-RetweetZawahiri Threatens Britain

Tue, Jul 10, 2007 at 9:07:28 pm PDT

The Egyptian physician is getting frisky again, with another video threatening Britain over the knighthood of Salman Rushdie.

In his second statement this week, al Qaeda top deputy Ayman al-Zawahri is threatening more attacks in the United Kingdom. Al Zawahri acknowledges Tony Blair has left office, and he addresses the United Kingdom’s new Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“As for Blair’s successor, I tell him the policy of your predecessor has brought you catastrophes and defeat in Afghanistan and Iraq, and even in the center of London,” says al Zawahri in reference to the July 7, 2005, London suicide bombings. “If you did not learn the lesson, we’re willing to repeat it for you, God willing, until we are assured that you’ve fully understood it,” he says in the 20-minute audio statement found on the Internet today.

Al Zawahri criticizes Britain for awarding author of “Satanic Verses” Salman Rushdie the title of knighthood and considers it a “clear message” to Muslims. “I tell Elizabeth and Blair, your message has arrived, and we are preparing a precise response,” he says.

Al Zawahri has released eight statements since the beginning of the year. In this latest audio message, he indicates he uses the Internet.

He says, “While browsing through material published on the information network, I found an article by Abdul Aziz al Rantissi entitled ‘Why Don’t We Besiege America?’”

al-Zawahri is no threat to Britain. Gordon Brown is the real threat.

Odd..

tell Elizabeth and Blair, your message has arrived, and we are preparing a precise response

I wonder if this is actually a new recording, or if it was made a few weeks ago Or many nobody gave Zawahiri the memo that Blair is not in charge anymore.

All of which attest to his impotence and powerlessness?

Are these 'statements' released online, or to Al Jazeera? There's so much going on online, and one has to wonder why it continues. It's possible it is allowed so as to watch these jerkweeds, but if the way we're conducting the 'GWOT' overall, I'd have to say incompetence.

The lead story for the evening was on the hot weather. They mad it into a huge deal. Who could have guessed, 90 degrees in July. The spent time interviewing an expert to concluded that cities are warmer because all the asphalt and concrete absorb the heat and radiate it back at night. No *** sherlock. Next was that teen/new drivers are not as good as more experienced drivers, again no *** sherlock. Why do they even call that news.

Zawahiri has his perfect dhimmi masochist partner in Brown who looks like the dog who ran after a bus all this life and then had no idea what to do with it once he caught it. For years he was plotting to undermine Blair and replace him and all he came up with to handle growing terrorism foreign and domestic is to eliminate all the WORDS for it?

According to his own rules, Brown has to scratch his empty head perplexedly and say, "This Zawhiri chap, who can fathom what motivates him to threaten these 'crimes'? They can't be predicted or prevented as they occur just totally randomly so we'll just have to wait to see the perpetrators in court...if we have a court once they're through with us, the random chaps who wish us ill for no discernible reason". U.S. imam questions if "American" Islam exists

Yahya Hendi is not sure that an "American Islam" exists. When the Palestinian-born imam talks about his religion, though, it sounds as if it has become as integrated into American life as he has.

Hendi, 40, is the Muslim chaplain at Georgetown University, a Catholic institution that in 1999 became the first university in the United States to hire a full-time imam. He teaches a course on interreligious dialogue there along with a priest and a rabbi.

He is also chaplain at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and a mosque in Frederick, another suburb north of the capital. He lectures around the country to explain Islam to non-Muslims and U.S. religious pluralism to Muslims.

The question of whether Islam can be "westernized" -- a key aim of European officials seeking a "British Islam" or "French Islam" to help integrate Muslim immigrants -- seems to be more than an ocean away for this pragmatic thinker.

"Islam is a very inclusive religion, but Muslims have given it a bad name," Hendi, who was born in Nablus on the West Bank and came to the United States 20 years ago, told Reuters.

"Islam demands that Muslims adapt to their circumstances," he said, arguing that Islam had taken on some local customs and rejected others ever since it appeared in Arabia 1,400 years ago.

Africa: Aga Khan Marks Golden Jubilee As Spiritual Leader of Ismaili Muslims

The Aga Khan will complete his 50th year as the Imam of the Ismaili community today. Fifty years ago, at the age of 20, the Aga Khan succeeded his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan, as the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims.

The Aga Khan leads a community of 15 million Ismaili Muslims living in some 25 countries, mainly in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and North America.

He is a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) through his cousin and son-in-law Ali, the first Imam, and his wife Fatima, the Prophet's daughter.

In keeping with the Shia tradition of Islam, the mandate of the Imam extends to both spiritual and worldly matters. Since assuming the office of Imamat in 1957, Prince Karim Aga Khan has taken upon himself his grandfather's concern for the well-being of the Ismaili community, the wider Muslim community, and those amongst whom they live. He has emphasised Islam as a thinking, spiritual faith that teaches compassion and tolerance and upholds the dignity of mankind.

Another excuse for big fundraising...

Ladies:
BDS? Hardly. I'm simply doing a one-for-one comparison. And I'm critical of my commander-in-chief in my off time because I feel I've earned the right to be so.

Petreaus is the best thing going for us in iraq. He has made more progress in 8mo than anyone else during the 4 years we've been in that sh!thole. This in the face of an executive branch that doesn't have the sack to get the job done and a legislative branch that is doing everything in their power to see that he fails.

Kerry is one of the biggest POS's to ever disgrace the armed services of this country. And al-Gore "would have handled 9/11 with all of the compunction of a drag-queen getting his wig ripped off". So I do believe W was the right man for the job. But somewhere along the way, he lost his way.

I just believe in calling a spade a spade. And no rational person can say that his domestic policy isn't selling the country up the river.

Imagine if PM Brown responded in like kind:

Dr. Zawahri, I tell you now and before God Almighty, that you are one obnoxious and wicked little turd. The amount of pain and suffering that you have inflicted upon people who mean you no harm, in the least, ranks you among the most cruel and inhumane people to have ever lived. And yet you have the chutzpah to threaten even more innocent souls, over nothing more than an individual man who wrote a book you don't like. In short, Dr. Zawahri, get a life. Oh, and by the way, your letter has inspired us to send 10,000 British Marines your way (and not the pansy-ass ones like those who spent some time at Club Iran) as our diplomatic response. The one consistent thing I'm beginning to note about these folks is that nothing is real, nothing is what it actually is. Lying is next to godlessness (maybe I misspelled that last one). Agreements are nothing, truces are reasons for war.

I've been doing quite a bit of reading of history for the past couple of years and everyone, from the young boy on a whaling ship in the 1850s to U.S. and British soldiers in the Mid-East during WWII, says the same thing. The people they encountered over there are untrusthworthy, dirty lying thieves.

Nice comeback. Call a spade a spade but spare us the gratuitous insults, thank you.

As to thoughts re: your C in C, I agree with your first premise - that Bush got a good start out of the gate, providing leadership at a desperate time. He made some tough decisions and even tried a new form of international interplay that one might call the "You really won't like the alternative" school of gunboat diplomacy. It remains to be seen whether your country will stick with the plan long enough to find out whether it will work; on the other hand, appeasement, the Sandalistas' alternative, has worked nowhere (vis Spain, Fwance, Holland).

Afghanistan and Iraq are experiments, much as the Islamists experimented with the Beirut Marine barracks bomb, WTC bomb, USS Cole bomb, the 9-11 attacks, the Bali bomb, etc. We may (and I should stress MAY) have improved our vigilance enough to prevent most of the next attacks, but we are playing a losing game if we play defense only - this is the real rationale behind the policy of regime change undertaken by the Bush White House. That this has not been communicated well enough by Bush is an indication that majorities in both Houses, along with control of the White House, are not enough to change the inertia of America in an age when leadership of the nation is contested by the other institutions such as academe, entertainment, and news media.

The trap, of course, is that those same players may succeed in undermining the offensive part of your good defense (regime change), try to make nice with the Islamists, and then blame Bush for the problems they've created when the attacks don't stop.

I often overhear from many that today's warriors are not as tough as those in the past who marched out into open fields to battle it out in raw hand to hand combat. But I'm more than sure that Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, El Cid, and many other of the great Generals and Warlords of Antiquity would be impressed with today’s warriors for their intelligence, initiative, discipline, and loyalty while recognizing many of the battle formations and tactics.

When it came to identifying the enemy for them it came easy as troops of the day wore bright and/or varying colors and uniforms to distinguish friend from foe where as today’s warriors face enemies that hide among civilian populations. Hand-to-hand is still a major part of warfare today but the warriors of old hardly seen fluid battle fields with instant communication, varying zones of fire, and weapon systems that could wipe their entire armies off the field.

The only thing the old guard would criticize is our tendency to hold back, much to Zawahiri’s good fortune.

Its passing here and beginning elsewhere.

But never forget that the 11th Igarashi Day.

Just who is Igarashi?

I think Robert Spencer has the best memorial from last year.

Please do not forget that he worked to show the good and humane side of the forces that so brutally struck him down.

RIP

Life sentence, with the judge saying minimum forty years before being considered for parole.

Al Zawahri criticizes Britain for awarding author of “Satanic Verses” Salman Rushdie the title of knighthood and considers it a “clear message” to Muslims. “I tell Elizabeth and Blair, your message has arrived, and we are preparing a precise response,” he says.

Zawahri: Have you considered Christianity? Jesus says to love your enemies, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who spitefully use you. One does what Jesus says not for their enemy's benefit, but for their own.

Maybe instead of doing what the blood-guzzling Babylonian moon-god says, you should consider the words of the True & Living God and forgive?

C'mon...it'll be fun! You'll experience a whole new life if you do.

It's so much better than hating people and getting revenge for something that doesn't even exist.

I read that through. This sentence stood out

The couple has held Islamic marriage ceremonies in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Felix-Browne said.

So, Do I infer that a Muslim may marry a woman in an Islamic ceremony despite already being married to her ?
Surely one of the ceremonies is invalid?

The woman is clearly insane. Isn't that a disqualifier to marriage in Egypt?

Imagine if PM Brown responded in like kind:

...Oh, and by the way, your letter has inspired us to send 10,000 British Marines your way (and not the pansy-ass ones like those who spent some time at Club Iran) as our diplomatic response. Have a nice day.

Would that the British had 10,000 Royal Marines to send. Unfortunately their military has been stripped utterly and they could only field 4800 Royal Marines including bandsmen, medics, and cooks. Churchill must be spinning in his grave!

I'd use a little psych warfare on this pig. Cut the reward money offered way down for both him and Ben Laden. Say: "They're just not effective leaders anymore so we're not going to pay as much. They've released like, 6 threats of imminent attacks on the US and non of them have happened so obviously their through as terrorist leaders and incapable of hurting a fly. Just a couple of incontinent old men hiding in a cave somewhere trying to get some attention."

Reduce the reward to a half hour of romance with a goat in order to "appeal to the type who would be in proximity to this guy".

Amazingly enough, one comentator this morning on radio said that in order for us to have peace, it may be best to rescind Rushdie's knighthood.

I suppose the next logical step, if we did that, would be to implement sharia law.

With the toasty terrorist still alive in the burn unit; and people aware of what happened in Glasgow and London; PLUS, the jail sentences for 4 of the failed London bombers/bombings ...

Isn't it possible that these tape threats are done to get the "religion of peace back on track," again? You know: Terror isn't funny.

I agree with that. That the Saud's are still hard at work pushing their Wahabbi crap. Just like ENRON kept pushing "brown outs" for as long as they were able to get away with it.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, AFTER Musharraf's plane was shot at, the Red Mosque met its fate.

And, we're gonna have incensed crazies going as far as they can go.

Given that the imams are now louder than ever.

I'm sure he's also one of the many fools who think that ramming a Palestinian state down Israel's throat will bring peace to the Middle East.

"Why don't we besiege America?"

Y'know we were just wondering the same thing and came to the conclusion that your operatives are too busy selling heroin to make enough money to buy you all of the diapers your geriatric ass requires. While you sit in a cave trying to figure out how to get that annoying scab off of your forehead.

Here's a tip Mr. Z: Walk outside your cave, stand in one spot for about a minute and an Army Ranger or Navy SEAL will take care of that forehead problem for you. .50 cal's have been know to do the trick, and something that can rip through 2 engine blocks at 1000 yards should do just fine.

Just tryin' to help

I fail to see how a fictional book about Mohammed could be any more horrific than a factual account of the marauding, pillaging, murdering, slave-trading, psychopath's life.

Perhaps I'm being too judgemental on Big Mo. He can't be all bad - I heard, for instance, that he loved children...erm...

Sounds like a direct threat against Britain's Queen and Tony Blair. Islamofascists are getting bolder. Sure wish we had the b--lls to really find this guy. Pakistani "permission" or no.

Musharaf is not a fool - the fact that he is still alive is proof he has some idea on how to stay one step ahead of the fanatics; however, it's time to stop playing footsie with Pakistani sensibilities and insert American influence in Pakistan - not just he border regions, but all of the country. Pakistan has been a long time ally of America, and Pervez has done a fine balancing act - but it's time to put up or shut up. Also would be nice to know that their nuke arsenal was secured.

197 Cry of defiance and not of fear  Wed, Jul 11, 2007 9:50:45am

#64 cbinflux: I read the linked article about Imam Hendi and 'American Islam' and I'm entirely unimpressed. He says he hopes the 'theology' of Islam never changes; that is exactly what the rest of the world has a problem with about Islam. As for 'cultural' matters, the apparel he wears while doing his religious duties, or the language he uses, are not the bones of contention. When I consider just a few of the 'cultural' aspects of Islam, which are actually mandated for in the Koran because Muhammad either did them or encouraged or condoned them --- female genital mutilation, wife-beating, rape, paedophilia, slavery, bigotry, permanent warfare, we are entitled to demand a great deal more from anyone attempting to 'sell' us the notion of a palatable Islam than merely outward aspects like dress and language.

I have yet to hear, see or read of any imam dealing with Jihad as the Koran and the ahadith transmit it to the 'faithful.' Talk of inner jihad as a personal, spiritual struggle appears to have no real support in islamic theology and can only be linked back to one 'weak' hadith (Muhammad remarking at the end of his long and successful career as a warlord, etc., that 'inner' jihad was the more demanding of the two. Yes, I expect it would be if you hadn't cultivated a conscience throughout your life). At the end of the day, Islam will end up in the dustbin of history and we should do all we can to hasten that day, not allowing ourselves to be waylaid by superficial siren voices with no substance (and no theology) to back up their contentions.

On a lighter note, re your bit about the Aga Khan and the Ismaili Moslems: the biggest fundraising of all was for the Aga Khan's own benefit: the tradition among the Ismailis is that, once a year, the Aga Khan is weighed and paid his weight in gold.

198 Maine's Michael  Wed, Jul 11, 2007 9:53:27am

Well, it doesn't look like the "We are all Hizbollah" rallies last summer earned many appeasement points. (I wonder what role those marchers see themselves as playing in Iran's proxy war with Israel.)

I don't think Gordon Brown's telling people not to use the M-word when talking about terrorism is going to help at all. The M's will probably interpret that as pure cowardice.

By the way, Zawahiri, that's Queen Elizabeth. [bigoted word].
