Already? What's the deal? I don't have cable.

The Democrats have already decided the report. Why bother going through the motions? It's a travesty that previous generations would never have allowed to happen.

Yup. The Queen Bee Pelosi has already decided to call it "The Bush Report", according to the Opinion Journal.

Not "Progressive"... Anti-American.
Not "Anti-War"... On the other side.

Woaw! I just got word from a Truther Conference that General Petreaus's report is written on special, waterproof, paper and ink. If you hold the report underwater, it will be revealed that Karl Rove flew the airplanes into the 9/11 towers by Mind Controlling the Arab Terrorists on board. It was all a 'Voodoo" style plan by Karl Rove from the very beginning!

And only until now do we have proof. We would have had proof of this Voodoo conspiracy if it weren't for Karl Rove generating an artificial hurricane "Hurriane Katrina was no ""Natural Disaster"" folks" and slamming it into New Orleans, 'totally destroying all of the Voodoo stores and homes where the plan was drudged up.'

The depth of the pit

John F Kennedy, January 20, 1961

" Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

This much we pledge—and more.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided, there is little we can do—for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder."

24-hour Battle Reshapes Outlook for Hawr Rajab

HAWR RAJAB, Iraq, Sept. 10, 2007 — Over the course of 24 hours, Sept. 6 and 7, a decisive battle reshaped the security outlook for Hawr Rajab, when more than 80 concerned local citizens swept through the streets looking to drive al-Qaeda elements out of the city.

"They’re (citizens) tired of them (al Qaeda). They want to take back their city. That area has been under the control of al Qaeda for some time." Capt. Chad Klacius, commander of Troop A

Wow. Skelton is doing his best to cast the most negative light on everything before the report.

Get the hook.

Could be, but Skelton is extremely knowledgeable about military history and has both supported Petraeus and been supported by him. He is not a moonbat. See this article re his orientation and expertise.

Skelton calls the choice of Lt. Gen. David Petraeus to lead U.S. troops in Iraq "excellent-just excellent." During the dedication of the National World War I Museum in Kansas City, Mo., the two spent a good part of the morning touring the museum and discussing battles. Last year, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., named a chair for counterinsurgency after Skelton, an effort spearheaded by Petraeus, an expert in counterinsurgency himself. Skelton is "a true student and lover of history," Petraeus tells U.S. News. "He has had far and away the most significant impact on our professional military education institutions and programs."

Isn't he a Hungarian survivor of the Holocaust?

Yes. And he's also profoundly misguided.

He's arguing for withdrawal of American troops because we're supposedly just propping up Maliki who has ties to Iran. Lantos argues that in supporting Maliki we're repeating what he termed the mistake of supporting the mujahedeen against the Soviet Union which he said "paved the way for the Taliban."

Something here does not compute:

1. Lantos is allegedly concerned about Iranian influence.
2. Therefore we withdraw, and allow Iran to have more influence.
3. ?
4. Profit?

That's the point... The Democrats are stonewalling, filibustering, in order to ensure enough American viewers turn off the T.V. or Radio or switch channels/freqs. The Democrats know they are losing a battle they can't win here so they can only limit the damage that Petraeus's report does to their stance.

It's how Republicans lose elections to Democrats. The Democrats get enough coverage to kill an elephant, while we have to deal with small eyefuls.

They are in position to claim ownership of the change in our fortunes there...but instead of doing that, they are insisting on defeat, surrender, and yet another abandonment of friends, allies, and peoples to a likely totalitarian theocracy and genocide.

Thanks! I KNEW there was someone high-ranking in the military involved in the quote. I appreciate the lizard fact check.

I remember it was BARELY mentioned in the MSM, if at all - as I recall, I heard it on Rush.

I checked on Rush's site. Here's what Lantos said:

"With an infinitely more distinguished public record than yours," the congressman hissed. "Admiral Boorda committed sui-ciiide when he may have committed a minor mistake." It looked like Craig Livingstone would burst into tears! Imagine, a member of Congress suggesting this kid should've fallen on his sword!

My description was a little off. It was an Admiral who committed suicide, and Lantos did more than allude.

Didn't all the Dems vote for Petraeus?

Well, that's because all their posturing about a change in direction and leadership was only an attempt to achieve their fundamental goal, which has always been surrender and defeat.

Meh. This whole thing is a waste of time and effort. The moonbats have already made up their minds. The hardcore Bush supporters are unmovable, and Bush has his jaws in this thing like a pitbull. He'll NEVER withdraw troops as long as he is in office. SO now, this whole "period" of time is really a waste of effort as far as reports go and for measuring "benchmarks" etc. et. al. . The important period will be a 18 months from now and who will get elected president and how the situation in iraq will change from now till jan 2009. I predict the following- if things get worse by 2009 and a democrat is in office we will pull out. if things get worse but a republican is elected we will pull out but probably very slowly in a hope that the iraq army will take up the slack. If things go better and a dem is elected we will STILL pull out but slowly, and if things get better and a republican is elected then we will probably stay until asked to leave.

For those of us who are not C-SPAN junkies: :)

The chairman (party in power) and ranking member (the top gun from the minority) make opening remarks with no time limit. This is a combo meeting of two committees so that is why there were 4 who spoke before the Patreus mic fiasco.

There are 107 members present and each will get 5 minutes to unload so this thing could go on for well over 6 hours...

The perception that is going to be changed is the national perception of the political parties...and which party is for hope and which party is for surrender.

I wonder if there will be mention of the late August political agreement made in Iraq that includes the return of some Sunni's to the political process - or Maliki starting to clean house at the Ministry of Interior?

That will help take away the D move of the goalposts from military to political.

Hmmm...facts...empirical data...color charts a second grader could understand. I don't trust any of it.

Oh Crap! General Petraeus forgot to send his Democrat Party Donation to Lantos. That explains the anti-Petraeus tirade!

re: #61 reine.de.tout

OT - please don't shoot me if this violates protocol - I put this at the very end of the previous thread, not sure how many people will see it but some of you may be interested so I'm putting it here too:

That was an outstanding article! Thank you for posting it. Those few of us that can read enjoy knowing the truth. It's a shame to know the future of this country and yet be unable to alter its steady march toward entropy.

Anyone else think Rep. Ike Skelton looks like Red Skelton a bit?

467 runrabbitrun  Mon, Sep 10, 2007 10:51:51am

Terrific that the General is laying it on the line re: Iran and the Quds forces, Al-Queda in Iraq, etc.

Since Petraeus testified at the outset that his remarks were not okayed or revised by the administration in The White House, this means that those revelations are factual, or the General is either a liar, or incompetent.

I'd love for someone to ask Pelosi or Reid which exactly they believe.

re: #443 pingjockey

Much is made that Boorda was to meet with the Newsweek reporter that hawked the story about the medals the day he was found shot to death. It is less widely reported that Boorda had a meeting scheduled that day with Bill Clinton as well. Many speculate that Boorda was going to threaten to expose misappropriation of military technology to the Chinese. This was just a few weeks after Ron Brown was killed. This was just a few weeks before TWA 800, and there is also speculation that Boorda was involved in what many think was the tracking of a known terrorist plot to collide a plane full of explosives with a jetliner in the act of gaining altitude.
People that posed a threat to Bill Clinton or his wife often killed themselves and had the investigations into their deaths interfered with by the Justice Department.
