I'd be more surpised at seing a youtube video re: NON-radicalized British Muslims.
Or any other NON-radicalized Muslim from any other nation. Seems they don't get out much

Using their own words, and own actions to present them as anything other than peace-loving hippies, is nothing less than outright ISLAMOPHOBIA, no matter how factually accurate.

England has already gone so far that no reasonable solution can be foreseen for them.
But can we at least learn from their disaster in Canada and in the US?
I am not optimistic.

Just talking to a Kiwi that has close ties to Britain, he says that a combination of Socialism that has dumbed down the citizenry and allowed crime to run rampant (and disarmed the citizens in their own homes) and Islam, have pretty much doomed Britain.

A STATEMENT ON SCOTT THOMAS:We've talked to military personnel directly involved in the events that Scott Thomas Beauchamp described, and they corroborated his account as detailed in our statement. When we called Army spokesman Major Steven F. Lamb and asked about an anonymously sourced allegation that Beauchamp had recanted his articles in a sworn statement, he told us, "I have no knowledge of that." He added, "If someone is speaking anonymously [to The Weekly Standard], they are on their own." When we pressed Lamb for details on the Army investigation, he told us, "We don't go into the details of how we conduct our investigations."

I saw this program last night.
It is a disgusting indictment of the British political classes who have allowed Islamofascism to fester unchecked in the UK, and have let thousands of Islamists into the country; the British left who cynically supported Islamic extremism to further their vendetta against Israel; and the politically correct British media who failed to carry out their duty of informing the nation.
The words 'stable door' and 'bolted' spring to mind. It will take a generation to put this right. And the first step should be to neutralize our own dhimmis.

I was listening to the brian sussman show on KSFO last night and he had a muslim on that had worked along side imams for years. You should have heard him. The muslim came across as a really nice guy who I would probably converse with and never suspect his beliefs. But he kept talking.....and Sussman kept drilling like a dentist...ow!
Sussman kept pressing him if he agreed with how wahhabism treats women and that guy was just like our liberals are like when they are asked if they want us to win the war in iraq..they can't utter the word YES. This muslim could not utter the words *wahhabism is wrong*...he kept saying..that is their culture and it's up for debate. Sussman was in disbelief..he's like we are talking lives here...and you think the murder and cutting for minor offenses should be debated?
The muslim went on to say how infidels should not be held to the same standard of muslims but Sussman again pressed him..so if muslims gain more and more voting seats into our political process, what will we do with thier pressing that the gov't should be governed under sharia? The muslim said something to the effect of, well, then we'll have two different laws..and then he began to tap dance and not answer.
I'm telling you folks..moderate my ass. While this guy might not pick up a machete to cut our head off nor strap on a bomb belt, he sure the hell will NOT say it is wrong.
THAT is the problem with muslims......what crystal ball do people have? Let me know, then I may relax around them just a litte. Until then..stay the HELL away from my family..cause your koran says I need to be dead....can't be any more black and white than that.

Dispatches: Muslim viewers - make your voices heard!
Here are some points you could make in your own words:
1) Thank the programme-makers for highlighting the central role of foreign policy in causing radicalisation, and the government's refusal to acknowledge this fact.
2) Complain that the trailers and promotion of this programme were sensationalised and inflammatory, portraying Muslims as a threat.
....
- The Islamic prohibitions against harming civilians should have been mentioned.

I noticed a very interesting book twice in the background of this. When the British woman convert was speaking, Milestones by Sayyid Qutb is in the background. And at the bookstore when the dude is pointing out different books the top shelf has Milestones by Sayyid Qutb. Lots of copies.
I believe that is the book that inspired Zawhahiri's radicalism. It's the Mein Kampf of Islamic Radicalism

Its "radicalized" that I have a problem with.
I used to say that too..but then I have kept my ears open to really listening to *moderates* talk and what I hear them saying is they support sharia and do not condemn wahhabism and this is over several years of listening..not just one source.
I liken moderate muslims that will not utter the words *wahhabism and radical stuff is wrong* or *hamas/hez are terrorist groups* to the liberals not wanting to utter the words *we want the usa to win*. They are trying to damage this country.
Now if you want to talk muslim apostates, I do believe some of them exist and the crystal ball would be where to see which one doesn't know what their koran teaches nor follows it?
I guess my point is, we often hear how these radicals are in the minority. I challenge that to the media and politicians that spew this nonsense. They fail to take into consideration those *moderate* muslims who pave the way for the radicals in easing up on whatever avenues would slow the radicals down, whether that be excusing, staying silent, or infiltrating our systems to water them down.

After reading about Islam at various sites, books and listening to them I have come to the conclusion that it is incompatible with democracy. They have an agenda of world domination and will say and do anything to achieve it. History bears this out, witness Charles Martel and John Sobieski. They understand only force and as they grow in numbers will subvert anything that stands in their way like Christianity, Democracy, The Rule of Law etc.
Why is this so hard to understand?

You misunderstood my post.
I was saying that it isn't radicalized Muslims versus moderate ones...but instead Muslims vs. "Reform" Muslims, or those NOT practicing the religion.
They aren't "radicalized" Muslims, they are practicing Muslims.
Until Islam creates (or goes back) to an Islam that is & can be interpreted differently (as Christianity and Judaism are) this will always be the case.
I've read the Koran, I know what it says.
As for the "tiny minority"...Wrath says: WHO CARES. I don't care if it is 1% or 30% or 80%. Whatever % it is it is causing a significant threat to me and my family! If I have to break a few eggs to make this omelet.....well so be it.

Kos crows.....
Sad and ridiculous
by kos
The DLC doesn't want a victorious Democratic Party unless such victories happen using their formula. We've been there, done that, and it simply didn't work. Even working out of their own playbook, we couldn't get that magical majority of the popular vote. We lost control of the House and the Senate. Things truly seemed hopeless. We as a movement sprung from those failures.
So we arrived on the scene. We didn't flinch from our position on the war. We held the line on social security, even as the Very Serious People told us it was irresponsible. We championed Dean when we were told it would kill the party. We championed Lamont when we were told it would cost us the Senate. We celebrated Nancy Pelosi when we were told we would be demonized as "San Francisco liberals".
....
We helped build this majority. Not the DLC's 350 or so members. This is no longer their party. And as such, we can look forward to finally being truly competitive for years to come.
I have to hand it to him; he did pretty much destroy the DLC. In doing so he's driven the already weak Democrats further to the left. I don't see it working out well for them but I've been wronf before.

Thanks for clarifying your post.
My chastising tone in my comment is really directed toward the distortion that the media and politicians give to this subject, not you of course.
I guess I also like to throw in the distinction that there are 3 types of muslims: 1) extremists 2) those who silently support them and 3) apostates...basically meaning they are muslim in name only and know nothing about what they believe because if they did, they would be number 2's at the least or be damned to hell.
I fear if this distinction is not made, our politicians and media make a few mistakes that will surely put us under or make this more bloody of a fight.
a) they legitimize islam as a bonafide religion which it isn't
b) we tailor laws to accommodate them when really we don't want number 1 OR number 2 in our free land..and number 3 isn't a real muslim so we need to stop the accommodations and pcness for them and treat them like any other whacked out cult with another name.

YUSUFALI: But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).
But their version of "peace" means us submitting to sharia and Islamic rule. Similar to when they condemn "all terrorism against innocents" which never means non-Muslims. The definition of "fighting oppression" is the same: the infidel being laid low as dhimmis under sharia.
They can string together "we want peace without oppression and condemn all terrorism against innocents" and still plan to blow your ass to kingdom come.

Meh, I only watched the first part and half of the second (short on time at the moment), but so far I’m not impressed with this video. While what these islamo-morons are saying is indeed disgusting, the presenter seems so far clueless. First he spends five minutes of the show talking about how jihad is inseparable from the ideology of islam, but then later he says jihad was “dormant” until the mean ol’ CIA “revived” it in Afghanistan in the 80s. That is compete bullshit. It’s just more of this ‘if only we didn’t do X, this wouldn’t be happening’ dhimmi way of thinking (conveniently vilifying the US before a British audience). Islam’s totalitarian ambitions have been on an uninterrupted, steady advance since the end of the ottoman empire. Unless the video changes as it goes on (I’ll watch more later) to me it reeks of collaborationism.

Wait! ISLAM IS A BONAFIDE RELIGION,and many of its aspects should be protected under the First Amendment. HOWEVER, that does not mean that we have to protect or accept the aspects of Islam (or any other religion) that is contrary to our founding principles as Americans, or other Laws of the United States (such as Hate Speech, Treason, etc.)
But not all religions are the same. (which should seen obvious).

The leader of a Muslim advocacy group who has been talking with Megahed's family said the two were heading to North Carolina to celebrate Mohamed's birthday, which was Sunday.
"Family members are very concerned, shocked about what has developed," said Ahmed Bedier, executive director of the Tampa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The contents of the trunk might have been part of the celebration, he said.
An affidavit from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said officers from the bomb squad determined that pipe bombs were in the trunk. Pipe bombs are homemade explosives, and making or having them is a felony.
Mohamed told the arresting officer he used materials he bought at a Wal-Mart, according to the affidavit.

No one will never convince me ever that islam is a bonafide religion....they would convince me in a heartbeat it was a bonafide cult that celebrates death though!
And people thought the heaven's gate cult was weird..ha!

An affidavit from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said officers from the bomb squad determined that pipe bombs were in the trunk. Pipe bombs are homemade explosives, and making or having them is a felony.

Of course, even the "incline towards peace" leaves us as "the enemy" for future generations.
Now they're trying to force the dhimmis and unbelievers to refer to their mass murders as "hirabi" and "haraba."
Meanwhile back in Saudi Arabia they'll keep teaching their school children that it's A-OK to murder unbelievers. Heck, sometimes it's a religious duty. And the Saudis have exported their propaganda literally everywhere including every American university and elementary classroom. We should know better than to trod our unclean selves on "Muslim land" after all.
But nobody asks what isn't Muslim land. Big oversight.

I have to go...but what I am saying is this.
You might not like what they preach, you might not agree with anything they say, their religion might be contrary to Christianity or Judaism, or Buddhism, as it is based on war, violence, conquest, submission, etc., directly in the text, and is also a political movement, but it is a bona fide religion.
More importantly, its "bonefideness" as a religion is irrelevant as to how the U.S can respond to it. There are laws that protect against, violence, murder, hate speech, hiring to do murder, advocacy towards murder, and treason. These laws are not contrary to the "freedom of religion" or "freedom of speech" maintained in the 1st Amendment and could be used to counter the aspects of Islam that contain these illegal activities.
Rastafarians are not allowed to smoke pot, even though they state it is part of their religion, and Satanists are not allowed to conduct human sacrifices, even though they state that it is part of their religion. (yes, I know that certain special situations have been made for Native American Tribes and peyote)
ok must go now.

To clarify on the part that I think is wrong in your post wrath, it's not about me not liking what they preach nor that it is contrary to christianity..I could give two craps about that. Plenty of regular cults exist that do that and religions to boot.
I'm sick of the double standard that people do with islam..look at other death cults I mentioned and how they are talked about in the media/by politicians/by normal people like you and I and then look at islam and how it's almost romanticized in those venues.
While I agree with the legal stickies of this problem, my point is..we need to call it what it is..death cult and start to make sure people know what they are preaching in their koran. If we don't, I fear *we the people* (talking in general) will take back our country and it will be a very bloody civil war in the future.
If the other two death cults I mentioned were still alive today and recruiting, I can almost bet you we'd have laws to deal with islam already.....but since we can't call islam what it is...anarchy could possibly happen before the congress is done debating about laws for 20 years to contain this problem. The congress can't even secure our border......ahh the times we live in :( .

No you aren't. Not all Muslims in England are "radicalized".Its "radicalized" that I have a problem with.
When I see the Muslims protesting the death of innocent NON-Muslims, I'll agree with you. Until then, I'll lump the "non-radicalized" silent majority in with the rest of them. Interesting video. We really need to find alternative energy sources so we can reduce our dependence on the Middle East. There is nothing I would love more than to pull out of the region and let them have at it. I am so sick of all the double standard whinging. I find it interesting that many Muslims expect us to change our culture and laws to suit them yet have a hissy fit if we expect the smallest change or accomodation from them. The jihadis are playing a dangerous game. The ROP mask is getting ripped off. When it gets down to it - and I know some will disagree with me - I don't think the West is just going to roll over into dhimmitude.

I'm certainly with you there. Time to at least start calling it a "religion of war."
Actually, it's time to seperate it from a "religion" and start calling it a cult. True, there are Muslims that practice their "religion" in a sane and peaceful manner. But many have highjacked it for 'religious" purposes, much ion the same way that people like David Koresh (sp?) and the Klu Klux Klan instilled their beliefs in the name of "religion"

Any so-called religious scholar that doesn't recognize Islam is a cult and a major ripoff from both the Old and New Testament consider this:
IF any part of the body is not well then the whole body shares the sleeplessness and fever with it. ~ Mohammud
The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. ~1 Corinthians 12:12-15
But somehow old Mo missed these parts:
(1) Matthew 5:39 But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
(2) Mark 6:11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them."
(3) Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Islam, the great sham foisted upon mankind...

From a posting above:
'Until Islam creates (or goes back) to an Islam that is & can be interpreted differently (as Christianity and Judaism are) this will always be the case.'
Islam never created anything and cannot 'go back' to where its never been.
The Koran is 'immutable'- any deviation is forbidden and makes kufr, unbelief.
Those who believe want us dead or converted. The radicals are the 'good' Muslims, that's it.

Charles Krauthammer at NRO. I rise in defense of drunken astronauts.
Have you ever been to the shuttle launch pad? Have you ever seen that beautiful and preposterous thing the astronauts ride? Imagine it’s you sitting on top of a 12-story winged tube bolted to a gigantic canister filled with 2 million liters of liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen. Then picture your own buddies — the “closeout crew” — who met you at the pad, fastened your emergency chute, strapped you into your launch seat, sealed the hatch and waved smiling to you through the window. Having left you lashed to what is the largest bomb on planet Earth, they then proceed 200 feet down the elevator and drive not one, not two, but three miles away to watch as the button is pressed that lights the candle that ignites the fuel that blows you into space.

I had someone get off the see-saw when I was at the top. Ouch. It was pink with pink and white daisies sewed to the straps. It had a big daisy for a pocket.

I've come to realize the real enemy of western society isn't radical islam, or career criminals or Soviet expansionism or any of the other malevolent forces have played havoc with the west through the decades. These are all symptoms of the core problem: liberal anti western westerners who make it their life's work to support any evil as long as it's anti-western culture and especially anti-American. These are the people who are dissatisfied with their own lives and seek to blame all their problems on the society that doesn't appreciate them for the superior beings they think they are. They're obsessed with getting even.
I guarantee, if invaders from another planet came to enslave mankind and said they needed some humans to help put the others in line, the liberals would put their hands up so fast your head would spin.

Just like the lady said in the first video,
"You either adhere/worship to the 5 pillars of Islam, or you don't."
This clearly illistrates that there is no in between.
To be a true Muslim/Islamic, a person either believes it all, or they are not true Muslims/Islamics.
This is why there is no such thing as a "moderate" Islamic.
Everyone has been talking for quite some time, "where are voices of the moderate Muslims"?
The reason you don't hear them, is because there are none.

This is why the left supports any and all evil on this earth, by appeasement, by surrender, by inaction, by outright support.
I have said it for quite some time, and it certainly has a very good chance of being shown by history to be accurate, and that is, the left just may be the death of the USA and the West.

I've got news for you; a number of Jewish values, and Christian values, are "in direct opposition to basic Western humanist values." Most Jews and most Christians, however, subscribe sufficiently to the basic Western humanist value of tolerance to enable us all to get along together, most of the time.
Let's be fair here, buzz, this isn't a basic western humanist value imo. My God does not call for the death of non believers by my hand. HE is the one that tells me he will take care of them in the end if they still do not believe.
Now, their god on the other hand.........wants me dead. If that were not in their bylaws, LGF and many other websites focused on exposing this threat would have a lot less to write about.

I'm not saying it isn't a cult; I'm just saying that calling it a cult is not going to get the point across, when most people consider a "cult" something adhered to only by a small fringe group. A billion-plus adherents makes "cult" appellation sound ridiculous to the ear of the very people you want to persuade.
And, of course, what with freedom of religion and all, there is nothing illegal about being a cult, or a member of a cult--as long as you stay within the bounds of the law. During the Reformation, Protestants killed Catholics and Catholics killed Protestants for adhering to the "wrong" form of Christian belief. Christians have grown past that. If Muslims are punished for acting out their anti-social beliefs, instead of excuses being made for those beliefs, they may eventually figure out a way to grow past them too.
Who am I trying to persuade?
No one.
Remember, Buzz, I'm an infidel and a woman. If I were a Jew it would be three strikes and I would be out.

I have a story like this.
One day I walked into my black best friend's (now an ex best friend mind you) office from years of working with him. On his email was an activist email that called for all whites to be hung.
NEVER EVER in a freakin million years would I have thought those words would be sanctioned by him.
So I shoved that thought away because after all, I knew him for years and NO WAY could he be like that. His convos and mine were often of the bill cosby persuasion..take responsibility and get an education blah blah..don't feel sorry for yourself....kind of stuff. I figured I must be mistaken with what I saw.
Fast forward 4 more years later..I am sitting down with him for lunch along with some other ex coworkers and he proceeds to join in the convo with the others on how all republicans need to be hung and shot and how west wing is a republican conspiracy to run policy for our nation. They did not know I was republican, we never talked politics before that day believe it or not.
The parallel I'm trying to draw here, is you really don't know what people believe and it can come out much much later and you'd never suspect it.

Us 3 from the vfw were laughing about it being the highest paid color guard we'd ever seen. Us = one e6, one pfc and one sgt. They were very, very sharp. Thanks again for your families service.

The Grand Pussification of the American Male.
I assure you American men are here (and all over the world)--- we usually don't make the news or hang out in public places as we have families, obligations and jobs to look after.I was referring to the freaks who have invaded my neighborhood who look like this and much worse. I know there are real men out there.
I can't deny that most skateboarders are freaks. I have to say though that both of my sons and my 36 year old husband are very good at skateboarding. My husband is just an awesome athlete all around and one would be hard pressed to find a man of his age in better physical shape. Also the smartest person I've ever known. Sadly, skateboarding has attracted a lot of degenerates and they talk a lot of trash. My kids just show them up to shut them up.

My wife has trouble with the money value of time, i.e. it's not worth driving even a few blocks to save 10 cents on a roast.
In some respects I have trouble with that one, that it is cheaper, my time value wise to hire some one to do a job, than to do it myself.

The problem I have with secularists, or humanists proclaiming moral equivalence to Christianity, is they seem to me to be a bunch of people luxuriating under the shelter of the tree built by a Judeo-Christian value system, and this took a very long time. They have no historical perspective and their unbelief makes them spiritually retarded. There are no humanists philosophers sitting around proclaiming their creative powers in dictatorships, or under any of the isms. Even if they played a part in founding such systems, they are the first ones to the gallows once the ruthless strongmen ascend to power.

TOTALLY OT:
Someone yesterday posted a link to this book review in a gay newspaper of a new title called "Gay Travels in the Muslim World." Both the book and the review try to downplay how bad it is for gays in Muslim countries, and mock American attitudes. I noticed that they allowed comments on articles, so I quickly typed one up and posted it -- only to discover that comments are "moderated" and that mine would get posted only if it was approved.
Well, needless to say, it didn't get approved. But I hate to let a good comment go to waste, and luckily I still had the comment window open, so for the hell of it I'm posting the comment here instead.
Keep in mind that this comment is for the newspaper's gay audience, and my goal was to push the gay readers into coming around to the LGF political point of view, without challenging or making any judgements about their identities.
Anyway, here we go!:
----------------
There are so many ludicrous political gymnastics in this review and apparently in the book it dicusses. Trying to twist twist twist the narrative to cast US culture in a bad light and excuse Middle Eastern culture. Let's just strip away all the crap and get to the heart of the matter:
The penalty for engaging in homosexual acts in most Muslim countries is death -- public execution. It is patently untrue that "no one gives a damn" if two men engage in gay sex under a desert moon. They only don't care if they don't know.
True, perhaps in a few North African countries the police will "look the other way" in notorious gay areas, but gays only exist at the hypocritical whim of the authorities. Gays can be prosecuted at any time if the powers that be so decide. The anti-gay laws remain in place, even in those areas where they may be mostly unenforced.
US culture, despite your juvenile bashing of it, is infinitely more liberal and progressive than that of any Muslim country.
For the good of gays and gay rights everywhere, Islamic culture needs to be dissolved by encroaching Westernization and American values as rapidly as possible. The only way to achieve worldwide gay freedom is to attack Islamic values relentlessly, as it is the last virulently anti-gay major culture left on the planet. As such, we should be supporting globalization and the so-called "War on Terror" as both are eroding away Muslim traditional societies and values.
Yes, whether or not you acknowledge it, America is a force that promotes liberal values and personal freedom around the world, even if this isn't the primary goal of economic globalization and military strength.
Look at the big picture. Where would you rather live: The United States -- or Mauritania or Iran or Yemen? You don't need to answer because you've already voted with your dick -- the United States, because it is here you are free to be who you are. So, the more we can make those backwards societies more like the US, the better for gays and everyone.

Look for as much flash as they can make at that time, but we also have to be ready to vette every single casualty and claim, because the MSM is going to be highly willing to swallow mass amounts of agitprop swill at that time -- they'll make TNR look honest.

There is a New Testament Spiritual reason for those portions.

Super-Mondo Heat Wave to Cripple US
Just watched the Joe Bastardi video, and while three runs of the GFS in a row have destroyed Miami with a monster hurricane in 2 weeks (details subject to change) the big story is the Top 5 all time heat wave to punish the interior Southern US back into the lower Ohio Valley and much of the Missouri and Mississippi Valley. East of the Rockies, only the Great Lakes and Canadian border regions will see relief with occasional cool fronts and rain!
And, finally, the rain has stopped in most of Texas. So Dallas can dry out that soil moisture, and brown up the green vegetation, that has kept them from The Century Mark. Probably not today, maybe not tomorrow, but almost certainly Thursday and Friday. That is what I'm saying, 38°, and while it dries out some, enough humidity will be present to make it darned uncomfortable.
This should also help the Texas side of the Gulf, with 28 to 29° water, catch up to Florida, where the water is 30 to 32°! Of course, if a big hurricane is heading for Miami, and South Florida is surrounded by water over 90° F, it would probably be Labor Day 1935 city.
Still thinking about that TV show, with a Cat 3 or Cat 4 (I think Cat 4 is unlikely) hurricane hitting NYC. With SSTs now at the magic 26.5° all the way to Atlantic City, and the buoy off Islip now at 24°, a monster hurricane, assuming upper level conditions were favorable, would only weaken slowly as it approached.
But a Miami or NYC hurricane, still hypothetical, whereas widespread 100° F temps that may last for 2 weeks, that looks to be for real.

Saw a recent account of US charitable giving. If ranked on the national GDP scale US giving is 29th.
I'm just curious, do you recall where you might have seen this?
Us total charitable giving in '06 295.02 billion.
National GDP.
27 Greece 307 billion
28 Denmark 276 billion
We give more than Denmark produces and slightly less than Greece.

The fall from the slidey-thing on the monkey bars was rough on The Kid. It busted his lip all to hell--facial wounds bleed profusely.
When my daughter was 8 or 9 (she's 26 with her own kids now), she was playing at the community center after school. It had been raining so the concrete was a bit slippery, she fell and went face first into a concrete post. She didn't break anything, but the poor child looked like someone had whacked her repeatedly with a 2x4.
They do somehow survive. By everything I have read here, you are a terrific Mom and "The Kid" should be just fine.

"The Ummah" can actually be twisted into an excellent weapon, to be used against Islam.
Seeing as how Muslims view themselves as a 'collective', then is it not just for Infidels to then treat them as a collective?
If a Muslim in India, then, beheads a Christian girl, justice is served by murdering any Muslim, anywhere on earth, in retribution.
Muslims cannot have it both ways... Ummah when it suits them, and 'individual' when that suits them.
As the Ummah does unto The Others, so shall it be done to The Ummah.

Golly, I could have used four or five different colors and styles i only it were permitted.
I think a Tequila Sunrise effect for the "hot parts" of the thread.

I hope everyone caught the quick shot of the Qur'an, near the beginning, open to Surah 2:216--"Jihad (Holy fighting in Allah's Cause)... One can tell from the ornate type and detail that this "Meaning of the Qur'an" was most likely published by a thoroughly Islamic firm, probably in KSA or Pakistan, maybe northern India. Jihad is properly defined here as "holy fighting," not as "inner struggle."

I am merely pointing out that Islam is running well over a thousand years behind both Christianity and Judaism in development, and that even Judaism, the oldest of the three, incorporated innovations in interpretation and practice over 1500 years after it originally came into being.
Why not stop pretending that there is any equivalence of Islam to Judaism or Christianity? You view seems to be that these are all equally weighted human constructs of values and world views, subject to evolutionary growth and change. My view and that of many others is Judaism and its younger brother Christianity are a continuum of revelation or knowledge from God of the ever increasing requirements from Him to his children to grow up spiritually, and thus intellectually and emotionally, all slathered with a layer of salvation and deliverance because we are a fallen creation, pretty well testified to by human history in all its "inhumanity, violence and plain old evil."
Whereas Islam is a counterfeit revelation, seemingly like Christianity or Judaism, but you have to look no farther than the founders of Judaism and Christianity and Islam to discern the true character of the messengers, and thus the message.
There is no reform or growth possible in Islam...it is what it is, and was always so.

Tear-off that Nuclear Burqa!(not) Russia Pressures Iran On Nukes
Moscow has warned Tehran it will not deliver fuel to a nearly completed Russian-built nuclear reactor unless Tehran lifts the veil of secrecy on suspicious past atomic activities....
Of course the statement is attributed to some un-named Eurabian dip___.
This looks very similar to one of those very common Weasel(no offense to Weasels) stall scams: Europe warns US on Iran sanctions
European governments are warning Congress that US legislation aimed at Iran could hit European energy groups, undermine transatlantic unity on Tehran’s nuclear programme and provoke a dispute at the World Trade Organisation.Diplomats from France, Germany and the UK, among other countries, have stepped up a lobbying campaign on Capitol Hill against moves that would mandate sanctions on energy companies that invested more than $20m (€14.6m, £9.9m) in Iran.
Gawd...I just love those Euros. However, as VDH notes our Eurabian pals don't rate us to high in their Popularity Contest:
Even more perplexing are the attitudes voiced by some key European countries — France (60 percent unfavorable to the U.S.), Germany (66-percent unfavorable), and Spain (60 percent). Millions of Europeans in these countries express a much more negative view of the United States than do Hugo Chavez’s Venezuelans. So much for the supposedly sweeping changes in France and Germany that brought the Sarkozy and Merkel governments to power.
I won't mention Gordie for the moment...

Based you your comments today, it seems that you are trying to quit smoking.
I did it! I quit almost 5 years ago. Cold turkey. I got tired of coughing. That coupled with the fact that my Daddy had just died from lung cancer a few months before and my Mama died from emphysema a few years earlier what choice did I have? They both smoked like chimney's. I saw how they both suffered, didn't want to go there myself.
It is not easy. One thing that helped me was drinking water. When I really was jonesing for a smoke, I drank a glass of water. By the time I got done with the glass of water, the craving was gone.
Hang in there and good luck!

Wisconsin's Ward Churchill - Only Worse Update:
University denies Barrett positionFormer University of Wisconsin lecturer Kevin Barrett was denied a fall teaching position he had applied for in the English department, university officials confirmed in July.
Barrett, who brought a great deal of scrutiny to UW last year for his outspoken defense of a Sept. 11 conspiracy theory, wanted to teach a 300-level English course on Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales but was not hired because the other candidates were more qualified, according to UW spokesperson Brian Mattmiller.

My dear fellow lizards. I regret that Ploome's anger at me and at Render has invaded the blog this fine day. You see, Render and I regularly defended Quella when Ploome would attack her in the lounge. Quella is a fine young woman and also, being Ivy league educated with an advanced degree, is quite intelligent. For defending our friend Quella, we have incurred the wrath of Ploome.
Everyone knows that I, Kirly, am the "you know who" of which Ploome speaks. Render clearly identified me here and here.
Ploome. Please take your private spat out of Charles' space. I have posted my email address. If you have an issue with me, please simply email it to me and don't burden or bore these fine lizards with it.
Again, lizards and Charles, I regret any inconvenience this situation may cause for you.

Natfanuttin but, an advanced degree and an "ivy league education" mean absolutely zero except as far as how much you can eventually earn, and this makes absolutely no one one better, finer, or more intelligent than anyone else here.
All it really means is your parents did right by you and you had opportunities in life that many never get.
Just sayin'. It's not a reason to like or respect anyone over anyone else, ever.
Or to automatically say they are Intelligent.

I don't subscribe to, or indeed think much of, Mohammed's supposed "revelations"--but I get a little nervous about casually dismissing other people's holy books, if only because I can see a rabidly secular humanist regime doing exactly the same thing to the Torah--or to the New Testament, if it comes to that.
this is the crux of why we disagree right here
and when I am less insane I'll articulate why
It has to do with Islam being UNHOLY from a biblical POV, IMO

That's news to me. Any sources for that?
Probably the gates of ijtihad -- which slammed shut a thousand years ago. Irshad Manji and a few other people living in Canada, the UK, or US does not constitute a movement.

and that as Islam also has a tradition of oral interpretation, it has, at least in theory, the ability to grow and to reform itself.
I wish I had kept the post from here that someone posted a bit earlier on this but it said something along the lines of that Christianity had something to reform from, while the koran does not. I know I'm totally butchering that post's jist too. Ahh well, I hope that person pipes in here to explain it again if they are around.
I don't suspect that a cult can reform if it's very center calls for their followers to go kill people and gives them explicit instructions. Like the dutch politician said, half the koran would need to be torn out to even start to reform.
For me, it is good enough for me that Christians have the new testament and Jesus' teachings to say phooey to those who try to draw the parallels to the bible and koran. While you may not be doing that in this thread (honestly I'm getting lost in all the jargon so I'm not even sure what half the people are saying any longer lol), I see this argument on other sites and it makes me roll my eyes and feel they are trying to deflect the real issues of islam that we are now all trying to come to terms with.

I'm sure someone OT'd this already:
Your Black Muslim Bakery Linked To Murder.
A multi-agency raid hit Your Black Muslim Bakery in Oakland early yesterday, along with some other properties owned by the bakery. Seven men were arrested and several firearms were seized, among them one police believe was used to murder prominent black newspaperman Chauncy Bailey early Thursday morning. Among those arrested was Yusef Bey IV, the son of the late local Black Muslim leader, well-known child molester and founder of the bakery, Yusef Bey. Shortly after the raid the health department closed and boarded up the building for numerous health code violations.
Bailey was known to not be a fan of the local Black Muslim sect, and was preparing an unflattering piece on the Your Black Muslim Bakery at the time of his murder. Members of this group had previously been arrested for trashing local liquor stores, apparently to express their religious opposition to the consumption of alcohol (or possibly due to the businesses refusing to pay protection money, depending on who you believe).
Remember, Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. And if you don't agree, they will trash your place of business and kill you.

PARIS Â-- President Sarkozy broke off from his American holiday yesterday in an attempt to end the controversy surrounding a French arms deal with Libya. Speaking in Wolfeboro, a resort near Boston, Mr. Sarkozy, 52, insisted there was no connection between France's role in securing the release of five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian Arab doctor from Libya and the African country's subsequent decision to buy anti-tank missiles and radio systems worth $400 million from a largely French-owned company.
France's Socialist Party opposition last week demanded an inquiry after Saif al-Islam, the son of Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi, suggested that there was a link between the two deals.
But Mr. Sarkozy said, "The contract was not linked to the release of the nurses. What do they criticize me for? Getting contracts? Creating jobs for French workers?"

THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned from a military source close to the investigation that Pvt. Separately, we received this statement from Major Steven F. Lamb, the deputy Public Affairs Officer for Multi National Division-Baghdad:
An investigation has been completed and the allegations made by PVT Beauchamp were found to be false. His platoon and company were interviewed and no one could substantiate the claims.

My Dad worked on rockets in his early career. I still remember reading the manuals on ramjets and guidance systems he brought home. Mostly antiballistic missile stuff. The plan was to launch a nuclear tipped missile at the incoming Russian warheads and have it explode taking out the incoming missile at high altitude. I'm not sure if the new much about the EMP generated by high altitude explosions at that time or that was discovered later.

Nablus, known as the site of biblical Shechem, is one of the largest Palestinian cities with a population of more than 50,000 people. The area of Biblical Shechem can be found in Balata, which is in the eastern section of the city.
Historically, Abraham traveled through Shechem on his way to Canaan and offered his first sacrifice to G-d. After the conquest of Canaan, Joshua assembled the Israelites here and encouraged them to follow the Mosaic laws. During the period of the Judges, Abimelech was crowned king here. Biblical Shechem was destroyed by the Assyrians in the 8th century BCE.
Inside the area known as Biblical Shechem are the remains of a defensive wall, a 3,600-year-old Hyksos temple and Joseph’s Tomb. During an outbreak of violence in October 2000, Palestinian rioters destroyed Joseph’s Tomb and were reportedly building a mosque on the site.

Nablus in the West Bank is the market center for a region where wheat and olives are grown and sheep and goats are grazed. Manufactures include soap made from olive oil and colorful shepherds' coats.
On September 13, 1993, the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat signed the Declaration of Principles, which outlined a six-year timetable for achieving permanent and comprehensive peace between Israel and the Palestinians. On May 4, 1994, Rabin and Arafat initialed an accord implementing the first stage of that agreement: self-rule for Gaza and Jericho under the administration of a Palestinian Authority (PA). On September 28, 1995, the Interim Agreement was signed, calling for a phased Israeli withdrawal from certain areas of the West Bank. By 1999, six West Bank cities (Nablus, Tulkarm, Ramallah, Jenin, Bethlehem, Qalqilyah) had been turned over to the PA.

Some legal immigrant from S. America asks if "undocumented workers" will get a path to citizenship. Obama gets the question and sez it's possible for us to be a nation of laws AND a nation of (illegal) immigrants. He also says to hold the employers accountable -- for giving illegal aliens benefits and high wages. Tied up with a "they have to take their place in line and play by the rules," which makes it a big, meaningless, sloppy sundae of scofflawism and phoney tough talk.

OK.... I get the rising sun Hiroshima connection but damned if I can figure how the star of David relates to Nagasaki..Maybe because so many of the first nuclear scientists were Jewish? In other words if it weren't for the Joos there would have been no atomic bombs and there would be peace on earth for ever and ever.
/Moonbat logic
I work on machinery, and took a different take on the picture. I saw an emergency stop button above the Star of David, rather than a red sun. I understood it to say, Stop the Jews, they caused Nagasaki and Hiroshima. I have no idea of the number of thousands of tokes on the ol' hookah pipe it takes to get to this level of derangement.

Congratulations.
Ok so what I dont' get is what the diff is between "lobby groups" and "unions".
They are both organizations that have leaders that rep a bunch of people, and use a large # of members as a threat.
Unions = Lobbies

A good first step to reforming islam would be for them to utterly and completely reject the hadith and sunnah as hearsay and falsehoods. Many hadith are nothing more than edicts from the caliph of the day to manipulate the masses against the rivals of said caliph. That would wipe out a lot of islamic law. It would, however, leave koranic law, which, as I quoted, is incorruptible and therefore could not be reformed.
