Religion of Peace Plotting in Germany

Wed, Sep 5, 2007 at 7:51:48 am PDT

Three Muslims have been arrested in Germany for plotting “massive attacks” against Frankfurt International Airport and the United States’ Ramstein Air Base.

And they were living on Germany’s unemployment benefits while they hatched their schemes.

THREE men arrested in Germany had formed a terror cell to carry out “massive” bomb attacks, among the biggest on German soil, authorities say.

“They were planning massive attacks,” federal prosecutor Monika Harms told reporters today. She said the suspects had amassed vast amounts of the chemical needed to make the bombs used in the suicide attacks in London in 2005 which killed 56 people.

They planned to attack Frankfurt’s international airport along with the Ramstein Air Base, a key US military hub, Harms said. They also planned to hit and nightspots popular with Americans. “As possible targets for the attacks, the suspects named discotheques and pubs and airports frequented by Americans,” she said.

The trio had trained at camps in Pakistan run by the Islamic Jihad Union, and had formed a German cell of the group, officials said. They had procured some 700kg of hydrogen peroxide for making explosives. Officials said the 35-per cent solution of hydrogen peroxide, stored in a hideout, could have been mixed with other additives to produce a bomb with the explosive power of 550kg of TNT.

“This would have enabled them to make bombs with more explosive power than the ones used in the London and Madrid bombings,” Joerg Ziercke, the head of Germany’s Federal Crime Office, told reporters.

The three suspects - two Germans and a Turk - first came to the attention of authorities because they had been observing a US military facility at the end of 2006, officials said. The two Germans, aged 22 and 28, were converts to Islam. The Turk was aged 29.

Ziercke said of The Islamic Jihad Union: “This group distinguishes itself through its profound hatred of US citizens.” ...

The three had no steady work and were drawing unemployment benefits while their main occupation was the plot, officials said.

Muslim congressman joins anti-Semitism panel

A civil rights group is questioning whether U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., a Muslim who has compared President Bush to Adolf Hitler and has spoken for a group that endorses the death of Jews, should be serving on a congressional committee dealing with anti-Semitism.

"It is highly offensive for a congressional task force on anti-Semitism to allow a man that willingly speaks in front of anti-Semitic groups to be associated with its organization," said Joe Kaufman, president of Americans Against Hate, which also calls itself a terror watchdog organization. "[The Congressional Task Force on Anti-Semitism] needs to end its relationship with Ellison immediately."

On his website, Ellison has announced his decision to join the task force for the 110th Congress.

US B-52 'in nuclear cargo error'
A B-52 bomber flew across the US last week mistakenly loaded with up to six nuclear-armed missiles, unnamed air force officials are quoted as saying.

The missiles were unaccounted for during a three-hour flight from a North Dakota air base to one in Louisiana.

Air Force spokesman Lt-Col Ed Thomas told Army Times the weapons were "always in our custody".

Army Times said the missiles were to be decommissioned but were mistakenly mounted on the bomber's wings.

The W80-1 warhead has a yield of five to 150 kilotons, the paper said.

These arrests appear to be related to the Danish arrests. Also:

City discusses impeachment

The Madison City Council was scheduled to vote on a resolution early Wednesday morning that would call for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney — but as of press time, the vote did not occur.

To rally support for this resolution, a group of citizens assembled outside the City-County building, where the council meeting was held, prior to the vote.

Supporters marched up and down the block bearing signs, flags, and symbolic coffins labeled “Iraqi child” and “U.S. soldier.” The theme for the rally, advertised on the leading banner, was “How many more must die?”

At no time was there a risk for a nuclear detonation, even if the B-52 crashed on its way to Barksdale, said Steve Fetter, a former Defense Department official who worked on nuclear weapons policy in 1993-94. A crash could ignite the high explosives associated with the warhead, and possibly cause a leak of the plutonium, but the warheads' elaborate safeguards would prevent a nuclear detonation from occurring, he said.

Bauer would have handled it.

While I liked the concept of 24, I could never get past the wooden stereotypical Serbian terrorists in season 1. I've known lots of Serbs—none were even close to being terrorists. The only Serbian terrorist is William Clinton.

Isn't that the main stumbling block to immigration reform? So many of the people who come here are just such nice people. And they get here themselves rather than putting on the sorting hat of some corrupt bureaucracy as would be required to come legally. So we may be getting the immigrants with the most initiative, the most drive, the most care for making things better for their kids, etc.

That said, many criminal or terror types join in, the schools (especially elementary and middle schools) tank, and diseases that we've pretty much licked are back (although the response seems to be to keep on top of boosters for the kids who think they're done with shots!). It's a matter of it getting to be too many at once, not wanting immigrants not to come.

Yes, one is:

Agents had been on the heels of the group surrounding 28-year-old Fritz G. -- one of those taken into custody on Tuesday -- since the end of 2006. Together with Daniel S. -- likewise a German who had converted to Islam -- and a 22-year-old Turkish man from Hesse named Adem Y., Fritz G. is thought to have founded an Islamist group that was even prepared to carry out suicide attacks in Germany.

Here's a slide show at Spiegel Online. The caption for number 9 of 12 is this:

Police searched the Islamic Information Center in Ulm Wednesday. The sign on the door reads: "Islam is Peace!"

The three had no steady work and were drawing unemployment benefits while their main occupation was the plot, officials said.

In Orange County CA this AM anther muslim on welfare wants to sue police after she was forced to remove her headscarf while sitting in jail on welfare fraud chages.

What is it about the West that all these countries let these people in then put them up and allow the breeding/plotting to begin?

Cultural suicide?

Call it stupidity or political correctness. Your choice. No real difference.

Hey folks-can't you just leave these bung-holymen and their burka bungettes alone. They only seek to kill us with kindness on their allah-fullfillment missions. They're doing allah's work damn it. Leave them in peace.

Fact Alert

I watched the Press Conference live and somehow this little gem didn't make it into the english MSM News.

Months ago the Police had already exchanged the 35% peroxide solution they wanted to use for manufacturing their bombs with a liquid, that did in fact only contain 3% peroxide.
Producing bombs with this kind of "dummy" would have been impossible.

:-)

Since the terror's wanted to start brewing up explosives they would have caught on sooner or later, hence the apprehension of them yesterday.

Oh, goody! I'm flying into Frankfort from the States today on my way back to Tel Aviv. This means the Frankfort airport employees will be even ruder and more stressed out than normal.

I've been away for a month where I couldn't get LGF (awful!) so this is probably old news to everyone here, but I just read America Alone by Mark Steyn and it was fantastic. Definitely a must read.

Ziercke said of The Islamic Jihad Union: “This group distinguishes itself through its profound hatred of US citizens.” ...

Hardly a distinguishing characteristic.

Islamic Jihad Union must be some off-shoot of the Democratic Party.

A nice bite of word salad from Huffpo.

As we have always said, good police work beats illegally invading other countries, as far as catching terrorists and other criminals is considered.

Of course, you don't get any oil doing it that way.

How about good police work and legally invading other countries that harbor, fund, and support terrorism the way we have done in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Anybody else ever notice how everything is always an either/or with these nut-jobs that write crap like this?

This is a false argument too because we all know that when good police work does catch terrorists before they can kill, the terrorists are always innocent and the big, bad govt is the villain. It's not that what they want is for all the terrorists to be locked up forever so they can never kill innocent people, it's that they use the argument as just another tool of deception to make us underestimate our enemies.

You've obviously never been to an islamic country have you? They are the biggest homoerotic weirdos on the planet. its a gays dream society, except of course for the whole stoning to death bit! What i mean is that there are never any women to be seen, and the guys always lounging around even holding HANDS. I swear i saw that when i was in egypt. its just too weird.

In Turkey too. I was still a very young adult and quite naive of Islam and I kept saying "where are all the women". Oh, the blissful ignorance of youth.

Is it really possible for people to be any more rude than the Germans are? Rudeness isn't the exception there, it's the rule. I would be typing for pages and pages if I were to list my stories but the one that really says it all was when my friend asked this German guy in a bar if she could borrow his lighter and when she said "thanks", he went on a tangent about how he can't stand how polite Americans are and asked why we go around saying thanks, please, your welcome, etc all the time. So I said to him (since she was too stunned to speak) "well in that case, Thanks asshole". I loved my German great-grandparents and grandfather so it's hard to reconcile that with how I feel about the culture in Germany but maybe that's why my strain left.

re: #184 AirForceWife

Yep. We win the European rudeness-cup, no doubts there. But deep down, beneath our harsh shells lies our soft and friendly inner self, at least I hope so :-)

I think we weren't meant to be friendly, but I hardly ever met one of my fellow countrymen/women who , when approached bluntly enough :-) , refused to help and that is probably close to the truth.

Something my foreign college mates have all experienced as well. Niceties are reserved for close friends and loved ones in Germany, still - a helping hand will most of times instantly be readily available.

I have found this to be a difficulty for the polite people of the Anglo-Saxon culture.

Pat, what's your take on what the people around you are saying? Can you gauge whether or not they consider this a real threat to Germany?

LOL........that does sound like my Great-aunts. The only one still living is about 78 and because she never had children, has been more of a grandmother to me than a great-aunt. To go out in public with her is an exercize in how much embarrassment I can take. I was just in S. Cal a couple of week-ends back and took her out to eat and grocery shopping and I just wanted to die at how she would loudly treat people so rudely. I can't help but to love her to death because she has been truly wonderful to me my whole life. Treats her family completely differently than she treats other people. One day, my Mom even said to her "how would you like it if someone talked to Gracie like that?" which is my cousin (her great niece that she adores). Because she had just barked at a little kid in line that bumped into her. Didn't get a response on that one.

LMAO. Excellent reply. From my point of view (being German), Germans are easily standard winners of the rudeness world cup, but mostly to people they don't know. You get along with friends, all others are well... not your friends.

On the other hand, if you walk around Paris and ask the French for something, do not expect zem to ave a positive mood all of the time, just sayin'...

re: #186 Lombard1985

As a regular LGF reader I can only say this: The majority of the American/German public is currently in denial. Doubtlessly the events today will have awoken some more ppl. the anti-Islamic movement in Germany is gaining, but we have the exact same problems with the MSM as youi guys across the pond have.
Our secretary of state, said today, and I kid you not, "All religions are peaceful". You see, for the time being, PC wins.

I mean, look at the moonbats in the US: You guys had the WTC demolished and 3000 ppl killed. Now, six years later ppl still talk about how "Islam is peace". I fear, that the Germans will only ever wake up (for a limited time only ;-) when something really bad happens. Sad, but unfortunately I think, that's the way MSM + "the masses" equation works.

#184 AirForceWife

Thank you for telling me this. I appreciate it. :-] (forced German smile)

Check out this website (in German). It lists many events concerning Islam that are not mentioned in the MSM. Scary.

re: #189 PatFromGermany

Pat,

Thank you for the reply, and I agree. Even after 9/11, I still wasn't aware of what the West truly faced and only through the wisdom provided by people like Robert Spencer and sites like LGF, Gates of Vienna, and Jihad Watch did I become 'enlightened' so to speak. The MSM are part of the problem and so are our political elites. It's up to the masses to educate ourselves and spread the word.

196 siiras  Wed, Sep 5, 2007 6:44:55pm

It's no accident that Muslim terrorists train and plot in Germany (remember Mohammed Atta?) where the political atmosphere is permeated with the most corrosive kind of anti-Americanism and welcomes any "enemy of the enemy". It is sickening how their entire media spins every story to blame the evil Americans and their "cowboy" President.

Clearly Germans continue to hold a grudge from WWII but it's very very curious why no venom whatsoever is directed at Russia. Half of Germany, the East, was run like a giant detention center and slum thanks to the Russians. The other half, rebuilt through the Marshall Plan thrived. And whom do the Germans hate? The ones who oppressed half their nation with the same spying, shortages and rationing that went on in the Soviet Union and who shot anyone trying to escape over the Wall? Or the country that gave them a hand up, to get them back on their feet? That's right. They bite the hand that fed them, just like the other ungrateful stepsister, France.

Note that two of the would-be bombers are German converts to Islam, who undoubtedly converted because the main occupation of that religion appears to be killing Americans (and Jews...with whom Germans already had one go-around).
