Mandela's Elders Have the Solution

Fri, Jul 20, 2007 at 8:43:46 am PDT

Nelson Mandela has appointed a group of “elders” who will solve the world’s problems by acting as moral role models, and offering wise counsel: Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, and Mary Robinson.

As befitting the world’s most popular statesman, Nelson Mandela marked his 89th birthday yesterday with songs, tears and a host of tributes from fellow world leaders, past and present.

“Madiba”, the clan name he is affectionately known by, used the occasion to launch an international group of elder statesmen that will help to solve world problems from climate change to poverty.

The Elders, which is based on the idea of traditional African village elders offering wise counsel, will include the talents of former US President Jimmy Carter, the former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and the former Irish President Mary Robinson.

“I am confident that the Elders can become real role models. They will support courage where there is fear, foster agreement where there is conflict and inspire hope where there is despair,” Mr Mandela said to wild applause and enthusiasm.

Jimmy and Kofi are well-known for their anti-Israel warp, but Mary Robinson really rounds out the cast. Her organizational skills are legendary; shortly before the September 11 attacks, as the UN’s High Commissioner on Human Rights, she presided over the infamous antisemitic conference in Durban, South Africa, with the Orwellian title “World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.”

The hate literature distributed during the NGO conference included caricatures of Jews with hooked noses, Palestinian blood on their hands, surrounded by money, and Israelis wearing Nazi emblems. At the Government Conference, there was daily distribution by NGO participants of literature reading “Nazi-Israeli apartheid,” while inside the drafting committees, states such as Syria and Iran objected to the inclusion of antisemitism or the Holocaust on the grounds that antisemitism was a “complicated,” “curious,” and “bizarre” concept, and reference to the Holocaust would be imbalanced or “favoritism.”

Meanwhile, outside the conference hall, as one delegate reported in the Los Angeles Times, he and other representatives of Jewish groups were subjected to taunts and physical intimidation. At one point, thousands of South African Muslim demonstrators marched bearing banners proclaiming “Hitler should have finished the job.”

Thus, success on the political battlefield was to be accomplished by utilizing the language of human rights to demonize, and then dismember, the opponent. In this way, the Durban Conference provided rampant antisemitism with a global platform under UN auspices, in a conference allegedly against racism and xenophobia. It also revealed the malevolent antisemitism underlying the campaign to delegitimize the state of Israel.

We already have one- except we call them "democrats".

It's no surprise that these words would come from Muslim-majority states due to all the blatant anti-semitism in the Koran and Hadith, not to mention these societies at large.

Underneath the surface controversy, the United Nations Conference Against Racism, Racial Intolerance, Xenophobia and/ or Related

Intolerance in Durban had an impressive unanimity on the key points. Everyone agreed that the West was guilty as charged, disagreement being confined only to the appropriate remedy. Dismissing apologies for colonialism and slavery as a pathetic attempt to cop a plea, Robert Mugabe’s government—taking time out of its hectic schedule of terrorizing white farmers—called on Britain and America to “apologize unreservedly for their crimes against humanity.” There was a big split on the slavery-reparations front between the African-American bloviators, who wanted whitey’s payments to go to individuals, and the African presidents, who thought it would be more convenient if the West just dropped off one big check at the presidential palace. The Organization for African Unity demanded that reparations for the Hutu slaughter of the Tutsis should be paid—by the Americans.

As befitting the world’s most popular statesman, Nelson Mandela

Let me fix that for them;

As befitting the world’s most popular statesman terrorist mass murderer of civilians, Nelson Mandela

There that's better;

As mentioned, in his so-called book, "Long Walk to Freedom", Mandela says that he "signed off" on the Church Street bombing.

People should take a look at what Mandela "signed off" with while he was in prison (convicted for other acts of terrorism) President P.W. Botha told Mandela way back in 1985, that he could be a free man as long as he did one thing: Publicly renounce violence. Mandela refused. That is why Mandela remained in prison until the appeaser F.W. de Klerk freed him unconditionally. The bottom line is that Nelson Mandela never publicly renounced violence - and we should never forget that.

For a real elder statesman "based on the idea of African village elders offering wise counsel" one could look at the former President of Botswana, Quett Masire (new memoir out: Very Brave or Very Foolish? Memoirs of an African Democrat).

Jimmy Israel-is-worse-than-Rwanda Carter really should be registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act as a foreign lobbyist, since basically that's what he is.

Bush as crime-fighting superheroes, imbued with superpowers by a "hurricane-powered dose of radiation" received at a celebrity golf tournament. Each of their wives is a member as well. Richard Nixon and other presidents departed in 2000 and 2001 appear. Bill Clinton, despite his status as a living former president, is not a member since he did not receive the hurricane-powered dose of radiation. In one episode, Clinton is shown unsuccessfully attempting to establish himself with the cabal. The X Presidents has been adapted to comic books by Random House Comics. Reagan himself is no longer a member of the X Presidents but does appear as an Ex-X President. With Ford's death in late 2006, it is apparent that he too is now an Ex-X President

Not that I want to jump into this argument, but the person who voluntarily signs up with this particular coffee klatch is either monumentally ignorant (to the point of obliviousness), desperate for publicity and willing to embrace anything to get it, or so inured to evil that it makes no impression.

Those are the "optimistic" choices, and none of them do her credit.

On the other hand, if she walks out of this one with a "sorry I was taken in by a bunch of anti-semitic buffoons... again!", well, that would be something.

From the blog of a South African journalist/commenter:

Tutu weeps as Gabriel tries to hit right note

Archbishop Desmond Tutu broke down and wept this week as former Genesis singer Peter (Angel) Gabriel attempted to remember the words and tune to his composition “Biko”. The impromptu performance, given at a meeting of The Elders at Constitution Hill, was so dire that eventually Tutu could stand it no longer. Other members of The Elders didn’t seem to be so badly affected but that was probably because they turned their hearing aids off.

Sorry, yes it does. It's in the headlines on the right of the page. Do a "Mary Robinson " search when you hit the site first.

And btw since Koffi Annans wife is the niece of Raoul Wallenberg, I don't suppose he an anti-semite either!

They may not achieve much ( anything ? ) but don't ascribe base motives to them.

At the UN Home for Elderly Communists, aging leftists, traitors, appeasers, adn anti-Americans will get the attention they crave. They will be cared for by airheaded hippies, leftist protesters, and bureaucrats from every nation in the world. These hippies, protesters and bureaucrats will show interest in the aging leftists' opinions so you don't have to. Activities provided for the elderly include: weekly "blame America" sessions in which members can explain why their country's/religion's/culture's failings are really the fault of America; arts and crafts, where they can make propaganda art and signs for leftist protest rallies; a book club, where we discuss P.C. approved literature; and diversity appreciation, where non-white/non-Western cultures can show why they are superior.

The Elders? This sounds like something out of Marvel Comics. Perhaps the "Elders" should invite the absolute ruler of Latveria, Doctor Doom to join their super-team.

“I am confident that the Elders can become real role models. They will support courage where there is fear, foster agreement where there is conflict and inspire hope where there is despair,” Mr Mandela said to wild applause and enthusiasm.

"Once I have taken care of the accursed Fantastic Four, the world will be mine," added the heavily armored and masked Dr. Doom.

Sorry, but I'm certain that she refused to sign off on the version of the communique that she was PRESENTED with. However I'm also certain that since the fiasco was a U.N. sponsored event, she had to sign off on something; probably something fairly anodine.
She's still not an anti-semite. Nor a bigot. Nor a rascist. Her principled stands taken while President of Ireland were the first such taken by an Irish president.
And I know that Wallenberg wasn't a jew. Lot's of people aren't. And lots of people aren't anti-semitic either. That word is very quickly losing its currency, so freely is it bandied about nowadays. But I suppost that's another of my bullsh*t opinions!

Antisemitism is in my opinion reaching dangerous levels among the left, aiding the ROP.
Those on the left seem to be unable to control the urge to join an anti Western group of brainwashed thugs.
Hitler is the template on how dangerous this can become.
Elitiist University and media Jews etc who join in this self loathing either to be tres chick or just because they love the new victim class are sowing the whirl wind.
Jews , Christians , Athesits etc all have a vested interest in sticking together and to not be cowed by sophmoric name calling or liberal assaults on intellects that are just not as "enlightened "as their own.

HEY, to any Christians out there who stand against these anti-Semites...Thanks :)

I have repeatedly, swamp.

Jews represent all that is Good and Noble in the world. They are the representatives of God (even if they don't always act like it individually).

I shudder to think of a world without a Jewish influence.

Imagine: a world that is ruled by the followers of Mohammad.

131 BabbaZee  Sat, Jul 21, 2007 3:56:02am

Some people regard the word antidisestablishmentarianism, with 28 letters, as the longest accepted word in the English language. The word is used seriously in academic and ecclesiastical writing about the Church of England (whereas the word floccinaucinihilipilification may have been invented as a joke and is an amalgamation of four Latin words[1][2]). Presumably the creation of the word antidisestablishmentarianism invoked the irony of its length, and may have to do with the politics and commentary of the time.

Mandela, Carter, Robinson, Annen - I couldn't think of a more appropriate group to blame the world's problems on Israel. Stay tuned for their denouncements.

135 El Gringo  Sat, Jul 21, 2007 9:59:51am

what all of these "leaders" have in common is that they think everything that happened since 9/11 was a mistake, and they want to go back to a time where "the West" does not respond to terrorists acts with violence and we're constantly "in dialog" with hate regimes. Any one of these people could get the Democratic Nomination if we didn't have such xenophobic election laws in our country.

136 Spionator  Sat, Jul 21, 2007 10:46:20am

@threecoloursblue - Mary Robinson tried to put a nice make-up on the antisemitism of the Durban declaration, but never touched the core issue: the inheritability of the so-called "right of return" for Palestinian Arabs.

Not even Germans expelled in the aftermath of Nazism do have this special privilege.
