ABC News says there’s going to be another new videotape from Osama bin Laden: The Blotter: Second Bin Laden Tape Expected.

A second tape from Osama bin Laden was recorded in the same location as the video released last week.

People in the intelligence community who have seen the tape feel it is directly related to the 9/11 anniversary since the al Qaeda leader introduces the prerecorded martyrdom video of one of the 9/11 hijackers, Waleed al Shehri.

I suspect Adam Gadahn might be writing Osama's speeches for him. (Robert Spencer has an article about this on, I believe, jihadwatch this morning.)

They're going to be playing the recorded statement of one of the "martyrs"? But, wait, no. . . it was all a set-up, ya see, by ChimpyBushitler and Halliburton! They blew up the Twin Towers with the help of the Mossad, and Baldwin IV, the Leper King, as part of their nefarious plot to make Islam look bad!

Remember the terrorists don't like to use dates with significance to us, prefering instead to create new dates of infamy. Sept 11 was jsut another day before they attacked, so I am fairly certain any new attack will come at a place and time that is significant to them and possibly not so much to us. Unfortunately on the other hand I feel it will be a broader attack, one that will affect small town America as well as the big icons of our economic power. So Wall St and the Mall of America seem more likely or like Glenn Beck is talking about right now attacks on our schools.

How do MSM promote an agenda? Was scanning news this morning and the co-owed Wisconsin State Journal/Capital Times both carried the same story on an anti-war rally in Wisc, with Cindy "nutjob" Sheehan as the headliner. They both papers ncluded this line early in the story.

The "Peace Mom," whose soldier son Casey, 24, was killed just five days after arriving in Iraq in 2004, resigned May 29 as an anti-war activist.

Actually he was in his second tour. Casey re-enlisted while in Iraq. He thought enough of our involvement to go back for another tour. This isn't just a casual omission or a certain word used to create a tone, it's a fabrication of facts to promote a political point of view.

Link

Osama Bin Laden's widely publicized video address to the American people has a peculiarity that casts serious doubt on its authenticity: the video freezes at about 1 minute and 36 58 seconds, and motion only resumes again at 12:30. The video then freezes again at 14:02 remains frozen until the end. All references to current events, such as the 62nd anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan, and Sarkozy and Brown being the leaders of France and the UK, respectively, occur when the video is frozen! The words spoken when the video is in motion contain no references to contemporary events and could have been (and likely were) made before the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

re: #26 Jihad Worrier

It's not entirely true...
Shenanigans in the Osama video?

The opening segment is indeed boilerplate but the second segment at 12:36 refers to the Democrats’ failure “to implement your desire to stop the war.” That would have been an odd criticism for Osama to level in 2003 given that popular support for the war in March of that year was bipartisan, with 65% approval, and it would have been in his interest at the time to portray America as united in its “crusade” to make for better jihadist recruitment. It’s a more sensible criticism circa 2005 or 2006, but even then the Democrats had no power to “stop the war” until November of last year — which would, after all, make the clip fairly recent. Besides, as BT acknowledges, the voice sounds the same throughout and two U.S. intel officials confirm that it’s Osama’s.

We'll see what happens with this next video.

Why not bomb the hell out of those mountains? Turn the mountainous region between Pakistan and Afghanistan into a parking lot.

#24, this is as wild a fantasy as any from the troofers.

Nukes can flatten cities, which are made of wood and kind of airy and fragile, and mostly about 20 feet tall. They cannot flatten mountain ranges, which are made of, hello, solid rock, and run to 20 thousand feet tall. (Or, in the case of Afghanistan/Pakistan, say, merely 10 000. And these mountain ranges are far more extensive than a city.

Or were you proposing to do it with conventional explosives?

And, one final little, teeny weeny objection: half this stuff is in Pakistan, and they do have nukes, and their counterstrike would not be aimed at the Rocky Mountains.

71 opnion  Mon, Sep 10, 2007 8:36:50am

Why does the media love to show things like OBL with his new Grecian Formula beard threatening us , when they censor other things?
Case in point , the MSM no longer shows the video of people leaping to their deaths from the Towers. The explanation is that the wounds are too fresh.
It was six years ago! We need to remember and I believe that is why they do not show it. I believe to the MSM that multi-culturalism is more important than the War on Terror. You know people might remember that Muslims had something to do with 9/11.

Sad, sorry, and pathetic. Kos kidz show that our educational system is failing.

That depends on what you expect the educational system to do. As a means to turn out responsible, thinking, rational, logical individuals, our educational system has failed miserably. On the other hand, if your intent is to turn out a huge mass of people that are incapable of thought, to say nothing of independent thought, that would not know logic if it bit them on the ass, people who are fit for nothing other than sheepdom and slavery - well then, our educational system is currently well down the road to success.

True story: One of my daughters writes for a living. She just called me to tell me that a US college student, currently enrolled in Introduction to Psychology II somewhere, contacted her to inquire about having a paper written. The paper: an assignment intended to teach the student how to produce work in APA format. Student Solution: Hire someone who knows how to do it!

82 Priapus  Mon, Sep 10, 2007 8:38:54am

I find it amazing that so many people, even those on the left, actually take these OBL videos at face value. It should've been painfully clear after the 2004 pre-election tape that they're ruses, exercises in reverse psychology. But the common narrative at the time was that it was an attempt to sway the election towards Democrats. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Bin Laden is this administration's Goldstein, and every communique from him is like political gold. They're mutual bogeymen who need one another. Years before 9/11, OBL's stated goal was to drag the west into an epic battle with Islamic civilization. He does not want this conflict to end. That's why he's done all he can to spook people into rallying around the Preident. These messages have been designed for a purpose, and it appears that they're achieving their intended effect all too well.

83 Pawn of the Oppressor  Mon, Sep 10, 2007 8:39:40am

Like I said before... You folks saying "It's not the same guy" are literally chasing shadows.

I bet they decided to release the B-reel after our sneaky intel types stole their thunder a few days early. "Oh so you stole our tape? Well guess what, we have another! Take that, eenfeedels!"

I suspect Adam Gadahn might be writing Osama's speeches for him. (Robert Spencer has an article about this on, I believe, jihadwatch this morning.)

That would make sense. I wonder what his handles at Kos, HuffPo, and DU are.

The last speech does read like it was written with the guidance of an ignorant, illiterate leftist college drop-out who spends his time surfing the protest-y websites, which is probably what Adam does when he's not killing time in Jihad Chat somewhere.

Unfortunately this is the kind of comment that will be cherry-picked and developed into a new conspiracy.

I seriously think Bin Laden is dead and has been for some time - this video doesn't do much to assuage that feeling, but the possibility exists that he's still out there.

Just thinking out loud so jump my a**. Let's assume OBL is alive and issuing instructions to the faithful. Now just a something to chew on while back some guys from Delta or Seals or some other operators put eyeballs on the tall figure in white. While they were evaluating the target they noticed who was coming and who was going. A decision was made that just watching and following the traffic would yield more results that whacking the SOB. That weapons with OBL's name on it got held cold until the intel value run out.

This is related to Osama and al Qaeda and the forthcoming Gen. Petraeus speech before Congress. Totten interviews a Colonel operating in Ramadi and asks about al Qaeda in Iraq. The answer shouldn't be surprising to folks here, but might be to those who rely solely on big media outlets:

Some in the United States are unconvinced that Al Qaeda was really at the center of the conflict in Anbar. So I asked Colonel John Charlton how the Army knows Al Qaeda is really who they have been dealing with. He was supremely annoyed by the question.

“We know it’s Al Qaeda,” he said. There is no controversy whatsoever about this in Iraq. My question seemed to him as if it had come from another planet. “They self-identify as Al Qaeda. We didn’t give them that name. That’s what they call themselves. We have their propaganda CDs which have Al Qaeda written all over them.”

It’s not a dumb question, though, if a substantial number of Americans aren’t sure what’s going on in a bottomlessly complicated country eight or more times zones away. And not everyone who underestimated Al Qaeda’s presence is a fool.

Al Qaeda terrorists are self identifying themselves as such. The US doesn't need to invent 'em since they're identifying themselves when killed or captured based on the materials they have with them. Osama and al Qaeda made Ramadi and Anbar the center of the fight for Iraq, and they're losing bigtime.

They need to rally - and the latest video might have been a step in that direction - get attention off the fact that they've been hammered in Iraq, and instead focus on the homefront where a pliant media and a Democratic party that is beholden to the fringe anti-war leftists where they may have a chance to acquire by Democratic party cut and run what they could not by the field of battle.

This reminds me of that Saturday Night Live sketch where Tom Brokaw was going on vacation, so the news producers pre-recorded a bunch of news items trying to cover all the bases while the anchor was on vacation.

SNL Brokaw Vacation

Not too hard to imagine Bin Laden and his producers making stuff up.

OBL: Congratulations great American Satan for electing Democrats for your majority governm...now that's just crazy, they'll never do that.

Producers: Yeah, well Binny, we're just trying to cover all the bases here. You're the one who decided you're going to live in a cave the next few years. Just keep reading.

OBL: Fine. Blah blah Great American Satan...62nd anniversary of Japan bombing Pearl Harbor, next year is a leap year, and your evil Western tv show LOST will reveal that all the characters really are in Purgatory...wait a minute that's insane! Everyone knows that it is just a giant dream and they'll wake up on the original airplane.

Producers: They could make a last minute change...we wouldn't want your credibility shot over something that easy to foresee now would we? Are you going to keep recording or not? I'm sure that al-Sadr would be more than happy to take your place.

OBL: OK, ok..no need to be hasty..reading on...

Now that I think about it... Isn't being a terrorist leader just plain boring? What do you do all day, anyway? Come up with some ideas for where and how to set off explosions, and then... What? Read the Koran? Make a couple of phone calls? Hike over to the next camp and inspect the troops? Host lunch with the local sheik, and talk about Islam? Write a fatwa? Where's the variety?

What do you do for fun? I can imagine life is pretty dull when you're All Islam, All The Time.

- Booze... banned.
- Music... banned.
- Sex... mostly banned. Only at night, only one position, and sure you might have two dozen women to pick from, but they're all taciturn, inexperienced, and wearing bedsheets.
- Travel... Not possible. Maybe pop over to the next valley to pick up a paper or meet with the local leader types. Anything else runs the risk of earning you a high explosive sandwich for lunch.
- Food... Goat meat and anemic grain, maybe some tea. Alton Brown nowhere to be found.
- Books besides the Koran... Arabic only. No novels.
- The internet... lousy connection. No porn. Arabic sites only.

I'd be happy to go blow myself up somewhere if that was all I had to do.

That isn't a turban in the same idea as a length of fabric wound around the head. re: #125 Vagrant

Actually, I don't have a problem with them calling it a martyrdom video - it puts yet another face on the whole charade that followers of Islam are into peace - their idea of martyrdom is to slaughter thousands of people - murdering them by trapping them in buildings and giving them the choice of burning alive or jumping to their deaths - or obliterated into fragments no bigger than a thumbnail or never even recovered.

These are jihadis who are following Islam. This is what they do. This is how they define themselves.

Yes, the videos show the smug satisfaction of terrorists on their way to kill thousands - taped confessions as it were, but exposing these videos for what they are is paramount.

It's a propaganda video to try and lure others to jihad.

We were having a late night discussion and she tells me that she has come to the conclusion that there are only a couple of companies in the world, that everything else is part of them and they run everything. Her nominations: ATT and Disney.

That's TRUE!

It's just like Chinatown in Philadelphia. On the street it looks as though there's dozens of different and interesting restaurants. Under ground it's just one big (happy family) kitchen*!

Anti-war leaders stymied, frustrated

A well-known anti-war leader has gone public with the transcript of a private conference call that shows peace activists are exasperated with the Democratic congressional leadership and at a loss for a long-term strategy.

The Aug. 29 call highlights divisions in the Democratic Party that Republicans are gearing up to try to exploit as Congress debates its response to the report on Iraq this week by Gen. David H. Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker.

On Monday, the pair begins two days of testimony on Capitol Hill.

Republicans say the call reflects the degree to which war opponents have failed to gain the advantage that many in both parties thought would build over the summer.

Rabbi Michael Lerner, the editor of Tikkun magazine, posted the transcript Friday on the website of the Network of Spiritual Progressives, of which he is a co-chair.

The transcript shows that opponents of the war in Iraq plan to try to convince freshman Democrats from conservative districts that they might not get reelected unless the party produces something serious in the way of resistance to the war.

But the call shows the war opponents are having little success because of fears about the impact on next year’s elections if the party is seen as defeatist.

Good idea. Post the transcript of a private call so everyone can see what weasely bastards you all are. I'm sure the fencesitters in Congress will be beating a path to your doors now that you feel like talking about this openly.

Still, nice to see they are incompetent and stupid.

Flashy graphics surround a grainy low-res image of Osama-dummy. After a few seconds of the Osama dummy reading some banal drivel about the 19 mujahadeen. Then the image of Osama-dummy goes freeze-frame while the voice-over reads out all the time significant events: Iraq, the Madrid bombing, Global Warming, etc.

Why did the Osama dummy freeze up? Because it's fake. Osama is dead. If he was alive, then AQ would release a high quality video showing the old creep actually talking, as clear as the videos of Adam Gadhan & Zawahiri.

OT and linkage: in case you needed any further confirmation that the Left/Islam alliance is a natural one, comes this piece via Moonbattery:

Educrats Confirm Their Militant Humorlessness at Ohio State. Van Helsing of Moonbattery excerpted the following quotes:

Do not joke about differences related to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, ability, socioeconomic background, etc.

[...]

It is the responsibility of any student in the residence halls to report incidents of racial or other discrimination or harassment to residence hall staff.

[...]

Words, actions, and behaviors that inflict or threaten infliction of bodily or emotional harm, whether done intentionally or with reckless disregard, are not permitted.

I think the Leftist doctrine of "treat everything through the eyes of a psychotherapist" and the Islamic one of "It is deadly serious about everything" (Khomeini about Islam) have reached a true state of being a fertilizing dialectic. Though, one might add, that is fertilizing, as in "fertilizer" or the original source thereof.

194 ZionistYoungster  Mon, Sep 10, 2007 9:34:11am

More linkage. For 9/11, we get an extra dosage of left-wing patriotism, of the "don't question it" type, of course:

Forever The Victims, by James Carroll. Excerpts:

“Why do they hate us?” we asked six years ago, thinking of the terrorists and all who cheered them. The question assumed our innocence and good will. Didn’t our enemies know what we stand for? The United States is the last best hope of Earth, the city on a hill, a freedom-loving people. Our virtue is as self-evident as the truths we hold. When we finally caught our breath in 2001, it was to ask how anyone could have so wished to hurt us?

[...]

If the United States finds a way, eventually, to withdraw from Iraq without ever having reckoned the war as an expressly American evil, then the world will be at risk for its savage replay. That is why this week’s debate matters. It must be informed, above all, by clarity as to who the victims are, and who the perpetrators are. Six years ago, having suffered, we cloaked ourselves in victimhood, which made us dangerous.

Six Years of 9/11 as a License to Kill, by Norman Solomon. Excerpts:

It evokes a tragedy that marks an epoch. From the outset, the warfare state has exploited "9/11," a label at once too facile and too laden with historic weight - giving further power to the tacit political axiom that perception is reality.

[...]

What happened on Sept. 11, 2001, was extraordinary and horrible by any measure. And certainly a crime against humanity. At the same time, it was a grisly addition to a history of human experience that has often included many thousands killed, en masse, by inhuman human choice. It is simply and complexly a factual matter that the U.S. government has participated in outright mass murders directly - in, for example, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Panama, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq - and less directly, through aid to armies terrorizing civilians in Nicaragua, Angola, East Timor and many other countries.

Pigs of War, by the AttnProstitute herself, ranting about Dems who supported the Iraq war back in 2003, indulging in her typical Summer of '69 style. Excerpt:

What if instead of pigs of war in our government, we had elected officials who put humanity before politics and people before profits? Maybe the horrible twin tragedies of the Bush Regime and 9-11 would have never occurred within our borders and the rest of the world could look up to the USA with respect as a true leader in world peace instead of glaring at our shocking and awful quest for empire off the backs of the many who benefit the pocketbooks of the few? %uF0A7 But whatever militant Islam does, it does not frighten me as much as what I believe our government would do afterward by exploiting the event just it did for Iraq. Our basic freedom is at risk, not from al Qaida, but from some of our fellow citizens.

Translation: America is the problem, not militant Islam ...

%uF0A7 If the massive, needless destruction of human lives and property is a measure of insanity, then Bin Laden is no more insane than is George W. Bush. As I see it, the real difference between Bin Laden and George W. Bush is that Bin Laden has far better command of his native language compared to Bush.

A second tape from Osama bin Laden was recorded in the same location as the video released last week.

WHY are we constantly fed parsed sentences with this dead carcass?
SAME LOCATION? IT"S THE SAME TAPE! Remixed!
The first one is a voice over with screen splits/freeze yet the voice continues without breaks - no one notice that? Some other blogger did - but it's not tricky to see. Blah ba blah blah blah Alhamdallah, blah blah DISJOINTED VIDEO jerk blah blah blah etc etc ad nauseum.
Now, with the same photo, we get the astoundingly bland, "was recorded in the same location as the video release last week."
Where's the "HEY. It's another re-run."
I really don't care about Bin Laden, cause he's dead. HE as a person is already history. His IMAGE is eminently manipulate-able, no surprise. BUT WHO are the people who are SUPPOSED to be on OUR SIDE who are enabling these bald frauds by failing to be straight with the US public - parsing their comments to help preserve the myth that Laden's still a player?
