-RetweetThe Inevitable OJ Thread

Tue, Sep 18, 2007 at 6:12:33 pm PDT

I know it’s on every channel tonight (they’re all hoping for a replay of those glory days of old, when Rockingham ruled the airwaves), but in case any lizards want to discuss it, here’s a topic for double murderer OJ Simpson.

LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - O.J. Simpson, the former American football star acquitted of double murder in 1995, was charged on Tuesday with kidnapping, armed robbery and assault in a dispute over sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel.

Simpson and his three co-defendants face a total of 11 charges that could send the 60-year-old athlete-turned-actor to prison for the rest of his life — a fate he dodged in his sensational “trial of the century” by winning an acquittal.

The Las Vegas charges stem from what authorities say was the armed theft on Thursday by Simpson of his own sports memorabilia from a pair of collectors who were staying at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino.

The gym is killing me with CNN or Headline News - Larry King is always on during lunch and today I had to listen to Kathy Griffin's opinion of the OJ case. Can't tell you what it was, though, or exactly what happened. Hard to believe that's all a major network can come up with - interviewing a second-rate celebrity about the travails of other second-rate celebrities.

BTW, glad to finally post. I signed up 2 weeks ago and just got swamped afterward and had no chance to chime in.

58 kynna  Tue, Sep 18, 2007 6:24:09pm

Okay, I know this is a lame thread, but I actually do have a comment.

I read that OJ was being held without bail. Is that true? If so, I think it's absurd for our Boone Creek terrorist buddies to have been given bail (something low like $200,000) and Hsu got bail (something high but obviously doable considering).

Anyone think OJ's going to get anywhere near an airport/train station/highway without the media surrounding him and broadcasting his wearabouts?

Could they please take the same interest in our terrorist friends or in the criminal facilitator of Hillary Clinton et al?

If there is more than a couple of black folks on the jury for this trial, he'll be ruled not guilty, or, at best, have a mistrial.

Peruvians get sick from apparent meteorite crater

LIMA (Reuters) - Dozens of people living in a Peruvian town near Lake Titicaca reported vomiting and headaches after they went to look at a crater apparently left by a meteorite that crashed down over the weekend, health officials said on Tuesday.

After hearing a loud noise, people went to see what had happened and found a crater 65 feet wide and 22 feet deep on an uninhabited plateau near Carancas in the Puno region.

Experts from Peru's Geophysical Institute are on their way to the area 800 miles south of Lima to verify whether it was a meteorite.

"We've examined about 100 people who got near to the meteorite crater who have vomiting and headaches because of gasses coming out of there," Jorge Lopez, health director in Puno, told Reuters.

"People are scared," he said.

They both were desert tribal people, they both used Camels in combat and they both founded huge empires within 100 years.
I like these interesting 'What if' scenarios!

Oh no wait, it did happen in real life. After the muslims became city folk after killing everyone, out of the gobi desert came a nomad people waving swords and souped up on zeal for Bhudda. They kicked the Muslims asses And destroyed the Abbayasid Caliphate ...good for them. And they lived happily ever after.

I happen to be waiting for an elevator (no it did not have an attendant, I am not in Congress), stepped in a conversation of 2 ladies ("sympathetic to him"), pretending to mind my business, they were talking about how OJ wanted to get HIS things back. I just know there is a choice of at least 2 angles in this.

1. He is taking HIS things, he was driven up the wall by the Goldman's since is was not guilty.

or

2. Some one else got him all riled up. He was driven to insanity, he hastily ran up there and got his things. He was framed by some Italian guy.

92 Carol Herman  Tue, Sep 18, 2007 6:36:09pm

People dream of fame;

But they lose sight of the set ups. When creeps, these days, can use their cell phones to tape ya. And, that's just money in the bank to the creeps.

So, OJ has been scamming the Goldman's; still making money from memorabilia; but here you have the Prisoner's Dilemma.

You know that one? Where you keep the multiple prisoners in separate jail cells. NOT to talk is the best defense, to go around the table.

But "breaking" can free ya. While you pile it on another "target."

The scuz ball Riccio, purposely taped this even on his Olympus cell phone; because he knew it would bring him money.

I don't think he thought Beardsley would dial 9/11.

So, chalk one thing up to "unintended consquences."

Beardsley, for his part. knew he didn't OWN the goods he was selling. And, if they went missing, he'd be out of pocket: DOUGH.

His call to 9/11 was so that he could get a police report; proving to the individuals "whose stock this was," sort'a a receipt on why he didn't make any money "selling memorabilia."

Dunno if this is the same as the OJ jurors setting him free. Or the totally inadequate Marsha Clark. But there were things to watch during "that" trial. And, it ended badly for "justice."

Now? Me thinks it just ends badly for Obama.

The affirmative action tilt of the Bonkey party sure thows up some wild stuff.

And, since OJ is a flight risk; yes. He's in jail. And, I hope he gets to stay there for a very long time. Whisling ain'[t gonna get him a brain.

re: #51 JammieWearingFool

Slut, Jamie on that same page,
The next story down is better.

MOSCOW, Idaho - A 22-year-old carnival worker blames two friends having sexual intercourse in the back seat of his car for an accident in which his Chevrolet S-10 Blazer struck a telephone pole.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Frank told authorities that the actions of the pair in the back caused the Blazer, which "was top heavy anyway," to become "tippy" and lose control.

Was OJ driving a Blazer?

oh paalese! The blob? We all know if its gonna create anything its gonna be zombies! Muhahahahahahaha! Soon the infection will spread to central America and since zombies know no boundries they will eventually wander in to US. Bush will try to give them citizenship but the minutemen will set up hunting platforms and shootem as they try to cross the border, (Like in Dawn of the dead). Later in a press conference the Zombie-American anti defamation league will denounce the minutemen as Vigilates. And in a protest in Columbia university a long haired kid will be seen holding up a sign that says "no Undead being is illegal!"

karma is a pita...eh, OJ?

I have been watching the Goldman's interview here and there and they are still broken up when they talk about it.

Bless them.

Keep on his arse, Goldman's...make his life hell.

I was in a work meeting a number of years back, and this one guy (have NO clue how this even came up) concluded the meeting with how he thought OJ was innocent.

The entire group in the meeting screwed up their faces and started groaning and told him he needed to hide. We all left shaking our heads.

I would bet dollars to donuts that he also is one that believes that the gov't did 9/11 and suffers from bds.

I saw the gruesome pictures of the slayings...there are just no words to what I would do if that were my kid :( .

So I said, "Well, which one are you then?"

That's when the fight started...

I think I'm going to get a TIVO for the trial. Whoo hoo!

112 Fredlike  Tue, Sep 18, 2007 6:52:01pm

I doubt anyone would be facing Life if it was not OJ related. I see a plea barging coming. With just an audio tape it is going to be tough to get OJ on the stiffer charges unless everybody rolls on him.

Question why are trials so long in California (at least the murder trials). I served on a armed robby jury here (US not California) and it was a one day affair. The prosecution showed that there was two robberies, the defendant was there, he conspired with some other folks and he had a gun in about 40 minutes, the defense took about an hour to try and muddy the evidence. The rest of the 8 hours was spent sitting in the hall, jury selection and deciding the verdict. Granted murder is more complex, but 6 months to present the evidence! I watched some of the OJ trial and it seemed like they took forever to do anything. I remember the coroners testimony. He spent weeks going over the knife cuts, time of death etc. The defense team took about 15 minutes to get him to admit that deaths were caused by either a one or two sided knife and that the time of death was between when they left the restaurant and when the bodies were found. essentially the coroners testimony amounted to 15 minutes of real evidence spread over 3 or 4 weeks. I did not watch the whole trial but to me the verdict came down the DNA evidence. It was very damming especially the mixed blood results from the scene and the Bronco. The problem was you had to trust the police to have handled the evidence properly and not to have contaminated it. Since the key detectives in the case lied on the stand their testimony about the evidence was tainted.

Former NFL player, with street cred for having killed two people with a knife, I doubt OJ would be anybody's b!tch in prison.

And if jury nullification got OJ off one despite irrefutable evidence, it'll probably do it again.

120 LoFlyer  Tue, Sep 18, 2007 6:57:31pm

As many have said who really cares? OJ, much like the current dog-fighting scandal with Mike Vic, was an easy target for the celebrity infatuated western news media, that is focused on entertainment rather than what is newsworthy and truly important. Examples: Last week a AK 47 toting Muslim enters a park locked and loaded. No media comment. Second example: the trial in Texas with Islamic Holy-land Foundation focused upon terror financing with un-indicted conspirators CAIR. Western media ignores it. Instead the entertainment driven, liberal press is infatuated with OJ.
Combined with an over-active American justice system that throws a dozen charges against someone for a simple violation of the law. Give us a break! 11 charges against OJ for a simple crime of terroristic threats and possibly armed robbery. I will probably get flamed for this, but the American justice system seems driven by laws out-lawing most everything, and then applying the laws against citizens by the dozens for offenses that would not get an illegal immigrant deported.
Thats just the way things are nowadays.

OJ has been in prison (of a sort) for the last thirteen years. He can't make any money because the Goldmans end up getting every last dime when he tries to. He is recognized where ever he goes, and is usually asked to leave. IMHO it ain't gonna get any better, and at least in prison he'll have a steady income for Goldman to garnish. It has been *almost* funny to watch Sister Brown too; she's angry because she's not getting any part of the cash cow that this just might become. Whatever happened to OJ & Nicole's kids?

re: #28 Pro-Bush Canuck

I was in Barbados when the not guilty verdict came down. Two hundred black native Bajans that worked in our office building leapt to their feet and cheered. I've never been the same since. I can't explain it, but somehow a gulf opened up that day.

This is really the most significant thing about the OJ case. Millions of African-Americans, knowing full well that a Black man was getting away with murdering two innocent whites in cold blood, cheered like for the second coming of Jesus Christ. And this included Black law schools, the educated elite, etc.

This phenomena changed permanently my feeling about "Black America".
I know plenty of super Black people, but I will never EVER forget the reaction to the OJ acquittal.

To this day, if someone calls me on the phone about some "inner city" charity, the FIRST thing that pops into my mind is the OJ acquittal reaction.

The other very significant issue about the OJ case, is how the political and economic powers that be forced LA DA Gil Garcetti to change the trial location from Brentwood to downtown LA, thus ensuring a Black jury and an acquittal - the obvious motive being the avoidance of a repeat of the Rodney King riots.

This was underlined when Johnny Cochrane explicitly threatened as much if Judge Ito didn't obediently roll over and do things his way. And of course, Ito complied.

Also, the general air of sickening Political Correctness, recalling the demonization of a good cop, Mark Furman EVEN BY THE PROSECUTION, simply for using the word "n*****" - he was compared by the PROSECUTION to Hitler- even as Dream Team captain Johhny Cochrane was using the term himself freely in court on numerous occasions.

This sick double standard continues to the present, and is ENTIRELY analogous to the kowtowing of mainstream America to radical Islam.

It is bullshit and needs to be called as such.

OJ's such a phoney -- That happy, lumbering walk -- the fake smiling, affable "nice guy" act he puts on for the world -- it's great to see him caught being his real self on audiotape. I can just see him shoving Nicole against a wall, too.

187 Mich-again  Tue, Sep 18, 2007 8:27:13pm

I am perhaps the only American who didn't watch a minute of the OJ Trial. I doubt that I'll watch any of this trial either.

My only memories of OJ to be how he ran for 220 yards against the Lions on Monday Night Football when I was a kid. Or how he was a pathetic shill for USC throughout the game when he blabbered his way through a Rose Bowl from the booth.

Or when he was trying to kill the Queen in the Naked Gun.

The movie starts in a meeting in Beirut with a collection of anti-American leaders: Ayatollah Khomeini, Mikhail Gorbachev (who claims he has the Americans believing he is "a nice guy"), Yasser Arafat, Colonel Gaddafi and Idi Amin, who are planning a terrorist act. The man who is later shown to be Papshmir is seen at this meeting. It turns out that Frank Drebin has been posing undercover as a waiter; he beats up all the attendees, wipes off Gorbachev's forehead birthmark ("I knew it!", proclaims Drebin), and escapes/falls out the window.

Good times man.. Good times..

I am perhaps the only American who didn't watch a minute of the OJ Trial. I doubt that I'll watch any of this trial either.

I didn't watch it, either. It was boring, the players were all putting on a show for the camera -- including Judge Ito. I found it particularly distasteful that Leno and the like were making fun of it, like the dancing Itos, etc. It insulted and diminished the pain of the families of the murder victims.
I was so shocked when the verdict was not guilty.

His persona was so lovable when he was fronting for Hertz and in the Naked Gun movies. He had a great 2nd career going -- a rare thing for a football player. His true nature eventually won out and blew that all to hell.

Thank you for saying that; I also care. A lot. Two innocent people were brutally murdered. A significant portion of black people in our country displayed zero moral integrity when they cheered his acquittal and that is something we should all care about. A jury of idiots couldn't understand DNA, or didn't care to, preferring the option of "standing by a bruthuh." That is also something we should all care about.

You can see the OJ story as another celebrity scandal that is not worth our attention, or you can see it as an important barometer of how low our society has fallen. In the latter case, it's just another wake up call.

Actually, I think the shock value of the OJ acquittal was very good for the country. It was such a blatant example of black racism that white people stopped putting up with black racial whining.

It's no coincidence that shortly afterward, for the first time, white male actors were allowed to kiss black women on television and the movies without howls of protest.

What I remember is a front page LA Times story about a candlelight vigil for OJ's two victims--a huge above-the-fold story. Yes, it was sad. Two pretty, innocent people got their throats slit on the West side of town.

Meanwhile, on page 14-15, was the story of the ongoing Rwandan massacres during which hundreds of thousands of innocent people were getting their throats slit. That tragedy was buried, day after day, behind the OJ hype. I don't know if it ever made it to page 1.

That's when I first really began to see the media for what it is.

I was in Barbados when the not guilty verdict came down. Two hundred black native Bajans that worked in our office building leapt to their feet and cheered. I've never been the same since. I can't explain it, but somehow a gulf opened up that day.

I agree with you. It was just such a moment for me as well. It told me something, but I don't like to think what it was.

I understand covering the story (not necessarily here, though that's Charles's call). Simpson is arguably one the most infamous unconvicted murderers still around. Naturally there's interest.

But I do not understand the obsession in coverage, the feeding frenzy by the media. Over the weekend FNC became pretty much the OJ Channel (all OJ all the time).

I know a feeding frenzy and tabloid-like coverage has become standard practice in the MSM, be it the Minneapolis bridge, the dissapearance of the little British girl, etc. But even so, how does Simpson rate such extensive coverage?

At least they the MSM finally stopped talking about Anna Nicole Smith... I think.

OJ will convert to Islam in prison and become known as Abu Al-Foobah Bin Beri Gud Tumi

Well I will say, if he is prosecuted by the Nevada DA with the fervor that "we're gonna finally get him" then that is ABSOLUTELY wrong. And if he walks because the stuff was his or what the hell ever, then justice was served; black, white or otherwise.

After seeing what that puke Nifong did the the Duke kids because they were WHITE, well racism works from all sides and from all angles. And speaking of District Attorneys, anyone remember what happened in Texas with Tom Delay? The DA better have his eye on the ball in Nevada and not be set on trying a case that is over 10 years old just for notoriety. If he/she does he will be a SOB just like Nifong, and that other piece of shit in Texas who made the documentary about getting Tom Delay.

Is OJ a puke, yep. Does he deserve to fry more than the normal person on this matter because of the previous acquittal? ABSOLUTELY NOT. And thats the law.

Yes, Ladies and gentleman, even in this agricultural enviroment, We're gonna' play a love song -- This was about 1974 in Harrisburg Pa. at the Farm Show Arena, a week after the Farm show had left town... Frank never admitted to playing there, and I can't say as I blame him. But, I will never forget what a magical night that was.
