Zombie: Impeachfest in SF

Mon, Apr 30, 2007 at 8:54:30 pm PDT

Last weekend was Impeachment Weekend in San Francisco, and Zombie made sure the moonbats were immortalized in all their dubious glory: Impeachment Weekend.

They look so cute.

2 jordash1212  Mon, Apr 30, 2007 8:56:49pm

What are they going to do when their term is up?

3 AZfederalist  Mon, Apr 30, 2007 8:56:55pm

I'm sure that their mothers would be proud.

Exactly how much intelligence does it take to be a moonbat?

4 prospero  Mon, Apr 30, 2007 8:58:25pm

I just checked my copy of the Constitution, and being evil isn't grounds for impeachment.

Sorry, dude.

Where's the peaches? I love me some peaches! Especially peach cobbler. Peach brandy, peach schnapps, georgia peaches.

It doesn't appear these guys have any peaches, so they can go to hell. The hell of no peaches.

Clownish morOONS!

Aw come on -- they had to work hard to learn to SPELL "impeach" -- you don't expect them actually to know what it means, do you?

I had previously posted about "impeach" on the beach.

Meanwhile, back to this summer's war news:

Syria built underground missile complex - Israeli paper
By Agence France Presse (AFP)

Tuesday, May 01, 2007

JERUSALEM: Syria has built a fortified complex buried deep underground and cloaked in secrecy to manufacture and store ballistic missiles capable of striking Israel, an Israeli newspaper said on Monday. The complex includes 30 reinforced concrete bunkers, production facilities, development laboratories and command posts, the mass-selling Yediot Ahronot quoted "foreign experts" as saying, without specifying its location.

The "missile city" houses mainly Scud missiles capable of reaching anywhere in Israel. Given its weak air power, Damascus is boosting its arsenal of surface-to-surface missiles and protecting them in the complex, Yediot said.

According to the paper, Syria has 200 Scud-B missiles, 60 Scud-C and a certain number of North Korean Scud-D missiles with a range of 700 kilometers, and has developed chemical warheads for all its Scuds. The chemical warfare agents are stored in a separate facility, Yediot quoted the foreign experts as saying.

It also said Iran recently supplied Syria with 100 Chinese shore-to-sea C-802 missiles.

In March, military and government sources told AFP that Syria had positioned thousands of rockets on its border with Israel, as part of indications that Damascus may be preparing for future "low-intensity warfare."

Well, this is what we would expect from terrorists because these scuds are terror weapons, not military weapons. The guidance systems on these are so poor, that they aren't very accurate. In all likelihood, these scuds )if used) will randomly hit cities, not military targets.

I dont think that is as off topic as you think it may be... Both the protests and the article you linked to are just pathetic!

I was asking myself while reading the muslims in space article, why dont they just tell they guy to make the best choice you can and be conscience of your religious beliefs in space instead of making minute by minute rules...

Then it came to me, they are afraid that their people will act like the complete morons in San Fransisco!

And thats why muslims are kept under continuous positive control by their religion. They dont want those kind of people. They cant possibly blame all the killings they would be forced to do on the Israelies!

The muslims who wish us harm must just HATE the fact that those idiots are USEFUL to them... cause what does that say about their own movement!

Oh well enough rambling out of me, I think I am quitting for the evening...

Excellent report as always Zombie.

It's amazing you are able to caption such photos so eloquently and with such humor when most of us are simply at a loss for words when we see these people. I am always expecting someone to yell "cut" or to see everyone just bust out laughing. But these people...really...are real aren't they?

I mean, they have become caricatures of caricatures of a copy of a copy of a real hippy from the 60's.

One thing I have noticed over the time I have been following Zombies website is just how aged the crowd seems to be. Of course, there are always the typical idiot anarchist kids and the young naive bright eyes majoring in peace studies from happy land (most of which will get older and slapped by reality after college)...but the real core of these crowds are old and all pretty much bat shit crazy looking or just plain burnt out. So once this fringe of the 60's generation retires and fades...maybe some of this idiocy will start to die out.

Nah.

Democrats conceding on war bill

Democratic leaders in Congress are slowly backing down from a standoff with the White House over tying war funding to a troop-withdrawal timetable, saying they can use other bills to confront President Bush on Iraq.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, is courting Republican support for compromise war-funding legislation to follow Mr. Bush's promised veto this week of a $124 billion bill that would start a pullout as soon as July.

Senior Democratic aides say that although House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is not similarly talking to Republicans about a post-veto agreement, she privately acknowledges that eventually the "money will get to the troops without timetables."

Excuse me? If you're against the war, defund it! Just don't pass any legislation.

Former Tennessee U.S. Senator Fred Thompson is drawing nationwide attention for his ongoing flirtation with running for president. He is also drawing a little unwanted attention here in Nashville of a very different kind.

Nashville law circles were abuzz last week about professional snoops – either private investigators or opposition research political types - combing public records in Metro buildings looking for potential dirt on Thompson. Property records seemed to be at the top of their list.

The word trickled up to Republican Party sources, who insist it is Thompson’s potential GOP primary opponents looking for ammo to use should the television star make the race.

Thompson running is a lock, according to GOP sources in the state who know him well. In fact, leading Tennessee Republicans surmise Thompson staying away from actively campaigning and being selective with media appearances is another sign he is going to get in the White House 2008 race.

Ahmed Tharwat: Where's the threat in washing one's feet?

Let's consider this assault on Western values and North American culture by Muslim personal hygiene. To understand the topic, Kersten really needs to understand the importance of the washing rituals, which may have something to do with praying (in Arabic this is called wudu) or not. Some Muslims may complain about a lot of issues, but I do not think they complain nearly enough about their daily torture at public bathrooms, where you are provided condoms as an incentive for casual clean sex but are severely under-equipped for a thorough washing.

Besides lacking a low-level washing area with a drain for washing feet, there is also no bidet-like system for cleaning after using the toilet. Water is the essential element for a thorough cleaning -- toilet paper will not suffice.

There are some very challenging aspects to nursing. Some very rewarding ones. And some very, very gross ones. Things that if I were to repeat, would make most very nauseous. For instance, I once took off a smelly bandage of a newly admitted patient, to find his entire wound from his surgical amputation infested with maggots. The smell was intolerable and I ran out of the room and down the hall gagging. He never took care of his wound and it didn't occur to him to seek medical tx until the smell got to him. Was a severe alcoholic.

The "missile city" houses mainly Scud missiles capable of reaching anywhere in Israel. Given its weak air power, Damascus is boosting its arsenal of surface-to-surface missiles and protecting them in the complex, Yediot said.

How are they under-equipped. Do they not have sinks, soap, and paper towels for washing one's hands after using the toilet? I can see her point if people went around wiping their butts with their feet. Yes, then a bathroom without a foot washer would be under-equipped for personal hygiene.

I don't think it's even possible to wipe your butt with your feet. How do they think their feet are going to get dirty? From having to walk around all the filthy infidels all day? Maybe every public bathroom should have showers in them so they can shower off throughout the day from having to be around us filthy infidels.

Guyana Woman Accused As Vampire "Lynched"
AP

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) - A crowd of Guyanese villagers lynched an elderly woman they accused of being an evil spirit who drinks the blood of human babies, police said Monday.
Authorities in the South American country said the woman raised suspicions with unusual behavior and was set upon by villagers who apparently believed she was an "Old Higue"—the equivalent of a vampire in the local Obeah religion that blends folk magic and African rituals.

The woman, who has not been identified, was beaten to death and her remains were found on Saturday in a village 15 miles east of Georgetown, police said.

Police have arrested three people and are questioning others, Superintendent Balram Persaud said.

"We are still investigating," he said.

Some expressed surprise at the persistence of belief in Higues, a creature said to take the shape of an old woman who can shrink herself to enter victims' homes through a keyhole.

They put you in a big black box,
And cover you up with dirt and rocks.
All goes well for about a week,
And then your coffin begins to leak.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout.
They eat your eyes, they eat your nose,
They eat the jelly between your toes.
A big green worm with rolling eyes,
Crawls in your stomach and out your eyes.
Your stomach turns a slimy green,
And pus pours out like whipping cream.
You spread it out on a slice of bread,

It strikes me Killian, that as much as we all like to make fun of this washing business, this is a really serious problem - one that is going to cost us the farm if we are not very careful and very vocal.

Many don't remember the days of separate washrooms in the USA, but I surely do. Whites got the convenient ones and blacks walked a half mile or so to the back of beyond. Couldn't drink from the same fountains either - might contaminate it you know. You might recall some of this - or at least learned about it in school.

That was four decades ago. We had this big civil rights movement exactly to stop such things as separate washing facilities. People even died to end separate washing facilities.

So now, forty some odd years later, here is the same exact liberal left - and I mean exact, many of them are the same people who marched for Civil Rights - supporting separate washrooms for muslims in the name of "religious tolerance."

Separate washrooms is NOT "tolerance." It is apartheid, just as much as the separate washrooms of the old South. This time it will be US who will be the "not good enoughs."

There is no "separate but equal" clause in the Constitution. Long since we have decided in this country that we would provide one set of public facilities for everyone. Muslims who do not like that need to move to somewhere else in the world.

Imam accused of sexual harassment

Riyadh - Police in the Saudi city of Jeddah have arrested a Muslim preacher accused of sexual harassment while allegedly attempting to cure sick women by reading from the Koran.

At the mosque where he had preached for 20 years, the 62-year-old imam had advertised a "miracle cure" for sicknesses by reading from the Koran, the Saudi newspaper Okaz reported on Monday.

But the preacher had also repeatedly subjected them to intimate touching. At first, most of the women had been too ashamed to report the man, head of a family whose home was next to the mosque.

There's a big debate between right and left as to what causes islamoterrorism. Let’s look at who was in charge during key moments in the rise of the islamofascists.

Khomeini takes over Iran, the Islamic war against the west begins. Muslim terrorism spreads throughout the world. - Carter

Khadafy and Iran are attacked by the US (Iranian oil platforms are shelled, Iranian airliner accidentally shot down by a U.S. destroyer, but Iran believes it's intentional so they stop messing with us realizing that if the U.S. stopped playing by the rules, the game would be over in a few hours.) - Reagan

Islamic attacks against the west cease for several years with the exception of the Lockerbie bombing for which Libya admits guilt and pays restitution presumably under threat of another U.S. attack which is now credible.

Islamic dictator gets his ass kicked by the US military - Bush senior

More muslim terror free years.

First deadly muslim attack on the US homeland, World Trade Center attack #1 -Clinton

Islamic terrorism starts it's second rising. Cole attacked, embassy bombings, biggest mass murder attack on the US is planned. - Clinton

After George Bush is in office for 8 months, the 9-11 attacks are carried out and the US fights back ousting two terrorist supporting dictatorships from two countries. - Bush

Now the dhimmicrats want to take over again. Which way do you think the islamic terrorism curve is going to go? Someone? Anyone?

(I think my timelines are right on this stuff but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Armed forces Imam 'doing duty'

[Link: news.bbc.co.uk...]

Imam Asim Hafiz was appointed Muslim chaplain to the British armed forces in November 2005. In his first full interview since taking up the role, he speaks to the BBC about his work.
Since his appointment, Imam Hafiz has kept a low profile as he provides "spiritual and pastoral" support to 340 serving British Muslims.
And he says that while the decision to appoint an Imam was "long overdue", he acknowledges that many feel there is no room for an Imam inside the armed forces.

Imam Hafiz graduated from an Islamic college in Lancashire in 1999. Since then he has held several positions in mosques, a Muslim boarding school and the NHS.

There will always be a minority of Muslims and non-Muslims who feel there is no place for an Imam in the armed forces

He was also the first full-time Imam for Wandsworth prison before taking up his current post at the age of 29.

Now his 'parish' consists of the Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.

/Blimey, those "moderate Muslim" lads are really pitching in! They're pushing 0.0000163% of the armed forces now, eh? Good on them!

Sheik cans Al-Jazeera for Feds

CONTROVERSIAL Mufti Sheik Taj el-dene Elhilaly cancelled a trip to Malaysia where he was to be interviewed by Al-Jazeera TV just hours after he was grilled by officers from the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

But Mr Trad said the Mufti was keen to proceed with an interview with AFP, who are investigating claims almost US$13,000 in funds donated by Australian muslims and meant for victims of last year's Lebanon and Israel war are unaccounted for.

Mr Trad said AFP officers interviewed the Mufti at his office at the Lakemba Mosque for almost 90 minutes yesterday.

He said investigators conducted a ``thoroughly professional interview'' including recording the interview and having an Arabic interpreter present.

Mr Trad was invited by the Mufti to sit-in on the interview.

``The Mufti told the officers he would do ``anything to improve the security of my country','' Mr Trad said.

The Mufti was in Lebanon with Lebanese Muslim Association representative Sheik Yihya Safi.

It is understood the Mufti told investigators he had never personally touched any of the money but merely ``observed the disbursement'' of about US$20,000.

He then made recommendations for the handing-out of another US$20,0000 before flying out of Lebanon to attend a conference in Iran.

It is believed investigators are probing the whereabouts of another US$13,000 amid claims it was distributed to a radio station with links to Hezbollah.

The Mufti has denied this.

Mr Trad said the Mufti was meant to fly to Malaysia on Monday night for an interview with Al-Jazeera TV, but cancelled the trip because of ``complications with his heart''.

``I set up an interview for him in Malaysia to address serious concerns from the community,'' Mr Trad said.

``At this stage he's said he will get back to them when he's feeling better.''

It is believed the interview was to repair the Mufti's reputation in the Muslim country over a series of damaging rants including likening scantly-clad women to uncovered meat and urging the world's muslims to ``stand in the trenches'' with Iran.

Impeach the liars? The majority of Congress, Willies Administration, The Goracle, and nearly every reputable intelligence agency in the world. Okay, get right on that then. Would be the best thing to happen for Republicans in years. The Dems don't wanna hear themselves on video and in print proclaiming the need to take out Sadaam and his WMD's when it was politically expedient. Then, in turn, flipping the other way, once again, for the sake of political expediency. Not going to happen.

Now that an Israeli company has bought the New York Times building on West 43rd Street, maybe the editorial offices can be preserved as a propaganda museum?

(FYI: The NY Times is moving to a new taxpayer-subsidized building opposite the Port Authority. The building is by Bruce Ratner's company, the same builder of the massively controversial and also taxpayer-subsidized Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn. Wouldn't you know, the Times hasn't said anything bad about Ratner?)

Former Times Editor Joins Carter In 'Apartheid' Libel

By: Gilead Ini
Wednesday, April 18, 2007

While there’s no inherent relationship between “progressive” thought and Israel-bashing, one-sided attacks on Israel and its legitimacy are a staple of some self-styled progressive publications.
(...)
It is both shocking and telling that well before Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made his infamous call to “wipe Israel off the map,” it was Judt and the New York Review [of Books] encouraging an end to the Jewish state.

But delegitimization of Israel is sometimes less overt and direct. In a recent issue of the biweekly magazine, Joseph Lelyveld, the former executive editor of The New York Times, takes a slightly more roundabout route. His review of Jimmy Carter’s widely criticizedbook Palestine Peace not Apartheid emphasized two main problems.

One is merely a complaint about style: “The former president’s peculiar combination of rectitude and starchy pride can be a little irritating,” he says. The other complaint is much more striking, especially coming from someone who was until recently at the helm of one of America’s most influential newspapers.

According to Lelyveld, Carter’s book doesn’t go nearly far enough with its apartheid analogy.

It’s not easy to establish yourself as more extreme an Israel-basher than Jimmy Carter, but Lelyveld does so by borrowing from the former president his main techniques of argumentation: distortions, lies, and ignoring or minimizing Israel’s legitimate security concerns.

The comments came after Mr Straw, Leader of the Commons, said that Britain should mimic America by retelling historic stories of how the country was formed.
In 2000, a flexible history curriculum was introduced. Every king and queen along with important dates and battles were removed from compulsory lessons for five- to 14-year-olds. The Battle of Hastings, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and the Magna Carta are no longer compulsory - being replaced by more general themes such as "Britain 1066 to 1500".
The Government has already proposed that "Britishness" - including an emphasis on values such as free speech, the rule of law, mutual tolerance and human rights - should be taught as part of a beefed up citizenship syllabus. It follows the introduction of compulsory citizenship lessons in September 2002.

Straw's new vision of history 'is hypocritical'

Recast Genocide Exhibit Opens at U.N.

UNITED NATIONS -- An exhibit on the 1994 Rwandan genocide opened Monday at U.N. headquarters after organizers recast a section on the killings of 1 million Armenians in Turkey during World War I -- a reference that angered the Turks.

The exhibit, originally set to open April 9, was postponed after a Turkish diplomat complained about the mention of the Armenian killings. The section now uses the term "mass killings" instead of "murders," does not include the number of people killed, and replaces "Turkey" with "Ottoman Empire."

Historians estimate up to 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Ottoman Turks around the time of World War I, an event widely viewed by genocide scholars as the first genocide of the 20th century. Turkey, however, denies the deaths constituted genocide, saying the toll has been inflated and that those killed were victims of civil war and unrest.

Johann Hari: How multiculturalism is betraying women

Do you believe in the rights of women, or do you believe in multiculturalism? A series of verdicts in the German courts in the past month, have shown with hot, hard logic that you can't back both. You have to choose.

The crux case centres on a woman called Nishal, a 26-year-old Moroccan immigrant to Germany with two kids and a psychotic husband. Since their wedding night, this husband beat the hell out of her. She crawled to the police covered in wounds, and they ordered the husband to stay away from her. He refused. He terrorised her with death threats.

A Lebanese-German who strangled his daughter Ibthahale and then beat her unconscious with a bludgeon because she didn't want to marry the man he had picked out for her was sentenced to mere probation. His "cultural background" was cited by the judge as a mitigating factor.

A Turkish-German who stabbed his wife Zeynep to death in Frankfurt was given the lowest possible sentence, because, the judge said, the murdered woman had violated his "male honour, derived from his Anatolian moral concepts". The bitch. A Lebanese-German who raped his wife Fatima while whipping her with a belt was sentenced to probation, with the judge citing his ... you get the idea.

Tory beaten up outside Mosque

A MAN accused of punching a Tory local election candidate in front of hundreds of witnesses, is set to be arrested today.

Park ward candidate Wazir Hussain said he was left bruised and bleeding after he made a remark about Labour plans to build a mosque in Green Road, Earley.

My night of jihad

Omar Khyam is 25 now, which means he was 15 in 1997 when I visited a scout hut just outside Crawley and spent an evening watching Omar Bakri radicalise his young audience. He probably wasn't there that night - the Old Bailey heard that he started getting interested in radical Islam in late 1998, when he was 17. During that period of Omar Khyam's life, he apparently supported the England football team but the Pakistan cricket team. It was Omar Bakri's job to teach the kids that they were not British. They were Muslim.

Then Omar Bakri gave them a lecture. It would have been a variation on a lecture he frequently gave: "There is a time when a military struggle must take place in the UK. Jihad. It's called conquering. One day, without question, the UK is going to be governed by Islam. The Muslims in Britain must not be naive. You must be ready to defend yourselves militarily. The struggle is a struggle between two civilisations, the civilisation of man against the civilisation of God."

I was standing in one corner, with my back against the wall. I found this situation slightly uncomfortable. And then, apropos of nothing, Omar made an announcement to the group.

"Look at me!" he said. "Here I am with two infidels. Saul is an atheist. And Jon ...'"Omar paused for effect, "... is a JEW."

Babar, whose family moved to the US from Pakistan when he was two, was radicalised after the first Gulf war. He came under the influence of militant preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed in the 1990s.

After September 11, he believed it was his duty to aid the Taliban, even though his mother worked in a bank at the World Trade Centre and narrowly escaped. He was introduced to Waheed Mahmood as a contact who could get fighters into Afghanistan. In 2002, Babar travelled to Britain to raise money for jihad and met fertiliser bomb plotters including Omar Khyam and Anthony Garcia.

Al Qaeda in Iraq leader killed: Interior Ministry

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, was killed on Tuesday in an internal fight between insurgents, the Interior Ministry spokesman said, but the U.S. military said it could not confirm the report.

Spokesman Brigadier-General Abdul Kareem Khalaf told Reuters: "We have definite intelligence reports that al Masri was killed today". He said the battle happened near a bridge in the small town of al-Nibayi, north of Baghdad.

Another source in the ministry said Masri had been killed in what he described as "probably score-settling within al Qaeda itself".

al-Reuters will now commence 24 hours of mourning.

Really interesting article from ABC. Vigilantes Impose Peace in Rio Slums

Considering that ABC is a lib bastion, this article is amazingly positive about the results achieved by the unauthorized "militias" in the Rio slums. In one case, drug dealers had occupied a soccer field for years, reserving it for their own use and keeping local children out. The vigilantes arrived, the dealers hightailed it (if not worse) and the children have the free use of what the article describes as "their recently liberated field."
Similarly, slum residents report that dope dealers, muggers, and armed robbers have virtually disappeared from some areas. Delivery trucks, not seen in these areas for many years, are on the streets again, and new businesses, like internet cafes and upscale shops, are opening.

Fresh anti-U.S. protest over Afghan civilian deaths

JALALABAD, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Burning an effigy of U.S. President George W. Bush and chanting anti-U.S. slogans, hundreds of Afghans staged a third day of protests on Tuesday over the killing of civilians in a raid by U.S.-led forces.

The protesters were mostly university students in the eastern province of Nangarhar, where up to six civilians were killed. They briefly blocked a main road into the provincial capital, Jalalabad, to protest the second killing of civilians in the region by U.S.-led coalition troops in less than two months.

"We do not want American forces. They should go. Death to America," another chanted, before the protest ended peacefully.

At frist glance I thought that was a quote from KOS or HuffPo.

I suspect that successful self-defense efforts like those described were a major reason that a nation-wide gun-control initiative was voted down in Brazil a couple of years ago.
American anti-gun groups pumped millions into the campaign on behalf of their Brazilian socialist counterparts, and were astounded that the common folk of the country just didn' buy it.

OT was watching a little news last night on the San Fran. bridge collapse. It drives me a little crazy when the news guys say the steel melted in the bridge and that the gas fire reached 2700 (I assume °F).

The steel did not melt in the bridge or at the world trade center it just weakened and sagged. There were clear pictures of the bent steel girders in the bridge pictures showing the distortion and warping of the steel but no puddles. 2700 is a lot hotter than a fire is going to get without the use of oxygen or a fuel that burns much hotter than gasoline.

Chavez continues effort to train wreck Venezuela's economy. Venezuela to take over refineries

Venezuela is to take control of the massive Orinoco Belt oil projects as part of President Hugo Chavez's nationalisation drive.
Many of the world's biggest oil companies have agreed to transfer operational control to the government.

The May Day takeover comes one year after Bolivian President Evo Morales seized his country's gas fields.

Mr Chavez has also said he wants to pull Venezuela out of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

So he thinks the government can be an oil company. He also thinks it can be a money center bank. Get this:

President Chavez has spoken of his ambition to set up what he calls a Bank of the South, backed by Venezuelan oil revenues, which would finance projects in South America.

Prepare for another live experiment in Marxism folks.

It looks like the French election is down to a choice between a socialist and a Marxist.

Cold comfort for French economy

Broadly speaking, Ms Royal advocates traditional socialist economic policies of state intervention, including a higher minimum wage and subsidised entry-level jobs for young people.

Mr Sarkozy, by contrast, wants to promote free-market measures, sidestepping the 35-hour working week by scrapping punitive taxes on overtime pay.

So far, Sarkozy sounds halfway sane, right? Well get this:

they both advocate paying people who lose their jobs the equivalent of 90% of their salary in social security benefits - Ms Royal for one year, Mr Sarkozy for "as long as necessary".

However, Mr Sarkozy does temper that by saying that those who refuse two successive offers of jobs for which they are qualified will get no further benefits.

Royal is doing the Marxist two-step:

Ms Royal has reached out to the environmental lobby by saying France should reduce its reliance on nuclear power to 50% of its electricity generation, as opposed to 80% at present.

She gives no indication of how this might be achieved beyond saying that "France is well-placed to become a world leader in renewable energy".

So she wants to become more dependent on burning fuels. How non-green of her.

How screwed is France? Look at their debt:

Amid growing concern about the size of France's public debt, which is now more than 66% of its gross domestic product, Mr Sarkozy's main idea is to replace only 50% of retiring bureaucrats.

Their debt is 66% of GDP, yet they want a 90% unemployment benenfit. Idiots.

Hilarious passage from Bill Bryson's book on Australia...

Bryson is listening to cricket commentary on his car radio on a lonely drive from Canberra to Adelaide on Sturt Highway. Ironically, you will need to understand cricket to enjoy the point of view of a man who was born and grew up in a non-playing country.

"After two whole pages of some rather insightful thoughts on cricket ("there's nothing wrong with the game that the introduction of golf carts wouldn't fix in a hurry", "I don't wish to denigrate a sport that is enjoyed by millions, some of them awake and facing the right way", "It actually helps not to know quite what's going on. In such a rarefied world of contentment and inactivity, comprehension would become a distration" and many such gems), including a passage in which he compares cricket to baseball for all his American readers, he carries on.

Neasden, it appeared, was turning in a solid performance at square bowel, while Packet had been a stalwart in the dribbles, though even these exemplary performances paled when set beside the outstanding play of young Hugh Twain-Buttocks at middle nipple. The commentators were in calm agreement that they had not seen anyone caught behind with such panache since Tandoori took Rogan Josh for a stiffy at Vindaloo in '61. [A sentence which conveys Bryson's perception that the bowling run up is long.] This was repeated four times more over the next two hours and then one of the commentators pronounced: 'So as we break for second luncheon, and with 11,200 balls remaining, Australia are 962 for two not half and England are four for a duck and hoping for rain.'

I may not have all the terminology exactly right, but I believe I have caught the flavor of it.

McCain Favors a 'League of Democracies'

WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate John McCain envisions a "League of Democracies" as part of a more cooperative foreign policy with U.S. allies.

The Arizona senator will call for such an organization to be "the core of an international order of peace based on freedom" in a speech Tuesday at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.

"We Americans must be willing to listen to the views and respect the collective will of our democratic allies," McCain says, according to excerpts his campaign provided. "Our great power does not mean we can do whatever we want whenever we want, nor should we assume we have all the wisdom, knowledge and resources necessary to succeed."

"To be a good leader, America must be a good ally," he adds in the speech, another in a series of policy addresses as he seeks the Republican presidential nomination.

What a bizarre concept... that 9/11 demonstrated that ALL religion is bad.

True Unbelievers, A sectarian split among atheists.

A recent Associated Press story, headlined "Atheists Split on How Not to Believe," has set fingers tapping throughout the blogosphere. The gist of the story as I read it is that there are soft atheists and fundamentalist atheists, and the softies are concerned that the fundies are becoming too outspoken, too uppity, indeed that they are giving unbelievers a bad name--a good trick that, like trying to give a bad name to an oil slick.

As usual, the impetus for this new development was 9/11, and the death and destruction caused by religious fanatics, after which some atheist intellectuals decided there was complicity in silence, thus they would be silent no more.

Just the same, for instance, as the Communist Party of the Soviet Union — let alone the Nazi Party of the Third Reich — demonstrated that ALL political affiliation is bad. /

For that matter, clearly, ALL organized government is bad. /

How can these “intellectuals” possibly find no difference whatsoever between Mother Theresa (just one handy example) and Osame bin Laden?

Greets and saluts from the sunny and warm NYC metro area. Whack a mole in Iraq. What's the most dangerous position in the world? Al Qaeda's #2 guy in Iraq, since they don't seem to have a whole lot of job security or benefits.

The leader of al Qaeda in Iraq was killed on Tuesday in a fight between insurgents north of Baghdad, the Interior Ministry spokesman said, but the U.S. military said it could not confirm the report.

There has been growing friction between Sunni Islamist al Qaeda and other Sunni Arab insurgent groups over al Qaeda's indiscriminate killing of civilians and its imposition of an austere brand of Islam in the areas where it holds sway.

If true, the death of Abu Ayyub al-Masri would signal a deepening split at a time when the Shi'ite-led government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is trying to woo some insurgent groups into the political process.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday forced their way into the campus of top Tehran university Amir Kabir Polytechnic and assaulted a group of student activists who were staging a peaceful rally against the detention of their spokesman Babak Zamanian, who was arrested last week. About a dozen students who were stabbed and attacked with chains were transferred to hospital. A similar attack by Ahmadinejad supporters was carried out Monday against activists at the university of Lorestan, in western Iran.

About a dozen government supporters wounded with knives students who were staging a demonstration on campus. One of the protesters, Siamak Nadali is in hospital in a critical condition.

What a bizarre concept... that 9/11 demonstrated that ALL religion is bad.

True Unbelievers, A sectarian split among atheists.

Make an atheist's head explode: point out the hundreds of millions of people murdered in the 20th century by the atheist communists. When the most negative impulses of humanity are fortified with an intolerant violent strain of religion, yes, violence has resulted. But take away ALL religion, and humans turn to even greater violence and depravity.

And now a word from the Twilight Zone...

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Tuesday that today, the World of Islam is victim of an organized terrorism.
Addressing the first International Congress on the Culture of Resistance, inaugurated here this morning, he regretted that certain bullying powers, by producing weapons of mass destruction, are the main elements posing threat to human beings.

The organized terrorist groups have been created by these bullying powers, the president added.

He further voiced his concern over the sharp increase in the number of defenseless people massacred in the past one year compared to the figures of the preceding year.

The Iranian president condemned efforts made by enemies of Islam to depict Islam as a religion of violence. However,
he reiterated that the truth will soon come out.

The first International Congress on the Culture of Resistance was opened with a speech by Director General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools and Thoughts, Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Taskhiri.

Representatives from 46 world countries are participating in the two-day congress

Can anyone answer me this question?

Set up.

I have a friend who has gone throug the Texas School System. From Kindergarten to Bachelors of Science Degree in Health.

She is now looking for a job.

Guess what the requirement is for EVERY job, public and private?

To speak spanish.

English speaking people are being discriminated against in the workplace. At federal, state, local, and private jobs.

All these employers claim to be EOE.

Why is it, a native born texan, a product of that states' education system is required to speak spanish to get a job?

She went through bi-lingual schools, but guess what. They didn't bother to teach her spanish in those bi-lingual schools. Nope they were busy giving extra time and extra effort to the spanish speaking kids english lessons. So why is it, now, they have a greater advantage in the job market than her?

If the job market requires spanish, shouldn't the state, who created this situation, remedy this by offering spanish language traning and courses for english speaking people?

That, or force people who want to live and do business and receive medical care in this country who interact with public agencies, businesses, hospitals to speak english?

I am a foreigner in my own land. And now the illegals are threatening to shutdown our cities today. What kind of nonsense allows this to happen in my very own country?

Where the illegal, the person who broke the law, gets more rights, gov't services, and recognition.

Tenet Does 60 Minutes
No wonder we’re in dire straits.

...
We delayed military action on Iraq for months in order to try to get the Security Council on board. In the interim, Congress engaged a spirited debate on the merits of deposing Saddam. Doubtless, many people in the administration believed strongly that we should invade Iraq. But the thought that there was no consideration inside the administration of whether we’d be better off not doing so — at a time when that precise question was being weighed by both the nation and the world — is inane.

Still, this suggestion is presented, unchallenged, as if it were plausible. CBS obviously wants to believe it. But the question begs: Why do the Iraq naysayers never confront the counterfactual scenario of their dreams? If we had left Saddam in place, the sanctions would have disintegrated in short order — Security Council members France, Russia and China were bought and paid for in Oil-for-Food bribes. Once the sanctions had collapsed, Saddam would have been right back in business — his WMD programs ready to be up and running again (to the extent they were not running already) as he sat there with about $20 billion in Oil-for-Food profits and an ongoing relationship with al Qaeda (among many other jihadist groups).

If you want to say we shouldn’t have gone to Iraq, and should have anticipated the present chaos there, fair enough. But at least have the honesty to say you’d prefer the alternative: A Saddam Hussein, emboldened from having faced down the United States and its sanctions, loaded with money, arming with WMDs, and coddling jihadists.

It's worth reading the whole thing.

So was 7WTC, which itself collapsed and caused damage to Fiterman Hall. The Greek Orthodox Church across the street was obliterated. The other 4 buildings in the WTC complex were heavily damaged or destroyed - and all needed to be deconstructed.

Fraudulent 'Fairness'
Conservatives dominate talk radio—but no more thoroughly than liberals dominate Hollywood, academia and much of the mainstream media.

...Some of today's illiberals say that media abundance, not scarcity, justifies the Fairness Doctrine: Americans, the poor dears, are bewildered by too many choices. And the plenitude of information sources disperses "the national campfire," the cozy communitarian experience of the good old days (for liberals), when everyone gathered around—and was dependent on—ABC, NBC and CBS.

"I believe we need to re-regulate the media," says Howard Dean. Such illiberals argue that the paucity of liberal successes in today's radio competition—and the success of Fox News—somehow represent "market failure." That is the regularly recurring, all-purpose rationale for government intervention in markets. Market failure is defined as consumers' not buying what liberals are selling.

Doing great.

Hey, I took in a Midwest league class A game last night between the Peoria Chiefs (Cubs affiliate)and the South Bend Silver Hawks (Diamondbacks affiliate).

Scouting report:

Neither team has any position players or hitters that will make it past AA ball, but there were two pitching prospects who could go to the majors in a couple years. They were the two starting pitchers.

The starter for the Chiefs was a big, strong right handed pitcher named Jose Ceda, 20 years old, 6' 5" and 247 pounds. Good pop on fastball(I put it at about 92 to 93), mediocre curve, change, and slider. His weakness is control, he nibbles and nibbles and goes 3 and 1 on the whole park. I swear I could have gone out there in my street shoes and gone 3 and 1 on him. He pitched 3 innings, gave up no runs and 4 hits. If he stops screwing around on the mound and just goes after hitters, with his stuff he can have a lot of success.

The real eye opener though was the starter for the Silver Hawks, a 19 year old lefty named Brett Anderson. Anderson is 6' 4", 220 and 19 years old. He has a very smooth motion, an outstanding curveball, sneaky fast fastball, and great control. Do you remember a big lefty from the 80"s named Larry Gura, realwest? This kid reminded me a lot of him. the hitters were just flailing at the ball all night. He shut them out for 6 innings, tired in the 7th and gave up 2 runs as his curveball got a little higher in the strike zone. Keep an eye out for him realwest, barring injuries this kid could be the real deal.

Other than that, a certain middle aged fan made a one handed catch of a foul line drive in the stands in the second inning as he was walking back to his seat carrying a hot dog, order of fries and a drink in a carry box, and did not spill a thing in the process. Amazing how the old reflexes still work after all these years. That baseball is sitting on my desk now as I write this :)

Here's the question,
Is it possible to have fewer pageviews then hits on a site?

I would think that the initial visit would count as a "Hit" and each additional page viewed by the visitor would drive up the Page View count, while the Hit count would remain the same.

I know that our counter always has more Page views then visits, which I assumed was the same as "Hits"

Listening to the far-left’s cries for impeachment one can seriously believe that the United States has become akin to fascist Germany. They seriously believe people are being rounded up in the middle of the night because they “spoke out”. Never mind not one single example can be mentioned.

Today the California Democratic Party passed a resolution calling for impeachment. This is significant because the California Democratic Party is no small organization.

On the unreality of the media focus on issues.
This is a war - not a grad seminar

Jonathan Kay
National Post

Last week's headline-hogging story was alleged prisoner abuse in Afghanistan. Well, not so much alleged prisoner abuse in Afghanistan itself, but rather what different Canadian politicians had to say about alleged prisoner abuse in Afghanistan. "Ottawa stirs storm of confusion," blared The Globe and Mail in an especially breathless Friday banner headline. And then another front page Globe splash on Saturday: "The government's changing story."

Even if the charge of Canadian wrongdoing remains unproven, the barrage of accusations made for compelling Question Period theatre. Certainly, it was enough to relegate the following boring news factoid to the back pages: According to a survey of Afghanistan by researchers at The Johns Hopkins University, the country's infant mortality rate has declined markedly since the Taliban were ousted in late 2001.

Given that the Taliban's major healthcare obsession was banning male doctors from treating female patients, this is perhaps not surprising. But the scale of the improvement is heartening, nonetheless. The new data indicate that about 13.5% of Afghan children die before their first birthday. That is a tragically high figure. (The Canadian figure is about 0.5%.) But it represents an 18% reduction from the 16.5% of children who died in 2001. Based on Afghanistan's population and birth rate, I peg the total number of Afghan babies saved every year thanks to the improved infant mortality numbers at about 43,000, or about 120 babies every single day.

Anderson needs to work on 3 things. He needs to change speeds a little more, improve his footwork fundamentals for holding runner on 1st base (he ties himself up on the mound the way he takes his stretch), and he needs to move around on the pitching rubber a little and give himself some better angles from hitter to hitter. He never changed pitching rubber positions all night. But he is real smooth and a great prospect. He pretty much stays 3/4 motion.

Egyptian blogger Sandmonkey on Pelosi's trip to Syria,

SANDMONKEY: Let me tell you something. I was in Turkey a couple of weeks ago and I met a couple of Syrian activists. They one thing they told me that was really funny about the Pelosi visit. After Pelosi came to Syria two things happened. People on Syrian TV were saying, “We forced the Americans to knock on the Damascus gate!” Sort of like an admission that we messed things up in Iraq so much that America had to come and beg for their help.
But the day after Pelosi’s visits there were immediate arrests of Syrian activists. That was the fruit she yielded. “Oh the Americans came over and they said they have a different foreign policy and they’re more interested in placating Bashar’s ego.” And he went out and got [arrested] everyone he wanted because he knew he had an ally in Washington that wouldn’t pressure him as much.

So yes, Nancy, there is a downside to talking with dictators.

I dont think the turnout will be as large as last year. Since DFW is rainy today most of the school kids wont skip, and if they do they'll head to the malls instead of marching. Early voting has started in Farmers Branch as well as a 15% drop in violent crime this quarter. And a 20% rise in new business applications compared to 1st quarter '06. So the illegal supporters lied when they said this would hurt FB.

Al-Qaida in Iraq leader killed, official says
Iraqi official tells NBC News that al-Masri slain in ‘internal’ insurgent battle

BAGHDAD - The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, was killed Tuesday in an "internal" fight between insurgents, the Interior Ministry spokesman told NBC News.

"We have intelligence reports that confirm he was killed," Brig. Gen. Abdul Kareem Khalaf told NBC.

"This was not an operation by the security forces, it was an internal battle that led to his death," Khalaf said. Reuters reported the battle happened near a bridge in the small town of al-Nibayi, north of Baghdad.

Another source in the ministry also told Reuters that al-Masri had been killed.

Both Khalaf and the other source in the ministry told Reuters that the authorities did not have al-Masri’s body.

No word from U.S.
The U.S. military told NBC that it could not confirm the reports but was looking into the matter.

“I hope that it is true, but we want to be very careful to make sure,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, a spokesman for the U.S. military in Iraq, told Reuters.

There has been increasing friction between Sunni Islamist al-Qaida in Iraq and other Sunni Arab insurgent groups, particularly over al-Qaida in Iraq’s indiscriminate killing of civilians.

Al-Masri, who is also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, assumed the leadership of al-Qaida in Iraq after Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. airstrike in June 2006.

U.S. and Iraqi officials accuse al-Qaida in Iraq of trying to tip Iraq into full-scale civil war between the country's majority Shiites and minority Sunni Arabs with a campaign of spectacular car bombs attacks that have killed thousands.

Iraqi officials also blame al-Qaida in Iraq for destroying a holy Shiite shrine in Samarrah a year ago, an act that unleashed a surge in sectarian bloodletting.

Modern oil exploration & extraction requires large amounts of capital investment. I'd like a tad more low level turning of the winds, and the instability is ok, but not super-fabulous, so I can only rate the chances as 'fair', but Youngstown, OH is my tornado pick city of the day

Now, areas of Texas not getting clouds and rain this morning, with dewpoints near 23º, and afternoon temps of 25º in central portions, near 32º in South Texas, will have more instability, but mid-level flow is weakening. Probably will be more tornadoes in Texas than Ohio today, but picking a city is hard, probably somewhere that gets a few hours of mid-day sun, and is near a boundary intersection.

For example, Laredo, TX is forecast to have a rather impressive 3100 Joules/Kg CAPE this afternoon, but low level winds are forecast to be light, so the tornado threat would be near nil. Unless, of course, an outflow boundary or two from yesterday's or last nights convection established a zone of enhanced vorticity that could be ingested into the powerful updrafts that much instability would generate.

Even if there were pictures of OBL and Saddam making out with each other the moonbats would still say "they're just friends - see no tongues." At some level, however, Bush et al. have only themselves to blame for some lack of credibility on the WMD issue and the links to al Qaida. If Stephen Hayes - one man alone mind you - can write an entire book on the subject with open sources, how much better a job could the administration have done to demonstrate Iraqi links to al Qaida with an entire staff of researchers and perhaps some declassified sources?

Hi... Still slaving, will be done soon, though...

Had a problem with a convenience store punk yesterday. After his attitude while not performing his job (I had to prepay $5 in gas for the bike, then had to go in twice after that to get him to turn the pump on), I asked to speak to the manager. I stood there politely for 10 minutes while nothing happened... Except for watching the punk kid on the phone with his manager, saying he doesn't have to take this from customers and then laughing about it...

Gonna chew out the manager when I go there this morning. I go in and fill up my Cherokee at least twice per week, at $45 per fill, not counting the coffee that I get. Fuckwads are out close to $100/week, probably $5k per year because of this asshole and because I couldn't speak to a manager when I needed on.

Am going to contact the corporate office, also...

yes, no amount of proof, no matter how much, will sway the left on such things.

There is more than sufficient proof to show the connections between OBL and Saddam, and the myriad of connections within islamic terrorism across the globe.

However, they SAY that they will only accept hard facts... then in the next breath talk about hidden and secret connections between Rove and Bush and the Saudis and terrorists and they are all in bed with the Jews, and if it wasn't for the nazi-like governmental coverups, they could have the proof!

Truth is, they WANT to believe in this big conspiracy because they don't like anyone to the right of McCain. . . and since the people on the right are talking about the dangers of Terrorism (when they're not too busy being treated like royalty), they disbelieve them.

But, the government, I believe, doesn't want to FIX the terrorism problem.

They want it to be like education, abortion and a few other pet issues that get them elected.

If they solved the problem, it'd be one less thing to argue about.

No politician wants to see a terrorist strike here in the United States (on their watch), but you can bet that they all have a plan for such a thing to try to spin everything to their benifit. (liberals blame Bush for 'angering' them, republicans blame limp-wristed liberal policy) . . . some token fighting, then back to maintaining the status quo.

The "NO WEAPONS IN SPACE" bumper sticker is on a Dodge Omni. Along with its twin the Plymouth Horizon, it was Chrysler's answer to the VW Rabbit (some early Omni/Horizon models even used 1.7l VW engines). The last Omnis were built around 20 years ago. The bumper sticker is no doubt anti-SDI, from the Reagan years.

The only desirable Omnis were the Shelby-engineered GLH ("Goes Like Hell") and GLHS (GLH with turbo).

On the death of AQ in IRaq leader, Al-Masri: many vague reports on who killed him. Not US or Iraqi security, some say "other insurgents" or Iraqi "tribes"... I wonder if it was the new Anbar Salvation Front which has been going after AQ in Anbar province for the past few months? Some of these fighers were previously part of the insurgency, not as ex-Baath or AQ, but as pissed of Sunnis and tribal leaders. They became pissed off at AQ and have been killing them in large numbers.

Ping Bong Diplomacy: Remarks at the InterAction 2007 Annual Forum

Secretary Condoleezza Rice
L'Enfant Plaza Hotel
Washington, DC
April 18, 2007

[snip]
Now with Iran, I would like nothing better -- as a matter of fact, I stood in the State Department at the end of May and I said the United States is prepared to reverse 27 years of policy of not talking to Iran and I will meet my counterpart anyplace, anytime, anywhere. But there is one international condition that has been established that needs to be met. And that is that Iran should cease its reprocessing and enrichment activities because the problem with allowing that to just continue while we talk is that the state gets better and better at doing it and therefore, gains more and more capability and potential to develop a nuclear weapon.

And it's not our condition. It was the condition of the Europeans, it's the condition of the Security Council, it's the condition of the IAEA. And so I have been asking myself the question not why won't we talk to Tehran, but why doesn't Tehran want to talk to us? Because meeting just that one international condition would bring Iran and the United States into face-to-face contact to talk about whatever is on their mind and whatever is on our mind. We have not limited it. We've said we'll talk about anything.

Now we don't -- we're not cut off increasingly from the Iranian people. One thing that we've tried to do is to make very clear that whatever differences we have with the Iranian Government, we don't have differences with Iranian people and their great culture and their desire to be recognized for that great culture. I don't know if you know; we've had several exchanges of people to Iran and Iranian people here. American wrestlers were in Iran, and by the way, got standing ovations wherever they went. The Iranian disaster relief professionals were here in the United States. We've had people from their equivalent of the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.

We need more star trek and star wars like battles...

then maybe news would be a little more dynamic:

"In Mexico, things are underway to prepare for the Cinco de Maya festival, said to be a good time for all comers... in other news, the Translaxian Alliance clashed with the Dracnarian Federation over the sea of tranquility today. Witnesses said it was anything but tranquil as the Alliance ships employed their new DD243 Laser systems against the aging Federation cloak ships.

Coming up after this commercial break, new tips on keeping ticks off your cat. Then, is it safe to have that mutating space slime in your kid's room? Ty Smith's news report may suprise you."

440 Kenneth  Tue, May 1, 2007 7:18:19am

Ahah! Bill Roggio comes through:

Initial reports indicated fighting "between insurgents" resulted in al-Masri's death, however this has since changed to "local tribes." The tribe is being reported to hail from Fallujah. If this is accurate, the death of Abu Ayyub al-Masri would have come at the hands of none other than Sheikh Abdul Sattar al-Risha's Anbar Salvation Council. As we've noted in the past, the 1920s Revolution Brigades and other Sunni insurgent groups have signed on with the Anbar Salvation Council to fight al Qaeda and secure Anbar province.

The tribe in question would very likely be the Albu Issa, which are prominent in Fallujah and regions to the east. An internal schism exists within the tribe, with the urbanized Albu Issas siding with the Anbar Salvation Council and Iraqi government, and the rural branches in towns such as Amiriya supporting al Qaeda in Iraq.

Guess what the requirement is for EVERY job, public and private? To speak spanish.

They probably can get away with it if they require EVERYONE to be fluent in both Spanish and English.

In fact, I could see how they might HAVE TO require Spanish of English speakers IN ORDER TO be able to require English of Spanish speakers.

If the job market requires spanish, shouldn't the state, who created this situation, remedy this by offering spanish language traning and courses for english speaking people?

Seems that way to me, yeah.

That, or force people who want to live and do business and receive medical care in this country who interact with public agencies, businesses, hospitals to speak english?

I think (as many others do as well) that that would be preferable. However, it is not the politically correct route that this country has been taking for the past several decades.

(Worse times a-comin'.)

Just remember, for the most part Al-Q in Iraq are "foreign" fighters there and I suspect something similar to the "organized crime wars" in Chicago and in NYC could be coming to fruition here.
Capone vs. Moran; young Italian/Sicilians vs Black Hand. Turf wars and fights over who should control/direct "insurgency" only help us and may in fact be inevitable, since these people (not Al-Q of course) are very tribal and jealous of their "turf".
At least one can hope!

How to Win Wars

The other night I could not sleep and watched the History Channel's special on General Sherman. Little Billy sure knew how to win a war: he took the textbook tore it up and aimed his army east.

Oddley enough, this is my counsel to George Bush and, hopefully, a new PM of Israel.

In July of 1863 Grant took Vicksburg, then nothing happened on the western front for an entire year. Stagnation is the friend of a cornered enemy. Stagnation has afflicted every aspect of the war for the last 2 years. The Lebanon debacle is one panel of the diptych, the US failure to crush Iran for killing our soldiers is the other. Both problems are solved by striking East- the US striking Iran from Iraq and the sea while Israel smashes Syria- this double strike will cripple the terror export business for a generation, pacify Lebanon and Iraq and lead to new governments in two enemy states.

Rather than being the persistent Lincoln, Bush is being the embattled LBJ- pulling in and actually reaching out to the enemy. His timing could not be worse: Khatami and Rafsanjani, alarmed at the dangers presented by Ahmadinejad's brazen bellicosity are attempting to pull together a coalition to impeach Ahmadinejad. Not that substituting these crooks for the current monsters is a real improvement- as long as Islamists rule Iran, their policy will be terrorism and getting the bomb; slapping a false mask of moderation over their true face of fascist oligkleptocracy would buy time, good will and a free run to the bomb.

The only good thing about good thing about such coups is they cause upheaval and sometimes lead to events that otherwise would not happen- some revolutions aimed one way end up in a place their planners and leaders did not intend.

So what does Bush do? He takes half measures on Iran and opens diplomatic channels with our soldier's murderers! But this is not what has me gnawing the furniture in frustration. Rather it is the spectacle of Ahmadinejad hosting a pro-terrorism conference called the Congress on the Culture of Resistance starring the usual antidemocratic friends of terror and murder- Hezbollah, the Mahdi Army, Hamas, the PIJ and Syria. Rarely is there a better bombing target than this- what a message it would have sent to hit it.

If all of Iran's leaders are bad news, the impeachers being somewhat less bad is not the real change we need but it certainly is a destabilizing event we should most definitely encourage; so what does Bush do? He throws the worst barbarians a lifeline, the very aura of respectability and normalcy the monsters crave. All while their centrifuges in Nantanz spin us all towards genocide and terrorist blackmail. The Ayatollahs are so close the bomb they can taste it. Power and empire are within their reach.

You learn something everyday- today I learned Khomeini sent trucks of weapons to support the '79 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran giving permanent lie to the idea the students hatched the takeover and proving the Iranian government was complicit on a direct attack
against the US. The other thing I learned is the US took a safehouse in Baghdad recently and found certificates of completion for terror training from camps in Iran.

We catch them coming over the border, we find their weapons, we find their EFPs, we find their documents showing them causing what is turning out to be the worst military self inflicted debacle since Vietnam and we reward the very cause of defeat with the chance to sit down at the table as our equals.

No paper ever ever questioned Lincoln's resolve to win the war: only his and the Army's ability to win. For the first time in six years I am questioning whether this President has the will to win this fight.

Wake up! Strike East, you won't find the Navy waiting at the sea, you find more of our Army, and Victory.

Here's a great story on the front page of my hometown paper this morning, about a Korean War vet.

Korean War veteran earns honor for work with vets
5/1/07
DeBock takes pride in helping those who served

Bill DeBock served his country for more than 20 years, but now spends his time serving those who served alongside with him.

That’s why he recently was named Kenosha’s Veteran of the Year, but he wasn’t readily available for an interview because he was too busy doing the things that got him the award in the first place.

Last week he was 260 miles away at The Highground, a veteran’s memorial park in Neillsville, Wis., where he was fertilizing the grounds and staining display boards. Many days you can find him at Vet’s Place in Union Grove, helping homeless veterans who are going through rehab. Or he’s taking those veterans with him to Bong State Recreation Area, clearing the trails and keeping it clean.

And sometimes he’s at the grave site of a veteran he doesn’t even know “because they served their country and no vet should be buried alone,” he said. “Maybe their family is gone. Somebody should be there to get the flag.”

Christian Brings Case Against Radical Mosque and CAIR

A brave African-American Christian has filed a lawsuit today against organizations that he alleges are attempting to bring a radical form of Islam to his neighborhood and are striving to spread this extremism throughout America. A press conference concerning the matter will be taking place today.
The organizations named in the lawsuit are the Islamic Center of South Florida (ICOSF), the Florida office of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida), and the national office of CAIR.
The lawsuit is in response to the Pompano Beach City Council's dangerous decision to grant a permit to ICOSF for the creation of a 29,000 square foot radical suspect mosque within the northwest section of Pompano,
an almost entirely Christian and African-American area. The imam of this
Islamic center has a history of ties to terrorism, and anti-Semitic statements.

The "tribal thing" has been going on among Arabs since long before Islam. Tribes range across modern borders, and tribal allegiances are more important that national or political issues.

During WWI, Lawrence had to negotiate (and bribe) each tribe in each region where the Arab revolt operated. When he entered a new tribe's territory, he often had to send another tribe back due to old inter-tribal rivalries.

The tribes in Anbar used to permit AQ to operate, if not directly help them. But that has changed, now the tribes are killing AQ. They know the land and know where AQ is hiding, so this is the death knell for AQ in Anbar. Most of AQ has moved to Diyala province, north west of Baghdad, & bordering on Iran). That is where Petraeus is getting ready to engage them.

A Loser's History
George Tenet's sniveling, self-justifying new book is a disgrace.
By Christopher Hitchens

Oh my, this is a high quality Hitchens thumping. Enjoy.

And now comes Tenet, the man who got everything wrong and who ran the agency that couldn't think straight, to ask us to sympathize with his moanings about "Iraq—who, me?"

A highly irritating expression in Washington has it that "hindsight is always 20-20." Would that it were so. History is not a matter of hindsight and is not, in fact, always written by the victors. In this case, a bogus history is being offered by a real loser whose hindsight is cockeyed and who had no foresight at all.

Speaking of Code Pinko, screeching harpie Medea Benjamin will be featured on this week's installment of moonbat radio's Between the Lines.

"Peace Groups Pressure Congress to End Iraq Occupation as Bush Vetoes War Spending Bill." Interview with Medea Benjamin, co-founder of the group Code Pink, conducted by Scott Harris.

Also featured on today's tone-deaf episode: an interview with a gun-confiscation lobbyist.

"Virginia Tech Murders Could Rouse Public Support for New Gun Laws." Interview with John Lowy, senior attorney with the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, conducted by Scott Harris.

Because stricter gun laws would have stopped the VT murders.

There is a very angry branch of atheism that is basically "anti-religion". Usually people that come from a strong religous background or hypcritical religous people. I've considered them evangelical atheists - always looking to spread the non-word. They tend to be just as closed minded as those they accuse of being fundamentalists.

I've always figured, at the very least, that since no one can know for sure, then one must allow for at least the possibility that God exists. And the possibility that He doesn't.

Therefore, it becomes a matter of choice, to believe or not.

But to claim out of hand to know that God does not exist -- that's just ignorance combined with arrogance.

IMO :-)

Oh no! It looks at if we have a serious environmental problem!

Just when we thought the population of the rare pink whale was increasing, we have to suffer the horrid images of several of them beached in SF.

Zombie, I hope you were kind enough to think of the whales whilst doing your photojournalism bit.

It think the right thing to do would be to take a picture or two, and then run out to the beach and spray them down to keep their skin moist? I'm hardly a whale expert, but I think you are supposed to spritz them down with wine coolers periodically so that their skin won't crack and cause the stinky blubber to become exposed. I feel for you Zombie. The stench must have been simply overpowering.

I blame human caused global warming for the unfortunate beaching. I can't prove it, but damn it, it just FEELS right. Oh, and Bush, naturally.

Actually, maggots only eat dead tissue, so they do a fair job at debriding the wound. Not very esthetic, however.

Maggots are sometimes applied to severe burn wounds, as they can promote healing and prevent scarring.

#492 I DO belive the US plan in the ME WILL fail. Why? If Say you were in the IDF and you were ordered to "occupy" sounthern Lebanon, And the generals told to to try and win "hearts and minds" by handing out candy teaching them how to wipe their ass, do you think that would win the Shia Hezbullah supporters over to Israel? Think about it. So now you have this new "touchy feely" US Army trying to do the same thing in the ME. In fact a lot of the people i have met on the net and elsewhere who said i was "racist" for critisizing Islam were Army personel! Why? Becuase they have been indoctriniated to belive we can win "hearts and minds" (gimmie a break). And they are basically under orders to "tow that line." When i asked one of them Straight up "Is there a global Islamic insurgency?" his answer was no, that is was a small minority. Of course he didnt know crap about Thailand or Bosnia or Chechnia or Kashmir or even what a Pashtun was, but he was sure that Islam is "no different than Christianity." But it is hard to tell someone in uniform that they are wrong, so i let it slide. Also, Not ALL were like this, I met a few mostly NCO's who knew the truth, it was mostly the Commissioned people who were spouting "rhetoric".
I even got into a heated debate with an Airmen If the DC sniper and the EL-al shooter were "terrorists". His answer was that they were NOT terroism but "hate crimes". LOL! Nope, no political motivation there! /sarc
So anyway, back to my original point, As long as the US belives it can deal with people by winning "hearts and Minds" we are GOING TO LOSE. Im reminded of Khan from Star trek when he said "sure there has been technological achivement, but how little man himself has changed. Yes, we will do WELL in your century." To me its like this, Sure we are more advanced but that doesnt mean there are "new ways" to fight an enemy as well? As far as i know since the birth of Islam there have been a few "kaafir" powers that have defeated the region and quelled all dissention. No terrorism, no up risings.
If we are to be successful we have to look to these powers for examples. The first example is "the Golden Horde" or the Mongols! ;) they decimated the entire region and offically put an end to the Arab Islamic Califate in the 13th century. Never would the Arabs ever have an empire ever again. Later the Turks would rebuild a turkish led Caliphate. Lets follow the Golden hordes example.
Lemme finish with a quote from a great movie that distills this idea down to its basic form.

"And then I realized...like I was shot...Like I was shot with a
diamond...a diamond bullet right through my forehead...And I thought:
My God...the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect,
genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were
stronger than we. Because they could stand that these were not
monsters...These were men...trained cadres...these men who fought with
their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with
love...but they had the strength...the strength...to do that. If I had ten
divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly. You
have to have men who are moral...and at the same time who are able to
utilize their primordal instincts to kill without feeling...without passion...
without judgement...without judgement. Because it's judgement that
defeats us. "

#546 El matamoros - Interesting post, to say the least.
As a one time cerified by the US Army CounterInsurgency "specialist" (it isn't anywhere near as impressive as it may sound and it's from Vietnam Era) I can tell you that there IS some validity in "hearts and minds" if in fact you're fighting a "guerilla" war; if you can obtain sanctuary, help covering your tracks and obtain material support from the locals, as a guerilla you're waaay ahead of the game. See, e.g. Che in Bolivia. One US Special Forces A team (12 guys) from the 8th Group in Panama went to Bolivia, tracked him, found him and captured him and his men in about 11 days; having no familiarity (that I know of) with Bolivia itself. In large part because the Bolivians themselves didn't support Che or his cause.
Just sayin...

Well i must admit that my post seems REALLY harsh like im advocating genocide or something. Im not. Neither did the Mongols. But they didnt futs around either. Also, your examples while interesting IMHO bear no relation to the current situation. The Che situation was different becuase Che had no support to BEGIN with and acting like barbarians would only lead the Peasants to maybe be favorable to him. But in THIS situation the ground is already "sour". Of course depends on the country. But culturally speaking a Muslim WILL ALWAYS favor a Muslim over a Kaffir, and a Tribesmen over a stranger.
Anyone who decides to make alliance with the US wil have their head chopped off, simple as that. There is a reason why the Iraqi police carry masks. I just think its foolish to think we can "win them over". WE are now in a situation like the police in the Movie "fort Apache the bronx" or Any police in a Ghetto Area. They hate us, they wont "snitch", To our face they will be nice but turn your back and they'll be planning where to put the IED's. Maybe if we started to readopt the attitude that we had in WWII things would go a LOT smoother for us. (not them) If not, be prepared for a 300 year long insurgency.

I don't know, but it's an epidemic. I had an even worse problem with a punk at Lowe's a few months back -- had to get the manager on his ass, after he stopped to chat with his friends while I (and the people in line behind me) was waiting for a price check. Prick was gone over five minutes when the item he was checking on wasn't over 40 yeards away...

When I went to find him and confronted him about it, he thought is was funny and gave me the wrong price...

His manager wasn't amused...

Or is it that the things he says only make sense to someone who's high?

Hey, be carefull there - that might be real medicine!
We just foolin' around here - you take it easy, hear?

Hi ya.
Nothing I can cop to (don't tell redstate, but I think she merely has a case of the nerves).

698 Beach Lover  Tue, May 1, 2007 12:35:16pm

I'd offer to open the bar, but none of all y'all can mix your meds (using term loosely in Real's case) with alcohol!

That's the stuff that, thanks to the meth lab rednecks, you have to ask for the cold medicine at the Wal-Mart now and are limited to one box per purchase!

Here's a fun fact for you. Did you know that you stay drunk longer when you mix your alcohol with a diet drink? It metabolizes more slowly because it doesn't have the sugar to speed it along.

708 realwest  Tue, May 1, 2007 12:45:18pm

#698 Beach Lover - Oh g'head, open the bar (although I confess I don't drink alcohol anymore. Period.).
But one last funny (I hope) before I start looking for Mom to get home and a TRUE story:
Doc gave me an RX for sleeping pills right after the discovered my cancer.
SO I'm reading the label on this jar of sleeping pills and it says "Caution: drinking alcohol with this medicine may make you drowsy."
Well, d'oh, IT HAD BETTER make me drowsy all by itsownself!
It's been grand y'all, but I'm afraid I gotta go now.

I don't often take that stuff though. Vitamin C, Zinc and echinacea.

Also a clove of Garlic.

since that screws with your stomach a bit, also a chunk of fresh ginger root.

734 LanceKates  Tue, May 1, 2007 1:16:01pm

tear out a clove, chew it up and swallow it. (Yes, it'll be kind of gross when it is that strong)

it may make your stomach a bit cranky, but it does WONDERS for your immune system (and is a natural anti-biotic)

Also, a small piece of fresh ginger root (about half to 3/4 the size of the garlic clove) will balance out your stomach and also helps your general health.

do that once a day.

when you're getting a cold or whatever, the Vitamin C, Zinc and echinacea every 3 or 4 hours for a day (then three times a day for a couple days) will help you feel better.

(No echinacea if you have heart problems though, it doesn't react too well to some heart meds, and since I don't know what heart meds they don't like, I tell anyone with heart meds or heart problems to stay away)

*I am not a doctor and this is not doctorly advice, just notes of what I've done during my life, recognizing that a pill and food are the same thing to your body, just different chemicals... many of which are found in nature, then made syntheticially to put in pill form.

Yup. Worse then awful. I've read some reports that indicate only a 15-20% rehab success for meth addicts. And some reports indicate that it only takes ONE time to become addicted.

I believe meth addiction is a much bigger problem in our country than we know.

I worked with a girl. cute girl. Not horridly bright but nice.

Got into drugs. I knew that one day she'd end up meeting up with some guy at a party and disappear with him, exchanging drugs for sex.

she doesn't show for work one day, then another day, etc. There is even an Amber alert put out for her.

Turns out that she met a guy at a party, he offered her lots of drugs, as long as she went home with him (in another part of the state) and had regular sex with him.

Drugs are bad... m'kay?

741 gettinby  Tue, May 1, 2007 1:25:45pm

You got that right, Lance.

We have a former in-law who got addicted to meth. If I could do screenwriting, it would make a phenomenal movie but no one would believe it to be the truth.

/still makes me shudder. :(

Just heard on the radio that Rupert Murdoch(sp?) put in a bid to buy Dow-Jones. Should be interesting.

And President Bush was in Tampa today. Don't even want to read the Tampa Tribune tomorrow. Their bias just puts me in a bad mood.

746 LanceKates  Tue, May 1, 2007 1:34:06pm

Nope, you're right, I'm wrong.

Dow Jones Company (which owns the Wall street journal)

747 LanceKates  Tue, May 1, 2007 1:35:13pm

from the article on Drudge:

The union representing Dow Jones employees, the Independent Association of Publishers' Employees, was harshly critical of the prospect of being owned by Murdoch, and issued a statement saying that Murdoch's bid was opposed by the staff "from top to bottom."

"Mr. Murdoch has shown a willingness to crush quality and independence, and there is no reason to think he would handle Dow Jones or The Journal any differently," the union said. "Despite our differences of opinion with current management, we strongly encourage the Bancrofts to continue to stand up for the institution's independence, and to walk away from this offer."

heh... sounds like a union is against the person who owns Fox News. . . . can you imagine a UNION being liberal?

*fakes shock*
