidency.

I think Kerry believes that he can get away with whatever he wants to say because it's happened so often. Dirk Diggler is right; there are no consequences for Kerry. I was talking with a friend a couple of weeks ago about John Effin Kerry's 2008 run, and we couldn't figure out how Hillary "I deserve to be President" Clinton was going to take him out of the running, as Dem politicians are not stopped by sex scandals, drug scandals, criminal proceedings, money in the freezer, vehicular homicide, etc. We figure she'd have to kill him--either a staged suicide a la Vince Foster, or a ride off a bridge in Massachusetts (my favorite).

No matter how many times Kerry says "I served in Vietnam, I came back decorated," it doesn't matter, it was what he did when he returned. He slimed and smeared an entire generation of veterans in the guise of "caring" about his "fellow veterans."

On one side you support the troops, on the other side, you support John Kerry.

The Democrats would never turn on thier own, even if it means they lose big come Nov 7th. Thier instinct is to close ranks and let those rightwing nut jobs have it. One day of Democrats going to Kerry's aide could be what will cost them on election day.

NY Times shills for Kerry:

Part of Mr. Kerry’s outrage may arise from memories of 2004, when a group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth raised allegations, never substantiated, that he had exaggerated his wartime exploits. Some political observers thought Mr. Kerry and his allies were too slow to strike back at his attackers.

This time, Mr. Kerry did not wait. “No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut-and-run policy in Afghanistan and a stand-still-and-lose strategy in Iraq,” he said in his statement. At his news conference, he accused Republicans of creating “straw men” because “they’re afraid to debate real men.”

Kerry was supposed to say, "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."

Funny... BUT NOT WHAT HE ACTUALLY SAID.

Now, he did not make it clear in his press release, or press conference...

three strikes and you are out...

SOMEONE please tell me how Karl Rove got him to do this? Do you think that, like a Scooby Doo episode, Kerry might unzip and inside is Karl Rove? Has anyone ever seen them together in the same room?

John Kerry, Congressional Hearing, April 22, 1971

I would like to talk, representing all those veterans, and say that several months ago in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged and many very highly decorated veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia, not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command.

It is impossible to describe to you exactly what did happen in Detroit, the emotions in the room, the feelings of the men who were reliving their experiences in Vietnam, but they did. They relived the absolute horror of what this country, in a sense, made them do.

They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

We call this investigation the "Winter Soldier Investigation." The term "Winter Soldier" is a play on words of Thomas Paine in 1776 when he spoke of the Sunshine Patriot and summertime soldiers who deserted at Valley Forge because the going was rough.

We who have come here to Washington have come here because we feel we have to be winter soldiers now. We could come back to this country; we could be quiet; we could hold our silence; we could not tell what went on in Vietnam, but we feel because of what threatens this country, the fact that the crimes threaten it, not reds, and not redcoats but the crimes which we are committing that threaten it, that we have to speak out.

Mr. KERRY. My feeling, Senator, is undoubtedly this Congress, and I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I do not believe that this Congress will, in fact, end the war as we would like to, which is immediately and unilaterally and, therefore, if I were to speak I would say we would set a date and the date obviously would be the earliest possible date. But I woUld like to say, in answering that, that I do not believe it is necessary to stall any longer. I have been to Paris. I have talked with both delegations at the peace talks, that is to say the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government and of all eight of Madam Binh's points it has been stated time and time again, and was stated by Senator Vance Hartke when he returned from Paris, and it has been stated by many other officials of this Government, if the United States were to set a date for withdrawal the prisoners of war would be returned.

More from John Kerry's Winter Soldier Testimony in 1971..

And this is actually quite interesting..

Finally, in connection with Lieutenant Calley, which is a very emotional issue in this country, I was struck by your passing reference to that incident.

Wouldn't you agree with me though that what he did in herding old men and women and children into a trench and then shooting them was a little bit beyond the perimeter of even what has been going on in this war and that that action should be discouraged. There are other actions not that extreme that have gone on and have been permitted. If we had not taken action or cognizance of it, it would have been even worse. It would have indicated we encouraged this kind of action.

Mr. KERRY. My feeling, Senator, on Lieutenant Calley is what he did quite obviously was a horrible, horrible, horrible thing and I have no bone to pick with'the fact that he was prosecuted. But I think that in this question you have to separate guilt from responsibility, and I think clearly the responsibility for what has happened there lies elsewhere.

I think it lies with the men who designed free fire zones. I think it lies with the men who encouraged body counts. I think it lies in large part with this country, which allows a young child before he reaches the age of 14 to see 12,500 deaths on television, which glorifies the John Wayne syndrome, which puts out fighting man comic books on the stands, which allows us in training to do calisthenics to four counts, on the fourth count of which we stand up and shout "kill" in unison, which has posters in barracks in this country with a crucified Vietnamese, blood on him, and underneath it says "kill the gook," and I think that clearly the responsibility for all of this is what has produced this horrible abberation.

Check out this MSNBC cover blow job:

Here are some excerpts from the fair and balanced MSNBC:

“Senator Kerry not only owes an apology to those who are serving, but also to the families of those who’ve given their lives in this,” White House press secretary Tony Snow said. “This is an absolute insult.”

Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran and Bush’s rival in 2004, fired back, saying the president and his administration are the ones who owe U.S. troops an apology because they “misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it.”

It continues...

Unsubstantiated allegations about Kerry’s Vietnam War heroism from a group called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth figured prominently in the 2004 Kerry-Bush race. Even Kerry has blamed his slow and uncertain response to the group’s claims for helping doom his White House chances.

Oh and they don't even mention McCain, the media's hero, wanted an apology until the last paragraph of the article.

OT, a neurologist comments on the Rush Limbaugh/MJ Fox dispute:

There is no doubt that the U.S. radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh's direct style and his own past medication issues make him an inviting target. And although he was, in all probability, technically inaccurate in accusing Michael J. Fox of "acting" in his recent political TV ad supporting a Democratic senatorial candidate, Mr. Limbaugh may have been very close to the mark.

As a neurologist with a large number of Parkinson's disease patients, my impression of the video is that Mr. Fox displayed the poorly controlled "choreo-athetotic" movements seen when advanced Parkinson's patients take their medication to turn "on" and emerge from their natural state of rigidity and rest tremor. At some point after taking a pill, a patient's voluntary movements are freed up, without much excess involuntary movement.

The issue, then, is one of timing. Indeed, a few days after his political ad came out, Mr. Fox appeared at a Democratic event in Chicago with his movements under control, a situation he called "ironic." Strangely, however, he seemed unable to appear controlled for a pre-taped TV ad a few days earlier, when the appropriate timing should have been easier, given the possibility of multiple "takes." Lest this all sound too cynical, consider that Mr. Fox admitted in his 2002 autobiography to going off his medication to appear more disabled before a 1999 Senate subcommittee appearance.

Democratic party manipulation appears to go much further. In offering Mr. Fox as a spokesman, they have clearly hoped he would cut a sympathetic figure immune from criticism, and the faux outrage at Mr. Limbaugh's comments seems to confirm this. While Mr. Fox deserves sympathy for this medical plight, he must assume full responsibility for his words and actions when he chooses to enter the political arena. By politicizing a medical issue, he is, in effect, saying that anyone who cares about new treatment hope for Parkinson's disease patients must vote for the the Democratic candidate in Missouri -- not coincidentally, a pivotal state in the upcoming election to control the U.S. Senate.

This is not only unfair, but absurd. Everyone, including Republicans, supports the many new treatments emerging for Parkinson's patients that promise far more immediate application than do stem cells. Republicans also support stem cell research when it comes from ethically sound sources, such as adult tissues and umbilical cord blood. Ironically, these forms of stem cells have had greater success to date than the embryonic-source stem cells lionized in the Michael J. Fox TV ad.

Kerry: Still A Douchebag

Just watched the asshole's press conference. What an arrogant prick! First he makes a stupid statement last night in Los Angeles, about how if you don't study hard and be smart, you'll end up stuck in Iraq. Many have interpreted that to be an insult to the intelligence and education of our troops, although Kerry insists that he was insulting President Bush, not the troops. Perhaps that was what he intended, but it was clumsily done, as was Lurch's trademark in 2004.

In any case, he came off looking like an asshole in his press conference. I still despise him and everything he stands for and am glad I voted against him in 2004. I hope that this boomerangs against both Kerry and the Democrats next Tuesday. Go ahead and offend veterans, you stupid dick! See how it pays off for you.

Hint: I suspect that on November 8th, Kerry is going to be as popular as a California arsonist during the Santa Ana season.

There was a rule that if one received three Purple Hearts one could request transfer to Inactive Duty.

Kerry was the one who brought up this rule to his superior officer, minutes, hours, after he received his "third" purple heart, I'm not sure which owee it was. It might have been when he banged his arm on his boat or got the piece of "shrapnel" in his leg. He never had to have surgery on any of his injuries, no one knows what exactly is in his leg.
His first PH was a metal sliver that was removed with tweezers and dressed with a bandaid.

The Bronze, the Silver Star were awarded after Lt Kerry wrote the After Action reports which led to his receiving the medals.

John Kerry's service in Vietnam lasted 4 months and 12 days, beginning in November 1968 when he reported to Cam Ranh Bay for a month of training. His abbreviated combat tour ended shortly after he requested a transfer out of Vietnam on March 17, 1969, citing Navy instruction 1300.39 permitting personnel with three Purple Hearts to request reassignment

Boy would I LOVE to see the citations for THOSE! Never a POW, still walking, no "heroic event" - we would have heard about that... he must have gotten them for paper cuts or stubbing his toes.

Battle of Wills On Display as Increased UNIFIL Presence in Southern Lebanon Proves Ineffective
By Steve Schippert
As the senior UN envoy to Lebanon, Terje Roed-Larsen, informs the Security Council that members the Lebanese government have recently “stated publicly and also in conversations with us that there has been arms coming across the border into Lebanon,” the United States is voicing familiar concern that Syria and Iran are trying to destabilize Lebanon. US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton said after a closed-door Security Council briefing that Lebanese members of government were providing some information, “But the government was afraid to be specific about these arms coming across the Syrian-Lebanese border because of fear of retaliation.”

Well if even that terrorist enabling creep Roed-Larsen admits the Syrians are smuggling weapons to Hezbollah, it must be pretty flagrant.

When Kerry was in 'Nam, there was some kind of reg that allowed a man with 3 Purple Hearts to rotate stateside. Kerry used that to his advantage, apparently submitting his own Purple Heart paperwork for what were literally scratches.

From what I understand, there is a belief that Kerry volunteered for the Swift Boats, imagining it as a JFK PT-109 type ticket punch, and about the time he volunteered, the Swift Boats weren't particularly dangerous, mostly coastal patrols in the South China Sea. But the misison changed right as he got there, and the Swift Boats were sent up river to interdict VC weapons smuggling, and thus the duty became more dangerous, with possible sniper attacks or ambush around any river bend. Hence he quickly gamed the system to get his butt out of danger.

The real irony is that Kerry still has a load of petrified rice pellets stuck in his ass. One time when he ventured off his boat they found a rice hooch, either him or someone else through a grenade in it. Kerry didn't run fast enough and ended up getting fragged by the rice and the grenade. He never put in for a purple heart, I wonder why?

Most of the time when someone is awarded a purple heart their injuries are far more serious than slivers of metal or a small piece of shrapnel in their leg.

Hardly anyone used the three PH exemption because their wounds were real wounds. They had to be carried out or flown out and ended up in hospital wards for months on end.

John Kerry - just what can you say?
Singlehandedly made Karl Rove's day
He insulted the troops
Covered up with pure poop
Oh, he's smart - in a dumb-assy way

But it goes so much further than that
More than just a good pre-voting spat
It's his core that he shows
When he looks down his nose
And blames Bush for all this and all that

He can't see that his words were not right
He just preens to look tough in a fight
A press conference to look showy
(And call Limbaugh doughy)
Dissembling with all of his might

And he wants us to think Bush is dumb
(Even unworthy of opposable thumbs)
But his own grades were worse
What a terrible curse
To be so smart and to lose when you run

You see it's not about what you say
When you're superior in so many ways
The rabble must see
That to him it's just "Me"
And designs on his first thousand days

My understanding is our POWs--stuck in filthy cells in Hanoi--were forced by their Viet Cong captors to listen to Hanoi John's testimony calling them war criminals who were as bad as Genghis Khan.

Our POWs were forced [tortured] to say they were war criminals (in John McCain's case something like "I am a black war criminal")

The North Vietnamese tortured our POWs even more over this testimony, if I'm not mistaken. Fact check me someone please.

Fifty-one cases reported in Massachusetts in September are the same strain as that in the national outbreak, said Donna Rheaume, a spokeswoman for the Department of Public Health. It was not immediately clear whether those cases were in addition to the 172 reported nationwide

David Asman on Fox News was just interviewing Brigitte Gabriel, author of "Because They Hate," and she said the following regarding what the Islamic and Arabic speaking websites have been saying, "The democrats are doing our work for us."

I know, I know, this comes as no surprise to LGF posters. The question is, will the Republicans research this to validate it, and will they have the cajones to incorporate this into their political ads.

I want to see democrats excoriating and denoucing Kerry and his ilk. The leftist/socialist third will celebrate them, but the centrist and more conservative democrats had better start picking sides and going on record with more than their position "vote for me because I'm not a Republican."

I don't believe that all Democrats are traitors, but those that go along with this, that refuse to see how they are giving aid and comfort, and even carrying the water for the Islamofacists, don't speak out against their own party, then they too are guilty in their silence.

Can one have ingrown nose hair?

I'm no medical expert, but Kerry looks like one big walking, talking ingrown nose hair.

Well Kerry did say he was going to be tough if attacked, though he was speaking of the Swifties. He said that if they would attack him again he would kick their asses from one side of the country to the other, IIRC that is.

He may have taken a page out of his 'new' playbook and has come out swinging.

First time I've ever contacted a politician:

October 31, 2006

Senator John Kerry
304 Russell Building
Third Floor
Washington, D.C. 20510

Fax: (202) 224-8525

Dear Senator Kerry:

I was shocked and appalled by your statement last night about our troops, and even more shocked and appalled by your press release this afternoon.

As a U.S. Senator, surely you are aware that members of Congress represent not only their own constituents, but also all Americans. I am an American whose nephew served in Iraq, and I assure you he is not stupid or uneducated, even without the benefit of a degree from Yale. Your comments dishonor those who served and are serving as we speak, those who returned injured, and those who have given their lives.

Your press conference today was simply pathetic. Thank you for helping me decide to vote a straight Republican ticket on November 8.

Shame on you, Senator Kerry. A real man apologizes when he makes a stupid comment. A little boy blames it all on someone else.

You, sir, are in serious need of a time-out.

Sincerely, blah blah

Really? SwiftBoat has been trying to get that out of him for years, he always has some excuse not to release it. Where is it?

If I remember correctly, Kerry had released Form 180 but only to 2 reporters from the Boston Globe. The reporters said there were no surprises and the story was ensconsed in a tomb never to be brought up again by the MSM's.

359 Ed Mahmoud abu al Qahool Martyr Brigades  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 11:26:06am

I have a very clear memory of an incident which occurred while I was the Medical Officer at Naval Support Facility, Cam Ranh Bay.
John Kerry was a (jg), the OinC or skipper of a Swift boat, newly arrived in Vietnam. On the night of December 2, he was on patrol north of Cam Ranh, up near Nha Trang area. The next day he came to sick bay, the medical facility, for treatment of a wound that had occurred that night.

The story he told was different from what his crewmen had to say about that night. According to Kerry, they had been engaged in a fire fight, receiving small arms fire from on shore. He said that his injury resulted from this enemy action.

Some of his crew confided that they did not receive any fire from shore, but that Kerry had fired a mortar round at close range to some rocks on shore. The crewman thought that the injury was caused by a fragment ricocheting from that mortar round when it struck the rocks.

That seemed to fit the injury which I treated.

What I saw was a small piece of metal sticking very superficially in the skin of Kerry's arm. The metal fragment measured about 1 cm. in length and was about 2 or 3 mm in diameter. It certainly did not look like a round from a rifle.

I simply removed the piece of metal by lifting it out of the skin with forceps. I doubt that it penetrated more than 3 or 4 mm. It did not require probing to find it, did not require any anesthesia to remove it, and did not require any sutures to close the wound.

The wound was covered with a bandaid.

Not [sic] other injuries were reported and I do not recall that there was any reported damage to the boat.

So why did Kerry go "ballistic"?

Because his priority wasn't to "set the record straight". His priority was the same in his press release as it was in his statement to the students; score as many points as you can, period, without regard to the truth.

Remember Howlin' Howie Dean? That was Rove's work. Remember McGovern? That was the first field test of the ray on an entire nation. Another good quote from Taranto today:

"Arab governments are looking for change in U.S. policy in the Middle East after the midterm elections," the Associated Press reports:

" One thing they hope for is that a politically weakened President Bush would talk with Iran and Syria. They also hope he would show greater interest in the Palestinians and find a way out of the crisis in Iraq."

So if you want a politically weakened president cutting deals with terror-sponsoring dictatorships, vote Democratic on Nov. 7.

Turn on your TV kids. He did not apologize, nor should he. If you can find a transcript of the full speech it is obvious he was speaking about the Fugup in Cheif.

Please supply evidence of either your intellectual superiority, John Kerry's intelluctual superiority, or President Bush's intellectual inferiority. College transcripts, SAT scores, Mensa cards are all acceptable. If you choose transcripts, however, please supply transcripts of all parties. Same with SAT scores. As for the Mensa cards, please verify that they are not fake prior to posting.

If you can't do any of the above, repost your remarks with the disclaimer:

"In my ill-informed, biased opinion ..."

Otherwise, someone might actually believe you are stating facts.

If you can't do either of the above, kindly remove yourself from this website and never return.

Flow Bee Haircut is an admirer of John Kerry, apparently. Bet he still has a "Kerry- Edwards" bumper sticker on the back of his Chevette. (Right next to the "War is Not the Answer" decal, I'm sure.)

I always have to get a look at the driver of a car that sports a Kerry bumpersticker. While I can sort of understand how someone might hold their nose to vote for Kerry out of an advanced case of Bush Derangement Syndrome, what about someone who is actually ENTHUSIASTIC about the guy? What kind of a sad life do you have to have to admire a useless bag of crap like John Kerry?

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq
Here is the nuanced interpetation:

Go to school>Make an effort to be smart>If you fail at either, you will end up in the military where all the stupid, unmotivated people end up. Or, to put it more bluntly: Only lazy morons join the military.

1. Let's assume for one second, you slimy low life, that he was insinuating the President was uneducated and not referring to our troops...is it absolutely necessary to basically call our President a dumb ass in front of a bunch of high schoolers? I bet he could kick their ass in dodgeball afterwards too. Do you think any of those kids disagreed? Were they offered a forum to respond? Of course not, they undoubetedly returned to their classrooms only to be inundated with more leftist bullshit from their liberal teachers.

2. How does he continue to call himself a war hero when he threw his medals over the White House fence and called his fellow soldiers war criminals? Doesn't it explain a lot that there is video of him next to John Lennon on Youtube? I'm tired of him making himself to look like a patriot when he continues to shit on the graves in Alrington. Well, he "released" his records to exactly 2 people. Both reporters for papers that support him 100%. I believe they were from the Boston Globe and the SF Chronicle. And they, in turn, refuse to talk about what's there or what's missing.

After being asked about this issue year after year, that's his best response.

From John Kerry's Website:

Military Families Bill of Rights

FROM THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD, APRIL 13, 2005

This debate on emergency funding for our military wouldn't be complete if we did not begin to address the crises military families face at home as well as abroad.

I am proud that the Senate has passed my two amendments -- one to allow families to stay in military housing for a full year after the death of a spouse, the other to ensure all military families receive $500,000 in total death benefits when a loved one dies in service to America - but I am also deeply moved by the stories I've heard from across our country in the last 24 hours about the challenges to military families every day.

[Link: www.johnkerry.com...]

Dear Mr. Kerry,

Are you proud of what you did to all the veterans, dead and alive, of the Vietnam War that day, April 22, 1971, when you sat before Congress and called our military men, baby rapers, murderers, barbarians. The charade of the Detroit "hearings?" The lies you knowingly told to set yourself up to run for office?

We will never forget.

If you don't have what it takes, if you don't have the skills, smarts, bravery, dedication, and sacrifice to serve your country as a U.S. soldier, then you had better study hard and get good grades so you can become a businessman or a professional. Otherwise you will wind up a flunky working for the US Govt, leeching off the US taxpayer...never doing an honest days work, never accomplishing anything, never contributing to your society; much like John F-ing Kerry.

What an ass he is.

I have been writing angry letters to Mr. Heinz-Kerry and copying everyone about this pathetic anti-military Leftist SOB all morning.

I can't remember ever being this angry at the ass. I just demanded his resignation. To undermine the troops during wartime is unconscionable, and should be considered treason. What a disgrace he is. Ugly piece of sh*t too.

Just as i thought, I give you facts you question the source. You need to pull your collective heads out of Karl Roves ass.

Well, let's just say you got yourself a Dan Rather problem. In the past, supposedly "unimpeachable" sources have been Democratic party hacks.

You implied that all troops gave these grades to the Senate. Highly doubtful, but if they did vote, I am sure that grades favorable to Republicans were, uh, redone to reflect "reality".

Now, how about those transcripts, SAT scores to prove your original point. Or did you not have enough time to make them up yet?

Not to be redundant, but I should have posted this here. I absolutely despise Kerry and all he stands for. His arrogance is only surpassed by his delusion. He and his fellow democrats are one reason I never miss the privilege of voting. I also request an early ballot. No Venezuelan sponsored voting machines for me. Here's the post:

McCain is exactly right of course. Kerry's remark about debating real men is laughable. He wouldn't know a real man if he saw one--and given the crowd he hangs with, it's very unlikely he will.

We have family members who signed up for the army, one at age 17, right after 9/11. He decided to defer college to serve his country in a time of war. He was nearly killed twice in his first tour and is currently in his second tour in Iraq. His brother just returned a few months ago.

My husband's family lost a son last year in a roadside bomb in Iraq. He had been married less than a year and had finished his master's degree the year before.

What the Kerry's and Sheehan's of this world simply don't understand is that there are people who genuinely care about the future of our country and the world and are doing something about it. To question their integrity, bravery and patriotism is beyond contempt.

I think Jesus said it best in the gospel of John 15 "13) Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his another."

American Legion calls on Kerry to Apologize

"While The American Legion shares the senator's appreciation for education, the troops in Iraq represent the most sophisticated, technologically superior military that the world has ever seen," Morin said. "I think there is a thing or two that they could teach most college professors and campus elitists about the way the world works.

"And while we are on the topic of education, why doesn't the senator and his comrades in Congress improve the GI Bill so all of today's military members - reserves and guard included - can achieve the educational aspirations that the senator so highly values?" Morin said. "The senator's false and outrageous attack was over-the-top and he should apologize now."

Oh the lefty blogs are circling the wagons and making up lies. Heres a good example from the "Unnofficial John Kerry Blog", [Link: www.kerryblog.blogspot.com...]

...Let's make it clear, Kerry has spoken about the importance of a good education time and time again. He's said in the past, "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq." His point is ALWAYS to wake kids up to how important a good education is -- ...

So, then John Kerry has on multiple occasions uttered exactly what his spokesman today claimed he meant to say. Well then lefty, hows about a linky? Cause I'm pretty sure you don't have one. Cause you're making it all up. Fool.

For starters idiot - learn to spell. And then let me say this: my father is a disabled WWII vet. I have been aware of exactly who votes for what for vets for close to 50 years. It was a Republican Congress under a Republican President that gave Veterans the first decent raise that they have had in several decades. He receives his medical care at the largest VA hospital in the country. His care is superb, far better than he would receive virtually anywhere else.

Further, I have worked in US government hospitals. You could wish for half the level of care at nearly any hospital in the US.

But he is riding the short bus in Iraq at the moment.

Mama Winger, I think I speak for most of us when I say that John F'n Kerry is not fit to lick Little Winger's boots.

Kerry has managed, in one revealing moment, to do what George Bush has been unable to do: He motivated the Republican base. He also motivated patriotic independents, and those democrats who may finally grasp how elitist, anti-American and treacherous their party has become.

He's better than Howard Dean!

That's just great stuff for the GOP. If he goes to PA, Santorum can cut an ad of Casey and Kerry together with Kerry's comments bookending the video. If Casey distances himself, the Kerry story has new oxygen. If Casey disinvites Kerry, more oxygen. If Kerry stays away, even more oxygen.

It is a little more than just the outrageous price tag, armytramp. For starters, many of our military officers are educated at one of the three service academies or a few private colleges like Norwich University. The service academies are harder to get into than any of the Ivy league schools - and require every bit as good an SAT score.

Military people often major in things that Harvard does not offer at all. And then too, even though it is Harvard, there are schools that are deservedly much better known than Harvard.

Quite some few of our military come out of schools like MIT, Cal Tech... far and away better than Harvard in their respective fields.

And then the millitary runs a couple of schools that civilians would sometimes kill to get into - like the language institute in California.

BTW, if you happen to live in the Boston area, you too can have a Harvard degree from their evening division. Looks just like any other Harvard sheepskin and does not specify you went to night school. Great price - $350 and up per 4 credit class, open enrollment, most classes meet once per week.

So see - Harvard isn't all that much.

Yale - Harvard. The difference is about a few miles.

I'm not terribly partisan, but I have been very frightened and angry, thinking the Democrats would cut and run, repeating the disaster of the '70's. So far as I can tell, and I admit to being no expert, the best solution is to win the damn war, and help establish as stable a state as we can in both Iraq and Afghanistan. On this, I think Bush is right. I don't always feel especially hopeful about it, or optimistic, but it seems the best solution.

The past three months, it has seemed to me that this scenario, difficult and ambiguous as it might be, has been fading, leaving only disaster and a larger, bloodier war for the future.

Now, because John Kerry holds only contempt for the troops and the American people, the future may not be so very grim after all.

So I'm very, very happy, even if I should really be angrier.

668 Stuck-in-CA  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 4:58:48pm

Can you imagine this new way-left Democrat party in charge of our military and our national security? I break into a sweat when I think about it.

Can John Kerry BE so stupid to say something like this out loud right before an election (we know he's stupid enough to say it all the rest of the time). Or is this God's way of making sure that they don't win control of Congress.

There is such a thing as provicence. We saw it in the 2000 2004 elections. Maybe we'll see it again.

670 mich-again  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 5:04:42pm

I suppose Kerry could have said something like..

"Or you'll end up flipping burgers for minimum wage."

But that would have alienated a large bloc of the Democrat voting base. So he took a cheap shot at those who enlist in the military instead. It was a moment of truth of Kerry. He said exactly what he meant to say. Just like he did with every other stupid LLL talking point he touched on in that speech.

Howard Dean's "Yeargh!" killed his political career. Kerry's "Or you'll get stuck in Iraq." quip will do the same. So its time to take off our hats and hold a moment of silence for Kerry's political aspirations.

This will haunt the ketchup prince forever.

I break into a sweat, too.

I am mentally betting that Kerry announces his checking into a rehab facility before the weekend.

672 Lance  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 5:06:12pm

I think what gets me the most is that Kerry's "slip of the tongue" is so acceptable in the MSM, where George Allen was branded a racist the second the word "macaca" (which Allen's not smart enough to know the definition of) came out of his mouth. Freudian slips, Johnny K. We even understand what you meant, that your "study hard or you'll end up in Iraq" really meant "stay in school, or bad stuff will happen to you."

I'll probably be demonized for even suggesting this, but I don't think Kerry wishes ill on anyone in the military. He's a human being after all...a congac-sipping, limousine liberal blueblood human being, but a human nonetheless. JUST OFFER A DAMN APOLOGY ALREADY, AND WE'LL BE OVER THIS. But by now, after a repudiation so fierce it would make Barbara Boxer blush, and a press conference where he practically nailed himself to the cross, any apology would come across as politically motivated and hollow, no matter what the meaning behind it. Keep digging John.

Hey, I've never once voted for Kerry or Uncle Teddy and I'm a Mass voter. The saddest part of Mass politics is that it's about to get worse than ever. Next week clintonista Deval Patrick has a good chance of becoming our next governor. The only bright spot I can see in the future is that maybe we can finally be done with this moron John Kerry once and for all. Even if that opportunity is several years away I have some hope to cling to.

I emailed (no fax and too scared of messing up a telephone call) Boxer and Feinstein this afternoon, saying in part:

I am deeply offended by Senator Kerry's ignorance in making such a remark, and the level of insult this directs at our men and women in uniform. I never expected much from Senator Kerry, but this remark is so contemptuous, and contemptible that it deserve a response from members of Senator Kerry's party, and I hope both you and Senator Boxer respond to this remark publicly, and with condemnation.

Senator Kerry's statement, and the condescending and elitist attitude exhibited by him and other prominent Democrats toward our military is the overwhelming reason I have not voted for any Democrat in years. This statement only reinforces why I have been correct in not trusting your party to keep me, my family or my country safe, or to represent the highest ideals of America that can be found in our men and women in uniform. That Senator Kerry could make such a statement is a disgrace.

I will be curious about what the Sacramento Bee will carry about this tomorrow--nothing most likely.

Uh, sorry, can't help you. I look at a magazine or something when Girly Girl is on..as I would puke if I had to look at him. I heard his pathetic excuses for Hanoi John though. How can Hannity even sit at the same desk as that POS? I wish I could mute him, as his voice is like chalk on a blackboard..only Susan Estrogen sounds worse!

If this has not been posted? It is quite a shock to see the MSM, ABC especially, question what Hanoi John's tantrum will do to the election.

There is a vote and a video on the article..the video should be saved as ammunition if, G-d forbod ,Hanoi John decides to run in 2008, and it looks like he very well may.

Alan Colmes was trying very hard to "put Kerry's comments in context" to statments about Bush earlier in his speech. So far, I've not seen the actual speech and whether he even was speaking about Bush before the infamous and very stupid statement. Anyone know where I can find the speech? Looking at Kerry's gaffe as an historical event, one would have to go all the way back to 1884 to find a parallel example of an utterance by a non-candidate influencing a major election:

"We are Republicans, and don't propose to leave our party and identify ourselves with the party whose antecedents have been Rum, Romanism, and Rebellion."

Reverend Samuel D. Burchard, speaking in support of James G. Blaine, October 29, 1884

That unfortunate remark infuriated the Irish and Catholic voters in New York. As a result, Blaine lost New York's 36 electoral votes by 1,149 votes, which cost him the presidency to Grover Cleveland.

Kerry is the Democrat Party's Rev. Burchard.

706 Beach Lover  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 6:27:37pm

OK...here is an excerpt from an article written about Kerry's appearance yesterday. Guess they thought he was talking about the troops, too!

Nice try, Kerry!

He took the stage to roaring applause and left it only to be mobbed by students and reporters.

Kerry charmed the crowd with tales of surfing at Mission Beach and got laughs for a series of one-liners, including telling the crowd he had just returned from Texas, “Where the president used to live - now he lives in a state of denial.”

Kerry then told the students that if they were able to navigate the education system, they could get comfortable jobs - “If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq,” he said to a mixture of laughter and gasps.

Talk about speaking the stark truth to students who want more out of life. The education system in California is a mess, especially in L.A. County. Each day I pick my daughter up at school I see the recruiters leaving, smiling because they have snagged another kid who’s trapped by the system and sees no future other than enlisting. It shouldn’t be like this. A 50% drop out rate is unacceptable. What is the bottom line for these kids, a job at McDonald’s or Iraq. Kudos to Kerry for delivering a wake up call to the young voters at the rally

Good heavens, the writer is an idiot. The indictment "50% drop-out rate" applies to the way the Los Angeles school system fails, utterly, to educate, or challenge its students!

Yes, indeed, for the top percentile, the military is a very good way to go!

For the drop-outs? Even McDonald's wants a certain level of literacy and (not in perjorative sense at all) trainability. Which means knowing how to learn, which the school system has not imparted.

So... Kerry thinks that because he wore the uniform of our country, he is more qualified than those who haven't, to say that those who do wear the uniform of our country are too stupid to navigate through the educational system. So which is it Kerry? Who is the wiser? One who has the credibility to discuss the subject because he has worn the uniform of our country? Or someone who doesn't wear the uniform because they are smart enough to navigate the educational system?

That Asswipe is a walking contradiction. Basically, he makes two constradicting points. 1)those that wear the uniform can't navigate the educational system. 2)Those who haven't worn the uniform aren't qualified to oppose him.

Apparantly, the only person who has any smarts according to John Kerry is one who has worn the uniform and then has condemned the military ever since.

Bush Attacks Kerry for Remarks on Iraq Troops

717 shibumi  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 7:27:00pm

I work with absolutely insane liberals- the ones who think all of the problems in the universe would be solved by Communism. And Bill Clinton.

What was their reaction to Kerry's speech? Well, obviously Kerry was talking about Bush and Bush was too stupid to understand that he was being insulted- and, as Kerry backpeddled and tried to squirm out of his initial comment, one of them chimed in a perky voice devoid of any intelligence, 'that's the man that should have been our President.'

Unbelievable.

It's like certain parts of their brains don't function.

718 AirForceWife  Tue, Oct 31, 2006 7:28:44pm

I would like to see a transcript as well as it would have to be obvious whether he was talking about the President or not. It doesn't make any sense that he would have been. President Bush did navigate through the educational system and he is not in Iraq. His decisions led to others being in Iraq so it wouldn't make any sense for him to have said that about President Bush. He should be so ashamed but you can't shame the shameless.

It also doesn't make sense because of who his audience was. Education was obviously his overall theme so if he was using the opportunity to make cheap shots at Bush's intelligence or level of education, you would think he would have been more specific. The man so clearly has outright disdain for the military. Yet never misses an opportunity to use the fact that he served in it as a badge of credibility to say that those who haven't aren't credible enough to have an opinion about whether or not our country should be at war.

Hi, there..we seem to be missing each other on the threads...not that hard here!

Thanks for that article. I missed it, as I can only take al-NYT in small doses. I am amazed that they actually posted the complete transcripts.

President Bush was masterful in his coments on TV, and unlike the petulant tantrum that Hanoi John had, live and saved to various videos, that would get my 2 granddaughters, age 4 and 6, into trouble..the new grandson, at 9 weeks of age, acts more adult so help me...President Bush showed righteous indignation, and was a mensch. No playing to the audience and the MSM..it was one of his best days. He is so underestimated by the press, and the Dhummis. He speaks from the heart when something like this happens, and it shows.

Will this turn the tide in the Republicans' favor for next Tuesday? I certainly hope so, but I feel that the Republicans will win, and this will only help. Look at Hanoi John's earlier speeches that were demoralzing, demeaning and patronizing, if not cruel. 'A botched joke'? Ha!

Kerry is now trying to swindle and insult the intelligence of people of ordinary common sense into accepting the explanation that this politically moronic comment was directed at George Bush, that Bush is the underachiever who is stuck with Iraq . . . George Bush who holds degrees from both Harvard and Yale, whose IQ exceeds Kerry's own, according to both their military aptitude test records, and who rose to the highest office in America and probably the world . . . an office Kerry himself could not achieve. Oh yes, it is common knowledge around here that Kerry tried very hard to emulate Kennedy. Listen to his "winter Soldier" speech to Congress in 1971. He was even trying to speak like Kennedy. Check his Signature as well, it looks like Kennedy's, too. He truly, honestly feels that becoming President is his life's "destiny".
