Aging communists, doddering hippies, dumb-as-a-post Che Guevara groupies, illegal aliens, and Mexican wrestling masks made of tinfoil. No, it’s not a hallucination from eating bad sushi; it’s May Day in Union Square, courtesy of LGF reader NoSubmission.

Here’s the slideshow.

It always makes me laugh that some of the biggest backers of communism never have lived under its brutal form of government.

If they really really support this form of government then live in Cuba for a while and let us know how enlighted it is.

May 1, the illegal aliens are marching in SoCal, and it's time once again to say my say:

The Mexicans will be our Palestinians. They'll move here in droves, declare themselves a people, and demand control of the land they've been "peacefully occupying for thousands of years."

That's what I snarked last year. This year, a short, old Mexican woman, probably non-English-speaking and illiterate, was seen with a sign at the L.A. illegal alien march reading "We Are Palestinians." Who the hell told her about Palestinians? How did she make the connection? What convergence was responsible for that?

Ignore at our peril.

Every freaking poor person from Africa to China would invade us. Talk about turning our country into pure squalor! Do they really want to live like that?

18 El matamoros  Tue, May 1, 2007 5:43:22pm

Pathetic really. Reminds me of the Eccentric French party that demands the resoration of the french monarchy. Must really suck to see your whole entire Philosophy (communism) first disintergrate and then you just become a laughing stock and a joke.

19 St. Pancake  Tue, May 1, 2007 5:44:05pm

Ok
The paper mache football player Che was interesting.

The World without Borders sign was so passe though.

The Free Mumia sign was artistically challenged.

The Che signs in general were uninspired.

There were no furby designer outfits, which is another negative in my book.

All in all, I rate this a 2 out of 10 in terms of moonbat protest attractiveness.

Re: Guy with yellow solidarity shirt

I hate when swindling Leftists exappropriate the slogan Solidarity for Marxist propaganda purposes. First of all, it has nothing to do with the real solidarity that animated the Polish Catholic anti-communist labor movement. Secondly, my experience with Leftists is that once they manage to get into a position of power, solidarity is the last thing on their mind.

Who Said This?

“We are Socialists, enemies, mortal enemies of the present capitalist economic system with its exploitation of the economically weak, with its injustice in wages, with its immoral evaluation of individuals according to wealth and money instead of responsibility and achievement, and we are determined under all circumstances to abolish this system!”

87 scott in east bay  Tue, May 1, 2007 6:09:52pm

Criminey.

I got off work here in San Francisco today, and walking to BART (subway/train) I was behind a bunch of Latino guys in their 20s with their "Unconditional Amnesty" T-shirts.

I passed them by on the sidewalk; and then muttered LOUDLY: Donde esta la migra quando lo necessitamos? (Where is Immigration when you need them?).

A couple of them turned around and sneered at me. Fine. Don't care. But one looked menacing, so I followed up with "I hope you don't think America is like SF - it's not".

My other observation is that at all these rallies, there are these ANSWER posters, all convenienly made in advance with the little Spanish slogans. They are carried at all these events, usually by protein-deficient white lefties who have no idea what they say.

Wouldn't it be fun to put out a bunch of Spanish ANSWER posters that said, in Spanish "Fuck illegals", or "Stop taking jobs from American workers".

Well, you get the drift.

Tomorrow, I have to send my boss a list of departmental policies that ensure that NO ONE in San Francisco government (where I work) will do anything to help Immigration do their job.

I will be biting my tongue all day.

And we did the May pole thing at school every year. So it's phallic - we didn't know that at the time! It was fun.

The interesting thing is that Mexico has very strict border enforcement in the south. People who try to enter Mexico illegally are thrown in jail. But in the good old USA, we give our illegals drivers licenses and welfare. And if they have children here, they get to stay because the baby is an American citizen automatically. All because of people like those at the San Francisco rally. Idiots.

Tell your government to protect you from thieves, thugs and ne'er-do-wells, but otherwise stay the fuck out of your life.
Go ahead and grow your hair, but keep it clean.
Go ahead and put the steel shit back in your face - if your employer allows it.

The funniest thing is that everyone's favorite communist, Che Guevara, reportedly hated Mexicans and described them to his friends as basically dumb, uneducated trash. He felt the same way about Bolivians incidentally.

I can report on the march here in Chicago, since it went right past my office.

LOTS of Mexican flags. Groups of red-flag wavers (obviously from the IWWP and other communist organizations) interspersed at strategic intervals. A few Che banners. There were many American flags, but half were not carried in any respectful manner, but were draped over shoulders and wrapped around waists like ragged towels.

A cacophony of Mexican chants filled the air: "La raza!" and the old saw "Si su puede!"

No violence, but a definite "in-your-face" taunt that said: "We are here and there's nothing you can do about it!"

It was an insult to my country. It was an insult to my family (who came here legally, played by the rules, and became citizens); it was an insult to the rule of law.

Oh, wait. Sorry. I saw those anarchists for no borders and got a little confused.

So, it looks like they've improved their execution some this time. I didn't see any Cesear Chavez posters, which means someone got the memo that he was against illegal immigration. Plenty of U.S. flags this time too.
Of course, this time they were a lot more blatant about just being a bunch of socialist bed wetters who desperately want a nanny state that will bend over backwards to supply citizenship, free health care, education and welfare to people who don't deserve it.

Personally, I'd like to think that all the College freshman douchebags will find these pictures of themselves in five years and wonder what the hell they were thinking. Unfortunately I fear that instead they will merely grow into the older hippies funneling misguided youth into the Rebellion Du Jour in order to try and justify all the lame causes they've wasted their lives 'believing in'.
Like the teachers out here in Tucson who walked out of class with their students...

My favorite reading from the 24-Hour book is for today, 01 May:

All material things, the universe, the world, even our bodies, may be Eternal Thought expressed in time and space. The more the physicists and astronomers reduce matter, the more it becomes a mathematical formula, which is thought. When Eternal Thought expresses itself within the framework of space and time, it becomes matter. Our thoughts, within the box of space and time, cannot know anything firsthand, except material things. But we can deduce that outside the box of space and time is Eternal Thought, which we can call G_d.

Guinea's dirty dancing backlash
[Link: news.bbc.co.uk...]

Men in Guinea's capital have begun attacking women who they accuse of doing the popular buttock-swinging Wolosso dance from Ivory Coast.

Teenagers wearing skirts or hipsters, associated with Wolosso, which partly expose their buttocks and midriff have been stripped naked and beaten up.

The attacks follow a performance by an Ivorian Wolosso group last week.

The provocative dance is considered by many in the mainly Muslim West African country to be pornographic.

Craze

The police have confirmed a few cases of alleged rape committed by the rampaging youths and more than 30 men have been detained in connection with the violence.

Young Guinean girls and African women in general should not dress themselves like European girls

Conakry resident

Some girls refuse to go to the Bambeto and Cosa suburbs of the capital, Conakry, for fear of being a target.

Others have resorted to donning the long traditional wraps to avoid incurring their wrath.

The craze for Wolosso music and the dress style adopted by fashionable teenagers and women in the capital has become a hot topic of debate.

"Young Guinean girls and African women in general should not dress themselves like European girls," one man told the BBC.

One woman decried "this Wolosso business".

"In a Muslim country like ours, we should not be watching and imitating these music videos. I advise threaten all girls and women to dress themselves in proper clothes."

I know this sounds like i am a cold blooded hateful person, which i am NOT, but,, i don't have medical insurance, and i have a job that barley pays my bills while i pay txes but if i need a kidney transplant, will the news do that for me too, maybe, maybe not,, it depends on your "story", and today,, what a perfect story,, I am sorry, but I won't donate.sorru if that makes me a bad person or a racist,

As a legal immigrant, I have to say that these so-called "protests" make me outraged and disgusted.
When in the old country, I applied for a permanent resident visa and waited for it patiently for a cuple of years, then paid for a plane ticket, then waited for five years to apply for citizenship, then took the citizenship exam and waited for the oath for months. All that time I was working hard, studying hard and paying taxes. Meanwhile, all these so-called "immigrants" did was run across the border, work illegally, not pay taxes and send money back to their country, and now they make me learn another language and today they block traffic when I'm trying to drive and demand "equal rights"? I spit on them!

Unfortunately, Brenda, you are the confused one. California (along with NM and AZ) were stolen from Mexico many years ago... that makes you the thief!

Mexico lost these territories in a war. Unjust? Perhaps...though I doubt Mexico would have stepped out of the Third World if they had kept these lands, lands they claimed due only to earlier Spanish conquests. And no, I don't buy into the mythical land of Aztlan being in the American Southwest or the racist la raza shit. Oh, the Aztecs and the other great nations of Mexico were bloodthirsty conquerers, i.e., thieves.

We should have taken the Baja pennensula while we were at it. Compare Florida to that hole. Now imagine we having a west coast Florida also.

The thing that annoys me the most about the left is the romanticism.

Human nature will never change. Socialism will never work. "Power to the people" is crap. Unguarded borders are insane.

We are probably living in the best of all possible worlds. These young Americans might even be living in the best of all possible countries. They should learn to appreciate it or kill themselves.

You said it, although I don't use the "k" word, I agree. When some leftist (and a few rightists) start talking about overpopulation, I say, "You know, you're right...and I think you should do something about it...something substantial...something personal...something that says to the whole world, "I'm not a hypocrite." Most of the time, however, they don't even understand I'm suggesting they reduce the population by one, and not someone else. That's how dumb they are.

225 Ocelot  Tue, May 1, 2007 8:34:15pm

#217:

From IHT, cited back to US Dept. of Labor:

California harvests about half the nation's fruits, nuts and vegetables — a massive undertaking that requires about 225,000 workers year-round — double that during the peak summer season. More than half are immigrants who cross the Mexican border illegally and travel from field to field picking some 400 different crops that each ripen at different times.

That's reality, and just a slice of it in
California. It's caused by a lot of
things: a motivation by these
farm laborers to work their tails off to
better the lot of their children,
the irrestistible lure of work that
needs doing, and USians who demand The
Lowest Price from Apples to Zucchini.

They pay taxes, directly in sales taxes,
indirectly because whomever pays them has
to pay income tax, because the illegal expense is not deductible as a business expense.

As a bonus for their hard work, they get to
live in the shadows of society, so they
won't get too uppity. /sarc

Some of them drive cars and trucks, but can't get insurance despite a willingness to pay.

I agree that anti-assimilation expressed by
refusal to learn English is a serious problem.

Mixed in with that stream of farm laborers,
1 of every N is a bad guy.

I'm sorry you had to wait so long for your
turn. But, you too could have come immediately if you wanted to trade away
your standard of living and civil rights.

I would be happy to give civil rights,
and English lessons (still the lingua
franca of the higher economic rungs),
and some more direct tax responsibility,
to immigrant farm laborers. Some will be liars, but we will have record of their
entry. And we'll know that border sneaks
are REAL bad guys. (well, there's that
war on drugs thing, but that's another
story...)

The left feels kinship with lost causes because they share that same doomed feeling of futility and humiliation. The Modern Left knows that with the fall of the Soviet Union, the Capitalization of China, dtirrings of successful modernization in India, Mexico and much of the old Soviet block and the defection of the best minds (Hitchens, Podhertz, Kristol, et al) they are no longer the “Modern Left”, they are merely “What’s Left”. It has never been more apparent that their ideas are mawkish, cheap and unworkable.

Freedom of thought... while we still have it...

Let me begin by saying I love immigrants!

I myself am from an immigrant family. (most of us are)

However, I stand beside myself seeing this spew of hate of our government... our laws?

I see the power in numbers, the power of voice. I have a few points to make, a few questions to raise?

Living in the freest nation in the history of the world!
If we as human beings, as Americans (and we welcome all)
want to keep this flame of freedom alive, must we not protect it, and not let it be smothered by a rush of ILLEGAL immigrants from any border? What about all the immigrants from all over the world who go through the system?

Are we not cheating those who truly believe in the American Dream, a dream of freedom, rule of law, justice for all?!
(not selective justice for some)

Again I feel that immigrants make this society stronger, better, and add to the cultural fabric of our society. I only wonder, I am amazed at the many who voice the distaste in our governments laws, voice their freedom of speech, their right to free associate in this country and yet refuse to do so in their country of origin?

People make change! It seems easy to bitch... Hard to act...

I am amazed at how unified and vocal people are around change in this country, and how silent people are in other nations.

Yes, we have a wonderful system of civil liberties and freedom, but it was paid for by blood!

I fear that those who raise their voice in freedom of voice, have no will to pay for it in blood.

The paradox comes when no one is willing to pay in blood, then all voices of freedom will be silent.

If people wield so much power in numbers, why has a nation not risen to dwarf the United States?

Governments bitch, diplomats complain, leaders point out injustice... (fine) DO BETTER!

Show the United States how it done!

Revolt and show the US how bad we are, by example! (until then please...)

I will be the first to move to a more free society if it ever arises, im not holding my breath.

A possible solution to the moonbat/media/illegal alien problem occurred to me while I was perusing these pics: Communism.

Yes, that's right. I think we should all get boned up on Marxist-Leninist theory and the Dialectic and form our own communist party, the Commmunist Party of the Republic.
This would be basically Stalinist. In contrast to the Trotskyites who inform most of what passes for the left these days, this would have a high tolerance for free enterprise. We would benefit from the mistakes of the past of course and
try to get by without the unfortunate penchant for mass murder and other unpleasantness that characterized earlier Stalinist efforts at a progressive state.

As commies we would have a special license from the media establishment to advocate all sorts of otherwise unacceptable and politically incorrect positions, such as the mass deportation of illegals, the liberation of Iraq and, later, Cuba. (Marx himself endorsed the US conquest of Mexico in the 1840s and was seriously disappointed that it wasn't permanent).
We could also make a major push to affirm and expand the right of the people to keep and bear arms (libs would see this as a whole different ballgame if it were prescribed by nominal Reds).

It would also be easier for us to confiscate the assets of capitalist pigs who collaborate with Islamic fascists, Mexican invaders, or Chinese revanchists. The commisariat of nationalized McDonald's franchises would compete with a separate commisariat of Burger King, for example.

The main benefit would be the opportunity to get rid of sadly broken tools like the ones on display in Union Square.
The idea of a Rocky Mountain gulag for them is kind of hackneyed, though. A friend of mine suggested Martha's Vineyard instead. It is secure, has lots of room for slave labor industries, and we wouldn't have to transport the Kennedys very far.

and then for these moonbats to call it an Apartheid Wall.

Nothing like using a charged term "Apartheid wall" whose meaning has absolutely nothing to do with the situation. The Apartheid was about separate rights for whites and blacks in Africa. The U.S. is a country for crying out loud. Like all countries, we have borders. One crosses the border, and one is in a different country.

It's as if the pro open borders people think that the U.S., Mexico, and everything south of it is already one big country. Like they can just will it to be. How dare we try to put up an "aparthied wall" to keep some people of the one big country separate from others.

They use a charged term like "Apartheid wall" because it invokes emotion in people who don't even know what it means but it sounds really bad.

"USians"? Please, your appeal for the poor migrant workers lost its entire impact on me with your refusal to use the term "American."

I'm sorry you had to wait so long for your

your standard of living and civil rights.

Yeah, you should have flown to Mexico, paid a Coyote money and sneak into this country. Then on May Day, you can march in the streets, wave you nation-of-origin's flag and arrogantly demand legalization. Great fucking advice, Ocelot.

And speaking of standard of living and civil rights, why don't these Third Worlders spend their time changing the backward natures of their "glorious" nations back at home? No, I guess living with 15 other illegal aliens in a small rental house or apartment and washing dishes in the States and/or undercutting construction jobs for USians, er, Americans and sending money home is far easier, for them and for the corrupt elites at home.

They pay taxes

I pay taxes, too. And I have a legitimate social security number, unlike the poor, poor illegal aliens, who use social security numbers that don't belong to them.

Legal immigrant here also. Cost me lots of money and waiting time so yeh, these illegals REALLY PISS ME OFF TOO! The laws about being granted automatic citizenship because a person is born here need to be changed. It needs to be changed so that if the parent(s)is/are illegal, so is the kid.

You are an example of the kind of immigrants that make our country better and stronger. We have enough usable land left to probably fit 10 times more houses on. There is a difference however, in the number of people we can fit into the U.S. and the number of people we can handle that are more of a drain to our overall tax base than a benefit to it. We need for new immigrants to be able to at minimum be self-sufficient and able to take care of their own family members they either bring with them or give birth to.

If those coming in can't pay enough taxes to atleast offset the amount of infrastructure and resources they and their family members they bring in use, then they are more of a drain than a benefit. Ideally, we need people coming in that will not only be self-sufficient but that can pay enough taxes to help support others. We already have a huge number of people on social welfare programs, in prison, etc..and the boomers going on SS is going to be painful to the taxpayers. This is why we need to be bringing in people that add to the tax base overall, rather than drain it.

Sure, bring in 10 times more people than we have already because we probably have the land to fit them in. That doesn't mean we have 10 times the resources such as oil and infrastructure such as roadways. When the price of gas goes up due to increased demand from increased population and new roads and such need to be built, then we need those that add to the tax base overall rather than drain it.

indirectly because whomever pays them has

If the illegal expense in not deductible, then how is the employer paying income tax for that illegal employee? The employer would not be paying SS taxes, disability insurance, or any other taxes because it's all under the radar.

As far as sales taxes, there is no way that a couple making minimum wage can pay enough sales taxes to offsett the amount of infrastructure and resources they are using. I lived and worked in a border town for 7 years and there is no way that those illegals were paying enough in sales taxes to offset the cost of their use of the hospitals alone much less the cost of education, public housing, and "the lonestar card" which is for free groceries.

She was an ignorant tool of the left, sucking up whatever propaganda they feed her.

About twenty years ago, I was on the way to visit some friends in Washington DC, when I passed through some kind of left-wing rally on the Mall. I don't remember whether it was "No Nukes" or "Workers Rights" or whatever, but the whole moteley crew coalition was out in force. Some guy from the American Indian Movement got up on stage- I expected a rant against US/Indian treaty violations or somwthing similar- instead, the guy used his ENTIRE time at the mike to rant against Israel and for the Arabs.

At first, it made no sense to me that a guy with an obvious issue would ignore it in favor of something totally irrelevant, but then I realized that he was paying his dues to the left.

You want to be a member of their coalition and get their goodies and resources, you bash Israel as the price of admission.

what i want to know is does my illegal european citizen friend get automatic legal statis as well? Or is this race based bias?

As long as the Culture of Incumbancy rules American politics, the issue of immigration will continue to have a race bias. The birth rate among Latinos, in particular, means that any immigration reform (read: Amnesty) will be all about Latinos. For an ambitious Latino politician (Villagairosa, Guttierrez: heck, I wouldn't be surprised to hear Obama claim to be Latino!) it's a way of setting up a New World Order: one where preferences towards Latinos will be the norm.

Nothing better to wake up in the morning in the freezing apartment and prepare a cup of fake coffee made from anything but coffee beans, spread a watery butter on your bread and run through the door to catch the overloaded bus, who instead of the scheduled 15 minutes is coming every hour.

Joyously enter the factory gate, happy to work for something owned by the State in name, but by Party bureaucracy in effect, building an expensive but defective product nobody wants to buy but the State. Or to enter the university gate, where teachers check your hair length and later check your political knowledge of Marx & Engels dogma, sex/smoke/pot/drink/freedom of association being putrid capitalist habits.

In the lunch break, enthusiastic people listen to the latest political speech of the Big Party Guy, speech which has an uncanny resemblance with the last day/week/year/decade speech... at the end of the day, back in the overcrowded bus, enjoying the smell of your fellow comrades.

Back home, the hot water is cut again, occasionally the power goes down to save electricity for the industry, the heating is down because the State is busy pursuing the Socialist Way. TV is on, just two hours of show per day from the only TV channel in the country, broadcasting the latest political speech of the Big Party Guy, speech which has an uncanny resemblance with the last day/week/year/decade speech...

Tomorrow is a new day, a Glorious day for the working class allied with the intellectuals and peasants. Nothing better to wake up in the morning in the freezing apartment and ...

/it's not 1984, the book. It's 1984 Romania. UGLY, STUPID, IMBECILE WESTERN MOONBATS.. you have no idea.

I know this is basically a dead post but I had a very unpleasant encounter today with a La Raza type while grocery shopping and had to vent somewhere...

They aren't going to take over this country they already have. If you don't think so visit the southwest--it's changed pretty dramatically in the last 10 years.

And it's nice to know that a major American employer, Home Depot, is partnering with the likes of La Raza to make sure that they are first in line for jobs.

#258 Occasional Reader:

Sounds like you've been doing a lot of reading! Wonderful post! Radicals reek with hypocrisy. On an emotional level, I almost wish their self-loathing would intensify to the point they did themselves in.
