Arab States Give $35 Million to Terrorists

Thu, Dec 14, 2006 at 8:30:57 am PST

Israel briefly closed the border between Rafah and Egypt today, to stop Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh from entering the territories with $35 million in cash from terror-supporting Arab states—many of whom are putatively US “allies:” Israel: Haniyeh can enter Gaza, but without millions in cash. (Hat tip: LGF readers.)

Israel agreed Thursday evening to allow Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh to cross from Egypt into the Gaza Strip, but without the $35 million in cash he had brought from a tour of Muslim states.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz had earlier instructed the Israel Defense Forces to stop Palestinians entering Gaza via the Rafah border crossing, in order to prevent Haniyeh from crossing with the money.

Israel Radio reported that the money would be left in Egypt, and on Friday transferred to the bank account of the Arab League.

Israeli security sources said that the decision to close the border was made to stop the cash transfer, not to prevent Haniyeh’s return.

The head of Egypt’s intelligence service, Omar Suleiman, had contacted Israeli officials in order to find a solution that would allow Haniyeh to return to the Strip.

Palestinian official Hani Jabour, a coordinator at the Rafah crossing, said Israeli authorities closed the border after Haniyeh told Egyptian authorities he was carrying the money.

But the Palestinians really want that money: Two explosions rock Gaza-Egypt border.

Two loud explosions rocked the Gaza-Egypt border after nightfall Thursday, and security officials said Palestinian gunmen had blown a hole in the border fence.

There were no immediate details on who carried out the explosion. But it came shortly after Hamas operatives tried to seize control of the Rafah border crossing after it was ordered closed by Defense Minister Amir Peretz.

Be warned: similar incidents have occurred a number of times previously. In each case, the Hamas-smuggled money was confiscated initially and then quietly returned to Hamas when the news died down.

Confiscate the money and build more fences with it. Or distribute it to the families of those killed by these monsters.

Maybe Israel should use it as reparations for the 40+ years of murder of it's civilians.

Money, get away.
Get a good job with good pay and youre okay.
Money, its a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think Ill buy me a football team.

Money, get back.
Im all right jack keep your hands off of my stack.
Money, its a hit.
Dont give me that do goody good bullshit.

Seems that the Palestinians haven't figured out that first stanza, and instead want only the second - especially the hit, fighting, and PC pablum diplospeak that tries to circumvent restrictions on the Palestinians getting aid because it goes to the terrorists.

To understand the context behind this story, you need to go back to February 16.

Olmert Runs for Prime Minister of Chelm

Chelm was the fabled village of loveable fools in Jewish literature. The "wise men" created dunderheaded plans like the following with seemingly clever logic.

-A man who almost drowned vowed never to touch water again until he learned how to swim.

-A meeting was held to discuss the problem that the view of the pristine snowfall was ruined by the man whose job it was to walk through the shtetl waking everyone up. The decision was reached to have him carried around on a table by four men so he could avoid leaving footprints.

The centerpiece of Kadima's response to the landslide Hamas victory was financial. Israel would lobby governments to cut off funding to the PA. Yes, Israel turned over $50 million, but vowed that "with Hamas in power, not even one shekel will be transferred to them." One of the wise men of Chelm pointed out the logical flaw, however. "Then they will get money from an enemy like Iran." Today the decision was therefore made to accept the funding of Hamas. "The aim is to prevent funding of the PA by Iran, or moneys collected by radical Islamist movements around the world." I kid you not. Preventing the collection of money by sending them money.

Michael Freund quips that this strategy will only work if "Hamas' bank account has a limit on accepting donations."

Get to the booths folks. Kos is within 10%

The bastids figured out how to "beat the system" They were down by 4000 votes this morning. They then posted how to break the Flash vote setting "cookie" (not quite accurate, but you'll understand) and have been cheating their asses off ever since.

I've been watching their #'s increase all morning, far exceeding Kos hits (amazing huh?). Oh well. I'd inform Lizards how to reset cookies. But, that's just not our way. Is it?

If that's the case, then contact Kevin Alyward at Wizbang who's running the contest - he'll give 'em a smackdown like you wouldn't believe for that...

Meanwhile,
Money, it's a gas. Forget the $35 million and think about what $1 billion might do. That's what this money for peace deal might provide to the Palestinians (who continue to not recognize Israel's right to exist).

When and how did you come up with the idea to propose a billion-dollar money-for-peace deal with the Palestinians?

Six months ago, when Warren Buffet purchased Iscar. That deal created a kind of euphoria throughout the country, making us forget the rest of our problems for a moment. So I said to myself: "Wait a minute. This might be just what the Palestinians need - a major financial deal which gives them the opportunity to extricate themselves from their dead-end situation."

But, because other such ideas had been attempted in the past, I had to come up with something different. I had to treat the proposal as I would a business proposition - to forge a deal by delineating milestones.

I told the Palestinians that in order for them to receive money from the private equity fund, they have to reach a peace agreement with Israel. At the first stage, when they sit down at the negotiating table, they will receive 10 percent of the fund - $100,000,000. This money will be invested in Palestinian industry. Entrepreneurs will have to submit requests and proposals, as is done with any fund. At the final stage, when they actually sign a peace agreement, the rest of the money - $900,000,000 - will be invested.

Anyone see any problems with that idea? I think it would stall out just after the moment they get their grubbies on the $100 million, which can go a long way to buying explosives, weapons, and manpower on the black market.

I just hear on Fox news that the Egyptians confiscated that money before Haniyeh even got to the border and donated it to the treasury of the Arab League.

It constantly amazes me how they can rationalize cheating.

How could anyone take pride in winning by cheating?

It's not a matter of pride; it's a matter of keeping their heads from exploding. Conservative winners violate their existential frame of reference. See: Bush Derangement Syndrome, causes of.

How is that any different to giving it straight to Hamas?

A real mystery? Who could be responsible for blowing the holes in the wall?

I think the idea is that a cash transfer is untraceable.

# 11 no limit -- you say that 'it is just not our way' (to cheat), I agree with you. Absolutely.

But if thing is worth winning (is it? I honestly don't know but have voted three times) and we KNOW the other side is cheating (according to you)then why not bring a gun to a knife fight?

Figure out a way to create a bot (you sound like that kind of person) that REALLY runs up the score for LGF.

But if it is NOT worth winning - then just leave things the way they are.

Israel could distribute the money to Jews that fled Arab countries.

Let the Arab League complain about that without bringing up the subject of THEM doing to Jews what they claim Jews did to Arabs!

But kudos to the Egyptians for apparently telling the Israelis!

And this means good news for Fatah, since Hamas would no doubt use the money to fight Fatah. I really prefer the weaker corrupt secular Fatah over the strong "religious" Hamas.

27 Jax  Thu, Dec 14, 2006 7:45:38am

If would have been nice to confiscate the terror cash, but Haniyeh should have been required to surrender his life before being allowed to cross the border.

28 NJDhockeyfan  Thu, Dec 14, 2006 7:51:12am

Could they say the money was destroyed in the blast?

HOLD THE PRESSES!

Two loud explosions rocked the Gaza-Egypt border after nightfall Thursday, and security officials said Palestinian gunmen had blown a hole in the border fence.

Are you trying to tell me that there is an APARTHEID FENCE between the sovereign state of EGYPT and the entity composed of individuals calling themselves "palestinians"?

Oh...someone needs to inform Carter.

Egypt: Peace not Apartheid!

To bad begging for dollars is not a sin. Come to think of it, Islam has no sins. Hopefully prisoners and Moham have their virgins together.
