Palestinians: Rocket Attacks 'A Present for the Start of the New School Year'

Mon, Sep 3, 2007 at 8:21:41 am PDT

Sheer evil from Palestinian savages today, as a rocket slams into a day care center and Islamic Jihad brags about it: Sderot kids to stay away from schools following morning’s rocket salvo.

The Sderot Parents Association decided they would not take their children to schools and day care centers beginning Tuesday, until the government changed its policy regarding ongoing Kassam rocket attacks on the western Negev town, The Jerusalem Post learned Monday.

It followed a salvo of seven Kassam rockets that landed in and around the beleaguered town Monday morning. After one of the rockets thudded into the courtyard of a day care center, soldiers scrambled to evacuate everyone inside. Twelve people, including some of the babies, suffered shock and a building was damaged.

Despite the fact that none of the 15 babies at the center were wounded, frantic parents across the city - already furious over the government’s failure to protect them and their children from the near-daily rocket fire - pulled their children out of schools on the second day of the academic year.

In total, seven Kassam rockets landed in and around the western Negev town as Sderot children started their second day of the new school year. The Islamic Jihad said they had fired nine Kuds-3 rockets, saying on their internet site that the attack was “a present for the start of the new school year.”

Once again reporters are burying the lead in their stories. One has to read several paragraphs to get to the heart of the story. Most people only read the headlines and one or two paragraphs. Where once, the story would have lead with the jihadi's remarks, reporters are in a sense giving muslims a pass. I believe this is one reason the world isn't taking more notice of what muslims are doing. The media is complicit in downplaying the muslim agenda.

"Hamas sends Isreali children present to mark school opening. IDF responds with brutal atttacks."

"Hamas peace initiative t mark school opening ignored by Olmert."

32 lawhawk  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 8:33:49am

The Palestinian terrorists purposefully target kids - and have done so for decades. Think Ma'alot.

They want to kill Israeli kids because they figure it will sap Israeli resolve and make them think twice about remaining.

Killing Israeli kids means that those kids wont grow up to be Israeli soldiers - and in Palestinian rationalization that makes all Israelis fair game since practically all Israeli kids go into the military once they reach 18.

Of course, the Palestinians also play games on their side - they purposefully expose their kids to Israeli counter battery fire - knowing that kids killed by Israeli fire (even when unintentional) is going to be a media hit. Palestinians will fire rockets, and then pay/tell Palestinian kids to retrieve the rocket launchers knowing that they would be exposed to IDF counter battery fire. Nihilism and cynicism at their worst.

And the Israeli government still doesn't take the fight to the Palestinian terrorists in a meaningful way. They continue to accept a level of violence that is completely unacceptable to anyone living in the range of those rockets - especially in Sderot.

It is criminal how the Israeli government has handled the situation. They've failed to protect the Israeli citizens and instead think that restraint is going to advance things on a diplomatic track, when there is absolutely no evidence that has ever been the case with the Palestinians.

62 lawhawk  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 8:42:38am

Compare and contrast - in Lebanon, Fatah al Islam started a war with the Lebanese military when it killed 3 Lebanese soldiers. The Lebanese military has essentially obliterated Nahr al Bared. Nary a word from the international media over the actions. it's been going on since mid-May. Hundreds have been killed - most are terrorists.

Israel has been dealing with kassam rockets for more than a year and hasn't taken steps beyond the occasional airstrike against terrorists in cars. Any casualties are blamed on Israel. Most Palestinians killed have been the terrorists or people placed in harms' way by the Palestinian terrorists. Little attention in media to the precipitating actions, but instead focus on the Israeli reprisal as if that was the first thing to happen.

Israel's restraint is taken as a sign of weakness and has been continually exploited by the terrorists, who continue to target schools, homes, and anything else within rocket range.

It will not stop until the Israeli government hits the terrorists hard - all the terrorists.

I believe Israel would do that if they didn't need to rely on the U.S. as much as they have to. We need to stop sending signals of weakness to them. Think about it, one minute we back them totally and the next they here Bill Clinton say it was a mistake. Then they see the political turmoil here and wonder if they will still have the support when the blood starts flowing. They have to watch us elect dhimwits every so often, so they have to be sure that their biggest ally is supportive. The problem is that we can't even be supportive of our own actions. Example: Telling the troops they can't win is also supporting them. How do you respond to this kind of outrageous line of thinking? How do they know when the wind is blowing the right way in the U.S. so that they can have the sustained support they need. When we finally take a stand that doesn't change every time the wind blows Israel will finally be able to use the force necessary with the backing they need to fully achieve the objectives.

re: #72 trigger girlie

You may recall the NOAA WP-3D Orion aborted the mission into Cat 5 Hurricane Felix, headed for the Nicaragua/Honduras border. The plane took an excursion from an estimated -4 Gs in a downdraft to an near instantaneous +4G while penetrating the eyewall, which is apparently beyond the design specs of the aircraft. The AC is out of service until a complete inspection can be performed, perhaps permanently. The two WP-3D AC, nicknamed Kermit and Miss Piggy, are both 35 years old. All NOAA WP-3D flights have been cancelled, and only the much newer (21st century) Air Force Reserve WC-130J AC will fly center fix missions.

Tehran, Sept 3, IRNA
Iran-NAM-Kaddoumi
Palestinian Foreign Minister Farouk Kaddoumi here Monday urged for NAM support for realization of Palestinians' " inalienable" rights, including right of return.

"Palestinian refugees who have suffered for sixty years in exile, deserve to return to their land and homes in order to live in dignity after so much suffering. This was the first priority of the Palestinian Resistance Movement since its inception, and it is because the issue was not addressed in the Oslo accords that we
considered them flawed, since they completely truncated our rights and identity by reducing us to the status of ethnic communities or minorities living in foreign lands, or as second class citizens on our own hand," Kaddoumi told a NAM foreign ministerial meeting that opened here on Monday.

And what is your idea of a "righteous indignant" response? A show of o'whelming force which leaves the still living with ears that ring and bleed. Which leaves the unmistakeably clear message seared into their inbred brains that WE MUST NEVER TARGET ISRAEL's CHILDREN .

Well, at least we can count on all those moderate, rational, peaceful Muslims worldwide coming out and loudly, unmistakable decrying this kind of behavior.

Can't we?

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Supreme Leader criticized the US lobbying against Iranian nuclear program and said that it is surprising that those who initiated two World Wars within 20 year-period and committed crimes against humanity in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and Kosovo are creating obstacles in the way of Iran's nuclear program.

"In the past 28 years, Iran has never been initiator of any aggression or military strike. Iran withstood and will withstand the US bullying and will never yield to pressure," the Supreme Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that certain Western states led by the US got used to taking advantage of their scientific capability for unleashing war and bloodshed.

The Supreme Leader dismissed recent statement of US President George W. Bush as arrogant, lawless and hateful and said that since victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian nation has never feared bullying of the arrogant and drunken leaders of the West and will give wise response to them.

"Their arrogance and reliance on power have got them entangled in quagmire further day by day, hastening their ultimate collapse." 1416/1412

Israel should drop 500 pound bombs on the rocket launch sites.

When the Mohammed-worshipping savages start placing children and babies around the rocket launchers, then Israel should methodically destroy Gaza's infrastructure: power, electricity, and roads. Make it uninhabitable even for Mohammed-worshipping barbarians.

That's basically what Gaza is like now. The Israelis didn't do it all, the Palis do it to themselves! Not to mention the billions in foreign aid that they have received through the years, that has never gone to fix so much as a pothole!

Depressingly enough, as far as it seems from Israel, there is - Hamas is the one "in control" (/sarcasm) of Gazastan, while Jamiyah Isalamiyah aren't and are just small in Gaza in comparison (despite being part of the bigger Global Islamic Jihad group); if it were actually Hamas, you probably would see something other than the occasional 'flight and bomb' of random Hamas activists, but it seems as though the general idea is "let them cook within themselves" until they break and have no choice but to relinquish control of the strip back to the lesser evil (which actually may happen sooner than we probably think - and at which point they're dead, since they won't be "state officials" anymore and IDF won't need to think twice).

That said, if those ****** **** **** Bastards had (god forbid) actually hurt or killed any children in such an attack, it wouldn't matter - THEN Israel would retaliate, period.

Unless "a line" is crossed (escalation), the current government - like all the ones before it - fears the consequences of such an attack as causing more damage than would be worth....

This was posted earlier today and is worth repeating:

#1336 Ayatollah Ghilmeini 9/03/2007 7:40:43 am

Proof

As a resident LGF expert on US policy, Iran and Islam, I felt it very important to impart to you how President Ahmadinejad came to quote as saying the following:

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sought to justify his confidence the United States will not attack Iran, saying the proof comes from his mathematical skills as an engineer and faith in God, the press reported on Monday.

I called my friends at the Iranian Ministry of Information, told them I was a senior Ayatollah and asked they let me examine Ahmadinejad's proof to verify its Islamic authenticity.

They were a little surprised when I gave them my address in the States but sent the packet out right away.

I opened the package and there it was in all its glory, a very large placemat in President Ahmadinejad's own hand. I translated the proof and corrected a couple mistakes the excitable President made and also simplified a couple of his more complicated arguments:

In the name of blah blah blah (always starts with that bit doesn't it?)

Assume:

Allah is all powerful, all wise, invests me with a green glow when I speak at the UN and made me President of Iran for reasons I dare not speak about in public.

Assume that the US has been completely beaten in Iraq, George W. Bush has accepted defeat and the American people would rather Iran get a nuclear bomb than start another war.

Assume the US cannot marshal enough forces to fight much less win any fight against Iran as the US military is stretched too thin by it international military commitments.

Assume further that Europe are a bunch of ball-less swine who hate Bush so much they will do anything to prevent the US attacking Iran.

Finally assume that the blessed Islamic means of governing Iran ensures that our people remain loyal to the government and consider 35% graft attached to all major contracts with the Iranian government, the 24% inflation rate and the 18% unemployment rate are considered by all Iranians to be some of the many blessings of pure Islamic rule and the people consider the billions being spent to destabilize Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Israel are money well-spent and that the billions funneled to Syria, Hamas, Hezbollah and terrorists everywhere is the wisest investment ever made by any government in human history.

218 David IV of Georgia  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 9:40:26am

If
US + (Bush - Democrats) = US + Europe= 0
China + Russia + Ummah= US + Israel + Australia + cartoonists) x10 and Islam + Allah + Jihad = (US x ninth Surah x 1032487.197)/(political upheaval +election 2008 +Senator Craig's resignation)-(Guiliani or Thompson)

Then

US Seventh Fleet + USMC + USAFB2+F22+F15+JDAM+Cruise Missile %u2260 the power of the Ummah and the wisdom of Khomeini µ Ahmadinejad's Penis x %u0192 (normal Islamist thought) + (belief in the return of the Imam Mahdi)%u2206 (Ramadan is here and that makes me happy) x %u221A(a Revolutionary Guard Corps Divinely Inspired Mission+ (EFP+IEDs) [where a is the cube root of the quadratic calculus of the reasonable take over a foreign embassy and exporting terror world-wide] + (3000 centrifuges + ballistic missile purchases + antiaircraft batteries to protect peaceful nuclear research (for energy purposes ONLY)-((annoying IAEA inspections + payoff to al Baredei)+ problems with uranium 238 purity + plutonium + al Qaeda + polonium 90 (used only for nuclear weapons research)+heavy water))

Then the US is too weak to attack and Israel is too scared to attack the beautiful Islamic Republic Iran which dares not tell the world of its desires to seize power over the entire middle east and kill tens of millions of people in the process.

If anyone bothers to tell El Presidente Jorge Bush about this, he will just go right on chanting his mantra "good cause of the Palestinian people".

The terrorists admit they are using weapons given by the US.

They admit that they started the 2000 Intifada with training by US military advisors.

The American taxpayers have already been robbed of hundreds of billions of dollars given to the terrorists.

How can they not be encouraged by a feeling of surety -- unfortunately justified -- that the US James Baker administration and its White House puppet will back them no matter what.

I have a suggestion for Israeli people and its leadership, assuming what we read here on LGF to be unprovoked and true which apparently it is. No one seems to deny it.

After having tried appeasement, giving up land, negotiation, soldiers kidnapped, Olympic athletes butchered, and apparent 40 yrs. tolerance of suicide bombings, wouldn't it be overdue for a change of strategy if you're really getting tired of this? I know that if I thought my children couldn't go to school without someone launching a rocket their way, I probably would forgo the formality of peace planning and think about more direct measures. And if your gutless leadership refuses to protect you, I would remove them immediately by whatever means are necessary.

You read the tragedy, now here is the comedy. UN to the rescue.

Israel will petition UN Secretary General to stop Kassams on Sderot

[Link: www.jpost.com...]

Or is more proof that the Israeli Government is totally insane the real tragedy.

re: #71 gagalbert

I wonder how fast this would be on NBC and CNN and the NY Times if it was Israel bombing Arab schools?

Hell, we ALL know the answer to that.

And we all know that al-Reuters and pals are reading this thread. YES YOU!

Step up to the plate and rejoin the human race, you moronic assholes! Print the truth!

No?

Perhaps you'd feel differently if someone launced missles at the daycare centers and schools that YOUR children attend... think about it. Think about what it would feel like to you, should you send Johnny and Susie off to school next week and never see them alive again. You'd want the truth to be exposed, the whole truth and nothing BUT the truth.

(you won't, of course, because these are Jews... and you're a pathetic collective of soulless, gutless arrogant f*ckers - pisspoor examples to your own children - you kissed goodbye to your own humanity, years ago).

248 mghirsch  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 10:19:18am

"Despite the fact that none of the 15 babies at the center were wounded, frantic parents across the city - already furious over the government’s failure to protect them and their children from the near-daily rocket fire - pulled their children out of schools on the second day of the academic year.

So they should have waited until one of their children was killed?

re: #232 galloping granny

A government that allows a foreign entity to fire rockets at a town full of civilians on a daily basis for over a year is no government at all and deserves to be overthrown. If the Israeli government cannot will not (because we all know full well that they CAN) defend the infant children of Israel, then they should resign. Or be forced to resign.

Well said, and I second it! Olmert, take military action to protect your nation and your people, or stand down.

Enough! We know that you prefer the pursuit of peaceful diplomacy, but the time for that has ended!.

Counter-battery would waste millions of shekels on $10 worth of wood and metal.

Aggressive patrolling and killing terrorists before rockets are launched would be better.

OK - better tactics. Now we need some leaders who will order just that.

How many more dead and maimed before they act?

re: #85 SpartanWoman

I don't understand why Israel doesn't just obliterate the area from which those rockets were fired and let that paleos celebrate that! Surely bombing is a cause to return fire and calling these weapons "rockets" makes it sound like fireworks to those stupid enough to think the paleos are redeemable.

Let the earth swallow them up, fatah and hamas together in hell.

Because the rockets are fired from empty fields outside Gaza.

"Rockets" is the correct technical name for these projectiles. They are unguided explosives-carrying projectiles. They really aren't technically that much different than the model rockets you might launch in your back yard, only they are much larger, and obviously are packed with explosives and other nasties.

The terrorists launching the rockets set up, light the fuses and then run away, even before the rockets have left the ground.

By the time the rockets have launched there is literally nothing remaining on the ground to target but empty fields.

Its a serious problem.

Israel, I suppose could carpet mine all those areas, but that would be politically impossible.

Israel's best response to these rocket attacks has been to target rocket crews en route to a launch when possible, take down/destroy rocket making shops, when possible, and assassinate rocket-makers and commanders when possible.

Other than that, there really isn't much Israel can do.

258 Clio  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 11:10:10am

olmert is running scared.

His own Kadimite party is breaking up, because other than the top few members they know that come the election they will be out of their seats and having to look for jobs.

So olmert has to work fast to carry out his agenda of betraying Israel.

Who is paying him and how much has yet to be revealed, but he never does anything without getting paid for it.

AS vigorous Leader of the Opposition could bring him down. Netanyahu does not seem willing or able to do it.

Keep a watch on former Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon -- he is starting to speak up and when he speaks he makes sense.

And as the Israelites were told a long, long time ago "Be stout-hearted and of good courage". And Friends of Israel do not despair and do not desert us in disgust -- PLEASE. We need you now like never before.

261 vagabond trader  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 11:26:30am

As long as Muslims brainwash their children with Jew-hate, there is little hope for peace in this area. That also goes for Iraq, which undoubtedly follows the party line when it comes to Jews.Just an old cynic opining here.

262 Sabraguy  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 11:52:18am

Each rocket that lands in Sderot should be filled with bacon-fat and fired back at Hamas HQ - just to show our utter contempt for these people and the gutter religion they claim to follow.

#257 looking closely

Pretty much summed up the situation as it is. Israel CAN act harsh if it wants, that IS a possibility, as they certainly have the intel to act against richer targets related to the rocket fire. The issue is they can't pull it off without seriously endangering ground troops, which is a big No No, especially since Jenin, so it remains off the planning maps. Unless something happens to escalate the situation, things will remain the way they are more or less...

I lived with my family there and served the mandatory military service like everyone else, and as much as I've always looked up to Bugi (Ya'alon), whom I served under, he was never much of a politician and while he doesn't hide his views (which more or less cost him the continuation of his service as Chief of Staff), I think its safe to say that he won't be going into the political field much, however a shame it might be...

About Olmert - I hate the dude, but for someone who was never actually supposed to be in the role he's in (Sharon's condition and all that) the guy's just doing what little he can to keep things the way they are as he believes Sharon would want, albeit miserably. As much as i dislike the man, the distance from 'bumbling unsuccessful leader' to 'paid Traitor' is a great one indeed, especially given that a big chunk of the blame he gets for the events of the last war started FAR before he entered office...

re: #83 Judith

I'm also strongly in favor of turning off the electricity/water and closing the border crossings to everything, including food and medicine. I don't understand why Israel hasn't done this. Instead of doing it for 24 hours thogh, keep it in effect for as long as it takes. It's only when everyone in Gaza suffers will they understand what kind of "leaders" they've chosen for themselves.

Israel might also try a similar retribution to bulldozing the houses of a suicide bomber's family which seemed to work pretty well. How about bulldozing the city block of wherever the rockets get fired from?

265 insanity police  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 12:59:08pm

I hope Israel teaches those terrorists a lesson they won't forget.

The rest of my post is self-deleted.

266 kafir  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 1:00:41pm

Israel's response to this atrocity should be an overwhelming destruction of the first mile into Gaza bordering on Sderot, and then seizure and annexation of same. For each and every single rocket that lands from Gaza, the border over which it crossed is pushed back by 1 mile, and will never, ever be returned.

Lets see how willing they are to launch after it is made clear to them how much they stand to lose.

They don't mind dying, they just mind giving up real estate. Fine. That is their weak spot. Take it from them, and do not give it back. Make them absolutely unambiguously aware that this is the cost they will pay for their continuous targeting of civilians.

This is wishful thinking at best though, as Olmert appears to be without both a spine and testicles.

Hear O Israel. You need new leadership. Fast. At this point, Olmert is taking you to the same fantasy Island that the leadership was headed towards in 1973. Hello.... anyone with a clue at home? Olmert needs to go. Now. It it means that the citizens take to the street and force him to abdicate, you must do this to survive. Find someone with the testicular fortitude to respond in a disproportionate manner, and teach the Gazanimals a lesson that will make them think twice about another launch. Olmert ain't it.

267 Edward Halper  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 2:17:23pm

It's surprising the Jihad's comments were printed because they undermine the usual moral equivalency line of the MSM. Israeli defenses sadly result in the death of Palestinian kids, but the Palestinians target Israeli kids.

268 jcr  Mon, Sep 3, 2007 3:50:16pm

It seems to me that an ultimatum is in order. Either the Hamassholes cut this shit out, or Israel re-occupies Gaza and deports everyone in the territory to the coasts of Sinai.

Its madness there now, lets make dial that madness back to the stone age.

275 agtiger  Tue, Sep 4, 2007 8:43:55pm

Seems the Jerusalem Post has significantly changed the text of the article the original link goes to... Gone is the mention of the Kuds-3 rockets or the statement taking credit for the attack by Islamic Jihad. In fact, this article-rewrite is a very dumbed-down version compared to the original copy Charles posted in this post. It doesn't even contain the word 'wounded'.

What I can't figure out is why the Jerusalem Post would dumb their article down like this?

276 EE  Tue, Sep 4, 2007 8:55:55pm

Olmert did not mention any form of deterrence against rocket attacks from Hamastan (the Gaza Strip). None at all.
