Jemaah Islamiyah in San Jose

Sat, Aug 4, 2007 at 8:29:50 am PDT

Californian Arrested on Terror Charges.

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 3 — Federal authorities said Friday that a California man has been arrested on terrorism-related charges and indicted along with his Malaysian brother, a fugitive and suspected leader of Jemaah Islamiyah, the group blamed for killing 202 people in the 2002 bombing of a nightclub in Bali, Indonesia.

Rahmat Abdhir, 43, a United States citizen of Malaysian descent living in San Jose, was arrested at his workplace in Sunnyvale on Thursday after officials issued a 16-count indictment charging him with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, lying to federal officials and contributing goods and services to a “global terrorist.”

The indictment also names his brother, Zulkifli Abdhir, 41, a Malaysian citizen who has eluded capture since 2003.

Here's what the bombing was like for victims
They used a VBIED, or car bomb outside the nightclub.

Like Al Qaeda, they use coordinated bombing attacks:

The 2002 Bali bombing occurred on October 12, 2002 in the tourist district of Kuta on the Indonesian island of Bali. The attack was the deadliest act of terrorism in the history of Indonesia, killing 202 people, 164 of whom were foreign nationals (including 88 Australians), and 38 Indonesian citizens. A further 209 were injured.

The attack involved the detonation of three bombs: a backpack-mounted device carried by a suicide bomber; a large car bomb, both of which were detonated in or near popular nightclubs in Kuta; and a third much smaller device detonated outside the United States consulate in Denpasar, causing only minor damage.

They also bombed a lot of Churches in Indonesia on Christmas Eve...

VIOLENT HISTORY: Bakery associates have been accused of crimes, making threats

When police raided Your Black Muslim Bakery and three homes, and arrested seven people Friday on suspected involvement in three homicides, including Thursday's slaying of Oakland Post Editor Chauncey Bailey, it was the latest chapter in a history of violence and arrests that have been linked to the longtime Oakland group.

Here's the DOJ write-up on his bro:

Specially Designated Global Terrorist and His Brother Indicted for Providing Material Support to Terrorists
WASHINGTON – A fugitive U.S.-designated terrorist, who is the subject of a $5 million U.S. reward and is believed to be at large in the Philippines, has been indicted on terrorism-related charges in the Northern District of California along with his brother in the U.S., who allegedly provided funds and equipment to him even as the fugitive evaded capture and battled Philippine troops, the Justice Department announced today.

The 16-count indictment and an arrest in the case this morning were announced by Kenneth L. Wainstein, Assistant Attorney General for National Security; Scott N. Schools, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California; Joseph Billy, Jr., FBI Assistant Director for Counterterrorism; and Julie L. Myers, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Zulkifli Abdhir, aka “Zulkifli Bin Abdul Hir, aka “Hulagu,” aka “Marwan,” age 41, a fugitive believed to be in the Philippines, is charged in the indictment with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and providing material support to terrorists. In September 2003, the U.S. government designated Abdhir as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist pursuant to Executive Order 13224. In March 2007, the State Department added him to the most-wanted list of its Rewards for Justice program and authorized a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest or conviction, noting that he was a member of the central command of Jemaah Islamiyah and was believed to be involved in multiple deadly bomb attacks in the Philippines.

Rahmat Abdhir, aka “Sean Kasem,” aka “Sean Kalimin,” age 43, is a U.S. citizen living in San Jose, Calif., and the brother of Zulkifli Abdhir. Rahmat Abdhir is charged in the indictment with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, providing material to terrorists, contributing goods and services to a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (his brother), and false statements. FBI agents arrested Rahmat Abdhir this morning outside his place of employment in Sunnyvale, Calif. He made his initial appearance today in federal court in San Jose.

“With today’s arrest and indictment, we have closed off a channel by which an American citizen was allegedly funding and supplying a fugitive designated terrorist with two-way radios and other materials for his operations overseas,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security Kenneth L. Wainstein. “As this case demonstrates, we will bring the full force of the law against anyone who uses the resources of our economy to support overseas terrorism.”

U.S. Attorney Scott N. Schools said, “This indictment is the product of the extraordinary efforts that FBI, ICE, CBP and their federal, state and local partners have made to assure that the country is protected from future terrorist acts and that individuals who sympathize with terrorists in other parts of the world do not find comfort in the United States. I appreciate the investigative efforts of the FBI and ICE, and the prosecutorial efforts and expertise provided by the Department's National Security Division.”

My first thoughts exactly. If our government deports these guys back to the scene of the crime in Indonesia, they'll get a gentle slap on the wrist, be given artillery and be fitted with bomb vests, then sent on their way with allah's blessings to continue the murder and mayhem.

Thanos.

I think there will be several "levels" to this story.

1. A journalist was murdered in cold blood investigating this group
2. The group is now "allegedly" tied to his murder
3. It's been decades since the last journalist was killed because of a story he was working on
4. How will the MSM handle this story? After all, he was... one of their own.
5. How will CAIR handle this?
6. The journalist was a black. What will the black community think about one of their own allegedly murdered by this "splinter group?"

Gotta do some sorting first.

Each candidate for deportation will be asked to do the following:

1. Repeat this: "Allah is a recycled false god and Mohammad is a false prophet."

2. Eat and swallow a portion of a ham sandwich.

Those who comply get a list of real churches they could join.

Those who don't comply get the one way plane ticket out.

Read up on Al Takfir Wal Hijra, a theologically extreme extension of the Saudi Arabia's Wahabbi doctrines.

A major element of Takfir religious practice is subterfuge. The threat of Takfir is that its cold, heartless killers could easily be the boy or girl next door. Takfir Wal Hijra members are permitted to disregard the injunctions of Islamic law in order to blend into infidel societies.

In other words, Takfirs can have sex with loose women, drink alcohol, eat pork and do whatever else they feel is appropriate to advance their mission.

I've been reading about the Takfiris for a while. Their name is usually translated by the media as "excommunication and migration". It's more accurately translated as "undercover iinfiltration".

One aspect of Islam

Hadith Volume 4, Book 53, Number 352:

Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "Allah guarantees him who strives in His Cause and whose motivation for going out is nothing but Jihad in His Cause and belief in His Word, that He will admit him into Paradise (if martyred) or bring him back to his dwelling place, whence he has come out, with what he gains of reward and booty."

Note the bolded part above in hadith 352. The one and only guaranteed way into Muslim paradise is to be killed while fighting in Jihad.

Also in the Qur'an 9:111:

Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.

Translation: Allah has made a contract with the Muslims: in exchange for the Muslim's lives and property, mandated to be used to fight Jihad, they will be rewarded in Paradise. This is central to Islam -- in my readings of the Qur'an this is the one and only circumstance where I've seen Allah binding himself to a contract

A Takfiri may do ANYTHING he wants, because if he dies in Jihad, he is guaranteed Paradise regardless of his actions
