MSA at George Mason, Prayer Room Update

Fri, Jun 1, 2007 at 11:49:49 am PDT

Brian Ledbetter has updates on the situation at George Mason University, where the Muslim Student Association has commandeered a supposedly non-denominational meditation room and turned it into a de facto mosque—and is demanding that it be expanded: GMU Update: Prayer Room Expansion Nixed?

Debbie Schlussel has a related post up about U. Mich:

University of Michigan to Fund Muslim Footbaths

Last week, Kay Pepin, University of Michigan-Dearborn Director of Facilities Planning, and Terry Gallagher, a U of M-Dearborn spokesman, confirmed to me that plans are in the works to build Muslim footbaths (they refer to them as "foot-washing stations") in both the University Center and Fairlane Center buildings at the university.

When I asked why the footbaths were being installed, Gallagher told me that this is "an accommodation to a significant portion of our student body and their friends and visitors in accordance with our mission." He said that it is a growing trend with Boston University, Cal State-Fullerton, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Washington University of St. Louis, all installing footbaths. "We wanted to be part of that trend in accommodating Muslim students."

But when I asked Gallagher what portion of the U-M Dearborn is Muslim, he said that the most recent information the school has is from a 2004 survey of incoming freshman. The survey only identified 11% of students as Muslims, whereas 37% of incoming freshman were Roman Catholic. When I asked if there was any accommodation or money spent on Catholic students, he could not identify any.

I am curious, but if it were a PRIVATE university, and it had policies that were driving Muslim students away, would it be Publics business?

How about not enough womens bathrooms in order to drive women out?

MSM doesn't get it, but making the other religions FEEL subdued is the whole point.

The survey only identified 11% of students as Muslims, whereas 37% of incoming freshman were Roman Catholic.

And as a final testament to the power of Muslim radicals, and their LLL dupes in the administration, I wonder what percentage of those Muslim students are actually pious, practicing Muslims, or who would actually use those public foot baths.

It's very troubling that in Muslim countries, Muslims who have tasted the "goodness" of Islam are leaving by the tens of thousands every year to embrace Jesus Christ, but in Western countries, our liberal educational institutions are bending over backwards to appease this dangerous political and religious ideologies.

Source straight from a renown imam

6 million Muslims leaving Islam every year in Africa alone

I find solace in the belief that, in the end, this death cult called Islam will be destroyed by the Love of Jesus Christ. Muslims will have had enough of the hatred and violence, and will embrace the cross. They will be targeted for death and violence, but they will never go back to Islam.

IRAQ

U.S. trying to open a dialogue with al-Sadr, commander says

By Leila Fadel
McClatchy Newspapers

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military is seeking talks with Shiite Muslim cleric Muqtada al-Sadr directly and through the government of Iraq, according to a top American general.

A Sadr aide confirmed that U.S. officials had approached the anti-American cleric's supporters but said that Sadr would never begin a dialogue with what they describe as "occupation forces."

"He has a grass-roots movement that he's always going to have; we have to recognize that," Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno, the second-ranking American commander in Iraq, told McClatchy Newspapers in an interview this week. "We're trying to talk to him. We want to talk to him."

In a video conference from Baghdad on Thursday, Odierno also said the U.S. was reaching out to Sunni Muslims as well as Shiite armed factions such as Sadr's Mahdi Army militia.

"We are talking about cease-fires, and maybe signing some things that say they won't conduct operations against the government of Iraq or against coalition forces," he said Thursday.

At the same time, however, U.S. and British forces have stepped up operations against the Mahdi Army in the sprawling Shiite slum of Sadr City in Baghdad and the southern port city of Basra.

Odierno told McClatchy that he wasn't sure whether Sadr's resurfacing in the Shiite holy city of Kufa last week was a good or bad thing for American forces in Iraq. While the cleric was away, his organization became more fractionalized, and part of the reason for his return, Odierno said, was "the consolidation of his powers." This could mean cleaning up rogue elements of the Mahdi Army, he said.

"I'm mixed; I'm not sure yet," Odierno said referring to the effect of Sadr's return on security. "I'll take a wait-and-see attitude."

Sadr, who was widely rumored to be hiding in neighboring Iran for months, appeared at Friday prayers in Kufa last week spouting anti-American rhetoric and calling on his followers to work with Sunnis against a U.S. "occupation."

Although already suffering badly from Southwesterly shear as seen in the visible satellite loop, the WC-130J Super Hercules reports max flight level winds of 52 knots, pressure of 1000 mb and a warm core, as reported in this URNT12 message, so, IMHO, this should be upgraded to 35 or 40 knot Sub-Tropical Storm Barry at 2:45 PM EDT.

CAIR's deception tactics.

I suppose when the followers of Islam, for 1500 years, are taught, deception, deception, patience with the deception, deception, and then add in CAIR's lawsuits against anyone who even looks at any Muslim, or even speaks about Muslims, they are just going with the new oppurtunity.

One thing, they never knew it would have been this easy for them.

Navy Monterrey Research Satellite Center is referring to this system as 02L, meaning it has been decided by NHC to either classify this as a Tropical Depression or Sub-Tropical Depression.

52 knot winds (96 km/hr) at 500 meters above sea level would support at least 35 knots (65 km/hr), making this either a tropical or sub-tropical storm, but what do I know, I'm just an amateur.

I always shower and shave before going to Mass.

Now, sometimes, when going to work, I'll shower the night before, even though I know I might persire a little in my sleep, and not be as fresh as I could be at the office the next day, for the extra 15 minutes sleep.

But for church, it just seems more respectful.

Of course, I only go to church once a week normally, and don't demand they build me a shower at work in case I want to pop in for a prayer on the way home.

Now, this was way back in 1982-1985, but there sure wasn't any footbaths but up for those who practice the will of allah. Clicked the link and those of you who didn't and don't believe this is a big deal will probably have no problem developing a callus on your head one day or your wife, mother, sister or daughter in a burka or in one yourself. 86 MSMediaCritic  Fri, Jun 1, 2007 1:13:45pm

Just a thought on how to combat this.

1) At each entrance, write the name "Jesus" in chalk or tape it to the floor or something.

2) Videotape everyone entering or leaving the room. Make sure you can tell whether they stepped on it or not.

3) File complaints with the university about how they disrespected your religion. Demand an investigation for each violator.

Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? But that's essentially what happened at the University of San Francisco. Of course, the word was "allah", not "Jesus". I'm sure they didn't make a difference. They are sensitive to all religions, right?

Get a group of Christian students in there for some good ole praise and worship music! A couple choruses of 'My Jesus, I Love You' would do the trick.

When I went up to look at the space, it was impossible to enter without stepping on some of the many prayer rugs -- and yes, they were clearly prayer rugs, about 2 feet wide by 3 or 4 feet long, not a couple area rugs meant to cover most of the floor. If I step on them without removing my shoes -- it's a meditation room, not a Japanese restaurant -- I'm not sure what sort of verbal or physical reaction I would get.

The gender separation barrier makes me want to vomit. It upsets me that they exist in some synagogues, but to have one set up in a "public" area state-funeded university whose namesake wrote a key forerunner of the Bill of Rights, is too much.

If I were involved in a local church I might take the step of leaving some literature on the same table with the Muslim pamphlets; perhaps I'll look for something with a Cross on the front when I stop by the local Catholic Church with some visiting friends who are visiting this weekend.

The Student Government discussion seems to have a split among the non-Muslim students: Kill the area, provide for other faiths and require devotional items (such as prayer rugs) to be put away after use (which I favor), or leave it be (which, as it is a de facto mosque, I oppose). Muslim students make some nice noises in the discussion, but seem more attuned to their own convenience than to the separation of mosque and state school.

Um, cygnus, that doesn't sound like something to do in the "Quiet Meditation Area." Of course I doubt the prayers to the moon demon are all that silent.

We got leases with the "JJ Waggoner" branch of that family.

George Mason (GMU) professor Peter Mandaville invited Tariq Ramadan to GMU a couple years ago, but thankfully our alert border guards wouldn't grant the terrorist promoter a visa to enter the US.

GMU is now Senator DhJim Webb and Rep. DhJim Moran country. GMU invited Michael Moore to speak--at taxpayer expense in 2004.

GMU hosted Barack Hussein Obama for some politickin in old Virginny. Fairfax County, that is. In the big Caliphate surrounding your nation's capital.

Quittin' time

Oh, classic tornadic signature on doppler radar, although tornado appears not to be in classic SW corner, but has instead wrapped heavy rain all the way around it, such that it may occlude itself and die. But I suspect a new one would form quickly...

Maybe I missed it, but are any non-muslim students there going to make a real attempt to use the room?

They need to and to film it.

The arrogance of these people knows no bounds. In the end, it will be their downfall.

That is what I am talking about. Sometimes opportunities arise with adversity.

Bill Jefferson.

Go back with some friends, and hidden cameras, and walk thru respectful of the mats.(maybe) And I agree with your point about separate areas for men and woman. Go to the women's side. And pray. No need to deal with it.

Erm it's a public school...do away with the room. How hard is that? Problem solved.

108 Highrise  Fri, Jun 1, 2007 2:57:35pm

Oh and the separation of the sexes in the public room that tax payers pay for is COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSHIT! Man that just pisses me off that they allowed them to even do that.

109 Resistance Girl  Fri, Jun 1, 2007 3:00:07pm

A student who has attends school there should make a documented attempt to respectfully enter and use that portion of the campus.

It will be instructive to know, if nothing else, that "no go" zones exist here in the US already.

These zones need to be challenged before they are an accepted fact of life right here in our own country.

It's useless to sit in our homes and talk to like minded people about it.

This situation seems like a good one to teach muslims that they cannot appropriate public spaces.

These are the "dry runs" of seeing just what the general population will accept.

Just a tentative feeler. Just a campus.

Nothing to see here. Really...nothing for you to see here. So get out, Christians and Jews.

WHERE is the aclu? Ooops, again I forget. After all it is the anti-CHRISTIAN lawyers union.

113 deacon  Fri, Jun 1, 2007 4:45:27pm

what frustrates me is that my wife has been telling me of things like this for the past 4 years (since we met). She is a christian that grew up in a muslim country. Muslims have always slowly taken over, they are like communists.

Which country?
I'm assuming Lebanon, but it could just as easily be Egypt, Syria, Iraq or about 50 other countries.

She was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. It is the most modern and moderate of all the muslim countries, but it is still a bad place to live if you are a christian.

In the middle of this final exam Mohamad raises his hand and announces that he has to go to the “prayer room.” Abdul says the same and follows Mohammad to the “prayer room.”

While bending over and “praying” Mohammad says, “For the sake of Allah what was the answer to #66?

Abdul says “Here is my cheat sheet. See for yourself.”

After reading the cheat sheet, Mohammad says, “Praise to Allah. He has given me the answer to the White Devil’s test."

Abdul says, “You, sly dog. You sure know how to stick it to the Infidel.”

Mohammad says, “Thanks, but because I am a little older I am a better cheater than you

Oh no, here come Professor Infidel, Mohamad said, "Bend over and put it where the sun does not shine... Ouch, I'm not a goat. I did not say screw me, I said hide the cheat sheet in Uranus.”
