Indeed, no surprise. Due to Israeli immigration policy there are people here who hate jews. I personally have talked to several such "repatriants". This must be handled with hard measures and stopped. Fast.
Israel really has to change their immigration laws to allow only the children of a Jewish mother to make Aliyah, unless the person has had an Halachic conversion.
These Russians are biting the hand that feeds them. Israel has enough to contend with.
I sort of suspected that's how this happened. Which is a real shame.
Perhaps they should be dropped off in the middle of Jenin. I hear tell that Palestinians are rather enamoured of Hitler's philosophies too. Of course sine they're "Jews" by the definition of their citizenship, so they'd be screwed.
The spanking new Finnish Muslim Party. Take a look at the pic, what a bunch of losers. Why does anyone in society feel that Western Civilization or any civilization must bend to these misogynistic monkeys.

The problem here is that our own government isn't convinced that we're entitled to this country and most of them are definitely not convinced there's any positive reason to be Jews. Every time Jews try to be like the rest of the world, the rest of the world gets up and smacks us in the face and tells us that we're not.
The government is 'educating' its children that the creation of the Jewish state was a catastrophe, that our right to the Land of Israel is dependent upon UN resolutions, that the most important thing we can do is to create a 'Palestinian' statereichlet, and that Zionism with all its Jewish content removed is viable to hold us together in the future.
That's the education a bunch of kids who weren't really Jewish to start with got here in Israel. They learned enough Hebrew to read the daily newspapers and see how the political left maligns anyone here who strongly identifies as a Jew.
And here, in a small village on LI Sound, 45 minutes from NYC? We are overrun with illegals, but it is just not comparable to what Israel's enemies that Israel allowed to emigrate, are doing. And they came legally.
"Jewish according to Hitler." Funny how this is supposed to trump "Jewish according to the Torah" giving Hitler the final word. The last time somebody argued to me that this or that gentile celebrity is "Jewish according to Hitler" I said to him "Hitler may be your rabbi, but he is not my rabbi." That shut the shmuck up.
Since the "Jewish grandparent" they claimed in order to get free stuff from the Jewish Agency, probably never existed, they are most likely "Aryan according to Hitler."
If you were to read the books "They Must Go!" or "Reform or Referendum" you would have found out that Neo-Nazi groups, attacks on synagogues, Anti-Semetic attacks on Jews, swastikas, and other Nazi era activities have been occuring in Israel for over 20+ years and are not uncommon.
Like many other things, this is a test for the Jewishness of Israel. From Olmert's comments etc., it seems that it is another test that Israel is going to fail.
Unlike Carl, I do not blame this on the Agency for Israel but instead the State itself and the Government. This is a test of the "leaders" of Israel. At first the tests were clouded and difficult to see (land, religion, formation of Goverment, etc.) then they got a bit easier (response to Terrorism, response to Genocidal intent, etc.).
Now the test is blatently clear. The Jewish state built on the ashes of the Holocaust to be a refuge for Jews escaping Anti-Semetism is being asked to deal with neo-Nazis within their own ranks. The answer to this should be clear and simple. (But of course because the Erev Rav are running the joint they are confused)
Neo-Nazis in Israel shouldn't really be a surprise (as Carl pointed out) when you look at the overal sentiment of Israelis and their education system. They teach self-hatred, Anti-Zionism, weakness, embarrassement of being Jewish, hurtful leftism, and Non-Jewish Internationalism. Its is always everyone elses needs over their own. Jewish values are seen as archaic or less than the Christian "western" values. They teach a desire to be European over Jewish, "Western" over the people of Israel.
The founders of Israel would have known very clearly what to do with Israeli Neo-Nazis. But now the "leadership" is lost. It is not only a reality for Israel, it is a sign. This is where the "leadership" of Israel is today.

Well, that's okay. We have a similar problem with educators in the US, who teach that America stole all the land it has, engages in imperial warfare at the drop of a hat, and executes friendly visiting aliens from other worlds.
Don't even think I'm kidding, though admittedly the last one is on the rare side.
Educators are some of the most important people who come into contact with children, and we choose ours like throwing darts in the dark... only we make sure qualified people are out of the room at the time.
Also, this Neo-Nazi story will, 100% guaranteed, be folded into the far-left / Palestinian / Troofer anti-Israel narrative. Just watch and cringe.

This is all new to me. Where have I been? I am astounded.

This astounds me. I had no idea.
Good gracious! The free world doesn't seem to have the backbone to stand up for the values that make us great! Something must be in the water.

G-d save us.
If you think I'm blaming the Jewish Agency, you haven't read the last three paragraphs of the post. The Jewish Agency was representing the government.
This gang was operating in my hometown and my son and his friends tangled with them on more than one occasion. The gang would be lying in wait for them on Friday nights when they gathered in the square near the synagogue. Eventually the boys told the cook in their school - a great big Russian bear himself. He came with them the following Friday night and after a few loud threats and a "flick" or two, the gang scarpered and never bothered the boys again. But they desecrated the town's central synagogue plus the other stuff in the article.
I'm not surprised either. I recall seeing (many, many years ago) a documentary on "refugees." It was aired on the CBC. It detailed the problems with "migrants." One such illustration featured a Russian woman who got to Israel. (She was simply "using the system" -- to get out of Russian.) Upon entry to Israel -- she immediately exclaimed: "I'm not Jewish!" followed by a long harangue...(and "I'm a Christian!" along with other unrepeatable statements about "Jews.") Anyway, Israel does have a problem. I would hope that the law changes -- enabling these sorts to be deported back to country of origin (Israeli citizenship forfeited, etc.)
Yea its pretty sad actually. Israel is NOT lost...but they have some work to do.
(that being said, the Book predicted all of this thousands of years ago)
It just baffles me that after all the Jewish people have been through, the ONE thing they would hold on to would be their national and spiritual identity. Why in the world would they wish to apologize for their Jewishness? God Himself treasures it! It is a prize to hang onto.

You (and others who posted similar ideas) are right. But - and this is a big but - any time the proposition has been cautiously raised by the Israeli government to change the Law of Return to allow only for Jews born of a Jewish mother or converts, a huge racket emanates from the Diaspora from people who are offended at the idea because they are intermarried, their spouses and/or children are not Jewish according to Halacha, etc.
So while it's all very well to blame the Israeli government and/or the Jewish Agency (and they are indeed to blame), the Diaspora leaders themselves have to take their fair share of the blame.
This is something that is going to have to be worked out between Israel and the Diaspora if we are to avoid a huge schism in the Jewish people.
Fair enough. As usual, I was actually agreeing with you, but only making a slight difference toward the Jewish Agency.
You are right...it is the Governments problem.
A Jew or even a psudo Jew wouldn't want to immitate Hitler if he were raised with pride, honor, self-love, and appreciation of Judaism that Israel should provide.
Even if the immigrant is not halachacly Jewish, if taught what a real Jew was, while living in "The Jewish State" he/she would not be bashing Jews but instead living proudly as one.
To quote a very wise man that understood this a long time ago:
"But the Jew is not a cripple. G-d made him with two legs, and the authentic healthy Jew walks on both of them."
This is something that is going to have to be worked out between Israel and the Diaspora if we are to avoid a huge schism in the Jewish people.
Annie
I agree, but it seems that the schism is already here, due to the attitude of the reconstructionist and reform movement. Sadly, it seems like the Conservative movement is getting closer to surrendering to accepting those who are not Jews...rather than standing tall.
So 8 immigrants who had trouble finding a girlfriend decided to make a nerd neonazi club. And got caught.
WHy is everyone blaming the russians, clearly these particular individuals are mentally ill, at least a lot more so than anything else.
It is DEFINITELY NOT a widepsread problem among the russian community in israel (jewish or otherwise).
THeres a great deal of over reaction.
Besides in overall terms, these 8 neonazis contribute less too crime than many tribesmen from northern africa (dirty morrocans)
The press will have a field day with this, while continuing its 80-year streak of completely ignoring the virulent antisemitism of the Arab and Muslim world.
BTw, no one cares about the jewishlaw. Genetically you are just as jewish if only your father is jewish, as if only your mom is jewish. The reason fo the mother-sde bias is probably due to ancient hebrews not entirely trusting the most promiscuous baby mamas of their community.
Personally I am 100 percent ethnically jew, but I have many half russian half jew firnds (on the wrong side) who are quite zionist and would defiitely fit in any ZOA meeting politically.
"Just to clear up some inaccuracies that have appeared in the media: All but one of them are not Jewish under Jewish law. They are all Russian immigrants who were brought to Israel under the Law of Return, which ironically adopts Hitler's definition of a Jew - anyone who had a Jewish grandparent..."
Most European countries consider someone a national if they had one grandparent that was of their nationality.
Hence if you had one Irish, Greek, French, Russian, Polish, German, Danish, Italian, etc. grandparent you too will considered eligible for
Irish, Greek, French, Russian, Polish, German. Danish, Italian citizenship.
On the other hand, Carl is right that these "neo Nazi" wannabes are not Jewish.
Yea, why dont you appeal it to the israel immigration control.
Russian Jews and halfbreeds essentially jacked up the israeli high-tech economy on 1990-present. Besides 100 percent russian non-jew is jsut so much better than an israeli arab in terms of everything :-)
This is something that is going to have to be worked out between Israel and the Diaspora if we are to avoid a huge schism in the Jewish people.
Annie

Yes, I agree with you about the burgeoning schism and I've also seen that article, which makes painful reading. And yet you have items like this: 150 American youngsters join IDF too.
1. At least russian mafia takes showers, and eats with forks and knives. Same can be said for north africna and middle eastern arabs jew wannabes.
2. AS far as the SECULAR (thank god) israeli state is concerned a difference between a full jew like myslef, and a halfbreed, is the length of the nose. ANd thats about it.
Carl - Israelis are very self-critical. I see this whole thing in a different light. I lived in Germany for 3 years in the 70's, e.g., during the Munich Olympics. I knew young German people (ballerinas!) who talked badly of Jews, thinking I couldn't understand them. So when I met "the Jewish community" in the U.S. later and they spoke so fondly of Germans' having cured their antisemitism, I was astounded. Having decimated the Jewish community in Europe, even now polls are showing that Europeans think Jewish people have too much power. It is completely bizarre. Even a few competent Jews are too much for them.
Likewise, Russia/USSR has not had a good track record with their Jewish residents. When Mr. Sharansky finally succeeded in his quest to get the Jews out, Israel (bless your hearts!) let in all who wanted to come. That is a huge number of people who may or may not have been halachically Jewish and, irregardless, were not raised in a typical Jewish situation (whatever that is!). So they were raised secularly in a society with major contempt for Jews (pogroms, etc.).
So two points: It is a miracle that Israel has absorbed and thrived with the FSU immigrants. We met such a family last year in Israel... the parents had immigrated as children with their parents from Russia (or Ukraine) and were now raising their own children. They said they love living in Israel. So really, it is amazing that there aren't more cases of the neo-nazi activities, not because of the Israeli govt, but because of the background of the one-third of the population that is from the FSU. It will fade with generations, especially if you guys can address it in a positive way (not so much blame and condemnation, but workshops and teambuilding). Take positive credit for how well you've done with this.
Second, although there are Germans who have let go of their anti-Jewish sickness, I would always consider that it may be underlying their actions. I sometimes think that when I hear about Germans or Russians helping Israel's enemies gain the capabilities to harm Israel.
FYI The vast majority of Russian Immigrants in Israel are Zionist and assimilating rapidly. The second generation, children of "Soviet" immigrants, those who were of dubious or weak jewish background are mostly patriotic and many have offically converted to judaism, married jews etc. Some practice christianity, which of course is their right in a free deocracy, but are still zionists and patriotic. The thugs in this case are the extreme exception.

There's an interesting article at [Link: www.en.wikipedia.org...] under the search term "jus sanguinis". It's the determination of citizenship through "blood" as opposed through "soil". It's been a problem with Europe.
Most countries (such as Israel) adopt a mixed program (partially based on kinship, partially based on place of birth). The problems occur when a strict adherence to, say, "jus sanguinis" is applied -- this was the case with Germany up until January 1, 2000. In other words, in Germany (that's prior to 2001), it did not matter if you were born in Germany -- you weren't considered a German citizen -- you could only be a citizen if a parent had German citizenship (and I believe it was the father -- mother's citizenship didn't matter). What the Germans began to recognize is that this sort of law disenfranchises other ethnic groups living in the country. So there was a large and growing segment of the population (namely, Turks) who (even those born in Germany) couldn't vote, couldn't do any number of things allowed to German citizens. Anyway, it did lead to changes in the citizenship laws.
I think Canada's citizenship laws also require a revision. It's far too easy to obtain citizenship and live abroad with zero ties to Canada. (You can become a citizen of Canada solely for reasons of "convenience.")
Re both the IDF and the increase in Aliyah? Fantastic! Thanks. IIRC, Nefesh B'Nefesh had a lot of flights...breathtaking. There were a lot of photos and this video..there are photos on the site.
Regarding immigration laws, Israel can't afford to be too selective or the Jews will be outbred by the Arabs. Then, they can just vote Israel out of existence.
It'll probably happen anyway if Jews don't start seriously "getting it on"!
Regarding the Russians - Neo-Nazism is endemic in Russia. At the moment, their ire is directed at Muslims (who they hate with the passion that the Germans hated Jews). I would hazard a guess that Russian Nazis have little, if anything against the Jews (yet...), which could explain why these kids didn't feel alienated by it.
LOl, its because when russian neonazis in moscow try to shout slogans at a synagogue, riot police arroves and breaks their fingers. WHen they do it against muslims, riot police arrives and helps them.
I would hazard a guess that Russian Nazis have little, if anything against the Jews (yet...), which could explain why these kids didn't feel alienated by it.
I don't think you've been reading what the Russian Nazis think of Jews...or have done to Jews. There are increasing numbers of attacks, etc.
With all due respect to Carl in Jerusalem---like you I may be pissed off at the current Olmert stuardship and ongoing inconsistant criteria for the definition of a Jew and interpretation by the Jewish Agency for aliya allowing inmigration of a few Ruski neonazis --but these issues pale compared to the ongoing inclination for Israelis in general to support Left wing Governments adept at pandering --the most relevent long term obstacle in confrontating the unmistakable Arab goal of degrading and expunging our Jewish Homeland no matter how long it takes---in general Aliya has been a fantastic success and the massive Russian presence in Israel has improved the education system health care and cultural tone of Israel and the number of Russian Imigrants in combat roles in the IDF speaks volumes about their outstanding comittment made to preserve Eretz Yisrael despite the fact that historically little Jewish culture or religion was practiced by their parents or grandparents under Communism no matter what your definition of being Kosher.
"I intend to explore whether there is a legal possibility to revoke their citizenships and deport them from the country. If there is such an option, I will not hesitate to use it," Sheetrit told Israel Radio.
"historically little Jewish culture or religion was practiced by their parents or grandparents under Communism no matter what your definition of being Kosher."
You must not know any russian jews. WE are probably the greediest, cheaper jews out of any other group. And we outdrink every other jewish group int erms of christian blood mixed with vodka. WE call it Bloody Moshe.
:-)
As for russians in the IDF, talk to anyone who served in the GIvati brigade in gaza. If he or she is not russian he was probably busy protecting palestinians from his russian comrades.
In all seriousness, Russian Jews like me who eat ham and philly cheesesteaks on passover are are not circumcised are among the proudest, most zionist jews I have seen to date.

That was my impression last year. Also, Israel won the lottery getting all the Russian scientists that moved. I heard it has taken a while to get the research funding organized, but that their contribution is showing.
Another group that has been attacked by the Nazi's very badly are the Russians. Neo Nazi groups are more powerful there than in Germany or anywhere else in the world.
This communist loves the video. He posted it on his website including a play by play action. He's in California! He's works in the Journalism Industry. Strong Warning: Russian Nazi Execution video
Socialism and Communism have allot more in common together than the basis and principles if the United States Constitution. It stand in their way of gaining power.
These little spoiled scumbags actually ARE Jewish themselves (or atleast had some Jewish parent or grandparent), as is noted in the article, so they are sort of in the same category with Uncle Chom and Swinekelstein.
For #77,
I was born and raised in Russia by atheists who ate pork and never went to a sinagogue. My connection to Judaism is through the spirit of my ancestors, their stories, strength, and the ability to survive in the most horrendous circumstances. On my recent trip to Israel with Birthright, I have seen many Jews who went to Yeshiva, been bar/bat mitzvaed, and who obersve the Kashrut act like complete ignorant a***s who weren't a bit interested in history and culture of Israel, who found it boring going to the senate, who were doubtful of the story of Massada, and some who were rooting for the other side.
What do you say about that?
some of you may remember aleksandr from the bronx. well, aleksandr ukrainsky just admitted, in the lounge, that he is that same banned poster. and, of course, it's starting in on the same activities that got it banned in the first place.
Sorry, I didn't get to talk to you last Friday afternoon. It would be enjoyable to talk to you across the table one day since I have the utmost respect for your wit and wisdom from what I've read. I'll buy.
I don't know Buzz what to think anymore of the Jewish situation. I do have a personal question for you. Would I be very far off base if I were to believe being a Jew goes back to what was said at the foot of Mt. Sinai and what followed from God to Moses before crossing the Jordan?
I've got to go plant some grass so I'll back later. Hopefully, you will see this.
# 83---"Buzz"---apparently for you the "Jewish Soul" is eternal and survivable even without a geographic Israel and that "Kushrat Circumcised and Observant" is sacrosanct to ligitimacy of the title Jew--so not every Jew agrees with you--so what's new?
quite frankly its people like you, who question the jewishness of jews who are actually in the 21st century, that divides jewish people the most. If theres one reason why I probably WONT marry an american jewish girl, its because I dont wanna have to argue with her ignorant parents about eating pork.
There can be no Judaism without the State of Israel because if it is destroyed, that means that the Jews lost and our Gd has not helped us whatsoever. Hence, it is a duty of all Jews to protect their land.
As far as being jewish goes, unless you cite the torah (which specifically states that I remain a jew as long as I dont ACTIVELY WORSHIP OTHER GODS) and you tell em i am not jewish you are out of line
I think there has to be a balancing act. In sociology (profs claim) the strongest bonds are between pairs. Dyads. (male, female; husband/wife). Throw in a number 3, you get potential problems...that's a triad...(a child). With 3, then you have potential pairings -- father pairs with child against the mother; the mother pairs with child against the father; mother and father pair against the child; etc.) But extreme unity and strength comes from recognizing the competing interests, while becoming a unit -- a family. (one gets lots of dyads in Israel -- it's the secularists vs the religious; it's the immigrant vs the native-born; it's the ultra leftist vs the ultra-rightist; etc., etc. -- yet, through all of this there is also a shared identity...as with a family.
Better than 99.9% of what comes out of Hollywood and NYC! And after that thread, I badly needed a laugh! Pat to the rescue!
I hope you repost it for anyone who missed it on the open thread. This is not a humor thread. After so many things happening in and to Israel? This they needed like the plague...or a visit from Chumpsky and his gang of self-hating Jews.
Or a visit from Jimmah Carter, the Jew hater extraordinaire.
To me, Judaism is being one born under the covenant God made with Abraham, and into the laws and the land He provided for their benefit.
I cannot conceive of a Judaism apart from God. What would it be? Where did it come from?
That would be like me saying I have female parts, but I am not a woman. It doesn't make sense for me. But then, I am not a Jew, so I'm at a disadvantage in this conversation.
The problem here is that our own government isn't convinced that we're entitled to this country and most of them are definitely not convinced there's any positive reason to be Jews. Every time Jews try to be like the rest of the world, the rest of the world gets up and smacks us in the face and tells us that we're not.
Which hopefully tells the Jews that they are not to be like the rest of the world just like the New Testament tells Christians to not be like the rest of the world but to be salt and light.
As long as the Jews continue to fight the good fight, they will be okay. I would tell you to take the from Natalie but I get it from a much higher authority.
I'm somewhat aghast at I've read on this thread today, and I've looked over all the posts a number of times. Regarding these jerks joining a neoNazi gang, well, I can say it's assinine, but given the degenerartion of society throughout the West, I;m not surprised. How different is it really, not to try to defend it, from some other group joining a gang. Before you jump down my throat, please consider Hoffer's "True Believer" and Durkheim's concept of anomie. What I've found really frightening is tis concept that a Nuremberg type court should be set up to determine who is a "real" Jew. This is frightening.
I'm a mischling, a Jew as defined by the Nuremberg Law. I've been shit on by both Jews and Christians. Yet my father, who was denied his Jewishness by his family, and the local rabbis, loved Israel, contributed to their defense, planted trees, etc..
He did what he could.
Now I'm being told that due to this "accident" of birth, his belief in Israel , his essence,is to be questioned. Worse than this is the suggestion by some in these posts, that a "judge" be set up to determine who is and who isn't allowed into eretz Israel. What is worse is the choice of some of my fellow lizards.
Even thinking of putting someone like Ploome in charge of deciding who is appropriate is reprehensible. Hell, many rabbis in Israel can't accept reform or conservative Jews, not to mention marriages, conversions, etc., never mind others. Ploome would have been a great employee for Stalin, Beria, Hitler or Himmler as long as she was convinced that she was doing "right". She would send "non-Jews" to the ovens as fast as the nazis did. She is a venous, evil person and yet some would put her up a a judge (quite a step down from the OT), capable of reading people's minds and hearts. She is a totalitarian and anyone who buys into her philosophy is, for lack of a better word, a fascist, one who would, given her "higher" knowledge, be able to steer us cattle into the "proper" channels.
Israel must accept that there will be "non observant" Jews. They are Jews, nonetheless. Israel needs everyone, not just the "religious" (remember the NT's Good Samaritian).
Yes, there is a belief that we cannot know the inner, hidden things --
There are three connections ('kishrin") that are bound to each other: G-d, the Torah, and Israel --each consisting of a level upon a level, hidden and revealed. There is the hidden aspect of G-d, and the revealed aspect; Torah, too, has both a hidden and a revealed aspect; and so it is with Israel, who also has both a hidden and a revealed aspect.
It is a mistake to presume to know too much. ..just as to discount/denounce/condemn the contributions made to Israel by self-proclaimed, "ham-eating-on-Passover", secularist Russians...
I've been going to the neighborhood Chabad-- I really like their style, low-key, open, welcoming. The rebitzen especially has great women's programs, and women are encouraged to go to the rabbi's shiurim.
Can't wait for my upcoming baby to be old enough for their summer programming!
The reality is that the russian immigrants to ISrael were comprised of two major subsegments. People who were Jewish by biological Jewish law, yet ignorant/non practicing from the cultural Jewsih perpective. Indeed, most were uncircumcised, knew no Jewish traditions, and in fact were culturally indistinguishable from other russians, with the exception of anti-semitism, which is endemic among Russians.
The second core group were non Jewish by Jewish law, some barely Jewish by Hitler's looser criteria, and a very significant fraction, (perhaps as much as 50%), entirely unrelated to Jews and Judaism, indistinguishable form other russians, who claimed Jewish ancestry to escape the Soviet Union. Pure economic migrants, taking advantage of the Israelis' concern for their 'Jewish Brothers'. Indeed, anti-semitism exists among this group, as it does quite close to the surface among most russians, and it is from this segment that these neo-nazi scum arise.
Both groups were economically motivated, and many jumped off the train before reaching Israel to get to other western countries, and tens of thousands left Israel shortly after arrival.
The former group, who had an inkling of their Jewish origins, have undergone 'trial by fire', theri children serving and sacrificing in the IDF, and scientists, engineers, and other highly educated persons in this ethnically Jewsih group contributing to the Israeli economic vibrancy. These are now bona fide Jews and Israelis.
The latter group, which is large and significant, is a parasitic Trojan horse, which Israel would be better off without.
re: #113 buzzsawmonkey
Buzz, Believe me it was not meant as a "slap" to you. Rather it was meant as just a comment on what i have perceived. I apologize if i gave you offence. It was merely a statement in genral terms, basrd on my personal experiences. However, when it comes to ploome, given her hatred of Catholcs, Brits, and her uncanny ability to determine what causes accidents, my statments stand.
She would be a great Heydrich.
You're right. Unfortunately, no one knows what an immigrant will so until he comes here. Look at the situation in the US,
Nonetheless, it strikes me as reprehensible that anyone would consider setting up a Nuremberg type tribunal to determine who is/isn't a good Jew and who should/shouldn't be allowed to immigrate. Israel needs everyone. And who knows if the next "mischling" will turn out to be a Moshe Dayan.
Wait a second. I'm confused. Do you mean that a secular Russian Jew who lays down his life for the State of Israel (serves in the IDF) is no better, no worse, than a Finkelstein or Chomsky? what's that definition of "moral relativism" again?
Can't wait for my upcoming baby to be old enough for their summer programming!
My 5 year old granddaughter went to a Chabad Gan for a few years, and our family is secular. Now she is in kindergarten, and the kids belong to a Conservative Temple that has a Hebrew school, as does Chabad...she chose to go to Chabad, as the Rebbitzin and teachers are just wonderful with the kids, and they teach with such dedication. They live in NJ.

The good lord (small l) Charles giveth and taketh away. What else can I say?
Guess charles is playing whackamole with illegals just like the US gov.
It's in the nature of the harsh judgement (the condemnatory attitude which I balk at -- given the history of Israel -- from its earliest secular Zionist leaders to the present day, there have been any number of heroic deeds not done for strictly religious reasons) --- certainly we can see that a "happy accident" is not the same in all cases. I also have no idea what you mean by stating : " chauvinism which rejects the basis for its existence is the same across the board, even though the actions of individual chauvinists may differ widely.." (I'm not interested in starting an argument here, it's just that I don't understand what you mean).
But, but, but -- because you're proud to be a Jew therefore you're a Chauvinist? Well, who says?
hmmm..let me just say that it's not only Jews who have determined who Jews are. Isn't this the whole point of why Israel has decided to accept people into Israel who are not "religiously" speaking, strictly speaking, Jews? Yet, these very people (ie, the ones gentiles deem "Jews," yet the Jews say, "no") have been the subject of persecution, etc., be accorded some degree of tolerance? acceptance?
so many of the Russians that were brought to Israel in the 90's were just not jewish - even by reforn standards
There were political reasons for bringing them
There is today a huge underclass of Israeli citizens that are not Jewish and not arabs. Israel is also the only country that I know of that has non-denominational, no religious affiliation, cemetaries, for this reason.
Immigration Law in Israel needs to be changed but the leftist politicos do not want to touch it
