-RetweetVideo: Muslim Student Association Harasses Women and Jews at UTSA

Thu, Sep 6, 2007 at 10:01:46 am PDT

This is what the Muslim Student Association is doing on American campuses, in a video apparently shot by an MSA member at the University of Texas at San Antonio using the name “dawahworks.”

The title of the video is: The Missing Hijab 2 & the Jew.

You’re not going to believe this, as he thuggishly harasses a female Muslim student to explain why she isn’t wearing the hijab, and justifies forcing it on all women with quotes from the Koran.

And it gets worse, when he moves on to a Jewish student. The sense of menace is almost palpable.

“What would you think is the biggest accomplishment of the Jews in America? 9/11?”

Youtube Video

This is sick and disturbing beyond belief.

There's more. If you go to their web site, there is another of them harassing a female Muslim over the Hijab.

Hard to believe that a University in the great state of Texas would allow this kind of stuff.

The classic Muslim rhetorical trick - inversion. America is terrorist. The Jews did 9/11. The Israelis are genocidal murderers. The Christians are waging a crusade.

Charles - Somewhat related breaking news.

You can bet the MSA from the University of Michigan will be on hand for this one. The GOP prez debate of October 9 will be held in Dearborn, Michigan, (aka the Arabia of Midwest). Debate is expected to be couched around the auto industry in the rust-belt and the economy in general.
Debate will be hosted by UM, CNBC and WSJ.

But, you can't bring this event to Dearborn and not talk about Islamists - impossible - the moonbats (and goonbats) at UM will likely not stand for it.

Islamo-fascist harrassment alleged @ Univ of Houston?

Another week, another Two Minutes Hate (read George Orwell's 1984) from Sousan Hammad, the Daily Cougar's Embedded Islamist.

Seriously, how many more of her "OMG teh JOOZ r teh EVIL!" rants are we expected to endure? How many more times will she be allowed to blatantly lie, with no honest fact-checking done regarding her hate-incitement?

The last time one of my friends spoke up against Hammad and the UH MSA's rampant hate, she sent her goon squad to try to rough them up and intimidate them.

UH needs to say enough is enough. Enough of Sousan Hammad's Two Minutes Hate. Enough of the incitement to hate and genocide, enough terrorist propaganda, and enough lies from her.

I hereby promise: every time this little islamist comes by with her propaganda, we WILL answer it with the truth.

The student was responding to this al-Qaeda propaganda piece by the student newspaper's opinion editor;

U.S. silencing of Guantanamo poetry unjust

...Whether the prisoners are guilty is moot; it is unfair and unjust to deny them the right of poetry. It would be an entirely different story if their writings were politically motivated, but [But, BUT!] their writings are but a mere story, an art form to describe their feelings. Pablo Neruda, the Chilean poet, wrote that he never searched for poetry; it instead was in search for him.

For prisoners - whether in Guantanamo Bay or in the Palestinian Territories - poetry helps ease frustration. It helps to break up the structure of time, and it helps to give prisoners hope that maybe, just maybe, their prison walls will one day disappear.

I wish he had talked to me.

How do you feel about the hijab?

The hijab is a political invention circa late 1950s started by a Muslim Brotherhood cleric as political statement in Lebanon. In fact, the Koran does not support the covering of woman's heads. Headcoverings and veils for women are tribal customs that predate Mohammed. What Mohammed himself said on the topic is that Muslim woman should dress modestly and cover their breasts. I do not support the wearing of the hijab because it is either an act of political solidarity with radical Islam or it is an attempt to conform by those who ignorant of the Koran. Plus the hijab makes women look really ugly. Muslim women who want to conform to preIslam tribal customs should really check out some of the other head coverings like some of the traditional Pakistan or Afghan nonBurka head coverings which are much more flattering.

I have actually said this and it shocks people. I also know at least one woman who had started wearing a hijab who quit after she investigated and found out I was right.

Back in 1970 I lived in a small city in Texas named Athens. It was a college town, and I had noticed that there were quite a few foreign citizens there. I knew nothing about them or Islam. I just let them alone.
Later I found out they were Iranians.

Then came the takeover of the US embassy in Tehran and it was all over the news. I happened to drive into town the day that the news broke, and there they were at the city square demonstrating and carrying signs. I said WTF. Then all of a sudden about four pickup trucks rolled up and some of those good ol' East Texas boys bailed out of those trucks and began to do some very serious ass kicking. There was Iranian teeth, hair, and eyeballs all over the place. They got the shit kicked out of them while the homefolks watched. Then the Sheriff deputies showed up and broke it up.

After that, you very seldom saw any of those Iranians. They stayed in the dorms, and never said another word. Soon they were all gone from Athens.

Simply unbelievable. Of course UT won't do a da*n thing about it either. Can you imagine if a white student walked around campus with a white sheet around him a la the KKK and asked "what has the black man done for America"?

He'd be thrown out of school, plastered all over the news, and run out of town. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would show up demanding sensitivity indoctrination, I mean training, et al. Yet this episode will get almost no attention outside the blogosphere. Pathetic.

It's a scary list. Jews have contributed more than any race or group of people I can think of. Maybe Muslims just have penis envy. *shrugs*

I wish that both of the interviewees had articulated a strong personal philosophy more stridently- but then, they would have been cut from the video. I bet this dipwad got a few more energetic responses than he's showing us that probably still were too polite for my taste.

I do like how neither of them backed down. I would have liked to hear a little of...

"Why don't YOU cover your sorry self up so we don't have to look at you.", and "Jews caused 9-11? What are you, nuts?"

...but then this was a university and the kids weren't expecting a confrontation, just the novelty of being interviewed. We all need to be able to say clearly what is right and wrong in whatever forum we find ourselves, and on short notice.

re: #36 NelsFree

The interviewer looked Black. The ancestors of most Black Americans were captured in Africa by Muslim raiders and sold into slavery. Many of these slaves were brought to America. I wonder if he is aware of that?

He was probably told that all Black Americans were Muslims, until the Christians captured them, robbing them of religion along with their freedom, that Christianity is a "white" religion, and to be true to their roots, they should "come home" to Islam.

None of it is true, but it likely what he was told. The truth, besides your points, is that slavery of blacks by Islam continues to this day, such as in Mauritania. In the book Infidel, Hirsi Ali tells how horrid life was in the Kingdom for a Somalian. In the Sudan, after the genocide/ethnic cleansing of the Christians and animists in the south wound down, the Islamists moved on to killing black Muslims.

But six men grabbed them, yelling Arabic slurs such as "zurga" and "abid," meaning "black" and "slave." Then the men raped them, beat them and left them on the ground, they said.

"They grabbed my donkey and my straw and said, 'Black girl, you are too dark. You are like a dog. We want to make a light baby,'

The student was responding to this al-Qaeda propaganda piece by the student newspaper's opinion editor;
U.S. silencing of Guantanamo poetry unjust
...Whether the prisoners are guilty is moot; it is unfair and unjust to deny them the right of poetry.

See also al-Qaeda Training Manual Chapter 13 - Secret Writing And Ciphers And Codes

This is also untrue, the prisoners are allowed to write as much as they want, they just aren't allowed to send it anywhere. One of the detainees who was released wrote a book inside that was published in Urdu and English in Pakistan post-release. So this is untrue.

New legal clinic to examine 'war on terror' cases

A new legal clinic at the UT School of Law will undertake legal cases resulting from the war on terror.

Law students working at the National Security and Human Rights Clinic will serve as advocates for Guantanamo Bay detainees and offer objective expertise in other cases. Students will also work on the rendition project, which deals with the transfer of individuals from the detention facility to another country, where they're likely to be tortured, said Kristine Huskey, director of the clinic.

"This is a really great opportunity for the coming together of all aspects of law, law students and professors," she said.

US Democratic hopeful Kucinich meets Assad, blasts Bush

US Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich, on a Mideast visit that included a stop in Syria, said the country lambasted by the Bush administration deserves credit for taking in more than a million Iraqi refugees.

Kucinich, a strong anti-war opponent who trails far in the US presidential polls, also said he won't visit Iraq on his trip to the region because he considers the US military deployment there illegal.

"I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation ... I don't want to bless that occupation with my presence," he said in an interview in Lebanon, after visiting Syria. "I will not do it."

Kucinich, who accused the Bush administration of policies that have destabilized the Mideast, met with Syrian President Bashar Assad during his visit to Damascus. He said Assad was receptive to his ideas of "strength through peace."

He also praised Syria for taking in Iraqi refugees.

"What most people are not aware of is that Syria has taken in more than 1.5 million Iraqi refugees," Kucinich said. "The Syrian government has actually shown a lot of compassion in keeping its doors open, and being a host for so many refugees."

DEVELOPING STORY: Federal counterterrorism officials are analyzing a posting on an Islamic forum Web site that warns of "a special gift" to be given on the sixth anniversary of Sept. 11, FOX News has learned.
The warning was posted Sept. 2 on a site frequented by radical groups and said in part that "there will be a special gift coming on the day of the blessed invasion of Manhattan."
Federal officials told FOX News they are trying to determine if it might be a specific warning or just part of broad chatter that has been heard during the last few months.
Postings talking about "gifts" have been seen before in the days leading up to the anniversary of Sept. 11.

The overwhelming majority of Jews reject violence by interpreting these texts in a constructive way, but a tiny, extremist minority chooses destructive interpretations instead, finding in the sacred words a vengeful, hateful God. Especially disturbing is the fact that the moderate majority, at least some of the time, decides to cower in the face of the fanatic minority — perhaps because they seem more authentic, or appear to have greater faith and greater commitment.

Note that the events of 9/11 all happened in states with gun control.

Um, no. As much as I support the second amendment, that statement if factually incorrect.

I was thinking, of course, of the planes that were boarded at Boston and Newark. My statement is that Texans are armed...some of us heavily armed. If any islamofascist wants to try violence here, he will be met with violence.

My idea post 911 was allow everyone with a concealed carry permit, take an airborne class, shoot - no shoot scenarios, proper ammo etc... then allow everyone who wanted to carry on board.

You're right and obviously more educated than I on the subject. Something I studied over 20 years ago. The symbiotic relationship was from the perspective of Christianity, specifically, to Judaisam. That it could not exist without Judaism - "it" being Christianity. I wish I could quote the source but it was too long ago. It's my own humble opinion, however, that religion causes too much separation. I prefer 'spirituality' over 'religion'.

Holocaust Survivor Will Recall Treblinka Escape in Kent Talk

...

In 1940, exactly one year after the non-aggression pact was signed by Russia and Germany, dividing Poland between the two countries, the Germans invaded Russia. "The Russian border was only 12 miles from Losice," he explained, "and the railroad station was only nine miles away. The Germans decided to invade Russia and they demanded that the men and boys work on the railroad lines in preparation for the invasion."

Mr. Weinstein was assigned to a labor camp but after four days was roughed up by the German guards and "the next day I escaped." He was captured by the Nazis and sent to a concentration camp but after 23 days escaped again and made his way back to his hometown. By then the Germans had established a ghetto in Losice and the Jewish police were required to turn him over. His father, Uszer Wajnsztajn, feared that his son would be killed if the Germans had him back in their hands and offered to go in his stead.

His father's sacrifice was almost made in vain. By 1940, many Jews from neighboring towns were flooding into the little shetl, swelling the Jewish population from its pre-war level of 2,900-about two-thirds of the town's population-to more than 5,500. Most of these immigrants were taken in by Losice families, stretching municipal resources to the limit.

Conditions in the ghetto were very hard, and worsened more with each new wave of refugees.

But as yet, most of the Losice Jews were not aware of the murderous intent of their oppressors. "The older people used to say, 'It will cool down,'" Mr. Weinstein remembered. "In 1940, they started to empty the towns near the German border, so 1,500 Jews came to our town, but there were no ghettos yet. When they started taking people in 1942, they said they were taking them to work in the occupied territories of Russia. In the beginning, the people didn't know. The Germans killed here and there a few people-in my town they killed six Jewish men in one night to put fear into the Jewish people-but it was nothing like extermination."

Then the destruction of the Jews took on a frightening new efficiency. "It started in Russia," Mr. Weinstein recalled. "The Einsatzgruppen were shooting people but then they realized that was not such a good system, what they were doing. It was clear that the method was not efficient and that everyone in the non-Jewish population could see it. So they came up with the death camps."
In August 1942, the S.S. sealed the ghetto and rounded up the Jewish families in the central square. They were herded in the direction of the town of Mordy, but on the outskirts of Losice, German soldiers opened fire, murdering about 200, mostly women and children. The remainder of the Jews walked on in rows in the direction of the train station of Siedlce, a march that saw another 800 killed. The surviving Jews were transported by train to Treblinka.

After the deportation, the Germans reduced the Losice ghetto's scope to contain some 200 Jews still hidden in the environs. The Germans made no effort to round them up, but advised all hidden Jews to return to the ghetto, assuring them that they would not be harmed. Many believed them and came back in from the forests. They lived in improvised wooden shacks and worked at different jobs, including assembling the possessions left behind by their fellow Jews. On Nov. 27, 1942, the "Small Ghetto" was destroyed and the last Jews of Losice were deported to Treblinka. Three hundred years of Jewish history in the town had ended.

Mr. Weinstein, his brother, Israel, and his mother were among those rounded up in the first wave of deportation. "We stayed together while we were being rounded up by the Nazis," he has written.

Incredible story...read the whole thing.

Again it depends entirely on the Conservative shul. Ours, for example is populated by a few Liberals but there are also shomer shabbot and shomer kashrut folks and more than a few of our women are also observant about taharat haMishpacha.

Now I did attend a Conservative congregation on my visit to Israel and I was stunned. I thought I had walked into a Reform congregation. They actually had a guitar accompaniment for Kabbalot Shabbot services.

Conservative is also often a comfortable stopping spot for the quasi assimilated whose kids then move back into more observant Judaism. I've seen it a lot over the years.

Note the young woman's reflexive moral relativism, from which she draws the conclusion that nobody can tell anybody else what is right or wrong. So the only way to settle any disagreement is by force, and of course there are some who are only to happy to use it. Meanwhile she has made it impossible for herself to say they are wrong. Add this problem to the ignorance exhibited by the young man being interviewed, and you get a good sense of the toxic atmosphere at many of our institutions of higher learning and further insight into why so many in the West cannot face up to the challenge facing us.

Iran Allegedly Skirts Hezbollah Arms Ban

A year after the United Nations imposed a ban on arms sales to Hezbollah in the wake of its 2006 clash with Israel, the Shiite group in southern Lebanon is rearming. Iran and Syria have been implicated in the weapons buildup.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon issued a report June 28 on implementation of last year’s UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a permanent cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon, implements an arms embargo on Hezbollah, and requires disarmament of the group, which the United States and some other Western countries have designated a terrorist organization. The 34-day war began last year when Israel launched a July military offensive into southern Lebanon after Hezbollah militants there abducted two Israeli soldiers. (See ACT, October 2006.)

In his report, Ban furnished details of extensive armaments smuggling across the Syria-Lebanon border to Hezbollah, as well as to Palestinian militants. Israel asserts these transfers occur weekly. One such incident occurred June 5, when Lebanese troops in the Bekaa Valley seized a truckload of rockets and mortars destined for Hezbollah. Ban termed the clandestine weapons shipments “of great concern” and in “clear violation” of Resolution 1701.

In a separate report, a UN team of experts tasked with assessing the situation along the Lebanese border concluded June 26 that Lebanese border guards demonstrated a “worrying lack of performance.” The Security Council had commissioned this fact-finding mission, citing “mounting information” on breaches of the arms embargo.

Although the Lebanese army deployed last fall more than 8,000 troops to guard the 250-kilometer boundary with Syria, the UN team determined that Lebanese security forces lacked adequate resources to accomplish their objective. Moreover, the experts faulted border guards for instances of “corruption.” Still, in recent months Hezbollah has publicly protested the seizure of its munitions by Lebanese authorities.

The majority faction of the Lebanese parliament issued a January statement contending that “forces directly affiliated with Syrian intelligence” were transporting weapons into Lebanon. Syria’s government denies any involvement, but an Israeli official told Arms Control Today Aug. 3 that Hezbollah is “feverishly receiving major supplies” from Syria.

Add this problem to the ignorance exhibited by the young man being interviewed, and you get a good sense of the toxic atmosphere at many of our institutions of higher learning and further insight into why so many in the West cannot face up to the challenge facing us.

you are right. maybe the best we can say is at least she didn't have on a burqa and didn't seem inclined to wear one in the near future. she seems clear on that.

Tech question for all you geeks:

Say that someone traced someone else's IP address. (A visitor to a Web page, for a example.) They'd get a result, a number that looked like 12.3.456.789 or whatever.

What exactly does that number represent? It is the identifying number for the individual computer that the visitor is using? Or is it the identifying number for a particular address? Or is it the identifying number for the company's "router" for a certain geographical area? Or what?

Say, for example, that two people, in the same office and using the same internet connection, both visited the same Web page -- but they were using two different computers. Would they appear to have the same IP address?

What if two different people were sitting in the same internet cafe, using two different computers, but both surfing on the same WiFi signal: would they have the same IP address?

What if one person had a laptop, visited a Web page from home using his or her home internet connection, then took the same laptop to, say, a school and visited the same Web page using the school's internet connection? Would it still appear as the same IP number, or two different IP numbers?

Sorry, that was more than one question. But inquiring minds want to know!

The best way to describe muslim converts, like those in the video or those in Germany who were planning the attacks is to compare to them to somebody with a huge case of buyers remorse. You know that feeling you get after ordering that must have gadget advertised by Billy Mays only to get a sinking feeling in your stomach when you hang up the phone. Except in the case of muslim conversion you can't cancel the order and the only way you get out of the deal is to die. I guess if you got snookered like that you might just get enraged enough to want to take some other folks with you. It beats dying of embarrsement for being such a fool.

re: #369 zombie

The original design of the Internet was for each network interface, such as a cable modem or an Ethernet network card, to have its own IP address. So a single computer may have more than one IP address, but all of the users on that computer would share that address. The current situation is that IP addresses can represent anything from a single network interface to a multi-campus company-wide network. Also, nowadays addresses often change from time to time.

The most information you can gleam from an IP address, without snooping around the network where it belongs, is the identity of the company that "bought" it from the Internet infrastructure gods. That company may be the Internet cafe where you are surfing through wi-fi, or the big ISP which provides the Internet service to that cafe (this scenario is more likely).

The IP does not identify the machine, the encoded hexadecimal address on the Network interface Card of the machine does (aka MAC address.) Two machines can share an IP to the network or not depending on the way the subnets /vlans/DHCP and IP natting etc. are set up. To track down an IP to a machine takes a true geek and/or someone who works for the ISP with a sniffer. The geek gets there by using available IP tools, but those can be "spoofed". To do that you have to alter the header packet to disguise real IP and MAC addresses.
To see how to really blog anon here's a good resource:
[Link: advocacy.globalvoicesonline.org...]

The notion that you can fully be anonymous is specious, no matter what you do you can be tracked down depending on resources. (e.g. The major ISPs can find you if driven to do so by authorities.)

IP numbers are owned by companies, usually in blocks. Yes, if you know how the code works you can determine geographical area from the IP number.

Say, for example, that two people, in the same office and using the same internet connection, both visited the same Web page -- but they were using two different computers. Would they appear to have the same IP address?

I will ask my kid the geek how this works and get back to you.

What if two different people were sitting in the same internet cafe, using two different computers, but both surfing on the same WiFi signal: would they have the same IP address?

I'm pretty sure that individual computers can be distinguished, but will have to ask GeekGirl how that works exactly. Answer should be forthcoming soon, since she is currently online.

What if one person had a laptop, visited a Web page from home using his or her home internet connection, then took the same laptop to, say, a school and visited the same Web page using the school's internet connection? Would it still appear as the same IP number, or two different IP numbers?

Different IP numbers. IP number goes with the connection, not the machine.

IP 101

The address you see is the for that networks contact point with the internet. Behind that contact point that network will have it's own set of IP address.

It's not likely you can id a machine by IP, just the network. For example you you tracked my comments you'd find the IP is in San Jose at the point my companies network interfaces with the web. When I go home you see my comments originating at my ISP. Same computer same person different set of connections.

Ploome, modern Orthodox is a mass of contradictions in itself. Attempting to creatively interpret gender divisions that cannot be interpreted any other way than what they are creates a mishmash. You either believe in discrimination against women, or you do not. Do I think G-d has this in mind? No way. How could Devorah have been a judge? But the rabbis of the time of extreme misogynistic eras unfortunately took those times and swallowed it whole, spitting it out to the ultra-orthodox who choose to keep it close to their heart..not terribly different than the muslims and their 7th century beliefs, although far more humane. The rivalry and dissent I've seen between the modern orthodox and mainstream is not much different than between that and conservative or that and reform. Are they more Jewish? I doubt it. Are they more fundamentalist? Undoubtedly. As much as I grieve for the liberalism and lack of education of the reform, I don't know if modern orthodox is the answer either.

re: #369 zombie

Bad news is that it is hard to say what the IP address refers to. Back in the "old days" the IP address was the exact, single computer where the message/packet/whatever came from. However, with the deployment of Network Address Translators (NAT) it could be any number of computers sharing a single address. Most commonly used in home, small office or WiFi cafe type places. It's harder to determine the exact source in those cases (unless you have access to the NAT box and it's logs of who sent what), but can be narrowed down to a small number (say an office or something).

One quick way to see where an IP address may lead is to do a WHOIS search at ARIN (www.arin.net). They have a web interface and it can narrow down the address to who claims to have it (or the block of addresses). However, if it returns a general ISP (say Comcast, Yahoo! or something), it gets hard to say exactly who sent it. Simply because ISP's often dynamically assign numbers based on who is up and running at the moment - and they can change over time (but not constantly) and the NAT boxes that are common for people who use Comcast, Verizon, and other major ISP's. Sometimes you get lucky though. If the problem/harassment continues and you know the ISP the traffic is coming from, they usually have an abuse hotline you can contact.

Hope that helps get you started.

This WIKI seems to explain it fairly well. Just read it very slowly and go back to it once in a while and it will sink in. It's worthwhile having a thorough understanding of. Most of the jihadists are clueless and think they are somehow 100% safe from detection and that just ain't so.

I read the wiki description, but it just left me more confused.

zombie,
There are a number of different IP addresses.
Floating [as in the case with dial-up] and stationary [dsl or high speed]. I also know that yahoo IP's can come up if sending email from a yahoo account. Yahoo floats IPs every week or so.

If two people used a laptop from a college library you'd see the library IP. If you took that same laptop home, you'd see the home IP.

Hope that helps!

Yes, it does help!

A glimmering of comprehension in my mind.

456 Thanos  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 11:52:29am

A good example of spoofing an IP can be seen by checking the users who post jihadi vids on Liveleak -- one appears to be coming from a french protectorate Island deep in the pacific.. but times of his posting match up more with UK zones.

ISC is good at treatises & contacts on how to track down IP's

re: #407 justnobody

re: #369 zombie

Ahhh, more clarity. Thx!

Don't know if you guys caught that Charles has updated this thread with a link to Protein Wisdom.

This puts diversity advocates and university administrators in quite a bind, I should think. Because to “tolerate” the political activism of the MSA, the university must simultaneously allow for “hatred” against women and Jews (the latter not really much of a problem, of course — provided the wretched Zionists don’t threaten to sue). Unless, that is, one is able to alter what constitutes “hate” by simultaneously altering the feminist narrative to conclude that Muslim women who “Americanize” are somehow traitors to their own cultural foundationalism, and so shouldn’t be granted the protections of American women who are treated as kitchen and laundry room chattel. Which argument, here, would manifest itself with nothing much more than a deafening silence from the Women’s Studies Department.

Surrender enthusiasts contemplate giving up. NYT:

WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 %uFFFD With a mixed picture emerging about progress in Iraq, Senate Democratic leaders are showing a new openness to compromise as they try to attract Republican support for forcing at least modest troop withdrawals in the coming months.

We were for surrender before we were against it.

Maybe a better title is "Dems do what they do best and surrender to the Republicans"
When a Fwenchman isn't handy use a Dem for your surrender.
Al Queda wouldn't accept our surrender so we are left with surrendering to the Republicans.

I'd say comparing Frenchmen to Democrats gives Frenchmen a bad name, but I don't think that's possible. What did a Lizard tell me once. "go to France, say boo, and pick up dropped weapons"

Spot-on observation from Jeff at Protein Wisdom:

In this case, the contortions of university logic would likely go something like this: the MSA is engaging in protected political speech, and so can confront others students, film those confrontations, and present it for consumption, even if the purpose is to recruit new ideologues for further harrassment.

However, the moment control over the context is wrested away by someone like Charles at LGF, Muslims are being unfairly targeted as objects of hate, and the criticism implicit in the re-contexualized airing of the video (on a site known for its criticism of Islamic fundamentalism) marks it as a performance of that hate, and so — insofar as such an airing can now be re-framed as “intolerant” — is no longer protected speech.

Or, to put such contortions into their most surreal formulation (inexorable, given the structure of progressive thinking): this video, shot by the MSA, is, once it is shown by someone the MSA would consider inauthentic, a hate crime against Muslims.

As much as I grieve for the liberalism and lack of education of the reform, I don't know if modern orthodox is the answer either.

it always makes me very uncomfortable to see Jewish practice and law interpreted through modern 'feminism'

Gender division, spitting out people, comparing to muslims

I have a feeling she doesn't know her koran very well. Or all of what her prophet revealed through "prophecy" from allah. That her prophet was told by allah for instance, that it's acceptable to use women captured from your enemy as sex slaves. She was just trying to set them free, spiritually speaking.

An arbitrator has ruled that a Rockland County jail chaplain who was accused of passing out anti-Islam religious literature be suspended without pay for 30 days and face retraining.

The ruling released yesterday comes after three days of testimony during the summer. Arbitrator Paul Bailey also recommended that the jail form a policy for the distribution of religious material.

The Rev. Teresa Darden Clapp had been charged by the county with eight administrative counts of misconduct following complaints by prisoners that she passed out religious cartoon booklets in April that condemned Islam and contained derogatory depictions and descriptions of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad.

re: #535 insanity police

Good question.

The problem, alas, is not merely the fact that the students are receptive, nor even that there are professors who are willing to enable and promote the ISM. It is that the ISM is an organization--who knows where it gets its funding? The PA (i.e., the UN)? The Saudis? Iran?--which can pay organizers to travel around to campuses and spread their poison.

I can think of any number of graphics for anti-ISM posters--e.g., a picture of a bullet-riddled marionette, with an appropriate caption about the puppetmasters who want students to volunteer for death or serious injury--but posters are easily torn down. They cannot compete with an on-campus operative.

So true.

We need more vocal on-campus pro-America/pro-Israel activists.

Definitely. We must also ingrain the teaching well enough that it can withstand the lies they tell on campus.

I'm hardly a feminist, Ploome. I am not equating the orthodox and the muslim concepts of worship. Far from it. Even you recommend modern orthodoxy which is an attempt to soften the fundamentalist interpretations of the more extreme version. A lunatic fringe does exist in that community as in virtually every other on earth, but it is the lunatic fringe that tries to stop an ambulance on shabbat, not the general community. But not for a minute do I believe there is a barrier between men and women in prayer so the men may concentrate on their prayer without distraction. Nor that a woman is still tied up in an unwilling marriage, needing the husband's consent, is for her own good. And for heaven's sake, wearing a wig because I'm married?

I'm with Judith on this one. I really don't know if there is a good middle ground. I went to the conservative shul for a while. What a political nightmare. I can see why zygazint is having a hard time.

Murder and Blackmail purchase respectability at the Toronto Star

The Toronto Star's Thomas Walkom, whose columns "inform" the values of mainstream Liberals, has now decided that the recent set of negotiations between the Taliban and the South Koreans should persuade us that the road to peace in Afghanistan may be paved with some Taliban diplomacy. Walkom thinks that South Korea's deal to gain the release of 19 South Korean Christian missionaries from the Taliban is one that should persuade us that we have a peace partner in Afghanistan.

Walkom writes, "It puts the lie to those, including the current Canadian government, who say it is impossible or counterproductive to strike a deal with the Islamist insurgents. Clearly South Korea found the talks quite productive."

So let me get this straight, Mr. Walkom: After the Taliban captured 21 missionaries, killed two of them and took a ransom payment of $20-million for the rest of them, you are telling us that we ought to think of the Taliban as legitimate partner in Afghan peacemaking. Thanks for the heads up Mr. Walkom. Now when Liberal mouth breathers start regurgitating this wickedly foul gumbo, we won't be shocked. The head choppers in Afghanistan are assured of victory if enough of us over here begin losing our heads.

'LGF: Satire? Foul!

Jewish people aren't religious? That's news to me. I am a proud, practicing Jew and an active member of a Conservative congregation where I attend religious services each and every Shabbat. There are many members of my congregation who are Jews by choice - and it would be news to them that Judaism is not a religion but a tradition granted by accident of birth.

Judaism is PRIMARILY a religion and also a way of life that is supported by many beautiful traditions - many of which are thousands of years old. But I will guarantee you that if you just think that Judaism is only about eating lox and bagels, going to the JCC, being a supporter of Israel, and using a cute Yiddish expression for your screen name - then it is likely that your children will be as uninformed about both their faith and their traditions as was the clueless guy who was interviewed by that despicable MSA moron.

Please don't make blanket statements like that. You demean yourself and those of us of faith.

I live in San Antonio and I was appalled by that video. I sent emails with links to youtube to all of my friends and relatives - including 3 of the Rabbis here in town. The UTSA Muslim student union should be sanctioned for pulling a stunt like that.

zaygazint yourself - and Shabbat Shalom v'Shanah Tovah,

Mike in San Antonio

by the way - I don't mind the word 'Jew' - unless it's used in a mean-spirited or pejorative manner.

re: #64 zygazint

I just tried to post a comment at youtube - I never know if it's going to let me post because I'm pro- 'Jew' - and I really hate being called 'Jew' - I'm Jewish. Jewish people aren't 'religious'. Judaism is not a 'religion'. It's a tradition. I wish the heads of all the Jewish Federations would spend some money on PR to combat disgusting videos and propaganda like this in our schools. Why don't they fight back with EDUCATION? When my son makes it to college I will do something if it hasn't started happening by then. Grrr this makes me so mad and so sad for kids today.

re: #637 Highrise

Honestly, when I see something that might deserve another POV, and I can make the point calmly and rationally, I do it. My intention is not

coming here to start shit (read a number of your backposts)..you crap all over threads

.

I've gotten reasonable replies in the past, people trying to rationally argue against my point. And even some agreement...

But if you all don't think there's room here for posts like my first one (#431), I'm outa here. What do you say, y'all?

So I checked your site, and your buddies at lgfwatch.

Why, precisely if at all possible, am I a "rabid racist"?

Use all the paper you want. I grew up a long time ago, so this is all real adult and peaceful. But you just spit in my face. To my knowledge, we've never met. Please explain yourself.

ploome (#671),

Dave Ray is a disgruntled banned LGFer. He still posts over at Discarded Lies. After 7/7 (he's a Brit) he decided to shut down LGF Watch, but Vaara and Winston Smith (a kos kid) took it over.

Their goal is to discredit LGF as a hate site, or something. Sad, obsessed lying stalkers (literally.)

Hi guys! Feel free to "quote" me on that.

See, I thought you were going to tell me he or they are proven antisemites or something. That would matter.

So a rather ineffectual site has set itself up in opposition to LGF, so what? When I've checked it out lately I've just seen some pretty emotional reactions. But surely you're big enough to take that.

Anyway, whatever. I started this with points to make. Other people quickly got personal (funny, that's what the troll is supposed to do.) I'm not interested, so I'm outahere.

Why is your blog backing lgfwatch.

681 Sven Svenson  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 2:46:53pm

I assume that the interviewer is a college student. Based upon this assumption I find it hillarious and enlightening that he can't pronounce the word "ask." But, he knows his koran or thinks he knows it. This video should be a basis for a comedy segment on Saturday Night Live.

689 OldLineTexan  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 3:17:25pm

Well, I asked bos an adult question in a polite manner back at #667, and I see from #679 that he's outahere {sic}, so I suppose I got the answer I expected, rather than the one I wanted. Well, that's life in the big city as they say.

Still, one day, I'd like to meet a "committed leftist" or a "committed liberal" that could/would actually answer a question.

Or, I think I'd like to. Perhaps God in His Infinite Mercy has decided to spare me that particular heart attack.

My condolences for having to deal with this person. Vitriol is her forte. Check back, if you will and see how she addressed the death of the pilot millionaire yesterday. She decided that no experienced pilot could make any such mistake. Her comments are final.
Today, when discussing Judaism, she "diss's" any form other than that proposed by here. she posits herself as a Jewish "pope", declaring which forms are acceptable.
Her response to your comment is, I afraid, very consistent with that of a harpy. Had you slammed her she would have sunk off and not have been heard from again for a day or so.
Please do not equat her ignorance with the rest of us here at LGF.

So if on another blog, I was posting answers in response to a raving Croatian American anti Semite Nazi(CAASN), you are saying he could track me down?

Well, I'll use myself as an example. By leaving a comment, you have left an I.P. address. The CAASN could use a site to look up the info on that I.P. In my case it would reveal that I use Comcast, and the location of the nearest Comcast switching information to my home. In my case there are maybe 100 to 250 homes within that one mile radius. My exact location? Nope, only if I had broken some law and a court order or other Federal official presented a demand to Comcast.

Haha, you're funny when you're literal. I asked the question nicely, and I got smarmy mouth in return. But I guess that's an answer in a way. One point for you.

I recommend that you compare the attitudes and generalizations on your site with your linked sites, and then to your experiences on LGF.

Then read your own advice above and see if you can find the cognitive dissonance. I did; hence the comments. Hmm, maybe you suffer from the disease you protest. And if it's not important to you, (a) why do it, then? and (b) it doesn't hurt my feelings, so no blood no foul.

None are so blind as those who refuse to see.

Or those that call others blind. And people in glass houses always throw the biggest stones.

Some people reject any evidence that doesn't conform with the Muslims Are Evil view. There are various sayings to go along with that, too.

Had to fix this in light of this:

#139 bos 1/20/07 8:49:16 am

I watched the clips. I'm laughing. It looks like a deadly cell of cigarette smugglers was indeed expertly cracked by the sharp FBI agents (deadly because smoking causes cancer). I counted five unsupported claims in just two clips. I can't believe Fox is serious about this extreme stretch, but of course it's par for the yellow journalists of TV.

Or to put it another way, if Hezbollah can't even get away with smuggling some cigs, the FBI is pretty much on top of things and there's not much to worry about, is there?

Of course, if you want to be afraid, that's your business (and Fox's).

Would you consider this real stuff?

701 Fasternu426  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 3:56:42pm

If that puke put a mike in my face I'd punch him in his shiny bald head and not stop there. Claiming the whole time "I was assaulted by a guy I thought had a weapon." It would fly here in Texas! 707 solomonpanting  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 4:39:59pm

Late to the thread, but...

The interviewer "axed" a question about something or other. I supposed it's lost on him just how ironic his multicultural perversion of English is so apropos when viewed in the context of Islamic beheadings.

“What would you think is the biggest accomplishment of the Jews in America?

Even if the only Jewish accomplishment in America was to install one window in a wall, it would have been one window and light years ahead of Islam's accomplishments.

I would have loved for the guy to respond:
"Well, it was through Judaism and Christianity that gave rise to the ideals for the founding of this great land that you and your ilk so proudly, arrogantly, and unabashedly seek to undermine in pursuit of your barbaric, savage Koranic mumblings. Have a nice day."

708 drexpert  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 4:40:41pm

When questioning the Jewish man this "Muslim" obviously has an agenda. He kept trying to get the Jew to admit that Jews not only perpetrated the 9/11 terror attack, but would also say that it is the most important Jewish contribution in America.

It's too bad, the Jewish boy wasn't a bit more informed and aggressive enough to challenge that Islamic asshole.

Jews need to take an aggressive stance when confronted with Muslim propagandists! Do not let Muslims, write the record of Jewish history.

709 Daisy  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 4:59:24pm

Then all of a sudden about four pickup trucks rolled up and some of those good ol' East Texas boys bailed out of those trucks and began to do some very serious ass kicking. There was Iranian teeth, hair, and eyeballs all over the place. They got the shit kicked out of them while the homefolks watched. Then the Sheriff deputies showed up and broke it up.

After that, you very seldom saw any of those Iranians. They stayed in the dorms, and never said another word. Soon they were all gone from Athens.

712 mjwsatx  Thu, Sep 6, 2007 8:11:19pm

Zygazint,

Yes - I am opinionated because I was once just like you. I was born and raised in a secular Jewish home where lox and bagels was our main identification with our people and our heritage. Hebrew school, bar mitzvah then nothing till I went to Israel before college - but then still only a secular connection to - what you called - our traditions. It wasn't until my own son was nearing bar mitzvah age that I came to realize that lox and bagels are not enough to sustain our people and keep our children Jewish. I began to get more involved in my synagogue and to learn more about our religion, our history and our traditions. I learned that they all go hand in hand.

My family and I now go to shul every Shabbat, I learned to read Torah and chant HafTorahs. I visit AISH regularly and read about the Torah portion of the week. My son had his bar mitzvah and continued thru confirmation. He is now involved with USY, and teaches at Sunday school. If he goes to UTSA or another college and is confronted by a jerk like that MSA schmuck - he will not act sheepishly like that poor Jewish schlemiel did.

If you want to really be a part of the Jewish people, if you want to enrich your life and your understanding of what it means to be a Jew - not just a Jewish person but a Jew- and if you want your children to identify themselves as Jews - not just "ethnically" but emotionally and spiritually - then I would strongly advise you to get more involved in your faith. That doesn't mean that you have to undergo some mystical transformation over night. It's a gradual process. You might be surprised by the results. I know I was.

Long ago I might have written the kind of message that you wrote on this blog - that Judaism is really just a tradition - not a religion. No more. I have learned that being a Jew is much more than simply identifying with Tevye, eating latkes, making a seder, and going to shul on Yom Kippur. Being a Jew has become a daily affirmation for me and my life has been made much richer for it.

Zygesundt v'Shabbat shalom,

Mike in San Antonio.
