-RetweetOur Friends the Saudis: 'Islamophobia the Worst Form of Terrorism'

Wed, May 16, 2007 at 9:11:09 pm PDT

Mental illness on a grand scale, brought to you by the despots and terror supporters of the Organization of the Islamic Conference: ‘Islamophobia Worst Form of Terrorism’.

ISLAMABAD, 17 May 2007 — Foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) yesterday expressed grave concern at the rising tide of discrimination and intolerance against Muslims, especially in Europe and North America. “It is something that has assumed xenophobic proportions,” they said in unison.

Speaking at a special brainstorming session on the sidelines of the 34th Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM), the foreign ministers termed Islamophobia the worst form of terrorism and called for practical steps to counter it.

The ministers described Islamophobia as a deliberate defamation of Islam and discrimination and intolerance against Muslims. “This campaign of calumny against Muslims resulted in the publication of the blasphemous cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a Danish newspaper and the issuance of the inflammatory statement by Pope Benedict XVI,” they said. During a speech in Germany last year, the Pope quoted a 14th Century Christian emperor who said the Prophet had brought the world only “evil and inhuman” things. The Pope’s remarks aroused the anger of the whole Islamic world.

“The increasingly negative political and media discourse targeting Muslims and Islam in the United States and Europe has made things all the more difficult,” the foreign ministers said. “Islamophobia became a source of concern, especially after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, but the phenomenon was already there in Western societies in one form or the other,” they pointed out. “It gained further momentum after the Madrid and London bombings. The killing of Dutch film director Theo van Gogh in 2004 was used in a wicked manner by certain quarters to stir up a frenzy against Muslims,” the ministers pointed out. Van Gogh had made a controversial film about Muslim culture.

The OIC foreign ministers deplored the misrepresentation in the Western media of Islam and Muslims in the context of terrorism. “The linkage of terrorists and extremists with Islam in a generalized manner is unacceptable,” they said. “This is further inciting negative sentiments and hatred in the West against Muslims,” they said. The ministers also pointed out that whenever the issue of Islamophobia was discussed in international forums, the Western bloc, particularly some members of the European Union, tried to avoid discussing the core issue and instead diverted the attention from their region to the situation of non-Muslims and human rights in the OIC member states.

The foreign ministers said prejudices against Islam were not helping the situation. “Because of Islamophobia, millions of Muslims in the Western countries, many of whom were already underprivileged in their societies for a variety of reasons, are further alienated and targeted by hatred and discrimination.”

I think that a religion that promises to destroy any people that are not a part of it is the "worst form of terrorism".

P.S I'm talking about Islam

Just wanted to say it out loud

2 MikeySDCA  Wed, May 16, 2007 9:14:31pm

Certainly. Islamophobic Christians have been flying airplanes into buildings in Riyadh on a regular basis.

Are these people constitutionally incapable of distinguishing between cause and effect?

I thought Muslims in America were the most educated and wealthiest minority. At least that's what a Muslim I was talking to told me.

Huh.

Well, do tell.

Maybe if there were a few less threats, bombs, beheadings, kidnappings and attacks by Muslim terrorists, I might work up something approaching empathy.

Sheesh! and Spit!

15 stuiec  Wed, May 16, 2007 9:24:58pm

For them, the pain of being labeled fanatic terrorists or having to endure insults to their Prophet is far worse than the pain, for us, of having friends and loved ones ripped apart by suicide bombs. It's just our ethnocentrism and bigotry that makes our pain seem greater than theirs.

Islamophobia goes up after terrorist attacks, hmmm.
Islamophobia...goes up...after terrorist attacks.

The solution, OIC, just might be to stop preaching "slay the unbelievers", thus the motivation for terrorist attacks might go down and islamophobia might subside. Just a thought.

Saudi Arabia's wealth has meant that this misogynistic cult is now the most belligerent factor in any International context. It's oil has put a veil over the eyes all Western Civilization. NOUN:

1. A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.
2. A strong fear, dislike, or aversion.

Fearing radical islam is not irrational or abnormal so definition number 1 does not apply.

But according to definition number 2, you can count me in as an islamophobe.

OT here, but just wanted to bring a point up about Sullivan. The man has really just gone completely batty. He seems to be trying to convince the world that he was ALWAYS a pacifist in the Ron Paul mode. After all, according to him, this is the TRUE conservative position. Remember, Taft was a non-interventionist!

There's only one itsy bitsy problem with the logic: Sullivan was always the war's biggest cheerleader. Some of his statements are downright bloodthirsty if you go back and check his archives. (i'm sure LGF readers are well aware of them) Make no mistake about it, I supported the war back then and still do. I just can't stand the Monday morning quarterbacks who jump ship because the whole crowd isn't cheering for them.

I think Sullivan is truly going mad about the gay marriage thing. I think hes trying to convince himself (surely not us unless he thinks we're incapable of using Google) that he was never in favor the war to begin with. Perhaps he is seeking penance from the Beltway crowd, desperate to be invited to their cocktail parties once again. Because, you know, the people who launched the war are against gay marriage and well, thats frankly unacceptable. Nevermind that the other side would behead him without a second thought. The "Christianists" are the problem.

Sullivan is even worse than the Monday morning quarterback. Sullivan is the fan who claimed they never liked the team that started out ahead but has fallen behind, even though they've got the team shirt on inside out now and has the cap in their back pocket.

Nice try Andrew. But you're not fooling anyone. And now no one wants you as a fan.

“The linkage of terrorists and extremists with Islam in a generalized manner is unacceptable,” they said. “This is further inciting negative sentiments and hatred in the West against Muslims,” they said.

Linkage? The linkage of terrorists and extremists with Islam comes directly from Islam. What a crazy world we live in.

Islamophobia? The mainstream media and non-Mohammaden states should look at the real problem- Islamo-fascism.

As far as cartoons go, those featuring Mohammed can't hold a candle to Daffy Duck, Tom and Jerry, Porky Pig and Elmer Fudd. Mo's a joke for not the kind that can make a go of it in show biz. #29 Phil.:

I wouldn't say "bloodthirsty," but this argument from Sullivan wrapped it all up and put a nice bow on it:

War is an awful thing. But it isn't the most awful thing. No one disputes the evil of Saddam's brutal police state. No one doubts he would get and use weapons of mass destruction if he could. No one can guarantee he would not help Islamist terrorists get exactly those weapons to use against the West or his own regional enemies. No one disputes that the Iraqi people would be better off under almost any other regime than the current one - or that vast numbers of them, including almost every Iraqi exile, endorses a war to remove the tyrant. If we can do so with a minimun of civilian casualties, if we do all we can to encourage democracy in the aftermath, then this war is not only vital for our national security. It is a moral imperative. And those who oppose it without offering any credible moral alternative are not merely wrong and misguided. They are helping to perpetuate a deep and intolerable injustice.

The last line of the story:

The ministers said Muslim think tanks and NGOs in the Western countries should be encouraged and urged to develop closer contacts with their non-Muslim counterparts and to remain engaged in regular contact and dialogue. They felt the international media should be properly cultivated to motivate them to be more responsible in carrying out their responsibilities.

Well stated.

I'm not sure if Bush and his "ilk" have bought into this, but you have described the sick cult of Islam perfectly. Islamists are savages--in the true meaning of the term--i.e. not just some cute little ethnic folk with quaint but charming customs--and the sooner ignorant Westerners understand this, the sooner Western countries will take appropriate action.

What do I mean by appropriate action? Well, that's a topic that should be up for discussion instead of avoided like the Victorians avoid talking about a piano's "legs."

The senate is gonna give illegal aliens amnesty. It looks like opposition is crumbling. The dems cannot convince the majority of Americans to throw away 230+ years of history and culture, so they're going to import so many new citizens that our nation fractures from within, giving them free reign to do as they please.

Two quick points:
1. Only the nation/state can guarantee our rights and freedoms... I don't think we can absorb and assimilate this many people this fast. This will change us forever.
2. I work in construction. If this happens, there will be blood in the streets. The blue collar guys are already furious about this stuff. Hunting parties will be organized. It's gonna get ugly.

Hugh Hewitt was talking about this today as well (the GOP collapse in the Senate).

The thing to do on Thursday is to get on the phone and call Mitch McConnell's and Trent Lott's offices, along with your own Senators, to tell them not to do this. This will be a disaster for the GOP.

They do say that, but ABC had something on a couple of nights ago about how the folks out in the Hamptons on Long Island were all upset about cracking down on illegal immigrants, said they wouldn't be able to afford the swarthy groundskeepers they've been accustomed to.

The "concern" of the Dems for illegals stems from their viewing them as cheap labor they apparently can't do without, their nannies, lawn mowers, any other menial laborers. Charlie Chaplin, an inveterate socialist, had servants at his mansion.

The increasingly negative political and media discourse targeting Muslims and Islam in the United States and Europe has made things all the more difficult,” the foreign ministers said.

The entire article is written that way...what an obvious subtle manipulative piece of junk.

This is a great article, in that the Islamofascists summarize some of their major terror attacks and - without a hint of irony - come to a victimhood conclusion. It reads like a summary from LGF:
1) First a bunch of so-called Muslims commit 9/11
2) then a bunch of Muslims (wait, so-called Muslims) blow up Bali
3) Madrid
4) Theo Van Gogh is assisinated
5) London
6) and let's not even mention the Muslims who were stopped from the Millennium plot to the planes over the Atlantic last summer to the German train explosives that fell through to Ft Dix
7) While we're at it we could talk about the Sudden Jihad Syndromes in the streets of San Francisco, Nashville cabs, UNC, LAX's El Al counter, a Salt Lake City Mall, that Seattle Jewish center, the DC snipers

We renounce those who connect our religion to violence!

I think we're way beyond "islamophobia". The long run (1400 year, and counting) objective of the Islamic empires has been to conquer the entire world, so that they could suck the life from the non-Muslim inhabitants and live comfortably on the tribute so extracted, whether by terrorist attacks, criminal raids, or formal military expeditions.

Like the Democrats, they never figured out that beyond a certain point, people will not continue to put up with it. If they can, they leave for more hospitable surroundings. If they can't, they fight back.

They're both parasites. They both need to be discredited and humiliated. It's not "islamophobia" if we're not afraid and are fighting back. Because of how they behave, it's clearly the case that a useful and productive line of advance is to laugh at them and make light of their pretensions at being civilized, when they and their traditions are clearly so barbaric.

The decent Muslims, like the Christians and Jews who used to live in countries conquered by the Muslims, are clearly in an extremely tenuous situation, and are threatened by the same threats directed against Christians, Jews, Hindus, etc. if they reject the mission of world conquest and enslavement of the enemy.

While we do seem to be making progress, much to discomfort of the islamists and our deranged leftist Democrats, we also must keep up and increase the pressure on our islamist enemies.

The sad thing is, they really believe that crap.

Yep.

According the the Quran, Muslims slaughtering us infidels for "Islamophobia" or hindering in any way the spread of Islam is fully justified.

'Persecution is worse than slaughter"- or "persecution is worse than killing" (Al-Quran; 2:217) goes hand in hand with "fight them until persecution is no more, and all religion is for Allah. (2:193).

According to Muslim logic, "persecution" would cover "Islamophobia" and hindering the spread of Islam by telling the truth about Islam or not converting to Islam.

Islam creates a way of thinking in its followers that truly is of another world.
They are like aliens from another galaxy, come to feed off mankind.

Hamas versus Fatah in full swing:

saw Hamas gunmen going in and out of the building, and they were exchanging fire with Fatah forces. And there has been another battle going on all day at a nearby 12-story building.

My building is across from a Palestinian government complex, and both sides are fighting for control of the area.

Gunmen are taking over rooftops. My apartment is on the top floor of a five-story building and some Fatah fighters tried to force their way in Wednesday morning so they could shoot from my windows, overlooking the government compound. I had an argument with them, and they left.

There have been street battles between Hamas and Fatah before, but there are dangerous new elements this time. Now they are arresting or even shooting people for the way they look.

Well, folks..while we are arguing over Muslims and Ron Paul and whatever else, our f-ing Congress is completely ignoring the will of the people and making their deal with the devil in the form of Amnesty (called the new Immigration Reform Bill). This nation will never be the same.

From Numbers USA...

The amnesty compromise has been reached (at least 95% of it, anyway). Sen. Kennedy (D-Mass.), Sen. Kyl (R-Ariz.) and Pres. Bush have negotiated a grand compromise between those who wanted a massive increase in foreign workers and those who wanted a blanket amnesty for illegal aliens and virtually unlimited family chain migration. Nobody involved represented the American people's interest in immigration reductions.

The first key vote will be next Monday night.

Senators are admitting privately that the bill will increase the number of greencards (for permanent settlement) by 20 million over the next 13 years. Added to the number that will be given out based on current law, that means 30-35 million greencards in just the next 13 years!

To give you an idea of how radically these Senators want to change our nation and communities, consider that there are around 25 million foreign-born now living in this country who have been given green cards over the last 75 years. That number already has overwhelmed and changed thousands of communities.

But the Senate negotiators and Pres. Bush want to raise that number of greencard holders in our communities from 25 million to 60 million in just the next 13 years!

136 uptight  Thu, May 17, 2007 12:35:21am

Hint to Muslims. We don't suffer from Eskimophobia. We don't suffer from Hinduphobia. We don't suffer from Vegetarianphobia.

If want us to stop being "Islamophobic", then STOP BLOW STUFF UP.

Besides - is laudable caution, based on a real threat actually a "phobia"?

Do I suffer from "crossing-the-road-with-my-eyes-shut-o-phobia"?

Is my strangely paranoid caution, every time I see a swarm of hornets, something I need counseling for?

137 mineral  Thu, May 17, 2007 12:35:22am

I noticed this in the "phobia" definition at wikipedia:

Terms indicating prejudice or class discrimination
A number of terms with the suffix -phobia are primarily understood as negative attitudes towards certain categories of people or other things, used in an analogy with the medical usage of the term. Usually these kinds of "phobias" are described as fear, dislike, disapproval, prejudice, hatred, discrimination, or hostility towards the object of the "phobia". Often this attitude is based on prejudices and is a particular case of general xenophobia.

Class discrimination is not always considered a phobia in the clinical sense because it is believed to be only a symptom of other psychological issues, or the result of ignorance, or of political or social beliefs. In other words, unlike clinical phobias, which are usually qualified with disabling fear, class discrimination usually have roots in social relations.

Below are some examples:

Ephebophobia, fear of youth or adolescents
Homophobia, fear or dislike of homosexual people, often used pejoratively to describe a moral objection to homosexuality.
Islamophobia, prejudice against Muslims
Xenophobia, fear or dislike of strangers, aliens, or the unknown, often used to describe nationalistic political beliefs and movements

In the non-clinic sense, the use of the "phobia" epithet is highly selective and seems to guided by political designs.

The "Islamophobia" tag is used by Islamists to stop criticism of their religion.

It is used to make life easier for Jihadists.

An Imam at an airport may shout "Islamophobia", but it is neither clinical fear, not prejudice that causes Muslims to be profiled. It is simply past experiences guiding suspicion and a recognition of the probability that terrorism will come from a Muslim demographic.

It is used to make Islamism - not only "acceptable" - but "protected"

Hatred of white supremacism is seen as a natural reaction to something abhorent, but hatred of Islamic supremacism is branded "Islamophobia".

Gunmen are taking over rooftops. My apartment is on the top floor of a five-story building and some Fatah fighters tried to force their way in Wednesday morning so they could shoot from my windows, overlooking the government compound. I had an argument with them, and they left.

Cleric held in UK offers to help free BBC reporter

A radical Islamist detained in Britain, whose release was demanded by a group claiming the abduction of BBC's Gaza correspondent, has offered to meet the captors, a London-based Islamist organisation said today.

The Islamic Observatory Centre said in a statement it had received a letter from radical Islamic cleric Abu Qatada offering to help gain the release of BBC's Alan Johnston.

Abu Qatada said he was issuing the letter because the "British government has been trying to deal with me in an incorrect manner in the matter of Alan Johnston". He did not elaborate.

Qatar's first lady argues Islam not the root of extremism

In a rare appearance of a female Middle Eastern leader, Qatar's first lady argued Islam has been incorrectly blamed for the rise of extremist violence when the real culprits include poverty, a lack of political freedom and "failed U.S. policies."

Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned told the Los Angeles World Affairs Council Tuesday that societies worldwide were failing to provide jobs, hope and a feeling of greater good for their citizens.

Now that we have this cleared up, can we now deal with those in denial?

US Shuns European Privacy Concerns

While the EU position is largely informed by privacy concerns, the US negotiators are backed by a number of compelling arguments. The foiled terror attack last summer, in which terrorists planned to explode up to 10 trans-Atlantic flights originating in Britain, is seen by the US as only the most recent example of the dangers air traffic still poses. They repeatedly stress the perils represented by thousands of Pakistanis who, equipped with British EU passports, can travel freely wherever they like -- including to a Jihadist training camp in Pakistan and, afterwards, to the US. American authorities say that visa regulations and the sharing of passenger data could close this security loophole.

Good morning! I have about 3 weeks to go.

I admit I'm as close to burn-out as I've ever been. It's not the kids: I adore my students. It's the lack of leadership. (cue violins for self-pity party)

No administrator knows what teachers are really doing. I'm a curriculum dragon, and I cover EVERYTHING. I have tons of papers to check. I'm proud of the work that I do, and I know that should be enough.

However, I can't help but notice that some colleagues do a fraction of the work I do with no repercussions.

Good work is not rewarded; poor work is not noticed. I'll jump through flaming hoops for someone to pat me on the head, but this feeling that no matter how hard I try or how well I do, it doesn't matter to teaching assignments, etc. has worn me out.

Next year I'll just be at one school with a MUCH better atmostphere. I had to give up the change to teach AP English, and that still stings, but I would have had to switch to teaching at that other school all day, and I know I would have lost my soul if not my mind.

200 Shiplord Kirel  Thu, May 17, 2007 3:36:26am

As for goat-humping, I think it is not even a crime under shariah, since noone has ever found three adult male witnesses to testify that the goat didn't consent.

This is like the the convicted bank robber who explains his actions during the last robbery in which he shot a bank guard, saying: "I was only defending myself after the guard pulled a gun on me."

Islamism is the source of the problems, and they have no claim of self-defense.

Ann Coulter

From the news coverage of Falwell's death, I began to suspect his first name was "Whether You Agree With Him or Not."

Even Falwell's fans, such as evangelist Billy Graham and former President Bush, kept throwing in the "We didn't always agree" disclaimer. Did Betty Friedan or Molly Ivins get this many "I didn't always agree with" qualifiers on their deaths? And when I die, if you didn't always agree with me, would you mind keeping it to yourself?

Let me add the Falwell thread at LGF to this list.

That lefty/socialist/commie Johnny Carson recieved more sympathy on his RIP thread here than Falwell.

Good Morning Lizards

Socialized health care is starting to get run up the flag pole again to see if anyone salutes.

Dusting off proposals for universal health care
States experiment while the public waffles on what it's willing to pay for

A reprise may be on the way. Health-care reform that goes beyond incremental tinkering is high on the domestic agenda of the Democratic presidential candidates

As I always say, sooner or later, everything boils down to money. So who is to pay for this?

A majority of Americans support broadening insurance coverage, according to a Harris Interactive/Wall Street Journal Online poll of 2,400 adults released last week. Three out of four favor a variety of methods, including employer mandates, government subsidies for the uninsured and tax credits to help people afford health benefits. But only 26% said they're willing to pay more in taxes to extend coverage to those who don't have it through public programs such as Medicare or Medicaid.

In other words, a majority of Americans favor getting something for free and making somebody else pay for it. Gee, I wonder who the Democrats will have number one on their hit list for that?

Welcome to the new state of Palestine.

With battles raging outside my building and my windows blown out by bullets, I sit in a dark hallway outside my apartment with my wife and baby. It's dangerous inside and outside.

Today I have seen people shot before my eyes, I heard the screams of terrified women and children in a burning building, and I argued with gunmen who wanted to take over my home.

I have seen a lot in my years as a journalist in Gaza, but this is the worst it's been.

Much of the fighting is taking place right here in my neighborhood. I went outside a few times to report, just around the house. I saw a building on fire after Hamas gunmen attacked, and I heard the screams of people who could not get out because of the gun battles.

My building is across from a Palestinian government complex, and both sides are fighting for control of the area. They're taking over rooftops. My apartment is on the top floor of this five-story building. This morning some Fatah gunmen tried to force their way into my apartment so they could shoot from my windows, overlooking the Palestinian government compound. I had an argument with them, and they left.

There have been clashes between Hamas and Fatah before, but there are dangerous new elements this time. Now they are arresting or even shooting people for the way they look. If you have a beard, you might be arrested by Fatah security for looking Islamic. If you have a chain around your neck or on your arm, Hamas gunmen might shoot you because you look secular.

Those that voted for Hamas need to shave and walk down the street naked.

The islamophobia-phobes seem oblivious to what is cause and what is effect.

The resistance to jihadism, both physical violent jihadism and ideological jihadism, arises because of the threat posed by jihadism to our lives and to our liberties.

Why are the Saudis complaining. Just look at their flag and you will see the Shehada in Arabic and under it there is the depiction of a sword. That's jihad.

And the Saudi-Wahhabis have replaced the 5 pillars of Islam with a single pillar unrelated to the 5 pillars -- the pillar of jihad, which they worship as the essence of Islam.

The Saudi-Wahhabi islamophobia-phobes need to look in the mirror to find the source of the trouble they are denouncing.

The problem of junk science By William Rusher

As regular readers know, I seldom review books in these columns, preferring to leave that important job to professional reviewers. But every once in a while a book comes along that illuminates a major political problem so effectively that I cannot resist calling it to the attention of thoughtful readers. That is the case with Tom Bethell's "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Science," recently published by Regnery.

(snip}

So Bethell has written an entire book to expose some of the liberal myths that are forever being foisted on us with the important help of scientists, who are forever laying down the law without ever being effectively challenged by the media.

The current spectacular example, of course, is "global warming," and Bethell addresses it in Chapter 1. All serious proposed remedies for this supposed peril involve cutting down on economic activity. In the case of the United States, Bethell states, the Kyoto protocol (which this country refused to sign) would have required U.S. emissions of so-called "greenhouse gases" to be cut so much that "economic depression would have been the one sure result." That wouldn't bother the world's liberals and socialists much, of course, since they enjoy inconveniencing Uncle Sam. And many scientists (though by no means all) went along.

Sounds like an excellent book Rusher is reviewing...

237 Mambo Bananapatch  Thu, May 17, 2007 4:38:22am
The ministers also pointed out that whenever the issue of Islamophobia was discussed in international forums, the Western bloc, particularly some members of the European Union, tried to avoid discussing the core issue and instead diverted the attention from their region to the situation of non-Muslims and human rights in the OIC member states.

Only WE may be victims. Besides, when we do it, it's, you know, OK.

An operational definition of Islamophobia.

The very real and well substantiated belief that someone from the islamic `faith' will perform some violent act on one or more people, and one or more properties, in order to either punish perceived wrongdoing against other muslims, promote continued violent struggle against unbelievers and anyone they choose to label as unbelievers, or to score some political points with the rest of the seething hating ummah.

Its not `islamophobia' that is terrorism. There may be an ironclad reason why islam is perceived by the general public to include violence against non-believers, as well as other believers. This reason has nothing to do with people's disposition towards islam or muslims.

It may be due to the indisputable fact that muslims kill each other with glee in Iraq. They forcefully promote their vicious intentions. Especially about jews. They deny history, deny anyone but themselves rights to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness.

There is no mystery about why islam is perceived by the masses as nurturing and encouraging violence. The mystery is why they try to deny their legacy.

From M-W:

Main Entry: pho·bia
Pronunciation: 'fO-bE-&
Function: noun
Etymology: -phobia
: an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation

Given that the word "phobia" implies an irrational fear of something, and that it's not irrational to fear practitioners of a "religion" who would like nothing better than to cut of the heads of non-believers with a dull butter knife, I would say that the very word "islamophobia" makes no sense at all...

The proper definition of a phobia includes the element of a neurotic, irrational fear. For example, a grown man sees a harmless spider, breaks out into a cold sweat and runs away whimpering. This is why it makes little sense to me when Westerners affirm proudly their own 'Islamophobia'.

Ham of Hate strikes again, in Tennesse this time:

Mooresburg man jailed after alleged(ly) beating his wife with ham

According to reports, the HCSO was called to the Pearson residence shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Upon their arrival, Suzette Pearson told deputies she and her husband had been arguing about beer money when he "took a block of ham and struck her in the back of the head, leaving a knot and a red mark," the report stated.

David Pearson also allegedly shoved his wife to the floor and threw a kitchen knife at her as she left to call police. He is scheduled to appear before Brand on the latest charges on May 23.

Suzette does not appear to be Muslim so her husband will not face hate crime charges, even though he is also accused of assaulting her with his fist, a coffee table, and a kitchen knife.

In 1786, Thomas Jefferson, then the ambassador to France, and John Adams, then the ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the ambassador to Britain from Tripoli. The Americans asked Adja why his government was hostile to American ships, even though there had been no provocation. The ambassador's response was reported to the Continental Congress:

That it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman [Muslim] who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.[3]

“The government doesn’t understand that its ultimate obligation is to prevent the shelling of Sderot’s homes,” he said, “We can’t allow this situation to persist.”

During a speech at a Likud factional meeting on Thursday, Netanyahu also suggested several steps that the government could take in order to put an end to the Qassam rocket fire in the South.

“The government can do a lot of things to protect its citizens … It can impose a closure on the Gaza Strip, stop providing certain services to the Palestinian Authority such as electricity and water, and temporarily enter Gaza, four or five kilometers in,” Netanyahu said, prior to reports of several IDF tanks entering the city.

Funny story that No Sub thought I should pass along... A good friend of mine works for CBS News in a decently high position. He used to be in charge of sending US video feeds to Europe for their 'news' services. He used to tell me that all they were interested in seeing were feeds that made Americans look dumb, doing stupid things, making asses of themselves, etc. Glad to see they were really looking to enhance our image among the Euroweenies...

“Because of Islamophobia, millions of Muslims in the Western countries, many of whom were already underprivileged in their societies for a variety of reasons, are further alienated and targeted by hatred and discrimination.”

Meanwhile in Gaza:

A total of 22 people were killed on Wednesday, as gunfire and explosions raged across Gaza City in the most widespread fighting in nearly a year of clashes between Hamas and Fatah. A total of 46 people have been killed in this week’s fighting, according to Palestinian officials.

Raging street battles have turned the densely populated seaside city into a war zone, putting terrified civilians increasingly at risk. During the fighting, masked gunmen took over otherwise deserted streets, trapping frightening residents in their homes.

Here's a very curious story out of Turkey:

British pilot killed in Turkish plane crash

A British pilot and his Pakistani passenger were killed when their small two-seater plane crashed in northern Turkey, the local governor said today.

Turkish press named the British pilot as Michael Newman, 53, and his passenger as Zaka Ulab Bhamgoo, also 53.

The Sky Arrow 650T plane, which was on route to Iran, went missing on Sunday after taking off from Trabzon airport in northern Turkey.

Authorities located the plane today in a mountainous area near the town of Koprubasi in Trabzon province, Gov. Nuri Okutan said.

Both men were found dead, Okutan said. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

What's so curious about a plane crash? A Pakistani newsite, the passneger is described as a "retired" Brigadier more than 6,500 hours of flying experience.

And a Turkish website has posted pictures of headline from Turkish newspapers making allegation of some sort of "nuclear connection" to the crash. The alleged destination of the plane was Tabriz, in northwest Iran. There is a nuclear engineering research center in Tabriz.

Hmmm...

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. The Palestinian civil war watch continues, and there's plenty of news and reports on that front. My update is here.

Most interesting is the fact that the Israelis stopped a plot to assassinate Olmert and members of the Knesset.

Palestinian Gaza resident, Massab Bashir, is suspected of planning the assassination of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and other Knesset members, according to an indictment filed against him on Thursday.

Shin Bet and police forces arrested the 25-year-old on 19 April, when he made his latest trip into Israel.

After his arrest in Jerusalem, Bashir confessed to planning the attacks and taking advantage of the entry permit given him for his work with the “Doctors Without Borders” humanitarian organization.

The suspect admitted entering Israel in order to collect personal information on senior officials with the intention of assassinating them. He also said he was collaborating with members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

How was he able to get around checkpoints? He was taking advantage of his permits provided by Doctors without Borders.

The disgusting Christopher Hitchens blames a sinister alliance between Christians and Jewish fanatics for the failure of the so-called "peace process"...

I'm going to repeat what I said before about the Israeli question. It's very important. Jerry Falwell kept saying to his own crowd, yes, you have got to like the Jews, because they can make more money in 10 minutes than you can make in a lifetime. He was always full, as his friends Robertson and Graham are and were, of anti- Semitic innuendo.

Yet, in the most base and hypocritical way, he encouraged the worst elements among Jewry. He got Menachem Begin to give him the Jabotinsky Medal, celebrating an alliance between Christian fundamentalism and Jewish fanaticism that has ruined the chances for peace in the Middle East.

The fact that Hitch would make this statement as Gaza implodes is laughable. Christopher Hitchens is and always will be a Palestinian apologist.

Foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) yesterday expressed grave concern at the rising tide of discrimination and intolerance against Muslims, especially in Europe and North America. “It is something that has assumed xenophobic proportions,” they said in unison.

Well, based on their desire to kill Americans and Jews, I would guess they would have a good handle on hate approaching xenophobic proportions...

Ergo, I conclude that opposition to and fear of Islam is not only warrented, but prudent.

Gore's snorefest...
The Assault on Reason

...we Americans must resolve to repair the systemic decay of the public forum. We must create new ways to engage in a genuine and not manipulative conversation about our future. We must stop tolerating the rejection and distortion of science. We must insist on an end to the cynical use of pseudo-studies known to be false for the purpose of intentionally clouding the public's ability to discern the truth. Americans in both parties should insist on the re-establishment of respect for the rule of reason.

Now that's an inconvenient truth. The main reason I see for the lack of reasoned discourse is the conspiracy theorists on the left; Stolen elections, 911 Truth, Rovian plots, Michael Moore, global warming, etc.
Gore should worry more about getting his side of the isle in shape then worry about the level of public discourse.

Thursday's bit o' useless information: (disclaimer:nonverified)

In the late 1700s, many houses consisted of a large room with only one chair. Commonly, a long wide board folded down from the wall, and was used for dining. The "head of the household" always sat in the chair while everyone else ate sitting on the floor Occasionally a guest, who was usually a man, would be invited to sit in this chair during a meal. To sit in the chair meant you were important and in charge. They called the one sitting in the chair the "chair man." Today in business, we use the expression or title "Chairman" or "Chairman of the Board."

Hey Lance (and other fellow white male oppressors), it looks like we may be on our way to becoming a protected class after all!

Demographic Racial Gap

The Census Bureau estimated yesterday that from July 1, 2005, to July 1, 2006, the nation’s minority population grew to 100.7 million from 98.3 million; that is about one in three of all Americans. The new figures also suggest that many states are growing more diverse as minorities disperse.

As a result of immigration and higher birthrates among many newcomers, the number of Hispanics grew by 3.4 percent nationwide and Asians by 3.2 percent. Meanwhile, the black population rose by 1.3 percent, and that of non-Hispanic whites by 0.3 percent. (The number of American Indians and Alaska Natives increased by 1 percent, and Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders by 1.7 percent.)

More than 20 percent of children in the United States either are foreign-born or have a parent who was born abroad. Nearly half the children under age 5 are Hispanic, black or Asian.

ANALYSIS: "Alternative Family" Killing Europe?
iMAPP Marriage News/WND
[Link: www.worldnetdaily.com...]

WARSAW - In the late 1960s, warnings of a "population" bomb that would doom Earth's inhabitants spawned movements of fervent activists prone to wag a finger at strolling couples with multiple offspring in tow.

Nearly 40 years later, crunching the demographic numbers reveals a looming catastrophe - but of the completely opposite kind, some contend.

Conveyors of a major world gathering commencing today in the Polish capital argue Europe - the progenitor of Western civilization - is on a steep population decline that will make the continent increasingly hard to recognize in the coming decades.

With plunging birthrates coinciding with rejection of the "natural family" that for millennia has anchored cultures worldwide, a "demographic winter" is descending over Europe, contends Allan C. Carlson, founder and international secretary of the World Congress of Families, hosting more than 3,500 delegates from 75 nations through Sunday.

Prague was the site of the first congress in 1997, followed by Geneva in 1999 and Mexico City in 2004. "If Europe is lost to demographic winter and radical secularism, much of the world will go with it," says Carlson and the international team that planned the event.

Meanwhile, into the vacuum comes a flood of Muslim immigrants led by many on a mission to spread the rule of Islam over the planet, writes Mark Steyn in his book "America Alone."

The result already is becoming clear, Steyn insists: "Europe will be semi-Islamic in its politico-culture character within a generation."

In his book, Steyn warns one of the fastest demographic evolutions in history already is making our views of European outdated.

While it takes a fertility rate of at least 2.1 for a nation to replenish itself, countries known for big families, such as Greece and Spain, have fertility rates of 1.2 and 1.1 respectively.

By 2050, Steyn says, 60 percent of Italians, for example, will have no brothers, no sisters, cousins, no aunts, no uncles...

Ban Ki-moon vows to boost cooperation with Organization of Islamic Conference
15 May 2007 – Praising the cooperative relationship between the United Nations and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today anticipated strengthening these ties in the years ahead.

In a message to the OIC Ministerial Conference meeting in Islamabad, Mr. Ban said the gathering comes at a crucial juncture. “Instability in Islamic States – from Afghanistan and Iraq to Sudan and Somalia – carries profound implications for international peace and security,” he said, calling for a sustained and collective response.

“The OIC, as a leading multilateral institution, is well placed to play a leading role in addressing all these challenges,” said Mr. Ban. “I would especially like to commend the excellent cooperation between the Untied Nations and the OIC.”

The Secretary-General said engagement between the two on matters of peace and security “holds tremendous promise,” while joint UN-OIC economic, cultural and social projects are “already yielding significant dividends” in a number of countries.

Khan is the first Muslim to take command of an operational aviation squadron in the U.S. Navy.

NY Lizards:
From ProtestWarrior

URGENT - Counter Protest at TIMES SQUARE 5/19/07

WHEN:Saturday, May 19, 2007
TIME: Noon to 2pm.

The forces of the Left wing have decided to make a mockery of every American serviceman or woman this Saturday at Times Square. They
have decided to perform street theater decrying the supposed torture of inmates at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility at a time when three brave American servicemen are in the hands of Islamic terrorists in Iraq. They have decided to put on this travesty at the recruiting station where we will be holding a Support the Troops rally that day. They have effectively declared war on the United States, our Military, and the Gathering of Eagles organization. They have no concern for OUR soldiers who are likely being tortured, mutilated and beheaded even as I write this, This is an OUTRAGE, this is TREASON, this has got to be smothered by a display of patriotism so great that even the news media cannot reasonably assert that they are the majority in this country.

We need every one of you to contact your friends, family and neighbors and turn out at Times Square to ridicule these leftist morons. Spread the word and forward this alert to everyone you know.

If their actions in the face of the manifest results of ISLAMIC captivity for our troops does not motivate you, if your blood does not boil at the thought that these pissants will be featured on the evening news, if you care not a whit that OUR men and women are jeopardized by their seditious behavior, if something else is more important than standing up for OUR soldiers, then email me to be removed from the GOE email list because you have already surrendered.

If, however, you know that we need to support our troops who daily place their lives on the line to protect our freedom. If you know that their many sacrifices should be honored and praised. If you know that the enemy is both foreign and domestic. If you know that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Then turn out with your flags and pro-troop signs and banners. This is NOT a drill. We need you NOW!

Where: Times Square Recruiting Center, traffic island at 43rd
Street between Broadway and 7th Ave.
When: Saturday, May 19, 2007, Noon to 2pm or whatever it takes to rout the opposition.

Foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) yesterday expressed grave concern at the rising tide of discrimination and intolerance against Muslims, especially in Europe and North America. “It is something that has assumed xenophobic proportions,” they said in unison.

There is no rising tide. It's more an ebb tide.

Paleocentric: 1 - The art of being an undeserved self-appointed global victim, despite the rest of the world's very real problems and joys coupled with the fact that you have long since squandered any sympathy for your cause by your own actions.
2 - The overwhelming desire to drag the whole world down with you.

From Mark Steyn's mailbox, a modest proposal for fighting Global Warming™:

ELIMINATE THE ANIMALS
Reading the article about John Guillebaud in your column got me thinking about some extra tips that could be employed to help reduce this irritating nemesis called Carbon Dioxide. These are very green solutions that were practised for millennia before the evil industrial revolution. This is just a sample:

1) Commence a massive international (sorry a multi-national it sounds more hip) hunt for whales, seal and walruses. Those fat bastards emit lots of carbon dioxide. They are oxygen pigs and should find a planet of their own to live on.

2) Swear off vegetarianism and increase meat consumption worldwide until we have reduced the worldwide population of cows, sheep, pigs, poultry, fish, hippopotamuses and whatever else people are eating out there by four fifths. With all of those animals gone the carbon dioxide nemesis will be reeling.

3) Commence hunt for bears, giraffes, caribou, foxes, wild cats, alligators and many other species. Using their skins for clothing will reduce our reliance on synthetic materials. This means less of a need to drill for oil. Also eliminating these animals helps in the war against carbon dioxide.

#452 buck:

Fighting between Fatah and Hamas loyalists leads to fear of coup,

There's no fear of a coup - there's no functional government in place now and it's a civil war that Fatah and Hamas are engaged in. With Hamas outmanning and outgunning Fatah in Gaza, Gaza is Hamas's to lose. The wildcard is what Israel will do - will they go after both Fatah and Hamas, or focus on Hamas in their military operations that are underway at present. Airstrikes have hit cars (carbeques to be posted shortly), trailers, and buildings housing Hamas thugs. Tanks are also entering Gaza, so we'll see what the Israelis are up to shortly.

The rocket attacks against Israel also continue, so it will be interesting to see whether the Israelis are able to put down the rocket attacks, or will they settle for something less than the elimination of the terror threat. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I just saw this in Americanthinker after I posted my comment.

[Link: www.americanthinker.com...]

In 1994, Tennessee implemented managed care in its Medicaid program and used savings anticipated from the switch to expand insurance coverage to the uninsured and uninsurable adults and children. Since then, the state has faced financial peril and numerous unsuccessful attempts to recover the state's runaway health care system. State spending accelerated from $2.5 billion in 1995 to $8 billion in 2004 on TennCare alone.

Predictably, the market is already beginning to fix the problem on its own. If left alone the problem should resolve itself within 5 years or so.

Almost all companies are changing thier healthcare plans to make people more cost effective in their healthcare spending.

I think the company I work for is going to be changing to a system that allots a certain amount of $$ a year for healthcare based on group averages with the unused portion rolling over every year. So if you dont use all your money one year you have more the next. It also has a limit on out of pocket costs for the year so you are protected from catastrophic expenses.

We'll see how it works. We know single payer government run system will be a disastor.

I'll see those proposals and raise you. I hearby call on all presidential candidates abide by a 5 point plan - especially if they've accepted the Goracle's global warming mantra:

1) Swear off private jets. Those do nothing but spew forth COx, the greenhouse gas that the Goracle says causes global warming.

2) Use telecommuting and teleconferences instead of face to face meetings - reach more people with less money involved. It's a win-win.

3) Start your campaign for 2008 in 2008. Think of the trees you'll save by not having to fly around the country to shore up your 3% support.

4) Carpool to the next debate. Ron Paul gets to be in the bitch seat (middle back seat). I'd suggest he be put on the roof rack, but that would hurt the gas mileage too much.

5) In the interests of saving the environment, I've cut the list from five down to four - your campaigns should do the same. Cut the race from 10 candidates to 9. Think of all the COx saved!

/if you don't get the humor, you haven't been paying attention.

Does anyone remember Khaled al-Masri?

Khaled al-Masri, a Kuwait-born German citizen who is suing the CIA for allegedly spiriting him to Afghanistan for interrogation, has said he visited the center several times before he was snatched.

Al-Masri said he was taken while trying to enter Macedonia on New Year’s Eve 2003 and flown to Afghanistan, where he was subjected to “torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment” during five months in captivity, according to a lawsuit filed in a Virginia federal court.

Now al-Masri has been arrested for arson. He is accused to have tried to burn down a whole sale market in the German city of Neu Ulm. The average is about Euro 500,000.

Source only in German

I bet we will soon hear that he was forced to this b´cause of what the Americans had done to him.

from the article I just linked to:

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a town hall-style meeting at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, located at Wilshire Boulevard and Berendo Street, followed at 6 p.m. by a 10-block procession to MacArthur Park, where organizers will hold a candlelight vigil and a series of performances.

"The LAPD denied our community both a political and physical space to nonviolently claim our rights to legalization for all undocumented immigrants and a fair immigration reform for the country," said the event's organizer, Mexican American Political Association President Nativo Lopez. "Political leaders and organizations throughout the country stand solidly with us."

Why do you need a vigil? no one died, some people got some bruises.

"nonviolently claim our rights to legalization for all undocument immigrants" . . . what rights do ILLEGAL immigrants have? none. And it isn't nonviolent if you're chucking glass bottles at cops. Stop trying to rewrite both history and the constitution

Is "Torture" the New Gay Marriage?

Court-imposed gay marriage was a political boost for the GOP in 2004. People across the country were mortally offended by it, and the Dems were unable to craft a politically-viable position on it. "Enhanced interrogation" could be a similar issue for the GOP in '08.

I can see the ad now... The GOP nominee (who will, of course, be Fred Thompson) explains the interrogation of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in substantial detail. He elaborates on the intel gathered and the lives saved by that intel. Then looks straight into the camera and says something along the lines of:
"Friends, a free nation doesn't torture people--but what we did to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed wasn't "torture" to anyone but hyperactive left-wing ACLU lawyers. I'm gonna tell you right now that none of the techniques we used on this thug should ever be off the table when American lives are at stake. And under my administration, they won't be."
Don't try to tell me that won't sell like hotcakes in Ohio.

Welcome to California. Consider this:

Alvarado said authorities have to assure illegal immigrants who have been crime victims that "immigration status will be irrelevant."
Venegas said law-enforcement officials cannot take immigration status into account when someone has been the victim of a crime.
"This is a criminal matter. This is something I intend to follow to the very end," he said.

Uh, just one of the criminal matters, not both? Okay, can I walk into the local police department and demand that they investigate me being robbed of my crystal meth? And if they find it, can I demand that they return it?
Oh, never mind.

two targets.

one is to 'warm up' and the rounds will all be in the circle, but some may be in the 7 or 8 point rings (at 7 yards)

the second target (the last 50 rounds or so) will shoot out the 10 and 9 rings.

PR.com: "Do you find that the climate of the adult industry changes when there is a Republican administration versus Democratic?"

Jenna Jameson: "Absolutely. The Clinton administration was the best years for the adult industry and I wish that Clinton would run again. I would love to have him back in office. I would love to have Al Gore in office. When Republicans are in office, the problem is, a lot of times they try to put their crosshairs on the adult industry, to make a point. It's sad, when there are so many different things that are going on in the world: war, and people are dying of genocide...I look forward to another Democrat being in office. It just makes the climate so much better for us, and I know that once all our troops come home, things are going to be better and I think that getting Bush out of office is the most important thing right now."

It's good to be famous...

snip:

The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

I imagine by "Special Needs" they don't meen handicapped, but "Rich and Spoiled"

snip:

Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.

Good Behavior... like breaking the terms of probation, continuing to drive without a license after the court case was over, smoking pot... you know... good behavior.

I mean... she showed up to court! How nice of her! (She was late for court though... 45 minutes or so... clearly good behavior)

Of course, more of her good behavior is why she's in jail to begin with:

The 26-year-old socialite was sentenced to jail this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.

If I engaged in such good behavior, could I get half the jail time, and get to go to a special lockup?

If I ever get everything in order I'm going to bring all of you to Montana to see why I call the place Heaven's Gate.
I susvived the snow in the mtns. and the spring run off in the valley.

After I sold the house in NY I added another 1100acres to the ranch . Now I abut federal land on 3 sides and I'm up against one of the largest cattle ranches in the state on the other.
I affords a great deal of privacy and freedom.

I'm running a herd of 40 Bison in the second valley over from the lodge. It is approx. 3 miles as the crow flies .

It is amazing how expensive a good bull bison is. If all works out and I don't lose too many head to the weather or predators I should turn a good profit from the calves next spring.

I'll stay in contact .

Now you know full well that the Sooners beat Mizzou every year. I was drunk at Farout Field when Billy Simms ran up ungodly rushing totals and his team racked up 72 points. I was also drunk ON the field when we upset OU in the early eighties (Bradley, Wilder, Ellis, Edelman, etc.). I used to have a piece of the goal post from that game but sadly my mother mistook it for junk and tossed it.

Some day soon, if they keep our present coach long enough I think the games will become more challenging for y'all.

not so much class envy, just sounds a bit arrogant to me to have a rich person say that if I'm not doing what I love to do, I need to go and do what I love to do.

doing what I love to do doesn't pay bills.

Now, if I didn't have to worry about bills because what I loved to do pulled in millions, like being a famous talk show radio host, then I could do just that.

people don't LOVE being a garbage man, or cleaning the inside of nuclear power plants, or mopping up puke at a school... but those jobs still need to be done.

people don't LOVE being a garbage man, or cleaning the inside of nuclear power plants, or mopping up puke at a school... but those jobs still need to be done.

I know what you are saying but, I would hope that those folks do love their jobs in the sense that it finances the rest of their lives. It brings in the money for food/clothes/etc. Even if they would rather be doing something else for a living, hopefully they have enough pride in what they are doing to do it to the best of their ability. Some might construe that as "doing what they love" or perhaps closer to the point "loving what they do". All that being said, I'd bet that the most successful people (not necessarily the wealthiest people) truly do love what they do.

/random thoughts

656 LanceKates  Thu, May 17, 2007 11:47:00am

655 NMM

eh, I don't know if that is Rush's point, and I've heard his point too, always from very rich people.

Though Rush was saying it altruistically... the others I hear say it normally say it like this:

"I have millions of dollars doing what I love to do! Do you want to have millions like me doing what you love to do? Send me 50 bucks and I'll send you my special kit to help you make millions doing what you love!"

the kit generally contains a 'pump you up pamphlet' filled with 'true stories' of people who got rich making wigets in their home and selling them at craft fairs... and now they go on big vacations all the time!

One gets rich by spending less than they make.

If they don't make enough to do that, they need to spend less or work more.

657 LanceKates  Thu, May 17, 2007 11:52:58am

Hudson County NJ to introduce a "Kids Cafe" to serve free meals 5 days a week to students of low income families.

The family elects to have the kids stay at school and they have dinner.

meals said to be 'nutritious and culturally diverse'

I thought that schools were needing more money, not that they had enough to create dinner programs.

heck, the students can just be taken from the family and become wards of the state... why bother having parents at all?

658 newmelleman  Thu, May 17, 2007 11:54:24am

In the case of the folks who say...

"I have millions of dollars doing what I love to do! Do you want to have millions like me doing what you love to do? Send me 50 bucks and I'll send you my special kit to help you make millions doing what you love!"

1) Thats marketing schtick and its unbelieveable how many folks succomb to its allure.

2) What they love doing is bilking suckers out of their cash. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Government agencies do not, as a rule.

When I see the commercials showing bankers and the 3" tall 'small business owners", I think of government agencies and 3" tall voters.

If you would accept a friendly ammendment...

Politicians (who pander to big business that contributes to their campaigns for office...perpetual security) like the labor, Politicians (legal residents although no less criminal than those who are not) like the votes.

One thing that Reagan did that made me cranky (not at the time as I was like... 3, but in retrospect) is the amnesty.

Because it doesn't work. What it teaches is "If you can get here, even illegally, and stay long enough, you'll become legal and not have to go through any of the paperwork, tests or waiting times and fees of those who do it legally.

and we're going to do it again.

No one in any sort of office will stand up and say "Not here. I draw the line. No further!"

We have the way, but not the will, to deport illegal aliens.

without both, we cannot do it.

689 gettinby  Thu, May 17, 2007 1:08:21pm

Far be it for me to pretend I know enough about any of the '08 candidates, but doesn't Tancredo and/or Hunter stand up and say..."NO"

Also, I believe the majority of Americans have the will and do NOT want ANY type of amnesty and are smart enough to know that what is being presented to us is, indeed, amnesty.

We the people, it seems, have lost control of perhaps a majority of our leaders (White House, Senate and House). How did this happen, if this is what happened?

They're having another demonstration out here today. Mayor Antonio Soundbite will be addressing the crowd, the new, improved LAPD will be there, and public service personnel will be addressing the marchers in several different languages. People in this country illegally demonstrating for their right to amnesty. Probably won't be watching the news tonight.

Demographics for my county:

As of the census² of 2000, there were 38,940 people, 14,792 households, and 10,502 families residing in the county. The population density was 37/km² (95/mi²). There were 16,720 housing units at an average density of 16/km² (41/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 51.25% White, 47.53% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.33% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

I do see a lot more Hispanics around than I used to, due to the fact that we have a large chicken processing plant here.

737 LanceKates  Thu, May 17, 2007 2:13:06pm

ok... so here's the new immigration bill.

You go register... you can't become a citizen, but you get a free work visa. 2 year visa.

then, you go home for a year, then come back for another 2 years. You can renew it twice, that's it.

Why, exactly, should they register? Seems to me that there's no reason to... especially if it is going to require that they go home at some point.

It seems to me that it is doomed to fail because there is no secured border and no tough anti-illegal immigration enforcement here. There is, therefore, no reason or motivation for anyone to register.
