CAIR Goes After Rudy Giuliani

Wed, Jul 25, 2007 at 5:38:51 pm PDT

You had to know this was coming.

The Council on American Islamic Relations, the Saudi-funded radical Islamic front group named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding trial, has put out one of their infamous “Action Alerts” on Rudy Giuliani—because he used the words “Islamic terrorism:” Action: Contact the Giuliani Presidential Committee.

Here’s the contact information they’ve published at their web site. I encourage LGF readers to use this information to express support for Giuliani’s unwillingness to knuckle under to the demands of this fifth column group:

Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee

UPDATE at 7/25/07 6:22:45 pm:

Here’s a blast from the past. When Rudy Giuliani told the Saudis to take their $10 million check and shove it, shortly after the 9/11 attacks, CAIR was right there, doing the same thing they’re doing today: Muslims Criticize Mayor Giuliani for Rejection of Disaster Donation.

Muslims Criticize Mayor Giuliani for Rejection of Disaster Donation

From: CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations)
For immediate release
Washington-DC, 10/12/2001

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Washington-based Islamic advocacy group, today criticized New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani for rejecting a $10 million World Trade Center attack disaster-relief check from a Saudi Arabian prince who said in a statement that America “should re-examine its policies in the Middle East and adopt a more balanced stance toward the Palestinian cause.” (see : Citing Comments on Attack, Giuliani Rejects Saudi’s Gift)

Giuliani called the remarks by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, a nephew of King Fahd and one of the world’s wealthiest men, “highly irresponsible and very, very dangerous.” He directed that the prince’s donation to the Twin Towers Fund be rejected.

(In his remarks Prince Alwaleed also offered condolences for the victims of the World Trade Center attack and condemned terrorism in all its forms. In another statement issued today, Prince Alwaleed reiterated his support for Palestinian rights.)

“It is unconscionable that Mayor Giuliani would sacrifice the interests of the victims of these horrific attacks in order to score points with the domestic lobby for a foreign government. The mayor’s actions are in opposition to President Bush’s repeated warnings not to turn the fight against terrorism into a war against Muslims or Arabs,” said CAIR Board Chairman Omar Ahmad.

“It is just this kind of uncritical support for Israel’s brutal policies toward Palestinian Christians and Muslims that creates resentment in the Muslim world that is in turn exploited by terrorists. American policy in the Middle East should be based on what is best for America, not Israel,” said Ahmad. He added that more Americans are calling for a re-alignment of United States foreign policy in the Arab and Muslim worlds based on justice and universal standards of human rights.

There are an estimated seven million Muslims in America and some 1.2 billion worldwide.

Every Day CAIR gives me more reasons to distrust them...

Don't denounce Hamas or others who perpetuate mass murder...go after people who use any sentence that has isLAm in it that they don't like.

Grow up you fifth column deadbeats...

CAIR just seems to seethe and lash out at anyone and everything they deem opposed to their objecives. As has been stated many times, very much akin to their unwitting cohorts on the "progressive" left.

Climb down from what? These ass Clowns?

If he takes them head on (the bull by the horns so to speak) then he may have a chance to grab some of the Conservative voters...they already like him on his stance on the WOT (albeit they hate him on other stances)...a hard core Rudy may win more votes...

You know what pains me? (Secret zombietime info.) At the exact same time as the Breasts Not Bombs event on Monday, Giuliani was being stalked by Truthers as he gave a speech in San Francisco. I had the inside scoop on both events, and had to make a choice which to cover.

I caved in to public pressure and went for the boobs.

But I still regret not stalking the stalkers at the Giuliani event.

In this case, I hope that you are wrong, Charles.

They will do anything to stop him. I hope he still has that fighting spirit, and will make them sorry they ever started. He seldom backs down. He is not a perfect candidate, but then there is no such thing, and I am voting for him in the primary, as he is, IMHO, the best choice for our future.

It is going to be the ugliest campaign in my life, and that is saying something for someone who grew up in Boston. It is just going to drag on, and get nastier and nastier, and I guess the last man standing wil win. Rudy will not go down without a battle of massive proportions.

Rudy won't knuckle under. Have you heard him on talk radio recently or read his 12 committments to America? He's taken a hard-ass stance against terrorism and front-groups like CAIR. He's a lawyer so he knows the legal game their playing and can beat them at it.

Charles, you and other bloggers are destroying a National Institution.

Chicago-based Tribune is the nation's No. 2 newspaper company by circulation and publishes 11 newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and Newsday.

Weak classified advertising was a big factor behind the declines at both companies, falling 13.4 percent at the Times company and 17.7 percent at Tribune.

Classified advertising, long a cash cow for the industry, has been hurt by competition from online alternatives to newspapers and by weakness in the housing market, which affects real estate ads. The Times also noted softness in advertising for banking and other financial services.

Dear Mr. Giuliani
The Saudi-funded radical Islamist front group CAIR, which has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding trial, has issued an action alert seeking to intimidate you against using the phrase "Islamic terrorism". I hope that you will not be intimidated by that campaign. The jihadis themselves say that what they are doing is on behalf of Islam, and since they carry out terrorism, it is perfectly reasonable to refer to them as Islamic terrorists, and their actions as Islamic terrorism. Continue to speak the unvarnished truth, and do not be intimidated.

A blast from the past....
Muslims Criticize Mayor Giuliani for Rejection of Disaster Donation
From: CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations)

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Washington-based Islamic advocacy group, today criticized New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani for rejecting $10 million World Trade Center attack disaster-relief check from a Saudi Arabian prince who said in a statement that America "should re-examine its policies in the Middle East and adopt a more balanced stance toward the Palestinian cause."

Giuliani called the remarks by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, a nephew of King Fahd and one of the world's wealthiest men, "highly irresponsible and very, very dangerous." He directed that the prince's donation to the Twin Towers Fund be rejected.

(In his remarks Prince Alwaleed also offered condolences for the victims of the World Trade Center attack and condemned terrorism in all its forms. In another statement issued today, Prince Alwaleed reiterated his support for Palestinian rights.)

"It is unconscionable that Mayor Giuliani would sacrifice the interests of the victims of these horrific attacks in order to score points with the domestic lobby for a foreign government. (DA JOOOS - ed)The mayor's actions are in opposition to President Bush's repeated warnings not to turn the fight against terrorism into a war against Muslims or Arabs," said CAIR Board Chairman Omar Ahmad.

I think this time CAIR may have bitten off more than they can chew. After all, Giuliani is both an ex-prosecutor and made his bones in politics in New York City, which is sort of like a cross between Chicago and Cleveland (except that all the movers and shakers in the Big Apple's political circles walk around with a chip on each shoulder). Somehow I don't see this intimidating him. (Irritating him is another matter entirely.) This smack attack by CAIR may go down big with the Koslings and the rest of the nutroots crowd, but what it mainly does is bring CAIR into the purview of the Federal Election Commission, as this could be construed as an attempt to intimidate a candidate. And since he's a candidate for President (at least potentially), if this ends up with the usual run of threats from CAIR's supporters- can you say

Hello. We're from the United States Secret Service, and we have a few questions we'd like to ask you.

And a warrant.

And if that happens- can you say, "RICO"?

/imagine the possibilities

Not entirely OT:
Abbas was the target of assassination attempts by Hamas. The reason? Because he's seen as dealing with Israel.

PA security officials here told The Jerusalem Post several shots were fired at Abbas's home. Abbas was inside the house, but neither he nor any of his family members were hurt, they said.

Following the incident, PA security forces launched a manhunt for the shooters who, eyewitnesses said, managed to escape in a car toward the northern part of the city.

"Several shots were fired near the home of President Abbas," said a senior PA security official. "I don't know if this was an assassination attempt, but it's the first incident of its kind here and that's why we are taking it very seriously."

Another top security official said he was convinced Hamas was behind the shooting.

Global patterns show that terrorism is not exclusive to any one group.

You mean the daily news is wrong. We get a Basque blowing up a hillside, the Tamil Tigers using Cessna's to bomb an empty air field and MUSLIMS killing a defenseless Christian Missionary and killing 100 people celebrating a soccer victory. I would say terrorists are in fact Muslims. Muslims are terrorists. Islam is a terroristic cult.

You don't go far enough. I want, no, DEMAND, that the following be accommodated as well:

Jewish students should have kosher food, "wires" no busing, holy days off.
Catholics should have CCD brought back, maybe only fish on Fridays, all holy days off.
Adventists should have Worthington products, for example.

I could go on, but the bottom line here is that no one religion should be given any special privileges. A public school just for Jews or Catholics would not be tolerated. People have the choice of attending public or private school. If they want this arabic, moslem BS, then they can pay for it. The state may have an interest in the curricula and that should be watched, but we should not be establishing madrassas here.

124 Blue Chip  Wed, Jul 25, 2007 6:26:30pm

Rudy should tell CAIR to kiss his NY ass – in Macy’s window.

Americans are a pretty reasonable and understanding group of people, but our patience with groups like CAIR will eventually run out.

And then we’ll see who is afraid of whom.

When that day comes, when groups like CAIR are shut down, driven into the shadows of civilized society, treated as the outcasts and enablers and apologist (and perhaps worse) that they are, when the civilized world has had its belly full of bile, hate and threats, when no sympathy exists for the ‘moral equivalence’ crowd, the media and the political leaders who refused to denounce groups like CAIR, who refused to stand up and denounce violent and threatening Muslims (I’m looking at you, flying imams), when the civilized world recognizes and calls Islam what it really is – a death cult and evil – sane, civil, peace loving – God fearing people - the world over, will look back at incidents and tactics like this, and say: “They’ve brought this on themselves!”

I’m fed up with this shit.

Jihad terrorism is done in the name of Islam. It's terrorism done by Islamists, for Islam. Its practitioners consider it a form of holy war, on behalf of Islam. So it is perfectly reasonable to refer to it as Islamic terrorism.

The fact that somebody else may carry out terrorism on behalf of some other cause does not subtract from the relevance of referring to Islamic terrorism.

As it turns out, Islamic terrorism is a major threat to the free world.

CAIR wants to prevent it from being defined, so that the public has no consciousness of it, which would hamper efforts to fight against it.

There are an estimated seven million Muslims in America and some 1.2 billion worldwide.

"Estimated"?

Bzzzzt.

Wrong.

Fabricated:

CAIR's big lie on America's Muslim population

CAIR has sponsored a "study" which IBD exposes as a fraud.

To come up with its own figure, it [CAIR] hired a "respected scholar" by the name of Ihsan Bagby to lead its "study." But Bagby not only lacks independence - he's a CAIR board member - he's not even a trained demographer.

Worse, he admits the number he arrived at is a "guesstimation." Here's how he came up with it:

... but what it mainly does is bring CAIR into the purview of the Federal Election Commission, as this could be construed as an attempt to intimidate a candidate. And since he's a candidate for President (at least potentially), if this ends up with the usual run of threats from CAIR's supporters- can you say

Hello. We're from the United States Secret Service, and we have a few questions we'd like to ask you. And a warrant.

And if that happens- can you say, "RICO"?

anyone read the link toward the bottom of the CAIR action alert (where it says "FOR BACKGROUND ON THIS ISSUE")?

it takes you to an article titled "CAIR Backgrounder: Islam Has No Ties to Terrorism" which was apparently in the Miami Herald, written by Parvez Ahmed (CAIR's chairman). [Link: www.cair.com...]

the second to last sentence reads:

"In a recent Washington Post article, Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security advisor to President Jimmy Carter, called upon moderates, including Muslims, to from a global alliance "to terminate the political conflicts that spawn terrorism.""

since a lot of terrorism is blamed on the existence of Israel, is Parvez openly calling for Israel's "termination"?

Muslim terrorism? Terrorism by Muslims? I can think of some others but they are longer and not so polite.

197 Blue Chip  Wed, Jul 25, 2007 6:55:55pm

Islamic Terrorist?

CAIR should ask the people of: New York, London, Madrid, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Amman, Beirut, Kandahar, Darfur, Casablanca, Washington, Kashmir, Dahab, Mogadishu, Baghdad, Manila, Moscow, Beslan, Jakarta, Bali and so many other places – what they think of the phrase “Islamic terrorists”.

I’m willing to bet the 401-K money the phrase ‘Allah Akbar’ has been heard immediately prior to: the plane crashing, the bomb exploding, the train station, café, school, public square, office building, etc bursting into flames.

But then I’m not into that whole ‘moral/cultural equivalence’ thing either....

This is from the National Intelligence Estimate at this time:
[Link: www.globalsecurity.org...]

We judge the US Homeland will face a persistent and evolving terrorist threat over the next three years. The main threat comes from Islamic terrorist groups and cells, especially al-Qa'ida, driven by their undiminished intent to attack the Homeland...

Rudy Giuliani is able to use the words of the National Intelligence Estimate, and refer to the threat from Islamic terrorist groups and cells. What's wrong with the Democrat candidates, that they are unable to do the same? Throughout the entire Democrat debate, they discussed many things but not a word about Islamic terrorism, as Rudy has pointed out. Shame on them, if they are unable to do so. And cheers and congratulations to Rudy Giuliani, who is able to speak the unvarnished truth.

Does CAIR have a problem with the National Intelligence Estimate, and want them to lie about where the main threat comes from?

In the end Rudy is (or must be) a politician, like all the rest of them. That means his public utterances have to be constrained. . .like it or not.

But even if he can't use the words out of political correctness, you know what's in his heart with respect to the issue of Islamist terrorism, and you know he has the stones to act on it.

257 WeaselZipper  Wed, Jul 25, 2007 7:18:23pm

Oops I forgot this

"Media in general responds much more quickly than ever before. Why shouldn't movies do the same?" said Scott Rudin, a producer of 'STOP LOSS,' which casts Ryan Phillippe as a veteran who defies an order that would send him back to Iraq. The film, he said, was deliberately scheduled to be released in the middle of the presidential election season.

Something Rudy started some time ago was using the phrase the islamist war against us instead of the war on terror. I have heard him talk/answer questions many times and he continues to use that phrase. I like it. It reminds people they are at war with us.

(see link at #243, the National Intelligence Estimate)
Any candidate who would like to speak up about Islamic terrorism but who needs cover can just quote the National Intelligence Estimate:

Key Judgments

We judge the US Homeland will face a persistent and evolving terrorist threat over the next three years. The main threat comes from Islamic terrorist groups and cells, especially al- Qa’ida, driven by their undiminished intent to attack the Homeland and a continued effort by these terrorist groups to adapt and improve their capabilities.

We assess that greatly increased worldwide counterterrorism efforts over the past five years have constrained the ability of al-Qa’ida to attack the US Homeland again and have led terrorist groups to perceive the Homeland as a harder target to strike than on 9/11. These measures have helped disrupt known plots against the United States since 9/11.

* We are concerned, however, that this level of international cooperation may wane as 9/11 becomes a more distant memory and perceptions of the threat diverge.

Isn't it about time that other candidates start speaking about the Islamic terrorist threat that the National Intelligence Estimate indicates is going to be the main threat to the USA during the next three years?

If they want to be taken seriously for the position of President of the USA, and be commander in chief of the armed forces, and principal protector of the American people, and leader of the free world, they cannot be frightened to even speak about what the National Intelligence Estimate says is the main threat.

Which is a shame, because this proves yet again that we settle for the name recognition and the telegenic face. I know Tancredo likely has only a chance at getting a Cabinet spot in an '08 (R) victory, at best, but that doesn't mean he's not the best guy for the job. Why do Americans just "settle" for basically the better of two poor candidates.

re: #320 EE

Ha ha ha.... I know more about 911 in my little fingernail than you'll ever know.

It's a well known fact that Bin Laden was a longtime CIA asset. He was our guy in Afghanistan. The bin laden family builds the US military bases in the middle east. Poppy was sitting next to Osama's brothe in a carlylse group meeting on 911. Carlylse group is one of the biggest miltary industril contractors in the world. They are making hundreds of billions off the War for Terro$.

Osama isn't even wanted by the FBI for 911. They say they don't have any hard evidence he was involved.

re: #330 WeaselZipper

If you look at the way the Lebanese government was set up back in the day, which was a Wednesday BTW, the Christians were the majority and therefore held the majority of government. Thats back when Beirut was truly the gem of the middle east. But as the muslims moved in from the surrounding nations and began to alter not only the religious but ethnic make-up of the country. And as they applied the same techniques we've seen time and time again, the Christians stuck to being pacifists, and ended up having to flee in the long run. And we can all witness what kind of state they're in now.

Lebanon really is a model for any nation thats facing RoP™ issues. *Cough U.K., Italy, France just to name a few*cough*

I've been thinking about the 'Boobs not Bombs' people, and Inflated Scrotum guy, and the such. Just for a minute, while leaving the office, more than that would be wasting brain cells.

Even complete loons like this have to know walking around naked isn't going to change anything. But under the guise of political statement, it lets them indulge in some guilt-free exhibitionism. If Ms. Cooper of the Stretched Coopers Ligaments or Inflated Scrotum guy did that in publi in any other setting, even in whacked-out San Francisco, they'd probably get arrested.

Back to Rudy, he is by far the least conservative of the Repub candidates, the inability to stay married, the donations to Planned Parenthood, but compared to any of the Democrat alternatives, if he is the party nominee, he is the second coming of Reagan. I just hope he chooses a real conservative like Hunter Duncan as VP.

BTW, if Thompson is going to run, I wish he'd get in. I'm starting to wonder why he doesn't want to engage in the debates and the such. He seems to say the right things, but between the short electoral resume', and the non-campaign, I'm starting to wonder about him.

Rudy will not back down one inch to these cretins.

Rudy will attack CAIR for who they are and who they support (like their pre- 911 links to Azzam.com, their unindicted co-conspirator status, their indicted and jailed leaders and keep going.

Rudy will ask who sends CAIR all their money because they sure don't get it from their declining handful of US members.

Cair just handed Rudy the Republican nomination. Republicans will see CAIR as the annti-American organization they are, see Rudy stand up to them and believe all the more that Rudy is the right man for 08.

At the base of CAIR's accusation is an antisemitic slur and you can expect Rudy, Republicans and normal Americans to resent CAIR's false innuendo for what it is. CAIR picked the wrong former mayor of NYC to call out on the carpet.

The pro-Israel lobby cuts across all faiths and all parties and all classes in the USA. The very hateful ignorance of Hooper is a case in point. I am proud that most people on KOS and this blog think Israel has an absolute right to exist (while the KOSsacks allow such bilge, the overwhelming number of comments go against the anti-Israel sentiment).

Just watch how Rudy handles this, then support him for what he is- a solid leader, a good Republican and the party's best shot at keeping adult leadership in the White House.

If you subscribe to any of the ideas that this blog advocates, watch how Rudy handles this challenge and then get out your checkbooks and volunteer for his campaign so this country has the best leadership possible.

If Bush fails to stop Iran, do you think Rudy will let them get the bomb? Would Mrs. Clinton take America to war against Iran to stop them from getting the bomb or drive them out of the business of terror? If Billy did nothing to stop them after al Khobar (personally ordered by Khameini!), do you think Hillary will? Do not kid yourself. Even if Bush has finished Iran, we still need a President who will ensure that radical terror regimes do not re-emerge.

I repeat: Rudy does not cave in. He ripped up a check from one of CAIR's top backers, watch how he handles these mendacious snakes.

Something for Charles and the other peddlers
What makes Edwards sweat?

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The pressure of a hard-fought presidential campaign may not make John Edwards sweat, but riding a dozen miles with seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong sure does.

The former North Carolina senator joined Armstrong for approximately a 12 mile leg of The Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) Thursday. Armstrong, who is participating in the entire weeklong 472 mile week-long ride, invited all the presidential candidates to partake in the event but Edwards is the only one who agreed, according to the Des Moines Register.

Edwards, drenched in sweat following the ride, admitted he is not a particularly good bike rider and said Armstrong “had to show me how to shift gears.”

While Edwards is the only candidate who agreed to suit up along the championship cyclist, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden’s wife, Jill, will was also scheduled to join Armstrong Wednesday and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s sons will partake in the event Friday, according to the Register.

Armstrong is hosting back to back presidential forums for both the Democratic and Republican candidates at the end of August to discuss cancer issues.

There are no kosher delis up here in Upstate NY (I'm a mischlinge, so it doesn't have to be kosher, just good). Two of the delicacies i remember from my youth were spiced beef and pickled green tomatoes. I have given up on trying to find spiced beef. Found it in delis in boston, but that was years ago.
My other favorite is pickled green tomatoes. found them once in a while in pittsburgh, pa, but there's nothing, NOTHING, up here (I'm 26 miles from Canada).
I get down to NYC 3-4 times a year for the opera and dill up at Artie's on B-way and 82, but i miss them. I've got 5 healthy tomato plants that are coming in and i think i'll have a slew of tomatoes that i could pickle, if I knew how. Does anyone have a recipe for pickling green tomatoes? If so, please email me. thanks and good night.

I don't know about pickled green tomatoes, but FRIED green tomatoes? mmmmm.... That's some home cookin' there.

What can I say? I like Rudy. I'm not too fond of his Second Amendment stance but, as he was the mayor of NYC during a very troubled time, I can almost understand it.

that's right. he's the best we have on terrorism. he's seen and lived it.

I was impressed by what I read in The Prince of the City by Fred Siegel about his tenure before 9-11-01. That city was about to go belly-up before Rudy took over.

Thanks to his administration then, and his leadership both then and after 9-11-01, NYC is a place I'd like to live in. (Of course, only on the Upper East Side, right on the Park. I'm a picky bitch.)

416 Ed Mahmoud's Sock Puppet  Wed, Jul 25, 2007 8:03:16pm

I do trust Rudy to do foreign policy better than any Dem by a far-sight.

I was once completely optimistic Bush would never let Iran go nuclear, but now, with him having a hostile Congress, worn down by a hostile and deceitful MSM, and having taken advisors and Cabinet members from his father's national security team, like Gates, and apparently agreeing to negotiate with Iran to see if they will allow a graceful surrender from Iraq (the surge seems to be targetted much more against Sunni and al Qaeda forces than Iran's man al-Sadr), I'd say if Israel doesn't bomb the Iranian facilities, with a much smaller military, flying from much farther away, a nuclear Iran as the de facto power in the entire M.E. (unless Saudi can get weaponized nukes before Iran arranges the fall, one way or the other, of the House of Saud, which instead means a nuclear arms race between different Islamic sects, both with strong links to terror) is a given.

And with Ol'merde running Israel, and apparently agreeing to the Blair-Saudi dismemberment for peace plan, I don't know about an Israeli strike against Iran either.

ISLAM HAS NO TIES TO TERRORISM

Parvez Ahmed

[Parvez Ahmed is chairman of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.]

Five years into President Bush’s declaration of the “global war on terrorism,” the latest State Department report shows a 25 percent increase in worldwide terrorist attacks over the previous year. Terrorism is an abominable tactics, not an ideology. Thus declaring “war” against it, while politically expeditious, is in reality temerarious, as it only attacks the symptom without addressing the cause.

Global patterns show that terrorism is not exclusive to any one group. Between 1980 and 2003, the world’s leader in suicide terrorism has been the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, a group that recruits from the predominantly Hindu Tamil population in Sri Lanka. I wonder how many of their problems stem from allowing so many of "those people from that made-up country" into their midst.

If it would help to drive "those people" out, they've got my support. If they (the Lebanese) can demonstrate that they are responsible and truly on our side, then I would throw truck loads of cash and weapons their way. They would be the supreme counter-balance to that asshat Assad in Syria. And it would be nice to see the return of a stable government and economy over there.

I'm woefully unfamiliar with the Druze. Can you elaborate?

"All of a sudden after three days . . . they were suspending people, they were firing people," Schire said. "Some of the people even had to give up praying at all for fear of being fired."

Mohamed Rage, chairman of the Omaha Somali-American Community Organization, said: "They are treating (the Somalis) like criminals now — anyone who prays is a criminal."

According the Terrorism Knowledge Base (tkb.org), between 1968 and 2007, the largest purveyors of terrorism have been groups affiliated with communist/socialist or nationalist/separatist ideology.

Despite this, Islam continues to be conflated with terrorism.

Notice the argument is based exclusively on vague references. No numbers. No clear statements of which groups fall in which categories.

Is he claiming that the Tamil Tigers have launched more attacks than Muslim terrorists? Killed more people? And what are they being compared to--the leading Muslim terrorist group or all Muslim terrorist groups?

Then there is the claim that "the largest purveyors of terrorism have been groups affiliated with communist/socialist or nationalist/separatist ideology." That's an awfully wide net. Are we supposed to believe that Palestinian and Indian Muslim terrorists are nationalists and that all of the stuff about martyrdom, paradise, and Allah is beside the point?

This is just propaganda. First they try to excuse or disguise Muslim terrorism. Then they try to brand legitimate self-defense as "terrorism." It's all to cover up what the entire world can see plainly: that there are Muslim terrorists active in dozens of countries, and a huge minority of Muslims are sympathetic to terrorism.

I left NYC in '89, at the of the Dink's reign. Sorry I missed Rudy's two terms, but I hope to make up for in Nov 08 by voting for him. And I was there in '84, on the upper West Side, where we had to chase the hookers and derelicts off the street corners and out of the doorways of schools (Collegate West End, I lived on W77th and Riverside) and off the sidewalks of Broadway. Riverside Park was haven of crack dealers and users, instead of the wonderful urban oasis it should have been.

It was a tough time to live there, and when I left, there was no indication that things were going to get better. NYC can only thank God that Rudy came along when they really needed him.

A woman screaming “you’re not a real conservative, sir” was removed by police from a welcoming reception for likely GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson Wednesday morning. A second protester was also taken from the room.

Houston police officers escorted the woman — as well as a man — from the hangar at Hobby Airport, where Thompson was shaking hands with a crowd of supporters. They were not arrested.

No way I have time to catch up on this thread, so I'll just say that I have e-mailed Guiliani's Web team expressing my support for him against CAIR, reminding them that CAIR has less than three thousand members and is an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding trial.
Don't think it was necessary, but wanted Rudy to know that we support him against these Islamic weasels.

You're not in a private chat room, folks. People who are not your friends are reading your comments. Please keep this in mind

That whole thing about "Unless you're ready to read it on the front page of tomorrow's paper, keep it to yourself."

I think that's a good rule all the time, even in the "private" chat rooms.

Remember the movie "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison"? The (hunky) sailor and (gorgeous) nun trapped alone on an island in the Pacific? The sailor comes on to her, of course, saying "who will know?" The nun says "Heaven will know, Mr. Allison." :) This is called Catholic guilt, which I have. Even when I dislike someone (I don't like Mr. Hooper, for example), I surely don't wish him harm - sin alert! (I may cuss if I"m really angry, but then I feel guilty.)

Not to mention those of us who were kids in the Bambi era remember the Thumper Rule.

Better late than never, I guess. Here is the email I just sent:

Rudy Guiliani is one of the very few persons in public life, let alone in the race for President, who recognizes the need to call Islamic terrorism by its name, and has demonstrated the willingness to stand up against attempted bribery (the Saudi donation that he refused shortly after 9/11). This kind of clear-headed courage is the primary reason I have supported him in this election.

Please encourage him to continue to stand up to these barbarians, and fight this outrageous action by the inappropriately-named Council on American-Islamic Relations. I would urge that he come up with a response as quickly and as publicly as possible, for this is one of those moments that defines a candidate clearly and succinctly to the voting public.

Thank you,

NYC can only thank God that Rudy came along when they really needed him.

yes we survived all that. no one had the vision to fix it until rudy came along. he just decided that anarchy wasn't going to prevail anymore. and you know, he caught so much hell for that from the libs. unbelievable. but look at the city today. sometimes i think it's alittle too cleaned up. Exactly. I hate to say it, but "star power" may be the best thing both Rudy and Fred will have going for them. We've got to motivate everybody, and that's damn hard to do when everybody's gotten worn out a year before the actual voting.

Actually, I think it will boil down to Rudy vs Obama. God help us every one if its Mitt vs Hillary. As attractive as Mitt is as a candidate, she and her political machine would chew him up like a veg-o-matic.

Okay, not having watched Bambi (or if I did, I've long since forgotten having done so), I gotta ask...

What's the Thumper Rule?

THE THUMPER RULE - In Walt Disney's classic 1942 animated movie "Bambi," there's a scene where the little deer first meets his rabbit friend, Thumper. As Bambi takes his first steps, he trips and falls in front of Thumper and his rabbit family.

Thumper asks, "What's the matter? Did the young prince fall down? Is he hurt?"

As Bambi rises, wobbling, his mother answers, "No, he's all right."

Thumper continues, "He doesn't walk very good, does he?"

"Thumper!," mother rabbit reprimands.

"Yes, Mama?," says Thumper.

"What did your father tell you this morning?," asks his mother.

Thumper sheepishly repeats, "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all."

Thumper and Bambi

I mentioned 'star power' because I think that is what (unfortunately) motivates a significant percentage of voters. I completely agree that we need an intelligent, clear-headed fighter. I have been supporting Fred, but if the Debbie Schlussel column (see next thread up) has truth to it, there's something very bad going on with Fred.

I've read (sorry no links) some analysts that think that Boomberg would actually draw votes away from the Donks more than the Republicans. I dunno. That's a tough one. I hope he doesn't decide to run.

Well, we have a lot of customers in New Jersey, mostly along the NJ Turnpike. Not too much in Boston.

Hardest place to drive a truck is in Brooklyn, especially near Bedford Stuyvesant (and yep, I made a delivery once right in the center of that hellhole)

Boston and Joisey are the worst places to drive, IMHO...

Bed-Sty? The hospital where I trained almost 50 years ago was right on the cusp. I never had any trouble then. It was a crime area, but compared to now? Now it is a no-mans' land, and Brooklyn Jewish Hospital is gone.

Been on the Kosciuszko Bridge and/or the BQE? I sympathize. We have to use the bridge to get to our daughter, son in law and baby grandson, as they are in Williamsburg. That damned bridge..I hate it.

When I go to LI, I head across the BQE to the Throggs Neck Bridge to the LIE and bust ass all the way past Massapequa. I dont think you can take a large car across the Kosciuzko.

We may pass you one day on the Throggs Neck....we go to Westbury from here to see our son, DIL and granddaughter.

At rush hour? Driving is actually crawling along. We avoid it scrupulously.

LI was once potato farms, especially in Suffolk County, until WWII, and the need for housing for the returning heroes...Levittown was the first large development. Now? The roads are not wide enough, nor are there enough. It is frightening to think of a massive hurricane, and trying to evacuate so many people.

There are still farms, but the population density is unreal..and the number of shopping malls.

But they are not thinking about inertia. They could go on a losing streak and more & more they are being exposed as a terrorist front group.

My email to Giuliani's campaign:

Dear Mr. Giuliani,

I am writing in support of your honest and courageous criticism of the Democratic presidential candidates for their failure to use the words "Islamic terrorists" during the Democratic debates. Although I am a registered Democrat, the combination of your liberal social policies and your strong stance on our nation's defense against Islamic terror could very well lead me to vote Giuliani in 2008 if you secure the Republican nomination. I urge you to maintain your courageous and vital stance on our nation's safety, even in the face of pressure from Islamist groups like CAIR, whose sinking national membership belies their claim to represent our Muslim countrymen.

All the best,

545 Ezekiel2517  Thu, Jul 26, 2007 8:47:57am
