-RetweetJihad Watch Blocked?

Wed, Jul 4, 2007 at 9:59:23 am PDT

Someone is apparently playing political blocking games with corporate content filtering systems again; this time Jihad Watch is the target: Jihad Watch banning update.

I see Bank of America is on that list. First they outsourced their IT jobs to a foreign country, then permitted credit cards for the "undocumented", now permitting/endorsing the blocking of web sites.

I am opposed to censorship in general - and have long opined that software that uses centralised "blacklists" which are not open to public inspection - are centralised tools for abuse and the promotion of "groupthink" which override our rights to free expression.

This is mostly true in the cases of blocked sites that don't "toe the party line" and are blocked for political reasons.

Today torrentspy - tomorrow the world.

If you control the flow of information you control the minds of millions

Thus - "backdoor censorship" - using censorware under the guise of "workplace security" or "protecting the children" is nothing more than Big Brother in disguise ...

I we want to retain "free speech" in the western culture we should oppose secret blacklists wherever we find them. To do otherwise is opt into the "Quisling Culture" that currently prevails.

(1) Incredibly thin skins
(2) Incredibly thick skulls - Cro Magnon
(3) Walnut Sized Brains
(4) Whiny dispositions
(5) Lovers of self
(6) Lovers of darkness
(7) Permanent Victimhood Status
(8) Gullibility

Almost exactly a year ago LGF dealt with a similar issue. The company involved at that time was PureSight

Currently, one of the businesses that use a filter blocking JW currently is named in the original JW post:

Roberto, Here I am in Denver for training on my new job...staying at the Red Lion Hotel...I go down to the business center here and try to access Jihad Watch...They have something called SITECOACH that will not allow access to the site---reason---HATE MONGERING.

Looking up details about SiteCoach, one finds

Alex McDonald, managing partner of Sitecoach is listed as, an Internet marketing firm specializing in SEO, PPC management and tracking software

further examination reveals:

the one political candidate that Alex supported in 1992 [ok, ancient history] was Douglas Anderson

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph south on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over by sheriff's deputies who said they smelled marijuana, said Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino.

The deputies searched the car and found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, Amormino said.

UZI AND BULLETS LOBBED INTO CAB

TWO Asian men threw an arms cache into the back of a taxi last night near to the scene of the attack on Glasgow airport.

Armed cops sealed off the centre of Paisley after a sub-machine gun and bullets were found by the terrified driver. Witnesses said the gun looked like an Uzi.

The cab was from the same firm used by the two airport suspects to travel between their work at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and a house in Houston, Renfrewshire.

After cops checked the car for explosives they used a manual to identify the weapons.

Technically I think they actually are as those countries are on the continent of Asia. However, you are right to point out that the term "asian" is not applied to people of Middle Eastern (whatever that really means) decent in any other context. Additionally, it is pretty safe to say that if, instead, the terrorists were Israeli Jews, they wouldn't be described as "asian". (although Israel is (obviously) also on the continent of Asia)

An Independence Day Message from John Adams (looks like all you atheists are going to be sucking wind after reading this) - and for crying out loud, don't contact the ACLU. They might want to dig John up and hang him for saying as such in the public square.. Read it all...

On July 2, 1776, after long and wrenching debate, the Continental Congress voted to declare independence from the Mother Country and the next night John Adams went back to his rooming house in sweltering, sticky Philadelphia to write, by candlelight, two of the most famous letters in American history. Addressing his beloved wife Abigail in far-away Boston, he exulted in the birth of a new nation.

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. I am apt to believe it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.

In a prior letter to Abigail (in 1775), Adams went even further in emphasizing the association of patriotism and religiosity – a connection maintained with interruption from his time to our own. “Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but is Religion and Morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand,” he wrote. “A patriot must be a religious man.”

Kilgore thanks for the video link above. I am checking out for the day to spend time with family, see you later tonight folks

One thing apparently the Gore family doesn't own stock in is Nordic Track or anything having to do with healthy living.

The Gore Family: putting the lard in lardass!

Is it just me, or are all quoted comment numbers no longer links?

OT...

If Al Gore were my dad, I'd be on drugs, too

Goodness, check out the Reuters account on Goracle III.

Al Gore III -- whose father is a leading advocate of policies to fight global warming -- was driving his environmentally friendly car at about 100 miles (160 km) per hour on a freeway south of Los Angeles when he was pulled over by an Orange County sheriff's deputy at about 2:15 a.m..
114 WrathofG-d  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 11:03:36am

The kid, a 20 years old who comes from a rich, famous, elite, and overly privileged family, was caught with prescription drugs and Marijuana while driving.

As much enjoyment as is to be had in "sticking it to the Gores", this really isn't all that shocking.

115 6pat6  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 11:03:45am

The only way a Prius can go 100 mph is to be PUSHED down the road by a real car, or have a JATO strapped to it.

A moonbat friend was trying to impress me by his choice of a Prius for a daily driver (I drive a full-sized US-built pickup). We got on the highway. I asked him "What'll it do?" and he looked at me like I'd just landed from Pluto. "What do you mean?" "Take it up as fast as it'll go, I want to see if your car can get out of its own way!" He managed to get the car up to an indicated 95 mph, and that was all it had. That wouldn't even get the car on an episode of any police chase show!

re: #115 6pat6

I was thinking the same thing, gotta hand it to junior just to get a Prius to go a 100.

Priuses are for wusses!

If you MUST drive a non gas car, I'd take a Wrightspeed X1

or even better a Tesla.

#118 - Damn, I bet that hurt! The Law of Natural Selection at work. Stupidity wins every time.

Sounds callous, but truth hurts sometimes.

121 Rufus Lee King  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 11:12:21am

Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder

So thats it. Gore, Jr. suddenly remembered the Global Jihad and was racing to spread his wonder drug to the amnesia afflicted DemoCracks.

Thanks for that !
I thought there was something up with my PC. Seems not.

That linking must have been too bandwidth intensive to remain.
Or something like that .

I bet centcom is banned too

Thanks for the welcome, gents. I've lurked here for the last few months, unable to catch that window of open registration. There are two reasons for my restraint: 1) didn't really have anything to say at the time and 2) I had a few drinks in me and didn't want my first post to be a drunken one.

On Gore Jr.: I just heard a news blurb stating that those prescriptions found in his car were not prescribed to him. Anyone have more on this?

PS: don't forget to send our soldiers an encouraging email today.

I do believe that Albert Gore III can blame his recent problem on Gloibal Warming.
If your father is a whack job making a ton of money on junk science gloom & doom you might turn to alcohol & drugs too.
So you see Global Warming is indirectly responsible. BUT A PRIUS?

I propose that Bush pardon Al Gore, Jr. for driving his Prius at Mach 0.2, while gassed. He's just a pathetic victim of GORbal Warming."

*heh...snicker* I want a T-shirt, "Stop GORbal Warning"

130 hazzyday  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 12:50:49pm

Seems like a violation of freedoms. Someone should sue the perpetrator if they also aren't blocking out the opposing views everywhere.

131 Mardukhai  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 1:04:09pm

Perhaps he was trying to look cook, driving flat out in... a Prius?

Now I disagree entirely with fellow lizardoids who drive full size cars or dinosaur sized pickups for show, I believe that the enemy benefits from such excess. Sell the damned things.

But there is NO way to look cool in a Prius. Perhaps if he were driving a silent, sneaky, 0-60 in four seconds Tesla Roadster -- that would be cool.

They're all electric, go 135 mph for 200 miles and they're developing a solar power unit you can plug it into at night, no power or gas bills at all.

Now that's really cool. Finally, an electric car that James Bond would drive. I want one too. Take that, Ed Begly, jr.

132 cosmo  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 1:22:57pm

Well, as long as the world's filters continue to allow access to "information" from real news sites such as:

Anyway, a very happy Independence Day from your cousins in Britainistan :)

re: #100 saywhat?

re: #92 samhein

I'm guessing that we would really not want to know.

Actually, inquiring minds DO WANT TO KNOW!

Well, yes, I agree. I really would like to know. But I also figure that we'll all be pissed as hell if we did.

re: #131 Mardukhai

I make zero apologies to anyone for what I drive, and nor should anyone else. A full sized Diesel pickup meets my needs, period. Ever tow with a half-ton pickup? 'Nuff said there.

As long as our governments don't try to outright ban certain vehicles because some in the elite classes deem them non-PC (yet look at the SUVs THEY drive!), I'll drive whatever I damn well want to.

And so should all of you, without apologies to ANYONE!

136 WeaselZipper  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 3:10:34pm

My work recently blocked Jihad Watch as well as Jawa. Pisses me off that we can still get onto all kinds of Jihadist sites.

137 kutabeach  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 6:34:27pm

same here - Jihad Watch (and by extension Dhimmi Watch) were banned at my work as well.

Thank goodness Friday is my last day at the place!

(hope my new company doesn't ban them...will report back in late July when I start)

138 grumpy old codger  Wed, Jul 4, 2007 6:52:19pm

Dhimmi Watch, Hot Air, and Jihad Watch have all recently been banned up here at Ft. Drum. Can't get KOS either.

139 Logic Probe  Thu, Jul 5, 2007 5:24:37am

Well, this thread's probably long dead, but for what it's worth, I'm a Federal Imp, er Emp(loyee), and now that I'm back to "work", I checked, and none of those sites has been blocked at my unit.

140 cgn38navy  Thu, Jul 5, 2007 6:31:44am

My corporation has these items blocked. I just checked.
