Video: Kucinich Sucking Up to Syria

Fri, Sep 7, 2007 at 12:47:22 pm PDT

I hope you’ve had your lunch, because otherwise Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich’s disgraceful performance on Syrian television may make you lose it.

Assad and Iran couldn’t buy propaganda like this.

34 kingronjo  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 12:58:44pm

I think most of you have it wrong, if not all of you. Kucinich should be applauded for his forthrightness.

I say that in all seriousness. Every single national Dem agrees with him but dont have the courage to say it. If more Dems spoke their minds instead of saying what 75% of AMericans agree with, we wouldnt have the sneak socialist programs taht always get voted in when they are in charge.

So I say, fete Dennis, praise him let his views be known far and wide!

Wow, it's theme day - Treasonous US Senators. OK, I can ALLMMOSST understand how that other guy (what IS his name?) didn't make the news - he hasn't been a senator for almost 30 years and who cares what he thinks? But this is an honest to God Presidential candidate (although I thought he dropped out?), actually saying that Syria, that paradise for terrorists is 'an important part in bringing about stability in the region'? How on the planet can THIS go unnoticed by the MSM? Or better yet, by the FBI, who should be fitting him for pretty silver bracelets and a new 6X9 condo right about now? 70 Lorenska  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 1:18:12pm

#65 kham: My thoughts exactly, I just wonder how our troops feel when they see this drivel? "I'm over here getting my ass shot at hourly, affording you the freedom to act like an ass at home AND abroad, and giving you the ability to sit down with enemy governments and praise THEM for THEIR efforts at stabilizing the region? How about a little recognition of the efforts of YOUR MILITARY, fighting and dying for you? How many Arabs have died to keep you safe or protect your freedoms?"

God Bless our military, for everything, but their ability to put up with this kind of insult is truly inspiring. I'm assuming he has some kind of protection while he's over there, very possibly provided by members of our own military? It would be very hard for me, in their shoes, not to arrange a little accident for Mr. Dennis. "Sorry, sir, I was SURE that was the parachute that worked - my bad."

72 Sunlight  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 1:23:23pm

A U.N. peacekeeping force in Iraq? Didn't the U.N. leave the first time the "insurgents" chucked a bomb at them? Why does he think they'll go to Iraq with troops now? And wouldn't that just be another "occupation"? Or maybe they'll be like the U.N. in southern Lebanon, observing the arms buildup in their neighborhoods? Or like the EU troops at Rafah watching Hamas arm themselves, then scooting to Israel? I don't get this guy.

73 eon  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 1:26:01pm

There is a certain strata of "enlightened" political types here in Ohio, who are completely out of touch with reality, and are proud of it. Kucinich is just one example.

Unfortunately, my own Republican representative, David Hobson, is another. He accompanied San Fran Nan to kiss Assad Jr.'s ring, if you'll recall.

It is "leaders" like this that have made most Buckeyes so disgusted with both major political parties that "Independent" is now the fastest-growing political affiliation in the state, according to our State Board of Elections.

The Democrats lost me with Howard Metzenbaum in 1972. The GOP may just have lost me with Taft and Hobson in 2006 and 2007.

Now if I could just figure out why Cleveland is so in love with Dennis the Menace.

83 eon  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 1:35:38pm

re: #72 Sunlight

By "U.N. Peacekeeping Force" Denny means Syrian and Iranian troops who will "pacify" Iraq the way he wants it done. Sort of the way Syria has been "pacifying" Lebanon for the last 30 years.

In the end, Iraq will be a Syrian/Iranian-controlled puppet state, and a breeding ground for not just terrorism, but actual military action against the states that Dennis holds responsible for all the ills of the
MidEast and, by extension, the world. Namely, the United States and Israel.

And he'll be right in there pitching, with a cabinet-level "Department of Peace", operating much like the "Friends of the Enemy" in Harlan Ellison's Earth-Kyben War stories. Of course, Dennis doesn't understand the two flaws in Ellison's hypothesis;

1. Appeasing an aggressor never works. It simply rewards his aggression, thus encouraging him to repeat it.

2. Blaming the victim is never a viable alternative. Neither is the victim being punished by his own leadership for imagined wrongs which he never committed.

Not that Dennis would ever believe that either of these axioms is valid.

Anymore than he would believe that Assad Jr. is not a "humanitarian".

cheers

He should be tried for treason, convicted, and shot by a firing squad of Afghanistan and Iraq war vets: Two marines, two soldiers, and two airmen.

Six, just to be sure.

No blanks: That would insult at least one of the military men. Anyone can tell when they've shot a blank versus a real live round.

Besides: Just to be sure.

The pathological evil of some of our political class is simply beyond belief. That they are allowed to get away with it is far, far worse.

95 Lorenska  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 1:45:59pm

#91 Triumphant Palladin: I, too, had to stop the video after less than 2 minutes - I tried to watch it, so that I'd feel more qualified to comment on it intelligently, but I had this feeling after just a few seconds that I already knew all that he was going to say. It was the "Syria is an important partner in bringing stability to the region" comment that caused ME to hit the 'stop' button, and my keyboard may never recover. My irony meter nearly broke, and I just couldn't handle another 8 minutes of idiocy and flat out asskissing. I love the earlier comment about his paperwork getting lost - if he thinks it's so civilized and wonderful over there, let him spend some time, say, 6 months to a year. Oh, and what the heck - let's send him some herion, let him see how their enlightened justice system works.

Most Americans are totally blind to the threat. We, as well as our canadian brothers, see a few snippets on the MSM about OBL and his new beard color and proceed to go about our daily business thinking the government will take care of things. Wrong. We have so many leftards, in both parties, that we will probably get hit again because of their ignorance, complicity and politically correct dhimmitude to the enemy. I'm frankly baffled by all of this. But more and more, I am convinced that we are in the endtimes and the Biblical prophecies are being fulfilled. We have abandoned God and rebelled against his commandments so we are left without a hedge and spiritual protection. Get right or get left.

Rest assured, THERE WILL BE A GRADUAL, INCREMENTAL INCREASE IN CHAOS.

I bet Syria and Iran are licking their respective chops for the implementation of a plan whereby the UN replaces the US coalition in Iraq. They'd just push the UN aside in Iraq the same way that they do in Lebanon.

Here's a great question to ask of your liberal friends:

"When the islamic terrorists come to your house, will they ask you if you're a liberal and then spare your life if you say yes?"

And here's one more:
"Do you really think that your political viewpoints matter to a radical who doesn't hate you because of your politics but because you're not a muslim?"

We are locked in a life and death struggle, and the left is treating it like a roundtable discussion of feelings.

Yea Assad wants to play a major role is bringing about stability in Iraq.
How does he accomplish this?
By flying in jihadists from all over the world, putting them up for a few nites, driving them to the border, and letting them loose to kill as many completely random civilians and US soldiers as possible.
Because you know a guy who was elected with 99% of the vote has a lot to worry about within his own country.

There was a horrible murder in a section of Cleveland last week in which a young girl was shot down in a crossfire between two thugs, one of which still hasn't been caught. The mayor of Cleveland has caught a lot of shit for only reacting to this and not other heinous losses of life because he knew the family; the mayor is a nice guy but totally out of his league as the mayor of a large city. He looks like a homeless person that somebody put a suit on and is almost totally inarticulate.

The murder was also in the area that Kucinich represents and he's gotten a free pass from the media on this as he undermines the country in Syria and pursues his quixotic presidential campaign, which if Dean was sane or not on drugs he'd have excluded the delusional dwarf. Kucinich's district has gone totally in the toilet since he's been in office; it's an economic nightmare and nobody in their right mind would choose to live there. The people who voted him in get what they deserve; I'm not sure if the light will ever go on for them. The local MSM loves Kucinich because he enables their lazy existences by being a walking quote machine, no matter how stupid. There's no doubt in my mind that his rotten family escaped Croatia one step ahead of the lynch mob for ratting out all their neighbors; first to the nazis and then to the commies.

130 Ziggy  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 3:23:00pm

He should be met at the airport and promptly thrown in jail.

If Dennis the Menace had a black beard he could easily have traded talking points with bin Laden.

I believe that it is past time for President Bush to take off the kid gloves and lay the smack down on these slime bags. What they are doing is treason. How dare this little scum bag go to an enemy country and spout pure bs all aimed against his own country. "I love my country" he says. Bull! I could have climbed into my monitor and strangled him with my bare hands when he said "there are many good hearted people in the US".
Too bad he isn't one of them.

I am just so angry right now because I know that nothing will be said against him in the MSM and the lefties will continue to slather him with love. I predict that after (not 'when', regrettably) we get hit again, after the citizenship finally realizes we are at war, those who have made their pilgrimage to Damascus will be seen as the turncoats they truly are.

Yes, I am questioning their patriotism.

They will keep this up as long as there is no downside - as long as voices remain silent or cowed in the face of this utter betrayal, as long as discounts at the mall are more important than the fight for our future freedom.

But when that time comes ... make them pay for the bullets used in their execution; a small price to pay in exchange for the damage they will have done.

They will be lucky if they aren't suspended by the ankles from the nearest utility pole.

Like this:

A squeaky little creep who cannot find a suit small enough to fit properly and sqeaks creepily in a most creep like fashion when he speaks. There really is something just awful creepy about him. In fact, irrespective of his politics. Its not what he says ( which is just fucking nuts ) but he , himself, IT!. Frankly though, where else but on the left do you find such...creeps. Creature like, creeping bug-like creeping out from under a rock scared of the daylight ought be stamped on and sprayed with chemicals type of creepy things.

148 HippieforLife  Fri, Sep 7, 2007 4:55:06pm

Well great. As part of the John Edwards foreign policy he believes that people should learn Arabic so we can "understand" the culture.

The only people who have brought shame upon American are the current elected Democrat officials in Congress. They are ugly, spiteful, angry and dangerous. I heard little Chuckie Schumer's comments that "despite" our soldiers, the people of the area decided to stand up against the bad guys.

I cannot imagine the uproar in our armed forces if the demonrats actually do take the White House. They will not maintain any current policies whether they are good or bad. They think they know better but all they know is hate and vitriol.

#148 HippieforLife:

God, you were reading my mind - I was just listening to Larry Elder, who had that Schumer snippet on, and I almost spewed all over my keyboard. He literally said (I'm paraphrasing, but this is what he said) that 'because the US soldiers weren't protecting the Iraqi people, the local warlords HAD to step in and keep the citizens safe.' He went on to say that 'since there was no one else to do it - the US soldiers couldn't do it - the tribal leaders stepped up and took care of business, and THAT'S why things are getting better.'

His comment that things are improving IN SPITE of the surge rather than because of it was sickening enough, but when he actually said, "our soldiers weren't able to protect the Iraqi citizens, forcing local warlords to do their jobs for them" - THAT is treason, clear and simple, and I cannot believe those comments aren't the headline in every paper in the nation. I've said "that's treason" more times today than I've said in the past year, but really - our Congress is in rare form today, I think that if bin Laden is truly dead, we can look to our own Capitol building to find who made that tape today. Hard to tell the difference anymore.

Local warlords had to do the job that our soldiers couldn't do - how DARE he? Every military person in this nation should show up on his doorstep and demand an apology - or better yet, drop him in the middle of Iran and then say, "sorry, we can't protect you, sir.' Waste of space SOB.

Kucinich also has had kind words to say about Iran, being sure that nobody in Iran would want to wipe Israel off the map, and that surely those who said such things must have been mistranslated or misunderstood.

Kucinich is to the Democrat presidential aspirants, coming from the appeasement left, what Ron Paul is to the Republican presidential aspirants, coming from the isolationist head-in-the-sand right.
