JihadTV Comes to the United States

If my cable TV company allows Al Jazeera to spread its propaganda over their network, I hereby announce that I will cancel my account and urge everyone I know to do the same.
And I know a lot of people. Near-Silent Start in U.S. for Al-Jazeera. (Hat tip: zombie.)
NEW YORK (AP) — Al-Jazeera’s English-language network is set to begin operation on Wednesday without any distribution by a major cable or satellite system in the United States.
The all-news network, based in Doha, Qatar, said it would be available to computer users via a broadband Internet connection. But despite months of trying and delays in its launch date, it named only four companies available in the United States that would offer it.
The network also has appeared to have changed its name. Formerly Al-Jazeera International, it was referred to as Al-Jazeera English throughout a news release issued on Tuesday. Company representatives did not immediately return calls for comment.
Talks broke down between Al-Jazeera and one major cable company, Comcast, Variety reported on Monday.
And please note: they will be making every effort to appear as a completely innocuous alternative media network, if/when they do start broadcasting in the US. Their content will be completely unobjectionable. Only those with functioning short term memories will know what’s really going on.
UPDATE at 11/14/06 6:34:41 pm:
A call to LGF readers: please post the contact information for your local cable company here in our comments. I urge all of you to politely—but firmly—let your cable companies know your feelings about Al Jazeera, before it’s a done deal. I have.
UPDATE at 11/14/06 6:40:28 pm:
The LA Times, of course, is shilling for all they’re worth: Al Jazeera, wide angle.
UPDATE at 11/14/06 7:00:10 pm:
But don’t take my word for it. Here’s a show that aired on the Arabic version of Al Jazeera October 31, 2006, an interview with an “Iraqi researcher” who lives in Europe: The Nobel Prize Is Racist and Stems from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Notice that the interviewer is even more zealous than his nutjob subject.
