Lantos argues that in supporting Maliki we're repeating what he termed the mistake of supporting the mujahedeen against the Soviet Union which he said "paved the way for the Taliban."

Lantos lied. He stated that Petreaus is being "sent here by the Bush Administration" ... that's flat out false and Lantos knows it. Petraeus is speaking today because Congress mandated it as part of the military funding bill.
