Failed London Bombers Sentenced

Wed, Jul 11, 2007 at 11:04:08 am PDT

No death penalty in Britain, of course, so they were jailed for a minimum of forty years each, the equivalent of life sentences: Four jailed for botched ‘al Qaeda’ London bomb plot.

LONDON (Reuters) - A British judge jailed four men for 40 years each on Wednesday for attempting to carry out suicide bombings on London’s transport system in a plot he said had clearly been masterminded by al Qaeda.

Judge Adrian Fulford told the four he had no doubt their botched attempt to bomb three underground trains and a bus on July 21, 2005, two weeks after 52 people were killed in similar attacks, had been directed by Osama bin Laden’s group. The second wave of attacks only failed because, although the detonators fired, the bombs did not explode.

“This was a viable, indeed a very nearly successful, attempt at mass murder,” Fulford told the court. “These were not truly isolated events but ... coordinated and connected in that I have no doubt they were part of an al Qaeda inspired and controlled sequence of attacks.”

The men, Muktah Said Ibrahim, Yassin Hassan Omar, Ramzi Mohammed and Hussein Osman, all Muslims of African origin, were found guilty on Monday of conspiracy to murder. Sentencing them, Fulford ruled they should stay in jail for a minimum of 40 years, the maximum sentence he said he could impose in light of other terrorism cases.

The men looked impassive as the sentences were handed down. As they left the courtroom, Osman clutched a Koran to his chest.

The real news in this story is that Reuters called them Muslims.

The men ... all Muslims of African origin, were found guilty on Monday of conspiracy to murder.

Maybe because they weren't 'youthful'

15 serfer62  Wed, Jul 11, 2007 11:16:25am

The death penalty should be swift, say 30 days after sentencing. It should be public and by hanging.

However we are so PC burdened that an alternate of Life in a cell 6 X 9 (that was my tent space in the ME), no TV or computer, no radio and a max of 3 books is OK with me.

Anything else is BS cause these people will be out pretty soon...

Let's just hope they don't start converting other inmates with shorter sentences to their brand of western hating, baby killing RoP. That seems to be the case is most prisons.

Sabotouers get a criminal jail sentence.

Get a F'n clue, we are in a WAR, criminal law need not apply.

"... as a spy or saboteur". Article 29 Database 'IHL - Treaties & Comments', View '1.Traités 1.2. Par Article' of the Regulations annexed to the Fourth Hague Convention of 1907 gives the following definition of a spy: "A person can only be considered a spy when, acting clandestinely or on false pretences, he obtains or endeavours to obtain information in the zone of operations of a belligerent, with the intention of communicating it to the hostile party".
That definition of a spy is still valid. Article 30 Database 'IHL - Treaties & Comments', View '1.Traités 1.2. Par Article' of the same Regulations stipulates that a spy taken in the act shall be punished without previous trial -- a provision in keeping with the general rule in Article 3 Database 'IHL - Treaties & Comments', View '1.Traités 1.2. Par Article' of the Convention, which we have already discussed. Articles 64 Database 'IHL - Treaties & Comments', View '1.Traités 1.2. Par Article' to 76 are applicable to the trial of spies in occupied territory, and it must be remembered that Article 68, paragraph 2 Database 'IHL - Treaties & Comments', View '1.Traités 1.2. Par Article', authorizes the Occupying Power to impose the death penalty, in certain circumstances, on protected persons who are guilty of espionage. Lastly, a spy who rejoins the armed forces to which he belongs and is later captured by the enemy, is treated as a prisoner of war and cannot be made to answer in any way for his earlier acts of espionage.

Britain Focuses on Missed Intelligence

Long before Muktar Said Ibrahim tried to blow up a London bus two years ago, British security services filmed him at a suspected terrorist training camp, arrested him distributing extremist pamphlets and knew he looked to a radical Islamic preacher for guidance.

Yet it emerged during his just completed trial that the Somali refugee was still allowed to go to Pakistan, where prosecutors believe he got more training, and then return to Britain to lead a gang of would-be suicide bombers that brought renewed terror to London.

Who's lower in the British prison system? Pedophiles or Jihadiis?

Is there that much of a difference?

re: #92 baconeatingkaffir

Yes there is a difference.

It is true that in many of the madrasa ridden parts of Pakistan, that it is completely acceptable to take multiple preteen wives.

It is also true in these areas that giving it to another guy, especially young boys is completely acceptable (unless you are the receiver, in which case it is 'haram' or sinful).

However pedderasses don't blow up innocent civilians. Thats the difference.

I noticed in a newspaper write up that once again they revealed the mistakes of the terrorists so that the terrorists could once again correct their mistakes and have bigger and better death tolls. See Google news. I personally would like to see the death penalty for people who reveal terrorist mistakes. They are Darwinly stupid and they should be cleansed our of the gene pool because their stupidity presently does not harm them, it harms us and our survival. Maybe if they knew their life was on the line they would keep their great big stupid mouths shut.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope that "40 years = life"; if the British system is anything like OTHER Commonwealth "justice" systems, they'll be automatically eligible for parole after 1/3 of their sentence (13 years and a bit).

Judge Adrian Fulford told the four he had no doubt their botched attempt to bomb three underground trains and a bus on July 21, 2005, two weeks after 52 people were killed in similar attacks, had been directed by Osama bin Laden’s group. The second wave of attacks only failed because, although the detonators fired, the bombs did not explode.

how likely is it that we'll see that in the MSM?

40 years is not enough. They might still be alive after 40 years.

98 blueboy  Wed, Jul 11, 2007 1:39:51pm

Guys, 40 years is the 'tariff' - they must serve 40 years before they can be considered for parole. Although don't rule out appeals led by bleeding heart apologists or prisoner swaps etc.

As they left the courtroom, Osman clutched a Koran to his chest.

That book ain't gonna give you any protection against Butch, Osman. You will soon know why they call prison "the Pokey."

Best news I have heard in a while. Only foreshadowed by the increasing amount of Muslim converts in prison will probably elevate them to a position of prestige. Thereby missing out on the rapings and other fringe benefits of the penal system.

"Clutching a Koran to his chest" says it all. When will they stop giving them terrorist manuals in prison?

40 years of

Breakfast - Sausage, Bacon and Black Pudding

Lunch - Ham sandwiches

Dinner - Pork chops

Should do the trick.
