Sudden Jihad in Dearborn

Thu, Sep 13, 2007 at 7:53:45 am PDT

In Dearborn, police arrested a Muslim yesterday dressed in black clothing with camouflage paint, carrying an AK-47.

DEARBORN - Houssein Zorkot, a 26-year-old Dearborn resident, was arraigned Tuesday in 19th District Court on multiple felony charges, including carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent — a five-year felony.

Zorkot, a third-year medical student at Wayne State University, was allegedly armed with an AK-47 assault rifle and dressed in black clothing with camouflage paint covering his face when he was arrested Saturday in Hemlock Park.

According to police, Zorkot was observed attempting to leave the park in a black SUV after officers had received reports of a man carrying a rifle in the area. He was placed under arrest and is scheduled to undergo a preliminary examination at 9 a.m. Sept. 21 in 19th District Court.

Zorkot has also been charged with one count of possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and one count of felony firearm. He remains in custody on a $1 million bond (cash, no 10 percent).

Is it another case of sudden jihad syndrome? No one is talking about it yet, of course, but that’s exactly what it is. In Zorkot’s own words.

From a page of photographs at zorkot.org, here’s the first one, uploaded on September 8, 2007:

What's the big deal? It's a personal struggle. Or in this case a personal personal struggle.

I wonder what his intentions were
Hide in the bushes and shoot some kids as they went to the playground with their mothers?
Murder some random jogger or biker out for some morning exercise?

These are some of the most disgusting creatures on earth.

Somewhere, I think at the Strategy Page site, is a video of some jihadis planning a mission and then carrying it out. This involved driving up to an outpost in broad daylight and attempting a frontal assault. With the predictable result.

Yes, a lot of jihadists really are that stupid.

Happy hes been arrested.

Please don't be so judgemental.
This poor misunderstood member of the human family may just be troubled.
Perhaps he has family problems we are not aware of, or has been feeling targeted as a minority in this unforgiving xenophobic nation we call the USA.
I'm quite certain once he is interviewed, and his case is properly represented, perhaps by CAIR and/or the ACLU, we will know the truth, and he will be exonerated.

It's not sudden jihad syndrome, it's a case of a suddenly discovered jihadist. They're all over, but they surface rather infrequently.

Can't wait, though to hear the excuses CAIR will come up with:

Well, he was scouting out a location for an islamic eagle scouts meeting!

He heard anti-Zionist were rallying in the park and he went to help out the Jooos!

He was worried about threats of anti-moslem violence and just wanted to disguise himself.

Hey, everybody carries in Detroit. No problem here, just move along!

Assault rifle = Selective-fire weapon first perfected by the Nazis in the StG44
Assault weapon = Legal term invented by anti-rights activists with the distinct purpose of confusing the public between semiautomatic and fully-automatic weapons

If our boy here had a REAL AK-47, I doubt sincerely that he has the proper Federal license for it. In which case, I want to see him get the exact same prison sentence that the courts would gladly hand me for the same crime.

If he had a semiauto version in violation of the local laws, I wish him ill fortune in that case as well.

In either case, the ignorant "reporter" can KMA.

OT:

GIMF Video: The Attacks on New York and Washington

Coming soon to a jihadist computer near you: a new video from the Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) celebrating the 9/11 attacks.

While the video has not yet been officially released, it was intercepted by Laura Mansfield. We'll get the video up as soon as time allows.

The audio on the video matches that from the "preview" an announcement of the upcoming release called it The Blessed Invasion of Manhattan and promised a "special gift" for 9/11. That announcement lead the FBI to investigate the possibility that it was a warning of an upcoming attack on 9/11.

When two new bin Laden videos were released after that--one of them on 9/11--every one assumed that the "special gift" was the video. But it appears that this is the "special gift" that was announced.

Frankly the video isn't all that interesting. A lot of footage of Osama bin Laden, but none of it new. They actually sample the sound the Tardus makes from Doctor Who, which is kind of funny. GIMF also sports a shiny new logo.

What is interesting is the timing of the video's upcoming release. Yesterday three members of GIMF were arrested in Austria.

GIMF is the European arm of al Qaeda's online jihad. They tend to produce videos and magazines using preexisting material from al Qaeda in Afghanistan/Pakistan's as Sahab or al Qaeda in Iraq's al Furqan.

I have no doubt that some Muslims are entering medicine for nefarious purposes.

I was in the hospital several years ago and a doctor who I am fairly certain was a Muslim was doing the rounds for my regular doctor. What he said to me seemed designed to make me feel as bad as possible. I just ignored it at the time... I thought he was just having a bad day. But when I look back, I realize it was something he would never have said in front of other doctors.

Assault weapon (as a legal term) could be used to describe any object capable of being used as a weapon and able to be used to assault someone. Basically anything, although Kennedy's car is is what it brings to mind. It's too vague to be used as a legal term, political term may be a better description.

But in order to understand the root causes of an oppressed Muslim third-year medical student in an American university, we must delve into the history of deprivation and imperialistic abuse young Islamic pre-doctors suffer every day at the hands of the vile kufirs that subsidize their education and allow them to live in their country after his own people have danced in the streets to celebrate the horrible deaths of 3000 American innocents in one morning. Savage, cold-blooded destruction is more than justified in light of America's crimes against potential Middle Eastern doctors, don't you see?

Semiautomatic AK lookalikes are easy to come by; they have been made almost everywhere, including the US. Some are extremely well-made (earliest commercial imports from Hungary), some tend to really ugly but functional (Chinese).

Real AK assault rifles are Class 3 weapons, and there are numerous Federal restrictions on selling, buying, and owning them.

If he really had a genuine AK-47, he's facing federal weapons charges.

Thank you. I am getting tired of Josh Sugarmann's plot succeeding.
Assault rifle = Selective-fire weapon first perfected by the Nazis in the StG44
Assault weapon = Legal term invented by anti-rights activists with the distinct purpose of confusing the public between semiautomatic and fully-automatic weapons

OldLineTexan

Assault weapon (as a legal term) could be used to describe any object capable of being used as a weapon and able to be used to assault someone. Basically anything, although Kennedy's car is is what it brings to mind. It's too vague to be used as a legal term, political term may be a better description.

It was invented to write gun bans, which are political. Its use anywhere else is secondary, and I doubt an editor would accept a reporter describing a lead pipe as an assault weapon. The Sugarmann Code is for firearms only.

First off, Shana Tova!
Secondly, well Detroit used to be murder capital of the USA at one time. Maybe they're just trying to catch up with Miami. I can hardly wait though until some leftwing fashion setter declares that the AK47 is the perfect accoutrement to the peace scarf.

Detroit was the murder capital in the 1980's. Local Detroit stations, and therefore Detroit news, was carried on many cable packages throughout Canada. Meaning many Canadians were getting their glimpse of big city American living by watching the Detroit experience. Scary.

You can buy semi-auto AK47s all over the place. I went to a gun show a week ago and there were hundreds of them there. They go for about $600 to $800 and up.

More Immigration stuff to think about...

Hispanic activist groups call for halt to enforcement of immigration laws

"WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Several Hispanic immigrant organizations called on Congress Wednesday to pass a moratorium on the enforcement of key immigration laws, saying the system is broken and families are being ripped apart by deportations.

Latino Families United and other groups, speaking at a news conference on Capitol Hill, called for a ban on raids, deportations and no-match letters until new immigration reforms are approved. They asserted that the country’s many legal immigrants would make immigration reform a top priority when choosing who to support in 2008 elections."

Full Story: Examiner Story

Are these people who are voting "legally"? Maybe someone should do a random poll and ask if people are in the country legally and if they have ever voted in an election.

Flying Pig Moment?

This is on CNN...

Iraqi youth fear departure of U.S. troops

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. troops should stay in Iraq to keep ethnic violence from spiraling out of control, but they shouldn't stay too long, according to a panel of Iraqi youth convened by CNN.

"Leave, but not now," said Mohamed Ibrahim, a 22-year-old medical student who lives in Baghdad.

"If American soldiers leave Iraq now it will be more, more dangerous for us," said Karrar Sabih, 21, a fellow medical student. One of his three brothers was killed by insurgents south of Baghdad in 2004.

These are opinions one hears often in Iraq. Many Iraqis are uncomfortable with foreign troops on their soil but aware that without them the country could descend deeper into sectarian warfare.

3) I hope the local Po-pos are looking into any mysterious .30 caliber murders they may have had lately. It could be that they caught him on a "mission" that was not his first. Assuming the "AK" was a .30 cal, as most are.

4) And of course I'm assuming that the MSM screwed up and the gun simply "looks like" an AK, it's probably a Norinco clone provided him by whichever homegrown terror camp he "studied" at, like Islamberg in Hancock NY.

Is it time to be able to grow past the "sudden" jihadi syndrome? It's clever enough, no question, but having problems with it when guys have carefully constructed websites that allow them to artificially "celebritize" themselves in their intended roles as as blood-thirsty mass murders.
There are three basic categories of killing, in very simple terms: 3rd degree: accidental (from negligence to 100% unpredictable); 2nd degree: In hot blood (an unexpected fight got out of hand); 1st degree: In cold blood - pre-planned, organized protocol to murder.

"Sudden Jihadi Syndrome" as a term, has the unintended consequence of down-grading a 1st degree cold blood, pre-planned conscious intent/deed to murder to a second degree status. Just don't want to give any free material to be manipulated by the enemy by softening perceptions.

Not clever enough to come up with an alternative, for the first does have the underlying sarc/ poke that "sudden" it ain't. But, more people are hearing it, not realizing the sarc that it's intended to have.

When a generation of medical students enter foreign countries under the guise of study, then run free to commit mass murder, there's got to be a better nomenclature. J.I.s - Jihadist Infiltrators?

Some posters wil probably come to the conclusion that I should go get another cup of coffee to better organize my thoughts ...

Maybe something also to address this University Education PROBLEM. Overpriced universities stiff the Bill-Bob Redneck dude who might actually be a good doctor, in lieu of full-pay foreign dude, because Bill-Bob needs financial aid.

By looking at the determined look on his face in those recent photographs I have an idea he was bound and determined to go down in a blaze of Jihad glory in that park. I think he probably started thinking about that cute little daughter of his, decided those 72 virgins would have to wait at the last minute, and got caught in retreat.

He obviously hates his kid as much as he hates life. I see no retreat in his eyes.

I bet there are a lot of people really cheesed off right now that busted their humps studying to get into med school and then got passed up in favor of this guy. To be an MD in the US is almost instant gravy train, you don't even have to practice Medicine, you can get a job with one of hundreds of insurance companies just reviewing diagnoses and procedural reports and make 6 figure plus incomes. What a waste, at multiple levels.

From his website

[Link: www.zorkot.org...]

I am Houssein A. Zorkot, 26 years old, and I own Zorkot.org, a nonprofit effort to create awareness about Jabal Amel in general and Zrarieh in particular. I support Lebanon and the Resistance. Currently, I am pursuing a medical education and hope to one day become a medical doctor who can make a difference. A medical doctor, in my opinion, is not measured by how much money or influence he has, but rather by the direct effect he has on his society and on his patients. The role of a medical doctor is to heal, to understand, and to not only sympathize but also to embody a great deal of empathy towards his patients. Not only does a doctor need his medical tools and classic medical education, but in addition, he needs... (a big AK47 with the serial number filed off).

Great timing for a puffpiece from der Spiegel, summarized here:

American Muslims Integrating Well?

There are already several influential Muslim interest groups in the US today. One is the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which almost always sends one of its representatives to make the rounds of the talk shows whenever a US flag is set on fire somewhere else in the world. Another is the American Muslim Alliance, which aims to send Muslims to the Capitol. The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) is deeply involved in civil rights issues.

Beyond duplicitous.

The city sat on the story for several days. The mayor's office very specifically made the decision, and made themselves the contact for the case and not the police. (see video)

That's because they don't want to start a holy war in Dearbornistan.

IMO the next wave of attacks on this country are going to originate from Dearborn.

I was wondering about that myself.

Reading about the black flag with white arabic script, the shahada, (photo from 9/9 muslim day parade) I found that this was a flag historically used in battle (jihad).

Looking further, the black armband, some emblazoned with the shahada is representative of expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause and is also recognized as worn by Hamas suicide bombers.

What's the difference between shia and sunni again?

Saddam was a sunni, that I know.

Sunni are about 85% of muslims. They don't believe in the mahdi, are more inclined toward the mohammicide bombings, OBL is was one.
Shia are the smaller group, more apocalyptical, think Ahmadinnerjacket.
The split came when ol mo died and they couldn't decide how to do the succession. What became the sunni decided on a tribal council electing the leader. What became the shia wanted it to be a bloodline thing.
The useful idiots on the left want to think that the sunni and shia will never work together, but it's happening right now, with Iran nudging and funding both sides in Iraq. It's entirely possible that they might work together here in America to achieve chaos.

257 kentuckyjoe  Thu, Sep 13, 2007 9:00:26am

Some observations:

1) What is the armband/patch for? Is it to cover up a tattoo? Are tattoos forbidden in Islam? Or is it the "patch?" I didn't think those had armbands.
2) Is this guy another American converted to Islam? It's difficult to tell his ethnicity, but he does look somewhat Caucasian. Also, the name Zorkot-does not sound Islamic, more like Greek or Russian.
3) Is he ex-military? Notice the "high and tight" haircut.
4) If he was a doctor, he can kiss that good-bye. What a waste.

He's Lebanese from what his website indicates. Still not sure if he was born here or not, but I'm betting he wasn't.

justamomof4 (#222),

Reading about the black flag with white arabic script, the shahada, (photo from 9/9 muslim day parade) I found that this was a flag historically used in battle (jihad).

Looking further, the black armband, some emblazoned with the shahada is representative of expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause and is also recognized as worn by Hamas suicide bombers.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

ISLAM: CALDEROLI, 'PIG DAY' AGAINST NEW MOSQUES

(AGI) - Rome, Sept. 13 - Northern League coordinator, Roberto Calderoli, has said: "We could organise the 'pig day' as to say competitions and shows dedicated to the most beautiful pigs to be hold in the places where somebody thinks to build not a centre for religious activities but the potential centre of recruitment of a terror cells". Calderoli announces protests against the building of a new mosque in Bologna. "The Bologna city council has given to go ahead to the building of a new big mosque, I put myself and my pig at disposal of the committee against the mosque for a walk on the ground where Muslims want to build their mosque" he said today. Calderoli claims the success of a similar initiative in Lodi where the mosque was not built after the ground was declared infected after the walk made by the pig.

Plagiarism at the HuffPo

The current issue of Azure (for which I am an editor), features a piece by Jamie Kirchick on the decline of post-Aparthied South Africa, an essay that was reprinted by the Wall St. Journal’s OpinionJournal. Six days ago, a HuffPo blogger named Henning Andre Sogaard posted a piece on the same subject that reads like an op-ed length version of Jamie’s Azure essay — and in many places it is literally a line-for-line bootleg.

re: #13 The Albatross
I'm never surprised by the occupation of some terror suspects. Really, only in the western world is medicine viewed as a "calling". Most other places (and especially in socialist non-European countries), it's seen as just another job. More skilled and demanding more education/training, but still just a job. An engineer of the human body so to speak.

That's pretty true all right. Just would qualify it that many "doctors" in other countries have less formal training - somewhere between an advanced nurse practitioner and a GP. The education and training required to be a US doctor is waaay ahead of what the majority of these these people normally get.
Having been on the receiving end of just such expertise for many years, makes me a bit more sensitive to the inferior levels of medical practitioning. Seriously wonder about the quality of the documentation of foreign med student applicants have to present to the Universities for admission - and how much of that is fraudulant.

This is a good test:
You are extremely sick with a high fever in Lagos, Nigeria. You have your choice of a Russian doctor with a clinic or the private hospital in downtown Lagos. You've heard that lots of people die at that hospital. What's your decision? To where do you go for medical treatment, cause you could die? The Russian or the Nigerians? Nigeria? Scam-o-rama-ville?

The sick man who was taken to the Russian doctor for diagnosis and treament died five days later. Full-blown malaria. Died before the emergency plane from Europe could land to evacuate him, called in by the Russian doctor.
Exactly one week later an even sicker man who was taken directly to the Lagos hospital for diagnosis and treatment walked out five days later, back on his feet. Full-blown malaria. Even with a resistant case - drugs were switched to better attack the resistant form.

Background info that made the difference between life and death: A Russian doctor may or may not be a doctor, given the Soviet Union's practice of overblowing their numbers - bestowing "doctor" on nurses. What kind of doctor is going to leave Russia for LAGOS, NIGERIA to make a career, for crying out loud? The dying man was rushed to the very same hospital from the clinic, and died at the hospital, hardly inside their doors - it was too late, they couldn't help him. His death is entered into the hospital statistics, enhancing the image that the hospital had been incompetently in charge of his care, not a private clinic. The private clinic effectively skates off, the guy died not in their care, but the hospitals - but they held on to him too long, and misdiagnosed.
Nigerian doctors? They aren't half bad, better than that - in fact many outstanding ones have emigrated to the USA and have done very well. And malaria? There's ONE thing African doctors know upside down and rightways-leftways, and that's malaria. What do Russians know about it?
A lot of people die in Third World countries, making the wrong calls. SOme doctors are more doctors than others.

Yes, the server was hacked by someone using an IP from Oman... Although the hacker had only been in the server for about 40 minutes when I discovered it, he'd already made a number of changes, and was attempting to gather information. There was no option but to shut down the server.
Immediately after stopping the server, we ordered a complete reinstall of the operating system from the datacenter. This should be completed soon, and then I will begin reinstalling the services needed for a webserver. After this, I will begin restoring the sites. Like last time, I expect this to take at least a week. With a little luck, the main site may be up this weekend, and then Ali can post an article about this.

Started clicking through some of the imam and prophet sayings he links to and found this one.
"16. There is a tradition of the Holy Prophet "With the help of hair-dye turn old age into youth so that you do not resemble the Jews". When Imam Ali was asked to comment on this tradition, he said that in the early stage of Islam there were very few Muslims. The Holy Prophet advised them to look young and energetic and not to adopt the fashion of the Jews (priest) having long, white flowing beards. But the Muslims were not in minority then, theirs was a strong and powerful State, they could take up any style they liked. " (Imam Ali)
Could be one explanation of the Just for Men beard UBL was sporting in his last video.

German Converts to Islam Are an Asset, Not a Threat
By Esra Özyürek

In a guest editorial, anthropologist Esra Özyürek from the University of California, San Diego argues that German converts to Islam are not the threat they are claimed to be, and explains how converts make a valuable contribution to German society.

Are you guys watching Fox News and the hunt in Dade County for a white guy, short hair, and a full beard? He's carrying an AK-47...they think it could be a drug deal gone bad. Oh yea.

The picture they're showing now of the suspect shows a black guy. Reminds me of one of those Somali Muslims by his looks.

Ahhh, the state of the city of Dearborn saddens me.

My parents moved to Dearborn when I was 9 months old. (1947) I was raised there. I lived in Dearborn till I was 22. I graduated from Edsel Ford HS (Named after Henry's son, not the car) :-)) When I was in school Dearborn public schools were voted 'Best in the State'

I sure hate to see what has become of this once wonderful city.

Ayman Al-Zawahiri is a medical doctor.
Che Guevara "completed his medical studies."
Francois Duvalier former murderous president of Haiti was a doctor.
Bashar Al-Assad of Syria is an opthamologist. (Hey maybe Kucinich went to visit his doctor!)
Idi Amin dabbled in medicine. Looked at x-rays and learned how to dismember people so he could eat them. Supposedly including one of his wives.
George Habash of PLO fame was a pediatrician, as was Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi of Hamas, who's fortunately gone to meet his virgins. That profession seemed to be popular among terrorists.
There was that doctor in England who killed hundreds of elderly patients. And who can forget Mengele.

WOW! That's less than 2 miles from my house.

Can you tell what the area is like where he got arrested? Any schools nearby?

Schools nearby include Fordson Public to the North on Ford Road and the now-defunct, if memory serves, Saint Alphonsus Catholic to the South down Schaefer at Warren

Went to St. Al's for 12 years back in the day.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he will never become a doctor in the United States. I don't think you can obtain a license if you have a record of committing a felony. Even getting back into a university here should be difficult. Maybe he can still get a job emptying bed pans, though.

In case nobody's posted it yet (sorry; I'm very pressed for time), here's the story on the Detroit News's website:
Man held on $1M bond...

They don't use the M-word, but they do state his name in sentence 2, and mention his recent visit to Lebanon. The T-word even makes an appearance.

The most interesting aspect, to me, is the mayor's set of quotes.

BTW, I looked for this story at the Detroit Free Press, and came up empty.

Let's see, walking around in camo pants carrying a AK-47 (allegedly) and blacked out, with camo face paint? Surely just hunting deer I suppose? Or maybe this jihad he speaks of, is a personal jihad? And if he loses this battle, he wants the AK-47 to off himself...

Thank goodness they caught this guy before he had a chance to hurt some innocent people...

"Sudden Jihadi Syndrome" as a term, has the unintended consequence of down-grading a 1st degree cold blood, pre-planned conscious intent/deed to murder to a second degree status. Just don't want to give any free material to be manipulated by the enemy by softening perceptions.

How about what I think it is: Eventual Jihadi Syndrome

...because eventually they'll all get it.

Haven't yet read the thread comments - probably just repeating what others have observed.

This guy's a laugh a minute, eh? In the one photo - holding the baby - he ALMOST smiled.

Apparently the baby is his daughter - another innocent who will be raised to believe being a sullen infidel-hater is admirable.

This twat reeks of self-admiration, doesn't he? I suppose he's thinking about how proud ole Mo would have been when getting word of his "achievement". Well, it's Mo bin-dead, Osama bin-dead, and now it's going to be Sullenzorkot bin-hooskowed.

Another small - or perhaps large - victory for the good guys. OOORAH!

Anyway - residential, mostly single fam and duplexes built in the 40's. High School 6-8 blocks, Elem School ~ a mile, Middle School approx 2 mi

Mom taught at that High School 15 years ago, she said that over 1/2 of the girls were pregnant when they graduated.
All married, of course.

Debbie Schlussel's article on this shows the Zorkot website, which features many copies of the Hizballah flag. The Hizballah flag shows an AK-47 over the world, signifying Islamic conquest of the world. Here is a picture of the Hizballah flag:

re #367

The Hezbollah flag shows an AK-47 above the whole globe. Inspired by the success of the Iranian Revolution, the party has tried to transform Lebanon's multi-religious state into an Iranian-style Islamic state.

Since the AK-47 is shown above the whole globe, it is a reminder that the ambitions of Khomeinist Iran (Khomeini was the mentor of Hizballah) are global.

re: #278 Pete(Detroit)
Unfortunately this park, Hemloch Park, is 4 short blocks from my house, at the end of my street, and is the principle neighborhood park for my area.

I am far less than pleased that the "news" was so slow in coming out, and that the Mayor sees fit to be POC instead of the police chief. Before the "announcements" there was only neighborhood scuttlebutt. Fact is, we "locals" don't know, yet, if this guy is a random nut case or really hooked up...make that, we non-Leanese and/or non-Iraqi locals, anyway. It is possible he is hooked up with Hezbollah, as it is certainly "represented" here about (with at least one federal fugative hiding out in Lebanon right now)...and it is also possible he's a demented and stupid wanna be. One thing stands out in my mind is that Hemloch park is the frequent and usual desitnation for most Shia demonstrations here, not a locale for non-Arabs to frequent in any large numbers...other than those of us who live right here. That, and although the mercantile environment is decidedly Shia Lebanese, the neighborhood immediately around the park is more Shia Iraqi than Lebanese. These groups do not mix well at best, in my direct experience, so lord knows what weird ideas this dude may have had in his skull.

About now some one might ask "why do I still live here?" Plenty of Arabs have asked. Answer that I give anyone who asks: It is my home, and I will leave only feet first, tits up, either naturally, or if by violence with as many as I can take with me. I repeat, it is my home, and the home of multiple other Irish, Polish, Italian, Maltese, and Czech early 20th century immigrants who came to work at Ford Rouge. Many have left, some of us have stayed, particularly the Polish and Italian. I'm a stray Mick, if you will with a better half who's Polish/Czech ancestry. In a word, we are stubborn. Quite simply, it is nice to live where you can walk to several small shops for anything you need daily other than hardware or appliances. The "price" is that we have dominant Arab presence. Who else builds new in urban environments? And with out local, state or federal major subsidy...meaning your tax dollars. It doesn't all go back to Bint Jebeil.

Now the local papers and news outlets seem to have trouble getting the 19th District Court Pre-Trial hearing date pinned down, either 9/21 or 10/21...but 9/21 fits the requirements of the law...and I will be at 19th District Court by 0700 9/21 to try to get in to witness the hearing...that usually don't start before 0900, and for "hot" cases, are frequently docket listed around midday when actually planned for 0830 or 0900. Not a new thing, they did it with the Lord & Taylor manslaughter pre-trail, too.

I don't post here often, but felt I needed to do so today. I didn't get a sense of much "local presence" here other than a couple commentors, who no doubt ain't real pleased with this either. I will post again after the pre-trial or if anything noteworhty occurs meantime. As for the Arab "street"...that's a laugher, since they lie to themsleves on subjects such as this one, and most assuredly to you. Of the 30,000 who live aorund me, I know 3 who might get level with me, and one of those is on his 3rd tour in Iraq at the moment in the US Army. I'll ask the other 2 over the weekend when I see them. If you don't live among the Iraqi and Lebanese you might not sense the palpable fear that exists over meeting peer expectations politically and socially. It isnt' easy to get a straight comment.

Finally, I need to say that Debbie Schlussel has it right. I disagree occasionally with the wide brush she paints with, but her bona fides are solid, and I usually agree fully... and this time, it is appropriate...this could very well be sinister.

re: #295 AW

The Start of My Personal Jihad (in the US)

[Arabic]

Date: 09/08/2007

According to the google translation the Arabic says:

Believers who emigrated, and strive in the cause of Allah with their wealth and the greatest degree of themselves when God and those are winners

That is a verse in quran, Chapter (sura) 9, verse 20, the english translation from Saudi ministry of islamic affairs, dawah and guidance:
"[20] Those who believe, and suffer exile and strive with might and main, in Allah's cause, with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah: they are the people who will achieve (salvation)."

Though notice, the Saudis translated "jahedo" which is "jihad" as "strive". But but everybody knows Jihad implies strongly the war, and in much less the "self-struggle" or in another word: "self-torture".
