9 Catttt  Thu, Jul 5, 2007 5:32:26pm

OT already (sorry - but it's a goodie):

City of Littleton dedicates statue honoring Navy SEAL (Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Danny P. Dietz Jr.)

LITTLETON, Colo. A bronze statue of a fallen Navy SEAL holding a machine gun was dedicated here yesterday over the objections of some locals who disapproved of the firearm.

But none of the 2,000 people who flooded Berry Park for the ceremony seemed to have a problem with the statue, which paid tribute to Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Danny P. Dietz Jr., a Littleton native killed two years ago in Afghanistan.

Naysayers argued that the memorial should be moved because it would frighten children from nearby elementary and middle schools, but the city of Littleton refused to budge.

"Their argument is dumb," said Jim Kenfield, an Army veteran who drove more than an hour to attend the event. "I guess they expect these guys to go over there ... and sing 'Kumbaya.' "

Added Denise Tarrant of Lakewood: "Our children should learn about our history and how we got our freedoms," she said. "You can't throw bubble gum at the enemy."

The larger-than-life bronze statue, created by sculptor Robert Henderson, depicts Petty Officer Dietz crouching in combat gear holding an automatic rifle across his knee. The pose was inspired by one of the last photos taken before his death.

Members of Rolling Thunder, a veterans support group, rode their Harley-Davidsons to Littleton and camped out near the statue to deter vandalism in the week before the unveiling.

Naysayers argued that the memorial should be moved because it would frighten children from nearby elementary and middle schools, but the city of Littleton refused to budge.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is EXACTLY what is wrong with our society today. Everything needs to be wrapped in plastic 'for the children' instead of actually taking the TIME to TEACH the children.

Lots of good people here...

Lots of .edu domains in that little window. Could be good, could be Ron Paul.

I registered from my college email, hopefully the flood of .edu is younger lizards like myself hoping to make a major difference in the near future.

Yes, I'm opening more because the back-end system is more efficient and reliable.

Thank you Charles! Unfortunately, I was so excited to see it open and get my own account that I gasped and flailed about for a user name...one would think that after all this time waiting, I would have that ready! Oh well...I'm just happy to be here. (Although I'd give about $25 to call myself "RageBoy" just cause it cracks me up every time I see it.)

I kinda enjoyed watching him being raked over the coals by Parliament on not banning that terrorist group. When he whined that it was only his fifth day on the job, they booed him. They're tough over there!

re: #34 Sponge

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is EXACTLY what is wrong with our society today. Everything needs to be wrapped in plastic 'for the children' instead of actually taking the TIME to TEACH the children.

Which is of course why I will be teaching my son about our history. History is bloody. My child will know why his Great Grandfather fought at Midway, he will know why his Grandfather and his Father raised their own right hands and said "I, (name), do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I always thought the Lizard code was ..

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Maybe Gordon Brown's first act in office?

Don't get me wrong, if this were to happen it would piss a lot of people off, not least myself. However, there's only that article at WND and it states quite clearly that it was a 'claim' only:

'Palestinian sources involved in the Johnston negotiations claimed the British government pledged through a third-party mediator to release Abu Qatada...'

As I said, I'd be really pissed off were this to happen. Embarrassed, even. But, considering the sources, I'm taking that with a pinch of salt until more outlets carry the story as fact.

re: #9 Cattt

"You can't throw bubble gum at the enemy."

No! You can't!...that would be mean, and inhumane!

Wishbone, et al.

More to the point, by raising Baha'u'llah in the PUBLIC FORUM, we can bypass the stranglehold that Muslim clergy have on the real people who are today's Muslims, BELIEVING that Muhammad is the LATEST Messenger from God, and wanting to be obedient to God, but NOT KNOWING that the Promised One has COME!

By getting that message across to the world's Muslims, we can catalyze their transformation into realworld citizens, by the millions, almost overnight.

Really change the political landscape!

re: #231 Noam Sayin'

Money quote

Although the vast majority of Muslims aren't extremists, it is important to start making a more important distinction: between moderate Muslims and reform-minded ones.

Moderate Muslims denounce violence in the name of Islam but deny that Islam has anything to do with it. By their denial, moderates abandon the ground of theological interpretation to those with malignant intentions, effectively telling would-be terrorists that they can get away with abuses of power because mainstream Muslims won't challenge the fanatics with bold, competing interpretations. To do so would be admit that religion is a factor. Moderate Muslims can't go there.

Reform-minded Muslims say it's time to admit that Islam's scripture and history are being exploited. They argue for reinterpretation precisely to put the would-be terrorists on notice that their monopoly is over.

A speaker at a rally protesting against caricatures of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was convicted on Thursday of inciting murder. Mizanur Rahman, 24, of London, spoke at a February 2006 demonstration protesting the publication of the caricatures in Europe, first published in Denmark’s Jyllands-Posten daily. Prosecutors showed video of Rahman speaking about British soldiers and saying, “We want to see them coming home in body bags. We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad.” Rahman also had placards calling for the beheading and annihilation of anyone who insulted Islam. He and three others convicted of offenses at the demonstration face sentencing on July 18. Rahman had pleaded not guilty, and said the microphone had been thrust into his hand and that he was only repeating chants from others. In a previous trial in November, a jury could not reach a verdict on the incitement to murder charge against Rahman, but did find him guilty of inciting racial hatred. ap

Joe Biden talks trash

Joseph Biden, the Delaware Democrat running for president, is a man of strong opinions. During a campaign event in a Des Moines backyard today, Mr. Biden had some choice words for President Bush and two of the Republicans running for the White House.

This guy is brain dead,” Mr. Biden said to surprised applause and laughter from the crowd. “I know I’ll be quoted, I’ll be killed for that.”

“This is a guy who is on the balls of his heels, here’s a guy who is lower off in the polls than any president in modern history and he goes ahead and he does something that just flies in the face of the sensibilities of the American people.”

A few minutes later, Mr. Biden turned his sights on Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, and a Republican running for president. “I can hardly wait to debate Rudy Giuliani if he is their nominee,” he said. “Because I will eat his lunch. The next time I hear a Republican talk about us being tough on terror – give me a break!”

Amazed? Why? The Palestinians are probably the most adept at using the media to further their agendas of anyone on the planet.

If only they'd use such skills for good and not pure unadulterated evil...

Besides, who wants to see Palestinians throwing Palestinians off rooftops. There isn't much of a market for that. But Palestinians killed by Joos? Now, that's gonna be a money shot. And the stringers know that a good shot is money in the bank. Even invented and bogus shots.

The class I took at university way-back when on this subject was titled "The Arab-Israeli Conflict." Rather telling, no? Not the "Palestinian-Israeli Conflict."

The professor was a Yuppie/Boomer Jew. He had sympathy for the Arabs caught up in the early conflict but, he focused on the building of a nation-state, and the legitimacy it holds in today's world.

From Abba Ebon to Edward Said and all kinds of points to either side of those authors to those in the middle, he taught it all.

I wonder what he thinks tonight as I post this.

Potential RoP strike in China:

Birthday revellers and students celebrating the end of exams were among 25 people killed in a powerful explosion that destroyed a karaoke bar in northeast China, state media and witnesses said on Thursday. The blast occurred in a coal-mining town of 40,000 people in Liaoning province on Wednesday night, destroying the two-storey entertainment venue and damaging nearby buildings, the official Xinhua news agency reported. There was no immediate reason given for the blast at the Tianying Karaoke Hall and Bath House in Tianshifu town. Local police and government officials contacted by AFP said they had no information on the cause. The venue’s owner was among those killed, while 33 other people were injured, four of them seriously, according to Xinhua, which cited local authorities. Many of the victims were students celebrating after examinations, witnesses said. “Some of the victims were teenagers around 18 to 19, including one of my friends, who died. I’m very sad,” a local high school girl told AFP by phone. She declined to provide her name, saying she was too distraught. A man who gave only his surname, Quan, and who went to the site after the disaster also said students were among the victims of the blast at the privately run venue. “There was a very loud noise and all the windows near the site were shattered,” Quan told AFP. The karaoke bar also housed a restaurant where guests were celebrating a birthday, according to Xinhua, giving no other details about the party. afp

Anti-Semitic website of the day:

"Zionists out of the peace movement"

The author has also "enlightened" comments on other websites, such as this gem of wisdom and tolerance:

According to her bio on the George Soros-funded Campus Progress speakers bureau web site, Susskind “was born and raised in Israel and is a longtime advocate of Palestinian rights.” More likely she is an advocate of some Palestinian rights in order that the Zionist theft of the 78% of Palestine stolen in 1948 can be safely maintained under Jewish control.

I’m not the least bit surprised that “she talked for a bit about how the US & US imperialism was responsible for what was happening in Palestine.” Heaven forbid she should actually acknowledge that Israeli and American Jews are not passive, innocent victims with their own agency in the Zionist project. I don’t think I’ll ever listen to another Jewish “advocate of Palestinian rights” unless I know for sure that s/he is unapologetically and unequivocally anti-Zionist. I’m sick of Zionists Jews pulling the strings and dominating the discussion in the peace movement.

She doesn't sound peaceful to me. Moonbat anti-Semites make me angry.

Bingo! Let's talk Scooter --- Here's a song I dedicated to Joe and Valerie a while back, for those who fail to get the reference, it's the theme to the movie "The Falcon and the Snowman".

A little piece of you
The little peace in me
Will die
For this is not america

Blossom fails to bloom
This season
Promise not to stare
Too long
For this is not a miracle

There was a time
A storm that blew so pure
For this could be the biggest sky
And I could have
The faintest idea

Snowman melting
From the inside
Falcon spirals
to the ground
So bloody red
Tomorrows clouds

A little piece of you
The little piece in me
Will die
For this is not america

There was a time
A wind that blew so young
For this could be the biggest sky
And I could have the faintest idea

This could be the biggest sky
This could be a miracle

Its just "anti-Zionism" 2.0.

I have long thought that even if Anti-Zionism was or is simply Anti-Zionism, and not Anti-Semitism, NOW...it will go that way.

European Anti-Semitism didn't start with the Holocaust. Its a long process. Der Judenstaat written by Theodore Hertzl, an awareness of Anti-Semitism that led to his belief that a Jewish State was necessary, was written in the 1800s. Obviously, long before 1940s or 1930s.

One of the key figures in the rise of Anti-Semitism as a political force was Karl Lueger, mayor of Vienna. Hitler said that he had learned to hate Jews from Lueger. (note -- the Wikipedia bio goes to great lengths to downplay Lueger's anti-Semitism -- imagine that!)

Lueger had been a political ally of Hertzl, and I suppose it is open to question if he in fact hated Jews (he once said that a "Jew" was anyone who disagreed with his politics), but he made anti-Semitism a more or less respectable political position, connecting it with German nationalism and anti-Slavic bigotry. Overall, Lueger was an opportunist and a man without any scruples. Sort of like George Soros, a man cut from very much the same cloth.

A perfect test is to notice how often the word "Zionist" and "Jew" are used interchangeably, by those that hate Israel. (or the U.S.)

Which is also why I am very cautious to say Terrorist, or Islamist, when I mean Terrorist and not say "Muslim". (I don't mean Muslims, I mean Islamists, and Terrorists)

No they don't because since more than 80% are not Christian to begin with, they don't see the war as directed against them. Besides, they know the war is really about economics, a fight against poverty and imperialist exploitation. Since the MSM is part of the revolutionary vanguard, the "Islamists" are really their allies, even if the latter don't know it yet. They just need to be educated.

woke up this mornin' with the sundown shinin' in
I found my mind in a brown paper bag within
I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high
I tore my mind on a jagged sky
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in
I watched myself crawlin' out as I was a-crawlin' in
I got up so tight I couldn't unwind
I saw so much I broke my mind
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

Someone painted "April Fool" in big black letters on a "Dead End" sign
I had my foot on the gas as I left the road and blew out my mind
Eight miles outta Memphis and I got no spare
Eight miles straight up downtown somewhere
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

London court jails 'cyber-jihadis' for online terror

I hope this is the beginning of a return to reality in the UK.

Three "cyber-jihadis" who used the Internet to urge Muslims to wage holy war on non-believers were jailed for between six-and-a-half and 10 years Thursday in the first case of its kind in Britain.

Tariq Al-Daour, Younes Tsouli and Waseem Mughal had close links with Al-Qaeda in Iraq and thought there was a "global conspiracy" to wipe out Islam, the Woolwich Crown Court in south-east London was told.

Moroccan-born Tsouli, 23, was jailed for 10 years; UAE-born Al-Daour, 21, received a six-and-a-half year sentence; and 24-year-old Mughal, who was born in Britain, was given seven-and-a-half years.

Sentencing them, Judge Charles Openshaw said the men had engaged in "cyber jihad", encouraging others to kill "kuffars" or non-believers.

"It would seem that Internet websites have become an effective means of communicating such ideas," he said, although he added that none of the men had come close to carrying out acts of violence themselves.

Referring to Tsouli, whom he recommended for deportation to Morocco after serving his sentence, he said: "He came no closer to a bomb or a firearm than a computer keyboard."

Al-Daour, from west London, on Wednesday admitted "inciting another person to commit an act of terrorism wholly or partly outside the United Kingdom which would, if committed in England and Wales, constitute murder."

Tsouli, also from west London, and Mughal, from Kent, southeast England, admitted the same charge on Monday.

The guilty pleas came part way through a trial which had run for two months.

Al-Daour, Tsouli and Mughal also pleaded guilty to a 1.8-million-pound (2.7-million-euro, 3.6-million-dollar) conspiracy to defraud banks, credit card and charge card companies.

The trial was told the computer experts spent at least 12 months trying to encourage people to follow the extreme ideology of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, using email and radical websites.

Films of hostages and beheadings were found among their possessions, including footage of British contractor Ken Bigley, who was killed in Iraq in 2004; and US journalist Daniel Pearl, killed in Pakistan in 2002.

Compact discs containing instructions for making explosives and poisons were also found, with other documents giving advice on how to use a rocket-propelled grenade and how to make booby traps and a suicide vest.

Police who trawled through a mass of data and websites also discovered online conversations in which Al-Dour talked of sponsoring terrorist attacks, becoming "the new Osama," and justifying suicide bombings.

After the sentencing, the head of Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism unit, Peter Clarke, said in a statement: "These three men, by their own admission, were encouraging others to become terrorists and murder innocent people.

"This is the first successful prosecution for inciting murder using the Internet, showing yet again that terrorist networks are spanning the globe... "Their terrorist tradecraft was sophisticated, but nevertheless defeated by this investigation."

Too light a sentence...but at least they were reconized for what they are.

It is on 'Nightline' right now..ABC..

Islam's Global War against Christianity
Will anyone ask what happened to all the ancient Christian civilizations after they're gone?

It's obvious nobody in the MSM gives a damn today.

/The more I do that, the easier it gets -- I'm beginning to understand why some people become liberals -- it doesn't require much effort at all.

That's a bunch of rubbish. Sounds just like the islamist primitives who think there is a "war" against them. Well, perhaps there is now, but we know we didn't start it since we don't have their perverted imagination. On the other hand, I seem to recall the last few years, come November or so, the war against Christmas starts up again. If that sounds familiar you must watch O'Reilly, like me, or listened to Falwell (PBUH).

The "war" is about control and superstition, not economics stupid. Think a jihadist jerk (doctors included) even knows what the word economics means?

Believe me, I think the same as you do about MSM, but when you spout crap about Christians being persecuted as the fundamental, the only truth is that some Christians are as primitive as the jihadists in their thinking.

You don't hear the usual Muslim insh'allah fatalism when it comes to land. They'll fight for land, and how. "Muslim land" is planet Earth to them. That's from reading what they say about it, not something I made up to be catchy. If Christians (Jews, Hindus, Buddhists...) think an afterlife makes up for shrinking territory, it doesn't take a math major to figure out where this is headed.

You must not have read the last part of my post, after the sarc tag [/] -- I was simply laying out what the more die-hard leftists would agree. There is no question that the war is about ideas and beliefs, but try to convince a liberal of that. The media position is consistently that all problems in the world are a caused by economic inequality. If the ordinary Jihadist doesn't understand that, it is only because (in the eyes of the MSM not according to me) he suffers from false consciousness.

Here again Ladies and Germs is a fine piece By the "juden Frei" great
Nationalised news company the BBC. Basically its an Islamo-apologist piece for Hamas.
[Link: news.bbc.co.uk...]

HEre are some of the Great Suras found in this Pulitzer prize winning work of non-non Fiction.

""Today Gaza really feels different. It was so tense before Alan was released that I thought the rocks were dancing. "

Gee, i wonder if the rocks were saying something about Juden hiding?

"Now, you could feel the relief of all the Palestinians. It's as if we're at a crossroads - 99.9% of Palestinians felt shame about what happened to Alan, so today we're happy.

"We hope no-one is going to dare to try any more kidnaps, because they know what they'd face.

SO, no more kindapping? So i guess that means That Gilad Shalit has been released? How come the NYT is covering up this great story about Shalits release? Oh thats right, they are the "jew" york times. ;P

"Most Israelis regard Hamas as a terror organisation that would destroy their state if it could...Israel may not like it, but there are signs that some people in influential positions in the West are changing their view of Hamas after everything it did to release Alan Johnston."

Ok, boys and girls, this sentence right here is what Communists call "agit-prop". Brought to you by the BBC. Fun for the whole family. When you think Agit-pop think The beeb! *thumbs up* :D

But wait! theres more!

"The second, and most important of all for Palestinians, is that it (Hamas) is dedicated to ending the appalling lawlessness of the last few years."

So...When do they start the stonings? Are they gonna have guys selling bags of fine Coloured jagged rocks and maybe a bag of pebbles for 3 shekels each?

"NOw nobody is to stone Anybody, until i blow this whistle! Even if, and i want to make this absolutely clear, even if someone says "Allah"!

Lighten up.

:)

I thought it was light. We get enough preaching about persecution from the fanatics. Pisses me off when I hear our own sound just the same.

Oh, and since you've decided to call me "stupid" would you please point out WHERE in my post I said anything about Christians being persecuted? Please show me ... I'm dying to know.

Ooops. Blank post and I haven't a clue why, and after all that brilliant commentary which has now evaporated. I think it was Beagle who made the "stupid" comments about poor persecuted Christians, sounding just like all the poor persecuted jihadists, but you seemed to agree, [/] sarcasm or not so I replied to your post, not his/hers.

Flying without a /s can lead to turbulence. You might want to equip your posts with a failsafe hotkey or something like this:

I thought it was good myself... Especially this bit:

Besides, they know the war is really about economics, a fight against poverty and imperialist exploitation.

This is why I bailed to ancient history in college, and still ended up reading about Roman grain production. You'd think the socialists would have been good a growing grain as much as they wrote about it.

Now they've adopted international legalism with the global warming apocalypse to scare everyone. New flavor, but same old crap.

Ad hominin comments don't get points. I commented on a specific whine arguing that it's the christians being persecuted, and that the MSM (I'm no fan) is anti christian, which is why they just don't "get it". Maybe they are just stupid or naiive or excessively politically correct; but simply because they are 80% non christian (references please)...? stupid.

What you find amusing is really pretty vacuous.

Give me a break. What f does that have to do with the state of the mainstream media? Tomorrow they (fanatic a, b or c) will say the same to the Shiites, then the Jews (oops, already did that), then the ...whatever. So what else is new?

#593 Chenzen,

How many other sites run registration like this? If the goal is to be a 'troll' (however you define it) I have to imagine there are easier sites to get into.

But if Charles were to leave registration open for long periods of time, it wouldn't be a treat. Right now, Charles mixes a nice balance of just letting in enough riff raff to make it seem like an Easter Egg hunt for all the regulars.

If we got to find candy every day, it wouldn't be a treat.
