-RetweetPoll: About Those Osama Clips

Wed, Sep 12, 2007 at 6:28:21 pm PDT

The LGF polling plugin has been rewritten and thoroughly Ajax-ified, and given a new look. You can now click the ‘Show’ button and update the results in real time, without reloading the page, even if you haven’t voted yet.

(There’s also an option to restrict voting to registered LGF lizards, but I haven’t fully tested it yet.)

Since our poll about the oxygen-consuming capacity of Al Qaeda’s Saudi figurehead was rudely interrupted by bugs last night, here’s that simple question again, via the new, fantasmically automagic Ajax polling plugin:

LGF Poll

Do you believe Osama bin Laden is alive?

What are we worried about Bin Laden for? Keith Olbermann says Rupert Murdoch is a far greater threat to the United States than Al Qaeda. And he's "truthy".

I agree with #12 varys - if he were to die, I think they'd hide it as long as possible, not so much because it would be a victory for us (or at least a positive thing), but because they'd be afraid of losing a lot of his followers; I have to think (or hope) that a lot of these losers are just "Osama Groupies" that don't really have the cojones for true warfare, and that if they didn't have him to fawn over, they might lose their hard ons for jihad (pardon my French, my mother would be appalled). I think the true believers know this, and would keep any bad news regarding OBL under wraps; PLUS, if he were to die of anything besides a US bomb - like if he finally succumbed to that nasty rash or something - they'd never want it publicized that he didn't go out in a blaze of glory.

Of course, if Stalin and Molotov hadn't given Hitler the greenlight to invade Poland (in exchange for part of it), the subsequent invasion of Russia and the millions dead wouldn't have happened.

On the other hand, if Hitler had kept his deal with Stalin and the USSR, the NYT and leading Commie symps of the day probably never would have supported US entry into any war against Nazi Germany.

Interesting side bar to the topic:

Early yesterday morning, a South Carolina Web designer who works at home managed to scoop al-Qaeda by publicly unveiling its new video, a feat she has accomplished numerous times since 2002. Within hours, cable news stations were broadcasting images of Osama bin Laden commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and crediting the 50-year-old woman, who uses the pseudonym Laura Mansfield.

The new mainstream of the Democratic party...

Howard Dean Parties with American Muslims

Dean made quite an impression with Muslims at ISNA, and it marks the first time that a major political leader has made outreach to the convention, which usually brings together somewhere between 30-50,000 Muslims from around the country, most of them of voting age.

In a wonderful blog post by a Chicago blogger, the evolution of American Islam - the difference between older Muslims who were largely apathetic towards politics and the young "ISNA Deaniacs" -- is made clearly manifest.
...
There is a reason that Republicans do not outreach to ISNA. In a case involving a charity with alleged links to Hamas currently going on in Dallas, the complaint listed ISNA (along with 300 other Muslim figures and organizations) as "unindicted co-conspirators." Conservatives use ISNA's appearance on such a list to smear it as an enemy to America.

...
There is really no reason for ISNA to be on this list. The fact of the matter is that the Department of Justice actually had a booth at the ISNA convention this year. So did the Department of Homeland Security -- in fact, in an amusing twist, see this picture where they sat right next to an organization which stupidly but peacefully agitates for an international caliphate and didn't make any arrests.

Legitimizing the Caliphate.

Whether the clip was spliced or not is not the salient point. The big question is when Obama - sorry, I mean, Osama - bin Laden mentioned temporal recent events can those be verified as emanating in Arabic from the mouth of Ob...Osama? Until then, one must remain agnostic. However, the Obasama clip does show demonstrate one thing equivocally: whether Osamabama is alive or not, the Al Qaeda jihadis behind the clip are in a state of desperation. They are weak and referring to Noam Chomsky, etc. because they are in retreat and not making the headway they feel that they deserve, Inshallah.

Hyperconspiratorial: "Bin Laden never existed; he was a sock-puppet created by Halliburton that sent brain waves that forced Clinton to have sex with Monica, thus setting up George W. Bush for his eternal reign over the entire world."

John-Edwardsesque: "He would have lived if Afghanistan had had national health care."

Bin Laden used to be able to deliver terrorists to hijack planes and crash them into buildings, but now all he can do is deliver video tapes.

Hell, I thought I had stumbled onto a Saturday Night Live skit when I saw the latest videos.

If he is alive, I keep waiting for him to announce as a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the presidency. He's on par with the other candidates, except they haven't used "Just for Men" beard dye in the last few months. Well, maybe Hillary has, but only Nancy Pelosi could confirm that.

108 Thanos  Wed, Sep 12, 2007 6:53:02pm

After lots of digging I've come up without official gov't confirmation in any of the stories on voiceprint -- everything says "still analyzing". So... I think jury is out.

If the prints match, and there's not tons of splicing in the "current events" segments, then he's alive.

The frustration in Bin Laden's letter is also because he and his followers are not up against the Soviets who he and his fellow jihadists battled in Afghanistan in the 1980s, but against a far more lethal, far more competent American military fully on display in Kaplan's pages. They are winning the war against Bin Laden's progeny not just in Anbar province but in places as far removed from each other as the remote islands in the Philippines, the rugged desert roads beyond Timbuktu, the jungles of Colombia and the south of Algeria. Bin Laden's desperate appeals to the anti-war left in the United States are increasingly high-pitched because Bin Laden is recognizing not only that he was wrong about America's character and its president, but also about his troops' ability to go against the Western world's finest.

Bin Laden realizes he can't win. Only the American left can save his vision, and the small bits of hope he has come from newspaper ads in the New York Times attacking Gen. Petraeus, the dizzyingly stupid remarks of members of congress like Robert Wexler and Loretta Sanchez and senators like Barbara Boxer and Joe Biden, and the comments on a thousand blogs written by the tiny segment of the American population that sees retreat and defeat as a necessary thing. "How can I be losing to these people?" he must wonder. That is one confused hedgehog who knew the wrong thing because of very bad data

Actually, since both the Judaic and Islamic calendars are lunar, with the difference the Musselmen never tried to figure out a system to have their seasons correlate with their calendar, then Bombadan should fall on JNY about once every 12 years.

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my Obama from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash
He did the Obama mash
The Obama mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the Obama mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the Obama mash
The Obama mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the Obama mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Zarqawi Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "The Crypt-Kicker Five"

They played the mash
They played the Obama mash
The Obama mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the Obama mash

Out from his coffin, Drac's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, "Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?"

It's now the mash
It's now the Obama mash
The Obama mash
And it's a graveyard smash
It's now the mash
It's caught on in a flash
It's now the mash
It's now the Obama mash

Now everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band
And my Obama mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can Obama mash
The Obama mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can Obama mash

Al Q is a bunch of failed, sissy has-beens now. The ones with the nuts to show their faces are all dead, probably mostly by Iraqis these days.

Democrats are saddened, blame Bush. Errr, wait...

176 wanumba  Wed, Sep 12, 2007 7:40:51pm

Can we have a poll of how many people know Hillary only uses the military for serving canapes at White House soirees?

It was comparable to Jamie Gorelick questioning Condi Rice about Intel lapses - the CLinton appointee bureaucrat who set the Wall in place. Even chutzpah fails utterly to convey the nerve of that woman to demand that Rice answer her questions when a sizeable chunk of the blame was hers for implementing the travesty she was tasked to do by her superiors, for reasons never explained. Mena airport comes to mind unbidden whenever the WALL subject comes up, wonder why.

Then Hillary, of the Bill (I loath the military) Clinton-meld, sits at the table and questions General Patraeus, she of the make-the-Marines-waiters-infamy, about integrity. Cattle futures, fund-raiser coffees, Chinese missle technology ... These people are completely without shame. Don't make nice, it's never appreciated and would be marked down as weakness.

Arguments against Obamasama being alive: (1) The guys is very tall and noticeable. (2) If we were alive, being the rock star jihadi he is, wouldn't he be issuing more videos? (3) Related to point #1, the guy stands out, so unless he has lived in a safe house for years without going outside, you'd think some poor Pakistani would have reported him for the reward bucks. (4) Related to point #1, the guys stands out, so someone close to him would betrayed him, even if they knocked him off and put his Big Bird body into a truck to drive him to the American embassy for the reward bucks and a promise of asylum and protection. (5) The bombing was intense in Afghanistan and Tora Bora in particular and it would have been a hard escape. (6) With all the contacts Osamabama has, familial and otherwise, someone would have come forth with concrete information on the guy. (7) Related to all of the aforementioned, the dude stands out, knows a lot of people and is in Pashtun Pakistan, where loyalties do not run too deep and shift based on who has the biggest guns and the deepest wallets. (8) Islamists can conspire (witness 9/11) but they tend to be undisciplined when they are not organized as cells, each of which knows little of what the other is doing. (9) Musharraf is a lying hypocrite who may pretend to be our friend but may not want to really help us, much less do anything to net in our enemies.

Arguments against Olamasamabama being dead: (1) Islamist nutballs are insane zealots and love those who promote death. The Islamist nutballs may actually enjoy so much support in Pakistan that even if he were the special attraction at the jihad day parade in Lahore, nobody would turn him in. (2) We are wimpy when it comes to taking Pakistan to task. We let Pakistan get away with anything, and protect anyone, because we are so obsessed with keeping them as allies (never mind that they probably gave away nuclear secrets to North Korea and Iran, and not just as an isolated act of A.Q. Khan). Let's face it, we have not held Saudi Arabia or Pakistan or a number of other nations accountable for their crimes against all of humanity.

Does anyone here, who believes the OBL has been worm food for quite a quite now, wonder why the Federal Government has released two obviously identifiable falsifications as these Osama bin Laden video and audio tapes?

These forgeries having been fabricated and released by Al Qaeda is understandable-- in order to motivate and activate their drones

...however

Who in the Federal Government stands to to gain by the release and broadcast of these bogus messages?

Has anyone asked these questions?

He is dead.

If one remembers to early 2002, President Bush had a very important speech to make. The media was all excited because they thought he was going to announce the succesfull termination of olb.

Bush paused and looked out for quite a while before he spoke. He had two paths to choose from: 1) annouce olb's death, or 2) proceed as we have.

He knew if he took the first path everybody would celebrate and then go home. So he chose the second harder path. But he did not make a decision until he was in front of the crowd.

Well part of that was answered.
The second part is, how can Bush announce he is dead without proof?
Heck, half the people think he did 9/11 instead of Osama.
They can be 99.99 % sure and still not want to say so in case he DOES show up.
My guess is he was in one of those caves we blew to hell.

Money quote from the last thread: "The only way to prove that the audio is really bin Laden is to see him talking in the video," Krawetz says.

Because of the still photo being used while the current events parts of his speech is being said, and because the speech itself sounds unlike his previous speeches, I believe that the video demonstrates that he is almost certainly dead.

And that he's been dead for a long time.

And that it doesn't really matter.

All right, fess up:

Who are you mysterious 555 people?

There's no way those videos are real. I (and others) have been pointing it out from day 1 -- nay, from hour 1.

There is no video of Osama mentioning current events. Only audio. (The video is a still picture during those portions). The audio is obviously someone else's voice -- either an impersonator, or a family member (younger brother as several have suggested). It even sounds like a younger person.

Of the 555, which of you can offer the evidence that it is real?

re: #5 Perplexed

OK, yeah, I'm with the minority here but a variation on the theme. let me elaborate a little.

It's been theorized ( i havent seen the evidence supporting it) that the pics in these two new vids of OBL are photo shops of older images to make him look healthier and more fit. Now, if thats the case and i beleive it is (because the images are nearly identical with cosmetic changes and of such extreme brevity, supporting the idea its photoshopped together) then it would mean OBL is alive, but NOT in good health AT ALL.

It would mean, in fact, one of two things: He is either in extreme ill health and Al Qaeda is desperately trying to hide that fact, or that he is someplace where they just couldnt take imagery because it may reveal WHERE he is or give strong clues.

I think the second of those arguments is obviously the weaker, and the motive to hide him in case one is a lot stronger too.

I think the POS is sick, REAL sick, and probably with Renal Failure. Now, we all know Dr. Ayman Al-Zawahiri is a practicing MD, and we know atleast one other AQ HVT Tier 1 personality is also a practicing MD, but you know what? that doesn't mean he's gonna live forever. If the rumors of OBL having Renal Failure are true, and theyve been around a LONG time, then yeah, living in the tribal areas of pakistan cant be good for him. and even if he has access to the cities like rawalpindi or other closer cities, he can get food that will help him stay alive ( meaning it doesnt worsen his condition). and he can probably get dialysis pretty easily, cause they have money, doctors and access to a lot.

Problem is, IF its renal failure, dialysis only works so long. you are on borrowed time. IF its renal failure, the guy is dying.

Now, ALL this is speculation but based on some good info thats been around a while.

If he IS sick with renal failure, its EXTREMELY LIKELY he's bed ridden.
Thats probably why the images in these and all the last videos in the last, say, three years, were photoshopped and VOICEOVERS. yeah, thats right. i think these are VOICEOVERS, with photoshopped images to hide a VERY sick Osama, who is totally unable to appear on cam, but is still able to do a lot of TV watching, and Voice Recordings for As Sahab productions to turn into High-Quality Fakes.

This is MY take on it.

217 Twombley2  Wed, Sep 12, 2007 11:32:25pm

OK, just read the thread below this one on the main page about the photoshopping done. yeah. maybe he IS dead. or maybe its a voice over. dunno what to make of the photo shopping besides to think its previously recorded video from around the time the 2004 video was taken, in order to make material for later use, just like this, and maybe they dyed his beard to make that less obvious.

I still think his voice is probably the one on the Video, but that he's sicker than hell with something and probably dying. It could be ANY illness but i think he's sick and doing voice overs for As-Sahab, while Al-Zawahiri and company try hard to keep him alive.

IF he's alive AND sick, i hope it is one painful, horrible, suffering condition that lingers to the last moment. i hope he suffers horribly til the end. Then, after he dies, may he rot in hell.

HOW, Part 1

230 Korla Pundit  Thu, Sep 13, 2007 8:21:21am

OBL has been dead since Tora Bora. He's in a collapsed cave in Afghanistan, and will be discovered by archeologists in the year 3297 when the dissolved religion of islam will be a distant memory, making the notion of jihad seem a quaint and mildly interesting historical footnote.

The Osama Returns video, full of John Kerry talking points, released just before the 2004 elections, was created by American lefties in the "entertainment" industry, who were so clueless that they didn't understand that having the enemy parroting your mantras was not ever going to win you any converts.

All other videos and audio of Osama since the end of 2001 were reedited old clips and sometimes stills of the dead mass murderer, with added spoken word added after the fact to make it appear "recent." Very clumsily produced, actually. Even this new one, which the media promotes as Osama talking about recent events, is an obvious remix with a new soundtrack. Lazy media.

But the CIA always proclaims these things to be authentic. Just like they claimed a lot of things that turned out to not be true.

If anything, having to fake a video of their leader shows that the jihadis really, really want Osama to make a video. And if they have to fake it to accomplish that, that confirms more than anything that he's pushing up mushrooms. (Caves are too dark for daisies.)

231 badsysop  Thu, Sep 13, 2007 8:38:53am

Thank you for giving a straightforward poll instead of one that MSNBC would provide. They'd ask the question like this:

Do you believe Osama bin Laden is alive?

Answer 1: He's dead.
Answer 2: There is a good chance he's dead.
Answer 3: Maybe.
Answer 4: No.

I rarely see a poll they do where they to not appear to try to split a positive response in half for, what I believe to be, erroneous reporting purposes.

I think he may be alive but very ill. Certainly the pictures of him in the video do not show a virile leader. The droopy eye indicates some serious problems. I suspect that they got what shots of him that they could and recorded the speech for a voice over.

If I'm right, I also hope the SOB is suffering every moment of every day. I also hope we can get a line on him and toast his a$$ good. I don't want him alive; I want him dead.
