-RetweetKos Kidz Ranting About David Brooks

Sun, Sep 9, 2007 at 9:58:41 am PDT

One of the few semi-sane people at the New York Times, David Brooks says Bin Laden Sounds Like a Lefty Blogger.

And of course, this simple, obvious observation about bin Laden’s video (with its references to weird conspiracies, JFK, Marxism, and Noam Chomsky, like just about any lefty blog) has provoked seething from the Kos Kidz: Daily Kos: in defense of NOT firing David Brooks.

The very worst thing we can do is whine about David Brooks or any other pundit-turned-panderer comparing bin Laden to left blogs or progressive philosophy.

What are we thinking anyway? I’ll tell you what it’s time for: for us to grow up. To stop thinking we can manage ideas by shutting them up. It’s been tried on us. . .

What we should do? Engage Brooks and show up his a**holery for what it is: a desperate attempt to save his reputation by making look wrong or dangerous those who actually had the right call on the war.

We need to stop complaining about what they say about us. Stand-the-f*ck-up and talk back and expose the lies and self-serving nature of their commentary.

It is not time to shut David Brooks down. It is time for us to STAND UP and PUSH-THE-F*CK back.

I say we take them on... and show how their policies have made bin Laden a hero and a big business. And maybe challenge them on why we haven’t gotten bin Laden... because a dead bin Laden is bad for Halliburton’s business.

Come on David.... you wanna talk dirty... i’ll go toe-to-toe with you.

It’s time. To. Push.The.F*ck.Back.

The new mainstream voice of the Democratic Party.

Gay-baiting-red-tie homonym!

FYI for all those interested:

In linguistics, a homonym is one of a group of words that share the same spelling or pronunciation (or both) but have different meanings. The state of being a homonym is called homonymy. Examples of homonyms are stalk (which can mean either part of a plant or to follow someone around) and the trio of words to, too and two (actually, to, to, too, too and two, being "for the purpose of" as in "to make it easier", the opposite of "from", also, excessively, and "2", respectively). Some sources state that homonym meanings must be unrelated in origin (rather than just different). Thus right (correct) and right (opposed to left) would be polysemous (see below) and not be homonyms.

26 legalpad  Sun, Sep 9, 2007 10:11:22am
To stop thinking we can manage ideas by shutting them up. It’s been tried on us. .

2. It's been tried on you? When have you ever been deprived of free speech or access to public media? What a crock!

The reason they are so outraged is that they know Brooks is right.

There are leftists with a dim ember of human moral conscience deep inside. They instinctively bristle at the thought that their ideology is appealing to one of the world's worst mass-murderers.

Then there are the leftists who actually think bin Laden isn't so bad--certainly nowhere near as bad as Halliburton. Those people are Satanically evil, and Americans need to stay heavily armed as long as they exist.

Happiness is watching liberals blow their tops when people refer back to things they've said in the past, which they call 'smearing' or 'dirty tricks'. However, seeing the USA's #1 enemy who murdered 3000 people in one day parrot their rhetoric is the sweetest thing ever.

I heard one guy call in to John Gibson replying to this by saying "Would you call us traitors if Osama said not to drink paint?" (i.e., Osama was merely pointing out obvious truths). Gibson: "So you agree with Bin Laden! You're on his side!" Lefty caller: "Just because I agree with him doesn't mean I'm on his side!" Gibson: "Actually, yes it does."

FWIW I have serious doubts about the video showing a real living breathing Bin Laden to start with. Have you ever seen talk without moving his hands?

Not to argue, but to dispel mis-information making the rounds of the internet:
1. He does move his hands and fingers during the tape.
2. The outfit he's wearing is the same style as the outfit in previous vids, the trim is different if you look closer, and the shade's different so different outfit.

A lot of people on the left want to make like it's not real; but it is from what I've seen, and reading the analysis.

I agree he did move his fingers and hands, although very small movements. In all the other videos I have seen of him he using his hands very animated and always with a finger extended as if lecturing a misbehaving dog. In this one it looks more like he is using the table to hold on to and is very rigid.

What, precisely, does one say when someone who's been having a temper tantrum for the last six years says "it's time to get rowdy!"

I guess they had a choice of rejecting OBL's overture or attack those who point it out, they chose the latter.

100 bulbasaur  Sun, Sep 9, 2007 10:42:47am

This reminds me of Bill Clinton's reply when Dick Morris produced a poll showing that the majority of Americans would turn on Clinton if it were proved true that he had sex with his intern in the oval office.

When Clinton was confronted with the reality of the poll, he is said to have replied "WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WIN." Which means, "we're busted, so we will attack our enemies."

The Clinton team knowingly proceeded to plant stories in the media about Monica being a "stalker."

These bastards have no shame. None.

Question: How do you make a lefty seethe?
Answer: Tell him the truth about his failed ideology.

Man, nothing makes those folks go nuts like a little truth told. Their entire ideological house of cards is built on NEVER, EVER speaking the truth about most of the things they believe in. Whenever a little truth gets through — in this case, that they and Osama Bin Laden want the same things for America — they just go berserk. It's funny as hell to watch. They're all stampin' their feet and throwin' their pacifiers on the floor. Waaa.

I think the liberal blogs know deep down that OBL does sound like them. And they're even just a tad embarrassed about it, although they will never admit it. However, cognitive dissonance makes them think the newer bin Laden tapes are all a Rove! and Cheney! conspiracy.

But I really think that deep down, they are a just a tad bit ashamed that OBL, a mass murdering terrorist psychopath echos their talking points word for word. And they have to destroy anyone who would point out this obvious fact.

The similarities between OBL's plans and those of our left need deep and considered contemplation, so I have gathered together all of the Great Minds In My House for this enormous undertaking. My think tank consists of me, my cat, and a potted plant (a cycas revoluta, if you must know).

OBL wants to cripple and subjugate America and the West.
OBL releases a tape of his solutions for his America problem
OBL's solutions are exactly the same as yours

Hmmm... think... think... think... what does it mean? I think we have come to an answer.

It means you (the left) want to see America crippled! You want to subjugate the American people just like bin Laden does!

My cat figured this out first, and I gotta tell ya... its a good thing she's pretty, 'cause she sure ain't smart. She gets stepped on many times per day, but she continues to run under my feet every time I move. In fact, I'm pretty sure the plant outwits her routinely. The very worst thing we can do is whine . . .

. . .about David Brooks or any other pundit-turned-panderer . . .

(what do we call Kos for making his John Edwards(?) political ad?)

. . .comparing bin Laden to left blogs or progressive philosophy.

If the Hsu fits . . .

What are we thinking anyway? I'll tell you what it's time for: for us to grow up. . . .

(and perhaps act like adults instead of snotty 12-year olds. Get some education, in rhetoric and logic, history, etc.)

(Don't waste your money on "progressive" stuff (Maya Angelou will pass, just like Timothy Leary), read Plato, Socrates, Marcus Aurelius . . . )

. . . To stop thinking we can manage ideas by shutting them up. It's been tried on us. . our M.O. for decades. . .

What we should do? Engage Brooks and show up his assholery for what it is: a desperate attempt to save his reputation by making look wrong or dangerous those who actually had the right call on the war.

With apologies to Superman (Marvel vs. DC, After Hours #2), “you dooo look wrong or and dangerous . . . ” and OBL’s latest video proooves it.

We need to stop complaining about what they say about us. Stand-the-fuck-up and talk back and expose the lies and self-serving nature of their commentary.

It is not time to shut David Brooks down. It is time for us to STAND UP and PUSH-THE-FUCK back.

I say we take them on... and show how their policies have made bin Laden a hero and a big business. . . .

(and when will the Left announce OBL T-shirts, to match the Che T-shirts?)

. . . And maybe challenge them on why we haven't gotten bin Laden...

("We"? Perhaps subversives among us, who were and are opposed to war and invading Afghanistan, and using enough troops, etc., are responsible)

. . . because a dead bin Laden is bad for Halliburton's business.

A dead bin Laden, put on display, is bad for jihadis that want to detonate bombs on busses and school gyms, fly airplanes into buildings, kidnap women, etc.

Come on David... you wanna talk dirty... i'll go toe-to-toe with you.

Bin Laden: Hero of the Left

Read his latest message to the world, in which he appeals to the Left’s same neuroses, myths, prophets and demons - and to the same yearning for a totalitarian escape from the terrors of freedom.

Go through the list.

The capitalist system seeks to turn the entire world into a fiefdom of the major corporations...

All of mankind is in danger because of the global warming resulting in a large degree from the emissions of the factories of the major corporations...

No to spilling red blood for black oil...

It has now become clear to you and the entire world the impotence of the democratic system and how it plays with the interests of the peoples and their blood by sacrificing soldiers and populations to achieve the interests of the major corporations...

Among the most capable of those from your own side who speak to you on this topic (or war in Iraq) and on the manufacturing of public opinion is Noam Chomsky...

You should liberate yourself from the deception, shackles and attraction of the capitalist system...

I invite you to embrace Islam.

Kos Kidz grow up? It's theoretically possible...but I won't hold my breath while I wait.

The problem here is that the entire leftist mindset is emotionally based. There's no logic or evidence behind it, merely a great deal of hatred for those who disagree, and a fervent wish that the laws of the universe should be other than they are.

It's been attributed to many wags that "you cannot reason a man out of something he didn't reason himself into," but it's nonetheless true. That's why arguing with leftists is pointless -- and why expecting them to mature in response to counter-evidence and argument is next to hopeless.

I don't worry. They've become ever wilder and more venomous as time has passed. Fewer and fewer decent persons are willing to treat with them. At some point, they'll marginalize themselves sufficiently that we need no longer concern ourselves with them.

172 Tosprops  Sun, Sep 9, 2007 1:45:21pm

Just because OBL hates Bush, opposes the war in Iraq, loves Chomsky, wants to subjugate Christians and Jews, is concerned about Global Warming, is really upset with the Democratic leadership of the House and Senate because they have not kept their promise to stop funding the war, and because he hates major corporations like Halliburton doesn't mean that he is a netroot progressive does it?

I gotta go. There is something in my backyard. It walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck. I am just not sure what it is.

No, I don't think that Osama and Kos have much in common other than their goal to see America fail. Osama is acting like a politician, courting his base with what they want to hear. He's playing them for the fools they are.

This is a good point. You have to give the kossacks this much--Osama probably doesn't agree with them about all that much (they just both hold America, Israel, Jews, and Christianity in the same esteem).
The real insult here is that Osama thinks that he can convert the leftists to his cause by using their talking points.
If Osama talked about the tragedy of elective abortion, or the foolishness of excessive taxation, or other conservative ideas, and used that to try to convince conservatives to abandon America and embrace Islam and Sharia, I wouldn't disagree with his criticism, I would be deeply contempuous of him thinking that that would ever, EVER cause me to feel the slightest sympathy, let alone support for the murdering Islamic fundamentalist.

The sad thing is that most liberals don't even see this. They think that their positions are so self-evident that anyone even slightly less evil than Bush would of course hold them. (and I suspect that that is a position in which most would place Osama, along with the lesser known Islamic terrorists)

The sadder truth is that Osama needn't bother appealing to liberals other issues, since they would gladly sell out Iraq and the rest of the world to regain political power in America, such is their hatred and paranoia.

Sorry, I mean their HATRED. and. PARANOIA.

Others have alluded to it, but more succinctly, it is supremely ironic that the KOStard (can't bring myself to call him a pundit or poster) starts off with, "The very worst thing we can do is whine about David Brooks ..." and then proceeds to do exactly that.

It must really hurt knowing that the philosophy (OK, maybe that's a bit pretentious for a social approach that advocates taking from the fruits of the labors of one person at the point of a gun to give to another person who is not equivalently motivated to succeed) that one espouses is exactly the same at that of the avowed enemy of your country. From their viewpoint though, this is not because it's true, but because it makes them look bad.

Fuckity-fuck-fuck-fuckity-fuck.

It’s time. To. Push.The.F*ck.Back.

This whole "periods-after-every-word-for-effect" thing is so fuckity fucking dumb. Firstly, it's OVERUSED. Second, I believe it's more correct to use ellipses anyway, fuckheads.

177 j-damn  Sun, Sep 9, 2007 2:53:46pm

P.S.

These impotent fuckity-fucks have been threatening to get all hardcore in your face strong-bad and pushy since like, 2002. Shit or get off the fuckityfucking pot.

The left has been angry, bullying and pushing the f***k back ever since the 1960's. That's how they got as far as they did, by mocking, shutting-up and browbeating the opposition, till it gave in.

Now, with the internet, they find they actually have to prove their assertions by argument and logical debate, and they're just not up to the task. Furthermore, they can't use the old scream racist/uptight/bigot-bigot-stupid-ugly! tactic on us anymore; oh, they use it, but a lot of us are screaming back now, and we don't just curl up like salted snails and die when called "racist" or "Islamophobe."

This bozo can talk dirty all he likes. It's what the Left's been doing since 1968, and it doesn't prove a thing.

179 stanlef  Sun, Sep 9, 2007 3:19:29pm

Why do you think angry leftists always seem to look like they are constipated? Answer--they are following their religious teachings.

Bin Laden, probably is a lefty blogger. He mostly likely has an account and puppets at KoS.

183 StinkHammer  Sun, Sep 9, 2007 6:37:35pm

Not being a Lefty myself, I'm scratching my head at what it was Brooks said that was apparently so untrue as to cause the huff. Besides, David Horowitz has already done a yeoman's job of documenting the Islamo-Leftist convergence. Their goals coincide quite readily.

re: #37 Oh no...Sand People!

Garden gnomes. Somebody needs to make Osama Bin Laden garden gnomes.

He would look so natural squatting in the rock garden, or peeping out from behind a rhododendron.

Yeah, it would be funny until he starts blowing up the infidel gnomes.
